Share with us what are your plans for the coming Dec holidays?

Many of us may already have made plans for Dec, and into January 2013.  Guess our kids will be having their school holidays, it’s time to clear our annual leave, or really we are at the time of the year where we just need a good rest.  Retirees or semi-retirees may have more time at their hands, to watch the forever unending Taiwan or Korean movies, or perhaps scoot up to Genting highlands.

But at the same time, many of us will not have plans, perhaps make plans to do nothing.  This is always an expensive time of the year, holidays, Christmas, parties and presents.  We have different life scenarios.

Sharing what we do is a great way for others to know more about us.  SHC makes this possible.  We tells others we like to eat nice laksa, and laksa lovers will start to gather together.  Simply share that we like playing mahjong on a Sat, and suddenly a gang is formed.

If we share with others that we have this itch to go to Port Dickson, you never know, a bus pops up and there we go as a small gang.  I love home potlucks, make soya beancurd, wow, another group is formed.  I think it is nice to share our interests and desires now, rather than wait until we are immobile.  This is how SilverHairs friends are developed.  The club provides the opportunity,  you have to share, rather than wait for someone to come over to you, and say, Hi.

December is a good time for topics.  It’s a time to think about what we will do in 2013.  Perhaps, you may want to start a fishing group, a small business to make and sell kaya, even to go out and ask friends for snake grass, hoping to find a cure for cancer.  So, if you have just bought a series from Korea, share with everybody.

If you are planning to get married, why not, tell us your plans.  Complete your dream to start charity work in Cambodia, NE Thailand or even in India.  Gosh, so many things we can do in Dec.  I look forward to hearing from you share your Dec plans.

Please be encouraging.  Encourage your fellow SHC friends to share too.  This is what I mean by participating.

  1. My December is a busy time for me. First half of Dec, I am in Aust. The Second half, I am in Thailand. Weather is good, I plan to eat and eat. Before Xmas, I am likely to cross over to Yangon, eat some Singapore Char Kway Teow, and observe the changing fashion trends in Yangon. Mini skirts are the new change. Meeting fellow Singaporeans there who have lived there for years.

I am also going to NE Thailand to sample the cool weather, the rustic living, trying some buffalo meat in hot pot and trying to be clean my soul. What are you doing in Dec?

  2. December is time-out for me. I have more time to do my own things and do not have to set the alarm clock on many December days. :)

Recently i came across youtube videos of ‘lectures’ of online courses and find that they are quality stuff, so i will be spending some time learning from these video ‘lessons’ in December.

December is also time for reflection – reflecting on how the year seems to end so fast, and to look at my bucket list and see how many items i can strike off. May be i will add a new item for the coming new year! lol! :)

  3. I’ll be going on a 4days/3nights cruise on board Legends of the Sea with my hubby in early December to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

We also planned to drive into KL…confirmed jam lah but we’ll probably drive in very early in the morning. Maybe my son and his family will join us. This will be over the weekend before Christmas.

Sometime in the middle of the month I’m having a crab party with some good friends. Crabs cooked in many ways and we’ll all end up crabby after that. hahahaha

    Have a great December!

  4. December is the time when me and my family pack our bags and head for our family ‘retreat’ at the Cameron’s – yup, yup, unexcitable, boring mountainside, but time to say goodbye to the noise and the rat race, a good escapade from the maddening crowd and say hello to the quiet, humble reminder of our beginning.

Love the rustic charm, go back to nature, scanning the valley of thick vegetation of rich hues of colours from the valley, sitting at the wooden bench watching the sun rise. Time to reflect and give thanks to the Almighty.

Time spent here is not only good for the soul but also time to cleanse our digestive system with the simple fare of charcoal steamboat lunch on a cool cool afternoon and long long walks on the sidewalks of the mountain road.

Join me, anyone – well there’s still one more place in the apartment free but bunk with my young adult son. And going there by direct coach – but you got to try your luck and hope for a seat from a sudden cancellation cos it’s full already.

  5. December is my favourite month. It is a special time for me as I was born 10 days before Christmas and every birthday is a celebration of life.

It is also a time to slow down and spend time with the family and friends; enjoy the festivities of Christmas and year-end parties.

However, this year, I choose to make it different. I decided to share my blessings with others. As I am good in baking, I decided to do a charity bake and all proceeds will go to St Joseph’s Home & Hospice, my pet charity. I have already receive orders for my fruitcake from relatives, colleagues, friends and friends from SHC. Orders are good, thank you to all who supported my project. Hopefully, the residents of the Home can also enjoy the blessings and comfort of Christmas.

Before the year comes to a close, I have another project to bake 200 cupcakes for my niece’s wedding on 22nd December. This will surely be the busiest December ever.

May I take this opportunity in wishing all SHC members a blessed Christmas and a super duper 2013 !!

  7. It’s nice to read your plans for Dec. Sounds like some do have a compact Dec with holiday plans. It’s a good time of the year to go for holidays.

I am always keen to find out who are not going for holidays, still have to work throughout Dec and have to spend the season busy looking after an elderly or young superactive kids at home.

Please continue to share your Dec plans, it’s one way of knowing you better.

  8. I have just become a grandma on 21 Nov and currently in Sydney with my grandson, my daughter and my son-in-law. They will be off to Wollongong next week to spend Christmas with Grandma G and me, Grandma C willbe off to Canberra to visit my sister and back to Singapore on 11 Dec late. Then its back to work the next day.

Had been an eventful time here and enjoying every minute of my hols.

No more holidays until next year as all my annual leave have been used up.

Will cook up something for a group of my good friends for a catching up session

  9. This December, I hv lots of things I wanted to accomplish, ie attending the last Y2012 monthly meeting and last walk of the year. Also hv to think very hard of $5 gift exchange for the meeting.

Mid December, going for short holidays around Malaysia with a group of buddies, date not fixed yet – a makan makan session with some members (hpefully this time, it wont clashed with my holi period again hor) and of cos, a holi in China around Xmas seasons and be back for the NY countdown at Kovan organised by ANee and Charles.

Wow, so much happening and hope that I am able to do all this…

    Cheers.. Dolly

  10. This December will be a busy one for me. Just got back from Cebu trip and lived to tell my family and friends how my travelling companions and I survived a super typhoon which claimed more than 500 lives.
In mid-Dec, my girl will come back for 3-week break from UK. I will be organizing a trip to Hello Kitty in JB for my girl and some friends and their kids.
Then Christmas in KL to visit relatives. After which I must quickly make dry ikan bilis sambal for my girl to bring back to UK. Come January, I must go look for work… and the wheel starts rolling all over again…
