Unless there are any last minute changes, SilverHairsClub.com will be shut from 19 Feb 2013 0600hrs to 21 Feb 2013 0600 hrs. During this period, our club’s website will not be accessible to members and the public.
After the system upgrade, some members who have never accessed the website at any stage, may have to re-apply as a new member.
If you have not accessed the Club before, do make sure you have done so before these dates. We are expecting a major upgrade, so the old look will no longer be there, when we return.
Will update you as we go along.

Hi everybody,
Please be reminded our website domain will be down from tomorrow 19 Feb 0600 to 21 Feb 0600 for a system upgrade.
Terence Seah
We are having our system upgrade on 19, 20, and 21 Feb 2013. During this period, you will not be able to access the website at SilverHairsClub.com.
When the system is back, you will encounter some problems for a few weeks, as we finetune the website. Have fun.

Hi fellow SHCians,
Please note that SilverHairsClub.com will be shut from 19 Feb 2013 0600hrs to 21 Feb 2013 0600 hrs, due to a system upgrade. Members who have never participated in SilverHairsClub.com may have to reapply as new members. This include members who have changed their email address but have not informed the club.
Hi Frisna,
It is possible to make all executed events disappear from the website, so that current or pending ones stay on the top. However, this is a manual procedure. As such, we have not done so. If someone volunteers with this role, I may give it a try.
Terence Seah
dear Terence
when upgrading Is it possible to make all the “executed” eventspost to disappear from the main page as well as a button to click the “on going event”? thanks
Life is so beautiful with email. It does away with postal services, and it’s almost free. Like me, and I think like many others, postcards are so hard to come by, so are New Year cards.
Collecting email addresses and organising them neatly makes sending them off to friends or associates fast and easy. But, as some of us would have realised, they can be a nuisance. Especially when the content are not wanted; or they are just plain spam.
SHC gatherings are great places to meet new friends; and also for collecting email addresses. Some members feel shy to reject someone’s request for their email addresses. But, all too soon, members start getting unwanted emails either a story, a joke or a request to join an activity. Sometimes, members complain that fellow members are sending them unwanted stuff. And, they feel something should be done. Basically, they feel someone should tell them not to send these messages.
Another way of collecting email addresses is put their email addresses on the forum; and invite fellow members to contact them via their email addresses. The same story goes on.
First, I encourage all members not to give away their email addresses, except and unless they want to.
Second, I encourage EOs anmd ECs to use a registration list on the Post they are organising. Hopefully, your email addresses will not be duplicated and cc’d to numerous other people.
Please note.

Hi Terence! Kudos to you for upgrading the website.
Cheers

Hi Jassmine #4,
I have been in publications for many years. However, in this particular case, I have not thought of the idea of a publication – a magazine or a physical newsletter. I believe other members have also thought it is a good idea to circulate a newsletter.
Generally, a newsletter or a magazine or any printed publication is expensive. Cost of delivery, production, design and layout, they all add up to a lot of costs.
There could be other options, which we have not explore. Yes, if there is an idea and a way, why not? Keep the idea warm.

This is GREAT news!Expect the traffic at the online flea mart to double…
Is an SHC newsletter/mag/broadsheet… in the works? i like the idea of selling the club’s own publication to raise the profile of the club. :)
If possible dont cut out inactive members, they might not join now but might join later cos of other commitments. But for members who nv log on for long long time,nv keep in touch n go website look see then clear them away, dont take up space.
Hi Ivan, Jassmine and members,
The major feature change is the ability to have pictures in the POst.
No other features have been raised by members, so I guess this would be a useful change.
