Hit-and-run accident and the cyclist is….

Dear SHC Members,

You might have read in the Straits Times on Thursday 11Apr main section Pg A6 and 12Apr Homne Pg B12 – the cyclist Mdm Rosna Rausee is non other than our member Ms Rose White.  She suffered spinal injuries and a blood clot in her brain and is in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.  It was mentioned that she has two daughters.

I had met Rose White twice some years back.  A lady who is sweet, lively, jovial!

I wish to “pass the hat around” for a token gift contribution in this moment of need for her and family.  Terence has endorsed this love gift.

The funds collected will be given together with a list of the contributors and amount.

Please do a transfer of your monies to my POSB savings account 542-107-561  — as the information is not reflected in the bank statement, kindly indicate your name and amount here.

Closing date: Thursday 25th April, 2013 by 09:00hrs ie., 9am.

Closing date: Monday 22nd April, 2013 by 18:00hrs

I want at least 2 person to go with me to present the above to her/family at the hospital.  I will inform the date later.

Thanks!

  1. Hi Christina
Thank you for initiating this contribution. I visited Rose last night (Saturday) and spoke to Rose daughter, Sharifah. I asked her to write a list of things that Rose will need after her operation so that those who have the items and are no longer in need of them can contribute to Rose. Items could be walking aid, bed pan, special bed, etc… If anyone wants Rose’s daughter’s handphone number, email me at laurawee@hotmail.com or sms me like some SHC members have done and I can pass the number and you can contact Rose’s daughter directly.
For me, it is just my personal belief not to handle cash but I rather direct all contributions directly to Rose’s family members. I just volunteer to be the go-between to assist Rose as much as I can. Rose has been a good friend and we had dinner last Sunday after listening to the Big Jam Band event at Botanical gardens, then this accident happened 2 days later. What a shock it was for me and my friends who were with her at last Sunday’s dinner.

  2. Christina and Laura…

It is the thought that counts…but it is really the action that speaks volume of friendship. Appreciate the prompt response by the 2 ladies.

While we wish Rose to get well soon, we know it is going to be a long process. Lets do what we can to help her and her family. As Laura has mentioned, some apparatus will be essential.

I saw the TV news about Rose White’s accident tonite.
Let’s send our regards to her family to wish her speedy recovery.

In the meantime, cyclists, pls be extra, extra careful when
moving on the roads. It may not be your fault if you have the
right of way, but it may be your misfortune the other driver doesn’t see you have the right of way.

As the saying goes in war:

It is not who is right is important
It is who is left that matters.

    Have a safe cycling.

    SAFETY FIRST.

    james

    Hi all,
I just had dinner with Rose on Sunday April 7 and we planned to go Greece together if God willing end of this year but now this happens…. have been praying for her speedy recover. Some of us ladies going to visit her today in the evening. Do join us if you can.
I would like to ask her family members esp her daughters to do up a wish list and see if we can help out financially in getting items that she needs most for her road to recovery. If you like to be part of well wishers who like to participate in Rose wishlist, do email me at laurawee@hotmail.com. We will proceed from there as I really hope to help her in some ways that will be meaningful to her, instead of buying flowers, chocolates or things that she does not need.
God bless her and her hubby and 2 angels.

    Hi All,
Some of us are getting constant updates with regards to Rose White’s progress.

As of now, she had already come around, can talked and ate already. Her Opn tenativel is Monday. Docs will observe her these days.. if any complications/problems detected, will move the opn to either WEd or Thurs.

As advised, it is better not to visit her now as she still in sedation – Open her eyes less than few secs only, so it would be better to visit her later, preferably a few days later after her opn.

    Best regards, Dolly

  4. Hi Yew Kwong, Laura, James, Dolly,

Appreciate the updates and information. Glad to hear that some of you have visited her. Your updates on her condition is appreciated. Please keep them coming.

    Hi Laura,
Glad to have found a close link to RoseWhite. I have met her briefly on 2 occasions a couple of years ago and noted that she is such a jovial person. It is devastating to hear of her encounter!

Like you, I am a practical person, too.

Am sure some members might know her yet do not know that she was the one in this accident. I do not know the status of her injury except what I read in the ST and am sure, there will be many things that will be required for her recovery. Hence this call for a “corp” contribution, the amount will add up… to help provide for some of her needs!

Money is personal and a sensitive issue.

This is not to show who cares or contributes more… it is a gift from the heart, a corporate collection for a lady in our club.

    Members are free to decide.

So far, James & Daniel have contributed. Thanks!
I will update later once I have verified receipt.

Please note Dolly’s comment — better to visit her later preferably a few days after her operation which is tentatively scheduled on Monday ie., today, 15April.

Blessings to Rose White and her family!

  13. Hi guys!

It’s sad to learn of someone who has had a bad accident… my heartfelt wishes for a quick recovery for Rose.

I stay in Yishun and have always been concerned for the safety of the many recreational cyclists who just seem to enjoy taking these very heavily trafficked roads of Yishun Avenue 1 and Sembawang. Please do not use this route even if it leads to some wonderful views or sights. Many vehicles, including lorries, pickups and cement mixers travel at speeds way beyond the 70km limit. I have had these monsters overtake me dangerously on the road especially at night… what more a cyclist.

  14. Latest Update from Boon Liang:- Recd from Rose’s dotter

Rose is OK and sleeping now – They had wheeled her back to the ward ard 8.45pm.

    Best regards,
    Dolly

  15. Hi Christina

I would like to make a small contribution to Rose and to wish her a speedy reovery.
Instead of making an internet transfer, can I write a cheque and bank it into your account? If it is OK, please let me have the name that I should write on the cheque. FYI, I tried to create a new ‘Payee’, but encountered problems.
    Thank you for coordinating.

    1. This news about Rose White is just wonderful. It’s unfortunate that accidents and illness can fall on any of us, anywhere or anytime.

I look forward to the day she can jump and dance, maybe at the coming Cabaret night.
