Badminton at Bukit Gombak Stadium on Thursdays 10am

Hi All.. the badminton at Bukit Gombak indoor stadium is celebrating its 1-year anniversary this month..
Thanks to all loyal, persistent and consistent participants, we have a regular group of about 10 regular and some irregular players.
Singapore is small and Bukit Gombak stadium is situated just at the door-step of Bukit Gombak MRT station, we hope that more badminton enthusiasts would come and join us..
The skills of the players varies – so come and look-see.
Just bring yourself, proper shoes and attire – with or without rackets, shuttlecocks provided – and join us for a sweaty sessions. In fact, the indoor stadium can be quite a sauna.. :)
If you are not keen to play, you can still come and join us for off-courts chit chat and lunch/coffee around 12 noon – usually at the food centres around the area.
(Unless Mr. Johnny Pow would like to organise exotic places like Bollywood Organic Vegetable gardens again..)
Hope to see you.
Cheers
inez

  1. Hi Inez

Sounds v interesting.. I’m not able to join in the badminton game cos my right hand is unable to take the stress (wrist broken last year). However, I wd like to join you all for coffee/lunch one day. Probably, on a day when Johnny is arrangng something special? Hee2…. East meeting West.

  2. Hi Inez,
You may want to consider have lunch at the Bollywood farm to celebrate this one year anniversary.

#Gabrialla, Just thought of tracking or bashing, whichever one define, through the bukit batok forest nearby where we play badminton. Is not a long journey but no clear path to getting the exit somewhere at Hillview. However, being poor in
navigation, I need someone who can at least recognised the path we took so that when lost he or she can help all concern back to the entry point. :) :) :) Once I followed a volunteer and hope can remember the direction. :) If got a group of ten we can do it together.

    Stay Healthy! Be Happy! :)

  5. Hi Li Li & Gabriella and those who may wish to join us,

Almost all our badminton kakis have opt for simple lunch to remind ourselves we are one year old with energy to continue moving around the courts for many years to come. We not going to the bolly but to a café which provide Asian food with board games provided. The setting of the café will remind us of school days.

Meeting point is Bt Gombak MRT station next thurs 25th at 12pm. Alternatively, you may want to come earlier to join us for warm up game or watch us play and chat with those on side-line resting.

Please let us know of your attendance to make necessary arrangements for transport to the place of celebration.

    for bt gombak badminton group,

    Stay Healthy! Be Happy! :)

  6. Hi Johnny

I’m not sure where the stadium is… hence, maybe I’ll just join you all for the lunch celeb and yak2 plus board games?

C u all at the Bt Gombak MRT station (which exit or at the station control room)?

I’ve not been to this part of Singapore and will try to find my way there. Hee2

    Tks & regards,
    Gabriella

  7. Hi Johnny, wont be there. Was looking forward to Bollywood. (Go recce as my walking kakis interested to go there). Do let me know next time you are going. Enjoy your lunch.

  8. Hi All,

I am lousy at badminton as I will miss hitting the shuttle cock most of the time.

One thing I am very efficient at is ‘bed-minton’. Once I lie on bed, I’ll start snoring almost immediately. Don’t believe, why not bring a foldable bed to a badminton
court and let me show you how?

    Blessings,

  9. As the name BAD-minton suggests, all players are supposed to be really bad at the game in order to look good at it. This really a philosophical issue, if I am not wrong. Why not change the name of the game to “goodminton” to salvage its already bad reputation? Inventors of the game really gave the game a bad name to begin with.

    Blessings,

  10. Presently, girls/women are being ignored in the daily American slangs. In the olden days, Americans used to address the public as “Hi guys and gals” in slang. Not any more. They now lump all men and ladies into the one categorical male gender word “guys”, thus, completely ignoring the female gender. Strangely, ladies are seen not protesting over the deletion of their gender. In sociology we call this the a marked change of public mores(usual social behavioural patterns).

    Blessings,

  11. Hi Johnny

Sori… something just cropped up and I’m not able to join in the lunch this coming Thursday. East unable to meet West this time round. Will join you all some other time …

    Tks & regards,
    Gabriella

  12. Hi Li Li & Gabriella,

We have many more years to live and there are so many activities and events for us to meet. Hope to catch up with you all some other time.

Thank you both for updating. :)

    Stay Healthy! Be Happy! :)
