Gingko Tay – Profile

Hello to all of you at SilverHairsClub.  I am a newcomer!
Please allow me to introduce myself. Briefly, I am a single lady (I mean, never been married :D) and in my 50’s.

I have been working all these years in the secretarial/administrative field, mostly with multi-national companies, including a couple of offshore banks. A whole part of my life has been dedicated to my job. Although I enjoyed my work very much, but unconsciously I had actually neglected much of my social life.
I have just been retrenched and am now very free and available. Nonetheless, the word “retirement” is far from my mind. I will always want to keep busy and continue to use my acquired skills, knowledge and experience.
With much free time on hand now, I hope to take this opportunity to make and meet new friends, and do some of the things that I have missed out, like going to concerts, musicals, travelling, social dancing, gardening, cycling and Singaporeans’ hottest favourite – makan-makan.
If anyone of you out there shares the same interest(s), please let me know. I will be delighted to participate and meet up with you.
You are welcome to contact me at:  gingko.nut@hotmail.com

  1. Good morning, Gingko

welcome to join our cycling activity which falls on 3rd Sat of the month.

You may click ‘Cycling’on the right panel to view details of previous activities.

  2. Can see that you’re the diligent type and hv written a comprehensive intro of yrself. Assuming it wasnt the case and you had chosen to paraphrase it as follows :-

“Briefly, I am a single lady …never been married……neglected much of my social life….and am now very….available. With much free time ….. I hope …..to make and meet new friends….going to social dancing……I will be delighted to meet up with you.”

haha, the naughty ones wd hv descended on you like tons of rocks.

    Welcome Gingko !

SHC is a great place for fellowship, for silverhairs to meet, share, exchange and more.

Here in Terence’s Ark, you’ll find a motley crew of gentle sheep, feisty amazons, timid servants who can also become gallant knights & sword(s)men, and of cos buayas so you do have a rich pick. Pick wisely.

And do join us in our wide ranging activities.

  3. hello Ginko,
A warm welcome. Join us,Veronica, Christina and many others in our forthcoming Sembawang Walk in June. It is a good way to get to know many of our SHCs. Feel the warmth and friendliness all around.

  4. Hi Chris,

Thank you for the warm reception and your kind note.

That’s so true… time should not be a barrier as long as one enjoys doing the things that one likes.

Hope to meet you at the SHC gatherings soon…

    Gingko

  5. Hi Jade,

    Thanks for the invitation.

Will certainly come join the cycling team once my bicycle is polished, tyres inflated and my kneecap “repaired”.

Most of all, I have to pluck up my courage to cycle on the main roads…

    Keep in touch.

    Gingko

  6. Hi Charles,

    Thanks for the warm welcome.

I will certainly come join you guys. Haven’t been to Sembawang area for ages.

Last time was probably during the Grand Prix days.. this shameful Singaporean!

    Cheers,
    Gingko

  7. Hi Gingko,

I’ve just lost my job too (my company decides to close the S’pore operation). But unlike you, I can’t take a break just yet as I have a teenage daughter to raise. So, back to the classified ads.

Anyway, welcome to SHC. You will never be lonely here (or rather … you will not be left alone by the other SHC members … hee hee).

Just a brief intro : Terence, the chief – Yew Kwong, the protective tai kor – Tim Liu, the jocker cum DOM, and the many many sisters & brothers at SHC.

    Hope to see you soon,
    Lily Ho

  8. Wish you the best in yr future endeavours but like you said, you will never be lonely here & wont be left alone so if you need help in the meantime, pls let me/us know.

    Now yr intro.

Terence : the chief – yes, he builds this magnificient Ark and none will want to unseat him, esp when he is 24/7 guarded by crawlies.

Yew Kwong : the protective tai kor – well, if Robert or tim ah liu had continued beating up gangsters for fun, more likely YK wd hv become either’s tai por or ee lai.

Tim Liu : the jocker cum DOM – Jocker, what’s that? But tim ah liu was an amateur jockey of some calling in his younger days, riding hands & heels beating whip-riders without sweat. Dirty Old Man? Of cos not, everyone knows that. Decorated Outstanding Man…….heee paiseh leh.

  9. Hi Lily, Thanks for the welcome and the helpful brief introduction. I was searching the webblog to find out who runs the “fortress”. I only knew Terence was the founder, so your info came in very timely. Thanks!

I am sorry to hear about your situation. We are in the same boat so let’s paddle together, okay? Tim Tim Liu, watch out, here comes woman power!

Look forward to meeting you and the rest tomorrow night..

    Gingko

  10. Hello Tim Tim Liu,

The teaser at SHC, always clowning around and breaking rib-cages like there’s no tomorrow, so how are you?

It is good to know the assortment available. I like it. Can’t wait to find out more.

You reckon the naughty ones will descend like tons of rocks, huh? Well, don’t even think of it. They may change their mind when they meet this SUMO whose forte is not baseball bats or rolling pins, but bare hands that bash, smash, crush and whack the daylight out of them. Ever watch how those Indian women wash their laundry by the Ganges River?

The four-legged buayas are easier to handle. Throw them some plump meats, they will chomp, chomp, chomp, lay back lazily into their comfort zones and go Zzzzz like babies.

“Decorated Outstanding Man”? Sounds like you are an ornament or something. That gives me an idea. When I have a chance, I’ll be sure to adorn your ears with a pair of big gypsy earrings (at least 6” dia.) with a colourful parrot perching on each. To complete the decoration, will also stick a bone across your nose. How about that?

Don’t believe anyone could possibly be lonely with you around Tim Tim Liu!

Anyway, greatly appreciate the welcome. Will definitely get to see each other often at the SHC gatherings and events.

Till we meet, continue spreading the laughing gas…

    Gingko

  11. Ah Chan called me tim ah liu, now it’s tim tim liu but pls, never trim tim liu bcos he’s already grossly underweight.

Tim didnt just watch how those women wash their laundry by the Ganges River, he actually camped there to enjoy the sight, with them washing everythg and so couldnt wear anythg.

Without any of yr recommended decorations he’s already such a big draw. With yr endorsement & adornment hanging everywhere on him he’s going to arouse ah yew sor into drinking bottles of botax & wearing latex to look pretty. So, rather, let Terence hv yr plump meat, earrings, bones…….for his car boot sales, and if there’s still space in the boot, you will sit in there with SHC touting you as the Special Offer for the Opening Day.

Terence, can we call for a caravan boot?

  12. Hi Gingko,
Welcome on board the Flag Ship “SHC”. You will find that our SHC members are forever cheerful and helpful. While “setting sails” on monthly bassis for members to get together, we do have “canoeing, Yatching, Water Skiing, Dragon Boat Racing, etc….” on weekly or bi-monthly scheduling.
“……” means meeting, outdoor activities such as Nature Walking, Cycling, Overseas Trips, Line Dancing, etc….
You already know our ship’s captain at the Helm and perhaps some of the crews, engineers, doctors, etc…
All set for a smooth sails towards longivities, excellent health and wealth and not to forsake the important of companionship as we match each others interests in the course of our journey to complete our Silverhairs Years.
Once again a big welcome to you.

Ok, jokes aside, Patrick, what hv you been doing? You’re truly the original allrounder altho in yr absence, Ronald Wi has done his level best to provide cover by growing his moustache round his mouth & eating & eating but no matter how much he eats, he just cant be so round, all round and aiyo aiyo made a lot of sound when he tried to roll on the ground.

    So come join us lah…………..

  15. Hi Hi Dolly, I had a great time. Thank you! Good to meet up with you gals and guys… and the DESSERTs. You can be sure you will see me in many more outings to come.

    Cheers!

  16. Ahoy, Joy! Thanks!

Nutty? Well, I have good appetite for peanuts, cashew nuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, coconuts… nicknamed “gingko.nut”. I wonder if these have anything to do with it… you decide :O

Till we meet (hopefully, not in CANDID CAMERA,)cheers!

    Gingko

  17. Hi Patrick,

Thank you and well said. Indeed already at my first clubbing outgoing last night with some of crews, I felt as if I have known them for ages. I will definitely be participating in more activities to come.

Hope to see you around too,

    Regards,
    Gingko

  18. Hope to join all of you soon in the next meeting.
Well said Tim, I’m busy doing my extra miles or Kilometers not in running but in driving that Limo and Tour Guiding services.
Wish that I could steal some of the times to roundervous with you guys.
    Cheers.

  19. Hey Gingko, I found my lamb. Will bring the sweetie along on Sat. You can identify me when you see it alongside me, ok? Hope you don’t mind its baaing, hehehe.

  20. Aiyo, profile re-visited!

Mary’s lamb baaing? No, of course I don’t mind… But, but, but, what about the security? Bring it to the nearest restaurant to BBQ it?

  21. Oh no, my poor lamb! Oh the security knows me by now. Am I not THE MARY with her little lamb? All I need to do is flutter my eyelashes at him, hehe. So mustn’t forget to put on my false eyelashes , hahaha. C U all Saturday.

  22. Ya, and lift the corner of your skirt a little, ooops!

Mary, you mustn’t be flirting in this thread so openly like that…tsk, tsk. Now run along…

  23. Hi Gingko,

    I enjoyed your joke.

Are you for real for lifting your skirt a “LITTLE” in Orchard Road and the cars come to a HALT!

Or you have been very HUMOUROUS abt lifting your skirt a little that reminds me of the movie “PRETTY WOMAN.”

  24. Hi Gingko,
Thank you for arranging today’s lunch with Grace and Julie. I had a lovely time and am looking forward to meeting you all again, soon.

Some day, I hope to meet many of the other members too, perhaps next Saturday? :-)

  25. Hi Mary,
The suspense is over and I think by now you know I am opposite of what you think.
Glad you had a good lunch with Gingko, Grace and Julie. Any trips in the works.????
    Let me know.
    Tks & rgds……..Jie

  26. Hi Jie,
See, if you had your own profile, you wouldn’t have had to use Gingko’s. You should have joined us.
No plans yet butI’m hoping to go somewhere in Oct, even nearby. Need a “change of environment”. We should meet up too and maybe come up with something. I’m in Pasir Ris. Whereabouts are you?

  27. Hi Jie, that would be nice. Perhaps Gingko could arrange for you to join us on our next get together, ya Gingko?
Btw, Jie, “come up with something”? Like what? Can you suggest?

  28. My fair ladies Mary & Jie,

Ok, ok, I will arrange something. We will meet.

Jie says: “… meet and come up with something”. Hmmm… interesting!

Anyway, shall we discuss this subject behind my profile, please?

  29. Hi Gingko,

Nice to read your thread. I am not a good writer so just can not entertaint you all with lovely words. Ever thought of doing something for a change. I am into speculative trading and recently found a trading hub which also have a SOHO setup for any startup business.

  30. Hello Dennis,

My pleasure. Although we have not met, but I have been reading with great interest your comments that surface regularly of late.

Forex, investments, speculative trading etc. are rather heavy stuff for me, but I always feel it doesn’t hurt where gaining useful knowledge is concerned.

Thank you for the directing me to the link. Will surely have a look and give it some thoughts.

Dennis, I shall see you when I see you.

Meantime, happy trading and abundant $$$$$$ come rolling in… into your bank account. :-)

  31. Hi Gingko,

Tks for the encouragement. I saw your name for Pot Luck @Pasir Ris Park by Dennnis Wee. Look forward to taste your satay but not mutton or beef. So feel free to post question on my posting Stocks Investing, Sharing of Experiences. Hope you can gain some knowledge from there.
