The Salsacise seems interesting but Jln Bukit Merah.. (i live in North East (Serangoon North).
    Let me consider.

Ann Lim – is your line dance still on? Bradell heights is very near my place. How many lessons have passed already? (What is the fee, how many classes?)

  5. Hi Dan Huang,
    Apolgy accepted.
Those who have not met me make the same mistake.
    Then I tell them..Jie { G } as in the letter ‘G’ for girl.
See you at the 18 Sept meeting.

  6. Hi Dan,

Refer to your reply on Rock & Roll course.

If I cant get into R n R Course, Salsacise is fine with me.

    Please keep me inform.

    Thanks, Bessie

  7. Jie, I think guys are just too shy to participate. I can bet you, there will be more gals than guys.
In many group activities, gals always outnumber guys. I think women are more gregarious and guys tend to be loners.
Okie, going for lunch with my girls now. Cya later.

  8. Aiyah, Dan, You make me so “paiseh”. I don’t want to inconvenience any one.
I doubt if there is anyone in the east who will drive all the way to Bukit Merah to exercise, be it a guy or a gal.
Let me think about it ok? :-)

  9. Hi Mary,

Are you next? Don’t worry too much about the distance. We may have some guys in the class staying in the east where you may thumb a ride.

Otherwise, I volunteer to sent you to the nearest MRT. Or some of us may adjourn to have dinner together at East cOast hawker centre.

  10. Hi Dan Huang,
You sold me on the idea…..Am interested as I think I need the exercise and I love good music. If the class comes to fruition….count me in…..Tks & rgds……Jie

  11. OK then Dan. Hope to meet you at one of the dance classes.

I used to play badminton during my secondary school days but now I prefer dancing to running after, to quote Ron – very amusing “the white feathers”

  12. Hi Caroline/Mary Chan,

When the Rock and Roll was posted, the feedback was there may not be enough men. So, to solve the problem we shall have Salsacise, no partner required.

Distance wise is an issue here for both of you. We shall see the response, if we meet the minmum number, we shall go ahead.

Since you are aware that Marine Parade and Simei also hold such class, please go ahead. If the response here is not too good, I am prepared to join the Marine Parade or Simei class too.

Don’t let the travelling time be a hindrance. We just need to move our butts and start swaying.

Hi Lee ah Nee, yes dancing class are held all over Singapore. We just need someone like you to initiate it.

  13. Thanks Mary. I’ve gone through the social dance thing many moons ago. What I want is just rock and roll because if you have too many types of dances, they teach you the basics and before you can even master it, they move on to the next dance type.

Ah Nee,thats what I want lah. Dance and exercise the spare tyres away Ha! Ha!

  14. Ah Nee,
Yes salsacise is fun and you can have a great work out The Marine Parade CC has a class run by a guy called Albert I think. I used to attend his class too.
If you are interested, why not call the CC and inquire if there are any vacancies. His class is always packed. There is hardly enough space in the ballroom that he uses.
I think he has 2 classes back to back, but the second class is tough.

  15. Hi Mary & Caroline,

This is not a social dance class. Salsacise/Danceworks is a kind of aerobic combine with some dancing step in it. I have join this kind of exercise before and it is fun. Back to social dance, the shortage of men on the dance floor has always been a problem. I love dancing but I will never dance the male role :)

    Ah Nee

  16. Hi Caroline,
This lady instructor has a class on elementary social dance, that is, Cha Cha, Disco Rock, Rock n Roll starting on the 26th of September in Marine Parade. It will be on a Wednesday evening from 8.30 to 10pm.
I stopped going to Marine Parade as there is only one bus from Pasir Ris and it goes around the world before arriving at MP!
Why don’t you go ahead and join them. She’s a good teacher and patient too.
    Enjoy

  17. Yes! Yes! Mary. Pls do arrange, preferably in Marine Parade. Yes I am a Passion member so its good eh?

Pls keep me in the loop and many thanks :D

Looking forward to the exercise I can get out of dancing.

  18. Hi Caroline,
Re the R n R dance classes,it was good of Dan to arrange the classes but I don’t relish the thought of traveling that distance there and home.
Besides, the class is only 1 hour. Before you can even get to practise a few steps, it’s over.
Even with the usual one and a half hour classes I used to have, a lot of time is lost when people come late, as is bound to happen, and the instructor has to repeat the steps for their benefit or if he has to give his attention to those who cannot catch the steps etc. The rest just have to wait as he cannot play the music while instructing. So an hour is not sufficient really.
If several of you in the East are interested, I could ask my previous teacher if she is keen to start a class or if she has a class that is about to begin. She teaches in Simei and Marine Parade. There is another teacher in Simei who might also have some classes available.
These classes are conducted in the CCs and if you are a Passion member, there is a discount for you.
So, those of you in the East, if you are interested, let me know, but be prepared to dance the male role as there is usually a shortage of men. Hey men, don’t be shy to dance. Come and join in. You are welcome and please don’t take this as “pleading” ;-P hehe.

  19. Hi Dan, many thanks for arranging the dance classes.

I have always wanted to learn the rock n roll and would like to try the above jus for the workouts.

But Bukit Merah is quite far away and after the dance, must crawl a long way home.

If you ever have anything in the East, I would like to join in the lessons.

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee
