Here’s some thoughts on further relaxation into some of SHC policies

For a long time, we have been rather rigid on what can be done and cannot be done.  Our Club taboos are no discussions on politics, race, religion, sex, direct selling and MLM.  It is unlikely that we will relax our rules on no discussions on politics, race and religion.  At least, no for now.

Sex is a topic that is human, and I wish to clarify that “No sex” means “no discussions on “procurement of sexual servces”.  We have also relaxed in the area of direct selling, and this is limited to the Online Fleamart which comes out monthly, and products and services are of the non-corporate nature, and hosted by Jassmine Teo.  I would say Jassmine has done a good job, as our intention is to allow members to offer what they have at home.

Feedback from members have helped to streamline our thoughts on members’ businesses.  Most members are either still working and are enjoying a retirement life in some form of trading activities, casual sales or P/T work.  I hope to relax this area to enable members to offer some of their corporate products and services.  This can be tricky as we would not want to have direct selling and product offerings during our gatherings and in our forum.  A number of members have responded to our recent email on providing some of their company products and services at special offers.  As usual, and in principle, the Club will relax this policy.  Along the lines of how we operate the online Fleamart, I would also be looking out for someone who would be willing to run this service in our forum on a regular and monthly basis.  If you like to, feel free to write to me.  Questions ok.

SHC will go more agressive in ourn efforts to enlist Corporate members from either among the current membership or new memberships.  Free corporate membership is no longer available.  Members or companies wishing to be Corporate members can write to admin@SilverHairsclub.com.

On the registration of new and maintenance of old membership, please be inform that all members must have an username and password to enter SilverHairsClub.com.  If you have not registered to enter the Club, please do so.  The register link is on the top right hand side of SilverHairsClub.com.  If you have lost your password or username, please re-register.  The Club will no longer manually reset your password.

With effect from Jan 2014, your email address will be used as username.  Your password has to be at least 7 characters.  This will enable you to log in into the Club.  Members are reminded not to register any person whose membership has lapsed.  All members are encouraged to register and participate in the Club, using their own username (email address) and password.

Introducing new members to the general membership has been found to be useful as new members may not know how to walk around the SHC website.  Robert Ong has volunteered to take this role, and if you are very shy, and not sure how to post your intro,  well, get to know him.  He is very knowledgeable and helpful.  But, make sure you have your username and password first.

The new SHC committee has been trying hard to do a good job, maintaining the social requirements of members.  This is not easy, and it does take time for the committee and myself to sync in thoughts and actions.  Neither do I expect no changes.  Please be patient, and if you have any queries, do consult them.

Have a good week ahead.
