Pictures of 18 Sept 2007 SHC monthl gathering

The Sept gathering was just over.  Held at the Hans Cafe @ Great Eastern, this monthly gathering was divided into two groups.  The first – for the Retired SilverHairs, and the second – for the still working SilverHairs.  In some cases, we were not able to tell who’s retired and who’s still working.

The late afternoon to early evening sessions were very enjoyable, and many SilverHairs get to meet the people whom they have read about on the SHC forum, but not met earlier.

Here are the pictures, for your review.  Click here.

  1. Terence and Everybody I met at the gathering yesterday.
You are all such a nice friendly bunch, I felt very welcome indeed. Thank you all, especially Terence, for making me feel at home.
There were so many new faces and names, I still can’t quite recall some when I look at the photos which Terence had taken.
It was great to meet all of you. :-)

  3. Hi All
Nice meeting up at the group gathering. Although I have not remembered all names yet, at least we have met and introduced.
Its my first time at the gathering and am glad to have joined the warm and friendly people of SHC. Thank you Terence for the nice pictures.
BTW for the group, I am wearing light purple skirt and blouse.
Terence, Catherine Yeo, Jie, KT Wong,Chris Chan, Steven Chan,Edwin Ong, Mary Chan-thanks for making me comfortable and you all are so nice and friendly.Too bad I missed Michelle.

  4. Norlinda,
I was hoping to meet you but had to leave at 6pm. In fact, I dwadled 5 more mins to see if you and some of the others would come.

Easy. I’m the 4th person in the picture with Jie, Dennis Wee and Ronald Wie.

  5. oh..u in blue blouse?…hhmmm, u look like my fren..i was looking hard, trying to recall..this girl look familiar?? hehehe::)
btw…most of our ‘gang’ didnt turn up yesterday..that’s why u cant see our ‘pretty’ faces in the photo album!..hahaha!…just teasing u only lah!

  6. Its was a bad hair day.

The picture caught me looking like a sleaze ball in a gay bar. No, I was not hugging Dennis. I was trying to get him to lend me his comb before the shot.

Can the photographer please remember that we are Silverhairs. At our age, we take much more time to put the pieces together before we are picture ready. Instead of looking photogenic, we turn out photo-disgenerated.

  7. Now, about the new group proposal. What happended to the idea of the Central Group and its first makan sutra project.

Talking about Jalan Kayu how about a tour to the last of the organic farms in Singapore. Combine this with makan for a great outing.

“Today, Jalan Kayu predominantly comprises high-tech farms. There are a few mushroom farms here, which grow pesticide-free organic mushrooms. Examples are Mycofarm and Golden Mushroom Enterprises. There is also a cluster of fish farms and aquariums, such as Sanyo Aquarium and Golden Tropical Fish. These aquariums deal mostly in freshwater fish, catering to both wholesale and retail customers. There are also a number of gardening and landscaping services in the area.”

  8. Hi Terence n those SHCs that I got to speak to, all of u are so friendly n I really enjoyed myself.
From the pics I realise that there are a no. of SHCs that I didn’t get to know….maybe at the next gathering/outing.

  9. Hey Margaret,
it was nice meeting you. Don’t let the fact that we are almost at opposite ends of the island stop you from getting together, ok?

We can always meet halfway, for lunch or whatever or visit the others’ “territory” for something or other. In fact, that should be the way.

Why seggregate the different districts? Aren’t we all here to have a fun time and not to “compete” as some seem to be doing?

When one district comes up with something, I feel that it should be thrown open to everyone at SHC.

    Enjoy Margaret. :-)

  10. Charles,
Thank you for that sweet compliment.
Eh? Didn’t I meet a Charles at the gathering? If you are the same Charles, I’m devastated.
:-( You can’t remember me? Oh well, I guess I am not young enough or pretty enough to remain in your memory, hehe.
The one in blue is Grace, the pretty and younger one. I’m much older lah.

  11. Mary Chan, Of course I remembered but i got confused by item 4 comments above which says you are –” the 4th person in the picture with Jie,Ronald,& Dennis” That also charming lady is in blue, not black. ha ha.
Now after this episode I can never forget you!!

  12. Charles,
after taking a look at the photos, I remember who you are.
Btw, you are the one with that “Reflections” poem right?
Are you in the east? Perhaps you could be the one Terence was hinting about the potluck in Oct?

  13. Charming ladies are all around!! Mary and Charles thanks for your compliments. Delighted to have met all at the recent gathering.
Am still giving some tots on the Central Group and would appreciate knowing majority’s interest. Any ideas suggested will be most welcome. Anyone? I actually started, press wrong button and it got posted. Sorry it’s incomplete :( and am seeking Terence for rectification for re=posting, hence please bear and a proper one will up in due course.

  14. Though I have just registered as a member last week, I brought along 4 of my retiree friends to the informal gathering on 18 Sep 07. They thoroughly enjoyed theselves and noted the friendly atmosphere and nice gentlemen and ladies. We will come again next roung. We have also started to read the postings and sought to find our little interests in the sub-activities of the Club.

    Thank you all so much.
