  1. Dan, you are cute. Event agoniser. Very funny indeed. And there you go banging your head again…

I must say that you never give up, whether it is trying to organise an activity or trying to get into Oxford Hotel for Talentime 2007. I admire that attitude of yours.

  2. Dan, you did it! =D> Location/time: superb!
How to say No? when I’ve said Now or Never…
    moreover, a ‘plus’in my ‘List of Desires&Wants – Achieved!’

but, it is sooner than I expect ;)
mmhmmm Wednesday is good though might miss a lesson. Thursdays, will miss 2 or 3 lessons. So, Wednesday, it shall be for me.
    Thanks* Dan.

Grace, partner or no, never mind… let’s get on with the steps first lor.

Guys! Guys! hey wanna rock? anyone?
dun be shy, never too late to learn. There ain’t many steps to remember. I think I’ve got 2 left feet, but what’s the problem huh?
Still can Rock one. Besides, it is good therapy to laugh at one’s own ‘miss-es’ and soon u’ll be prancing :D

I did that on 15Sep, I mean laughing away at my own ‘miss-es’ but then, I gotta feel of that steel! my spirits were up …My gain!

  3. Hi Dan,

I will consider Social “B” with Social Cha Cha instead of Off-beat Cha Cha.

The venue seems so remote. For a moment, I thought it was next the Singapore Casket ;-)

  4. wey wey me & Grace will not dance with the invisible, right, Grace, cos we have HIM to protect us! hor
BTW, it is 2 streets away lah, walking distance from Lavender MRT. no wonder, Dan has the image of ‘banging ag the wall’ hahahahah

  5. Dan,
You can be the partner for all the girls who sign up mah. That way, you get a lot of practice leh. The girls will all line up and you dance with one after the other. ;-P

  6. Christina, you bet .. apart from Dan Huang … Guys do join in the fun. Since we are all beginners let’s get into the steps first. If we make mistakes it’s alright just laugh among ourselves. Well, do join d’crowd. Dan has worked very hard to organize this event and certainly we would not want to see him “banging the wall” lest we will be short of one male partner — aiyo yo —

  7. Hi,

We have Michelle, Bessie,Dan,Grace, Gingko for Thursday session and Christina for Wednesday.

Okay, we go for the Thursday session, Christina, okie with you?

    All okay with Social B?

    Ivy/Eliza, okie with you two?

    John Howe/Dennis Wee, coming?

  8. Hi Dan,

At last, im back to tis website. MIA for a few days bcos my laptop mia.
I will follow the flow if majority are joining the thurs session. But, i will hv 2 miss the 2nd lesson on 11Oct bcos i hv Octoberfest dinner on dat evening.

  9. Hi Hi,

With Veron and Lin Tan in, we are going ahead full steam.

Any more guys have the courage to sign up? Otherwise, poor me, what to do with so my gals around me. Must make sure I bring along a bottle of Goji juice.

Like they say, a merry heart doeth good like a medicine, we will laugh at ourselves, laugh at one another and get rejuvenated like the eagle.

One day, I believe that each of us who dare to take up this challenge, in spite of the lack of guys will say ‘I could have dance all night’!

  10. Hi hi Boon Liang,

Where are you? Are you coming to join us? After dancing, we can go for sashimi at your favourite haunt.

So many gals and only Dan, the man. After one round, he will mixed up all their names.

  11. AnnToHo… come lah, join in the fun, we shall all laugh till peng san…yet get nimble on our feet.

I will try to reschedule & free my Thurs to ‘Dance ALL nite long’!

  12. Thanks for the call Chris. Much as I like, but can only do it on Wed nights. Gonna miss the fun…sob…sob…

Hey, how about getting Dan to bring along his male friends… just like what we did in our younger days. That’s how a party starts…

  13. Dan,
I would like to support you. Since it’s going to be Social B, I will join in although I don’t like the Offbeat cha cha much.
I like the rock n roll and the waltz, so sign me on.

  14. Hey GUYS!
It’s not that I’m desperate for a MALE partner, but I pity poor Dan. Join in lah.

See if I can remember some names.

LAWRENCE, HARRY, CHARLES, ALFRED, DANIEL, STEVEN, RONALD, ROLAND, EDMUNDO, RICKY MARTIN and the others whose names elude me at the moment ;-p
….. come on, be a sport.

DENNIS, he came all the way to walk with us in Pasir Ris! Support him leh.

At the risk of sounding presumptuous, I will try to help with the dance steps if you need my help, ok?
    So come on guys!

    MaryC

  15. Christina, thank for freeing yourself for the Thursday session.

Mary, thank for supporting, I see whether can request change to social cha cha instead of off-beat cha cha.

Annto, male friend?, will try to crack my head.

SHC guys, come and keep all these gals company! Ronald Lee/Wie, Andrew Yeung, Patrick Yeo, Daniel Chan, Steven Chan, John Seah, Yew Kwong and Terence. Where are you?, the ladies are waiting!!

  16. Hi Dan…good try….and thanks.
Event agoniser – very apt indeed. Not easy hoh?
I would like to wriggle my tummy and bummy a bit but I cannot avail myself in October. It is O level exam time…aaarrrrhhhhhh…how did i get involved in exam….at this age ???

  17. Dan

I wonder how you pick the shuttlecock at Mt Faber Safra and do your cha cha at Lavender, King George’s Building on the same day & almost same time. I am lost where to head to for your activities in October?
You are good at playing “Double”???

  18. Hey Dan,
Pls don’t change any of the dances. The others may prefer the Offbeat chacha to the “normal” one. I’m ok with either as both are not quite my favourite anyway.
Thanks for being so accomodating. :-)

  19. Aiyo, Dan, just wen i m abt keen on badminton, u chg day liao.. heng ah.. bo buy racket.

So Lily/Molly/Ron, wun be joining u all next Wed liao, me got class.. sayonara… Dolly

  20. Dan,
Is the instructor a male? That makes 2 men. Ask him if he can get one or two of his present students to come in to assist him lah. That was what my instructor used to do.
Otherwise, you poor thing, will have to work like a dog.Hehe

  21. hi Dan,

sorry, didn’t log on until now. so much running around until became groggy. and now, sick!

yes, I want to be a student too although I might not be able to attend every session. Ok? Before things get going I will need to get my physiotherapist to loosen all the joints first.

Offbeat cha cha? not bad what. I can get the getai organisers to recruit us as backgound dancers when getai comes around next year. we can more than recoup our cost for this course! Ladies, does it sound good?

  22. Hi Steven, thanks for your recommendation. Gigolos! It’s sound very demeaning!

It’s all add up, isn’t it. Chest games, Bedminton. You solved the puzzles!

John Howe, welcome, welcome! Now I see some rays of hope! I like the getai idea too, yes we could recoup our courses fees in no time.

Dennis, elementary stage. Another ray of hope?

Grace, yes it confirmed. meet at the venue on 4th October at 7.00pm for registration!

  23. Uh-oh

Just gotten into the swing of badminton and the day changed. Me got class on Wed also. So, sayonara. Oh well, no badminton – back to line dancing on Thurs, or at Toa Payoh if Molly can get court.

  24. V.sorry Dan if I hurt your feelings.

It was my mistake to put fun but it turn out to be too sensitive.

Learn from my mistake next time do not assume all can take such “jokes” from attending yesterday talk.

    1000 Apologies,
    Steven Chan

  25. Steven, not at all!.

Just that your comment may affect all the male species and certainly you are not speaking for yourselves?

Aiyah Lily, should I change the social dance to Wednesday instead?

  26. Assuming Joy’s right and it’s Dan solo to twinkle his toes with 11 gals……………at the end of 1 session, it’s not off-beat chacha for him but put thru an orbit revolving round ooolong the chachas and for the days following, he’ll see only stars and 1 standard reply to anythg asked of him “gaga gaga………”

  27. Dan,

It takes 7 to start a class. You have now 13 participants; 1 more to make 2 classes. Why not have 2 classes running then, 1 on each day (Wed & Thurs). Members could also “swap” lessons with each other to suit their schedules, ie, shd the need arise.

Speaking more for my own interest… becos class is ok for me on Wed.

Boon Liang, where are you? Tot u expressed int in the salsacise last Sat. Anyway I’ve learnt of a good (yet not too exp) venue for sashimi. We can go after class, tog with Veron & Gingko. How abt that?

  28. Hello there,
how on earth did my name landed in this thread huh? Dan, can see you are desperate and frustrated but your dear SHC kawan here is residing in HK now. Wish I could give my support. Anyway, happy swinging…

  29. Ivy, I was surprised too that your name appeared here..but thinking it might be another Ivy low also so never ask you though I knew you are in HK,(not sure of the actual date of
your arrival) but members knew u will be back in october.

  30. Hi Annto,

I like your idea. What I am worry is last minutes dropout. Aiyah, now you make me ‘kepala pusing’.

Hi Ivy, thank for responding. Perhap you can join us for the next session. That is provided I survive this upcoming class.

Tim, are you a potential candidate?

Mary Chan, to answer your question. We will have a male and a female teacher to teach us. They will also try to get some guys to help us.

I need to submit a list of participants to the school. Can you all kindly sms me at 90996602 or email to ‘danmag@starhub.net.sg’

  31. No worry …No cloning of another Ivy Low hehe..
Seventh month is over and let’s welcome the 8th month…(Sitting at your balcony…eating your delicious moon cake with a cup of chinese tea ..looking ahead and thinking of the SHC??)
Have enjoyable moments with your loved ones and a happy mooncake festival too!! See u back soon **

  32. tim can consider candidacy for the top job but that’ll come in several more years so meanwhile still happy to play bedminton and see how fast you run after feathers & hair…….

  33. Hi all

Happy dancing ya! you will love it. I have been dancing for a long time already. Will join you once you have the basic. Will go down to have a look too.

Molly – are you joining? We can do the disco rock together.

  34. Hi Tim/Dennis,

Sad lah, both of you cannot join us.

Sure Molly, Gwen, come and give us moral support.

I am still waiting for 2 ladiea by the initial ILow and Eliza to response, any body know them?

I need to submit names and contact nos. to the school. Those of you who have not done so, please notify me.

  35. Dan, Ms Ivy Low resides in HK lah. Unless she has wings and could spread them, it would be terribly expensive for her to come over every week to join your dancing class.

I wonder did you forget your daily ginkgo dosage, or have you been taking OOOOOlong again… ;-)

  36. Hi Annto, unable to recall I was interested in Salsacise, may have join in the topic but what can I say, it’s already almost midnite. Well, I would like to join Dan & John to be on the dance floor but with my work schedules, afraid I may not be able to attend half of the total 8 lessons. Perhaps some other times. thks

  37. Dan, right now, I still prefer sports/games to dancing like the badminton you’ve organised which I enjoy, thanks.

The day will come when, by chance, I take that all-important glance, mesmerised and start to dance till I am in a trance, and when that happens, pls call the ambulance…………….

  38. Dan

Dan, sorry for the late reply. I am OK with A or B provided it is in town. Available on Thurday time 7pm or 7.30pm is fine with me. But I can only learn the girls’ step no male partner how?

Let me know once event is firmed.

    Thks
    Eliza

  39. Eliza,

The event is confirmed. Only two guys signed up.

Beside the two of us, we have one male coach. The three of us will be rotated. We just have to make do with this for the moment.

Please text me your contact nos.

  40. hi Mary, your comment above #53 really makes me nervous. I’ve told you my moves are all very rusty, so I think you might want to take up some kind of insurance, hahaha! have fun, Mary.

    regards…john howe

  41. Hi Gwen,
Disco Rock is my favourite dance. Rock & Roll still practicing but need a good partner to lead. Will arrange dancing at my club on one of the evenings and invite you along.
I am now also interested in latin dancing after watching the ppl dance. You will enjoy too but definitely need a partner to go along.

Dan – Will give you all the moral support. Just let us know and we will be there.

Bessie – Have not seen you at the club for a long time? Are you coming this thursday???

    Cheers…. Molly

  42. Hi Molly/Gwen,

Thanks again for your moral support!

Jie, are you coming for the social dance class?

John Howe, don,t worry too much. Though I have learn Waltz and Rumba before, I practically returned what I learned back to the teachers.

Now I am concern too whether my brittle bones will allow me to sway and wriggle about. My ex even commented that my dance movements is just like lugging a fridge along!

Now, i am agonising whether i made the right move to learn social dance and pulling all of you along.

  43. Hi Dan,
Did not realise you had my name down for the Social dance. I usually just skim down the ‘LATEST COMMENTS’. Would have liked to join you all but I will be house bound for the month of October looking after my 90 year old mother, as my maid will be having her Hari Raya holiday in Indonesia. Maybe the next session.
I am sure this first will be successful, despite the teething problems.
    Tks and rgds……………..Jie

  44. Aiyah John Howe,
Just kidding lah. We are all there to enjoy each other’s company and have fun. :-)
We will laugh and learn, especially laugh, you can be sure of that.:-D
Just relax and soon your feet will do its work.

  45. Dan,

don’t worry about the hip swaying thing lah.

Remember we are all silverhairs and some of our joints are probably almost fused together already, ;-).

We should be happy already if our feet can move with the beat.

    So, let’s DANCE!

  46. Dan:

I’m now having butterflies in my tummy! I don’t know what I got myself into. You are No.1 and I’m No.12 and in between are all our nice ladies, I just discovered! I don’t know whether to run or rejoice. What about your fridge? I think you downsize it to the bartop type – not so strenous.

    Mary:

You are so re-assuring but now the more I think about my response to join in, the more nervous I become. Perhaps the medicines I was taking the past few days clouded my ability to visualize everything in their proper perspective. How come the other ladies are keeping so quiet? Very frightening leh!

With regards…from a very confused John Howe now.

  47. Hi John,

Like Mary commented, we are going to enjoy ourselves. Don’t ever let me hold the fort alone!

This is a lifetime dream. To be able to hold ourselves and to make the ladies proud. We got to give all we have. Don’t forget we are actually doing some good to our bodies with all the swinging and swaying.

The ladies will be glad that we dare to take the initiatives, to learn the dance steps, to laugh at ourselves and to cherish the times together.

Ultimately. it is the challenge to dare to try, whether we succeed or not, the joy is in the struggle to learn new thing.

  48. Gd morning John,
Hope you are more “intrepid” ;-) this morning? Don’t worry lah. It’s lots of fun.
I will dance with you even if no one else will ok? :-)
    See you there.

  49. Hi John,

You said “…downsize it to the bartop type…”. For a moment, you got me all excited. I thought you meant POLE DANCING. Wow! with you and Dan wriggling & twirling around the poles and all the ladies on the floor clapping & cheering, isn’t that fun??

    Mine, I can’t wait for October 4 to come…

  50. Hi Mary Chan,

Refer #22, I’m hiding… I like watchg dancing, like recently d shw ,’U think u can dance’, somthg like tat.. which I watched d whole series. I wish I can dance but my legs don’t co-operate leh. Put it simply, ‘..I’m shy’.. plus on so many ladies in tis class & more than 1 style of dancing… more mah loo.

I better not talk too much…

    sincerely, Lawrence

  51. hi Dan:

pardon me if I had sounded like I was abandoning ship. No, that thought was furthest from my mind, was just thinking out loud, so to speak! Come hell or high water, I’ll show up.

    hi Mary:

thanks for your very encouraging words. yes, more intrepid this morning. hope it stays this way until the day of reckoning. like they say, “die, die must try (must jive?)”

    hi Gingko:

aiyoh, pole dancing not at this stage leh. see how I progress with this one first. if can pass, then pole dancing should be no sweat. by the way, you think pole dancing is easier?

you all are simply fantastic! only regret is not having met all of you earlier!

    with kind regards…john howe

  52. Hey John Howe, it’s very nice of you to stay on to keep Dan accompany. Whatever thought that comes you must show – yeah?

I personally have not done any of these steps before unlike some who had basic lessons in the past. I foresee making mistakes during the sessions however, I believe we will all end up having a great time!

Hellooo Lawrence, dont be shy leh. Since you like to watch dancing then come to the “real dance” and join in fun :)

  53. Hi Gingko,

Wow you are all excited; looking forward to the BIG DAY :P .. me too..

Pardon for this question – any idea if normal shoes are fine or special dancing shoes are needed ?? ooops still wondering !!! :(

  54. Hi Molly

For Disco Rock and Rock N Roll I am able to lead. For other dances like jive etc. the male steps are different.

John – Age is only a number, think young and you will feel young.Start dancing and your body will change and be more flexible. If you dont start now you never will.Every day is a day ahead.
    Happy Learning and dancing!!!

  55. Hi Lawrence,
There’s gotta be a first time for everything. Most of us are new and I’m sure just as nervous and shy as you are.
With regards to there being so many ladies, you should look upon that as having more opportunity to practise with them.
Come lah. Don’t be shy. We will all enjoy and laugh at our mistakes and improve with time.
I’m looking forward to dancing with you. :-)

  56. What to wear for your dance lesson
    ———————————-
If you do not wish to buy a pair of social dance shoes until you are certain you want to continue long term, then wear something with leather sole. Hard plastic or hard rubber sole will do also. Most low-heel pumps for ladies usually fit the bill. To test, do a twist on hard surface flooring. If you cannot twist easily, you shouldn’t be wearing it to dance class.

Avoid shoes that are too loose and come off easily. Ladies avoid very high heels – it will hurt your feet and cause backache. Slippers, slip-on and sandals are not suitable for any kind of dancing. Shoes with rubber soles especially slip-proof type can sprain your ankle.

If you intend to buy but don’t want to spend too much, OG sells cheap dancing shoes for about $30-$40 a pair and there are quite a number of designs to choose from.

A proper pair of shoes will make dancing more enjoyable. Have fun, ladies and gentlemen. :)

  57. Hi Grace,

Yeh, the BIG DAY is slowly approaching and steaming up.

Frankly, I don’t like “dancing shoes”, but I don’t mind ballet shoes. Whatever… I am going to start with high-heel shoes with mini flirting skirt, heehee. Ooops! Lawrence will be watching.

Guess will master my dance steps first, then invest in a proper pair of dancing shoes before I fall flat on my nose wearing improper ones.

  58. Lawrence – I have met you and I know you aren’t shy. Come and join in. After the lesson, we can all go for “butter and jam” sessions. Don’t you like that?

John – Pole dancing is easy! I do it all the time… in the train. Leaning against it.

  59. Gingko – it’s d dance movmt tat I’m shy of. At this hr to reply u, I’m actually belly sleepy but, u make me laugh n laugh. W/u & Joy, I think I comment less, lest I don’t know where to hide myself.

I found it funny, tmr u eat sushi at one place n appear dancing at anothr – how do u do it hah?

    Didn’t know u sign-up too(serious). I think I better bow out othwise mati-jiak-curry.

To All – tmr nite I hv an apptmt alrdy… am still thinking hard (now 2:24am). Not sure is d event starting tmr n ard wat time. Where’s d location oso don’t know exactly.

    Gooood nite

  60. Hi John Howe,

Thanks for holding on. For a moment, I thot that you would leave me in the lurch of these ladies.

I admire your spirit to stay on. I also ‘die die, must jive’. Otherwise, we may never have another chance to take up dancing.

Grace, Gingko, Mary, if you are not certain of the place, meet me at Lavendat MRT at 6.45pm. We will walk together to the dance venue.

Lawrence, come lah! I am sure you would enjoy the company of these ladies . You won’t want to miss the fun, the laughter and the hilarious times of learning to dance!

Hi Lily, thanks a lot for your comment in the types of shoes to wear.

  61. Gd morning Lawrence.
It’s not tomorrow. The dance class will begin NEXT Thursday. No more excuses lah, ;-)

Come, join us. Lose your inhibition a little and have fun and you will pick up some steps.

  62. Hello Boys & Girls,

Here I come, rushing to meet the deadline today. Decided to join you guys and gals for some “char char” action!

Dan, you still got little room to go up to your nose ya, even though you are all tied up with activities up to your neck. Please cater time to practise the steps with us, all ladies b4 each lesson date hor!

Now, you can start to agonize what Q number to give to which lady first.

    Cheers
    Rene :)

  63. Hi Rene,

Welcome on board, finally you could free yourselves!

Certainly will find time to dance with all of you. Once we get started and get the kick we will head for the Dance floor at Safra Mount Faber.

Need your contact for submission to the school, please sms or email me. Those who have not given me your contact, please do so.

Yes Mary, meet at the control station. Those who are not certain of the place, please meet here.

  64. Hi Janet,

Welcome on board! Glad you can join in the fun. Maybe later can drag your hubby along.

Dennis, you see, so many ladies are rallying for you. Come lah!

Rene, if you are not certain, it okay. We are always there for you.

  65. Alamak! Lawrence, I am having sashimi Wed. which is today, and dancing will be Thur, a week away. Dan has lined me up in Q6 but you are still no where. At 2.30am your belly is very sleepy but your eyes obviously terribly unclear. About time you join Dan’s troop for the GOJI pleasure juice.

This dance class is HOT! Lawrence, Lawrence hesitate no more…

  66. Hello Janet Heng,

Comment #54 – Dennis Wee has taken a RAINCHECK? It must be soggy wet by now. Wonder when is he going to return with a SUNSHINE one.

Hey, hey Dennis Wee are you still recce..ing in the Pasir Ris mangrove swamps? Are you ready to come join us?

  67. Gingko:

I cannot tahan you already! Everytime I read your comments I laugh until my tummy aches. By the time Oct 4 is upon us, I think you’ll have to prop me up.

    Lawrence:

you don’t feel paisei ha? with more and more ladies signing up, it makes men look like a rare commodity. it can’t remain like this leh, with Dan n me! getting very chialat. Dennis is taking a raincheck. You want to take a tsunamicheck? Woi Lawrence!!!

    Rene n Janet:

welcome also from me, with bravery thru the kind courtesy of Mary Chan. by the way, please buy some insurance also, in case I make you twist n turn until you are so twisted that you cannot regain your posture. hehehe

till the next laughabout, have a nice day. yours truly…johnhowe

  68. Hi Dan,

And to All ladies, thk u so much of ur encouragemt. Dan, I’m belly stressful can still register meh? I heard hor, someone sprained his foot n can’t join ur class. Dancing so serious ah?… This morng I discovred 10 strand of my hair turn fr silver to white leh. Can still join? If u say, ok…then ok loh.

  69. Hi John Howe,

Don’t sabo me like tat leh, I got high blood pressure u know. I like relax, relax n sit undr a coconut tree n sip coconut juice. Btw did sign up f/my Makan Trail West hah?.. hehehe :D

  70. Hi Lawrence,

Have I met you before, is it at the Mt Faber walk?

Welcome on board the ship to melodyland with beautiful music and prancing and pretty ladies to dance with. You finally come to your senses and decided to join us.

Don’t worry about your fallen hair. At most we go for the shaven look like Victor. Like the pirate of the Carribean we can make do with scarfs on our heads and looking very dashing with it.

Mary, Gingko, John Howe, our patient are rewarded. Lawrence is willing to brave with us the task of learning to dance at our precarious age.

  71. John ah, your surname shd be Haw lah. You are so hilarious, I laugh every time I read your comments. We are going dancing, not wrestling. Don’t worry, we ladies will be gentle with you, hehehe.

  72. Hi Dan

I did not sign up but wud like to go & give moral support like Molly. Who knows if I am hook with interest, I might join in the next time..he..he.. can or not ?

    Cheers,
    Susan

  73. Hi All, I’m back fr apptmt

Dan said in My ‘Makan Trail West’:
“Count me in. Don’t want to miss the fun. In fact, I am living quite close by,

Been to Villa Bali once. Sat on the floor and having candlelight dinner. Imagine after dinner I couldn’t get up. Got to call the ambulance!”

Wow! My eyes pop out, man! Makan also can cause to call ambulance. Wat abt dancing, Dan? Scary oso hor… Wait, my eye-ball rolls out…let me insert it back. Ah…may b we need standby MO. I just rec’d a call fr Phua Chu Kang n he said he lend his yellow boots to me as exxtra protection f/dancing..ok to use, Dan? I think it’s safer.

Your story(Dan) haven’t ended leh…u like Gingko to complete f/u?

I end here n go to bed early if not hor, more hair loss.

Gooood nite & hv sweet dreams, :-)

  74. Lawrence Khan:

Wonderful move, you deserve a pat on your shoulder. Your belly stressful will turn out belly hilarious.

    Dennis Wee:

Aiyoh dont take so long to decide lah! come dance with us…..

    Cheers … Grace Kok

  75. Hi Sue,

You are welcome to drop by and give us your moral support. Pretty sure that after watching us learning to dance, you will jump in and join in the fun.

Lawrence, at our age, what have we not seen or do. So don’t be surprise if something actually happened! Did you say your eyeball fell out and you have to put it back!

Talking of hair, I have try all kind of ‘soil’, but not successful at all. Should I go back to my closet and look for my toupee again!

Grace, in the same vicinity of French Road. Let me do a recce of the place and get back to you as to where to park.

Don’t ever bring the yellow boots. We are required to invest in a pair of dancing shoes.

  76. Lawrence, that’s marvelous! Finally, you are cajoled and I noticed Dan has immediately stenciled & choped you “Lawrence Khan (of Arabia)”. Looks like you are ready for the slaughter house.

Popping your eyes in and taking them out, will only hasten the process of you losing your eye lashes. Talking about your strands of falling silver hairs.

Lawrence – No, not yellow boots. For you, it must be a pair of solid bright RED cha kiat (wooden clogs). The rest of us will dance Cha Cha, and you can weave & wave across the dance floor with your clogs clattering away cha kiat, char kiat…

Dan – Lawrence might not always be so lucky to put his eye balls back. If he is not quick enough, these may just roll, roll, roll away… 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock… rock, rock, rock…

  77. Hi Dan.

With regard to your “soil” try Regraine. You can get one from Guardian and try it out. It made claims that this is one of the most successful “soil” brand in the market and is expensive too after many yrs, of Sciencific research.

    Steven

  78. Hi Dan,

Sorry, 7 early 8 morning (hokkien) being lor so, I’m still abit blur. Here r some concern:

    1. Where to get dancing shoes?
    2. What othr gears to bring beside my legs?
    3. When & where to pay?
    4. Can’t make it at 7:00pm on tat day….7:30pm alrdy very rush for me. (Hv helicopter service?

One more last important questn. Can tie up Gingko for me or not?

Note: Hp# send. Funny.. my family name descended fr Mongolia now to Abrabia???

  79. Steven, yes I have tried Regain. doesn’t really help.

Lawrence, dancing shoes can be purchased at the school. $70 for guys and $50 for gals. No gear required. Just bring your legs! Pay on the spot.

Better late than never! Yea Gingko, you always make us go nutty! So much so that we have to climb trees and start swinging around!

KT, good idea, I may just take you on your suggestion!

  80. Hi Gingko
Thanks for yr reminder abt Dennis’ raincheck. However, still waiting for his response and hoping that he will help his men friends cos they are outnumbered by us ladies.I have never been to a dance class and am now stepping out to have fun.

    Hi Clara
U saw my registration but what about u?Come and join us, ok?

    Hi Mary
With u around, there is always fun and laughter!

    Have a good day,
    Janet

  81. Lawrence, you have a horse, own a camel and now you want helicopter service. Aiya, you this Sheikh very kang kor. There’s no helipad nearby dance studio, but casket not too far away. So careful, careful hor.

You ask Dan to tie Gingko up, are we switching tune to RODEO dance? If it’s true, I want, I want. But calf-roping, arm-roping, waist-roping, neck-roping you can have them all. Monkey business … climbing trees, tossing coconuts & swinging around, you and Dan can share. Cackle.. cackle.. cackle…

Aiyo, Dan whose side are you on? Are you having a hangover? Didn’t the Geisha do a good job serving you Sake last evening?

  82. Hi Dan, Janet, Gingko & Grace,

Thanks 4 asking me 2 join you ppl. I reli like 2 but had attended the dance course (at elementary stage) 3 times alredi. The last 1, 6 mths ago, Sori ladies and gentleman.
    Hapi dancing

    Cheers
    Dennis

  83. Wow Dennis – that makes you an expert dancer! We are still short of guys. Anyway, if have time join Molly and Susan – come support. Who knows your feet will start tapping and you can dance away with us – I am just being rather hopeful so that the others wont have to work so hard around the ladies. Nite2 zzzzz :>

  84. Dennis, now we understand your hesitation! Don’t worry we will have plenty of opportunities to form dancing sessions.

Dance Floor at Safra Mount Faber, Safra Tampines have their Music Room, Serangoon Garden Country Club and the dance lounge at Aranda Country Club are possible venue.

  85. Ron Lai and wife Alice are season dancers. Hope we can rope them in for assistance.

Lily Ho and accomplices are dance enthusiasts. Really need your support to get the dance sessions or jams going!

Christina Chan and Michelle, need you contact for submission to the school. Please respond!

  86. Hellooo Dolly Lim, li ai comm#122 gin wu sai leh…hahaha. Btw I don’t c ur name in d list.

To all those whom we cajole, don’t worry… I shy, shy n die die oso go… come leh.

  87. Hello Dolly, can can clap you hands and legs. Slowly and surely we will learn to dance

Like John Howe and Lawrence commented, ‘die die must jive’.

Only one live, must learn to jive. Otherwise live with eternal regret!

  88. Wahpiangz.. Lawrence, u need 2 spelt my name 2 get my attn meh.. hehehehe…
of cos i bo name la.. me belongs 2 lily’s kakis le..

  89. Hi Molly,

I miss you and all the dancing kakis.

  90. Helloo Dan, I thought I’ve signed up and confirmed already..? You were asking for sth but now I cant find that comment. … sorrie cant keep my eyes open I’ll buzz u tmr..

  91. Dan, Thnk u 4 ur understanding.I still owe u a beer..wen can we haf it?…hey, hw abt me dropping by in 1 of ur lessons and we can haf our beer after dat? Wat say u?

  93. Hi Bessie,
Was there on wed nite n thurs noon. Enjoyed very much wed nite jam. Plenty of good male lead and instructor to dance with. 8 of us were there on sat nite for chill out and was expecting to see you but unfortunately you did not made it. Take note that there will be a teadance party on tues 23Oct. Will be there as usual on thurs. Hope to c u.

  94. To all who coming for the dance session. be there by 7.00pm for registration. Look for Mary Tan.

Those not sure of the venue, meet at Lavendar MRT at 6.45pm at the control station.

Those who drive, just park near to the King George Building where the venue is.

  95. Hi Molly,

    Sorry to disappoint you all.

Will let you know if I can make it this Saturday or Friday(not so crowded)

This afternoon jam, will not make it again.

If have time, will drop by to have a coffee and enjoy the music and to see you all.

    Enjoy your jam. Bessie

  96. Wow! we all had a great evening did’nt we? thanks to DanH.
The instructor is good! Her persistence on having us start at getting our feet right shall benefit us.
Ah Nee, Suzchang, Molly, DollyL, RolandL (hope I didnt leave out any names), thanks for your support, with your presence we were not lack of partners :D bery touched! bery sie sie u guys for an enjoyable 1st lesson! Look fwd to see u guys at our next next …. lessons! c us thru our graduation hor ;)

  97. No problem at all, Christina, we enjoyed ourselves too. We did learn something from the instructor on how to move your legs and not our body. Btw, you hv forgotten Victor, the clean shaven man who bought all of you tou huay chui on his bike.

  98. Good turnout!

Janet Heng and Mary Chan came all the way from Pasir Ris to join in the fun and dance! Bessie Lam, though a good dancer herself came to polish her skill and has been a great help to all of us.

Grace Kok, Gingko, Lin Tan, Eliza, Christina Chan and Veron have determination on their faces to master the game.

The three gentlemen, Dan, John, and Lawrence took the learning process determined not to be the slaves but the master of it all! Frankly I must admit that the teacher is good. She took pain to teach us the basic like the correct posture when you dance and never to take big step forward or backward, otherwise we loss our balance.

Thanks to Dolly, Molly, Sue, Ah Nee and Ronald who came to give us their moral support. We do miss Rene who was not able to join us. Finally Michelle who came but have not muster up courage to join in the fun!

On a negative note: Someone at the school lost a Nokia 6300 phone. The school is appealing to us to help. Anyone, who may have mistakenly took the phone, please inform me.

  99. Hey Dan,
It sure was a success! Everyone had fun.

Such a pity about the loss of the mobile phone. It kind of puts a damper on the evening a bit.

Everyone should take care to keep their belongings in sight.

Anyway, I enjoyed the teacher’s tips on posture etc.

Thanks and looking forward to the next lesson. :-)

  100. Dear All

I had such fun time last night! Also appreciate those who came and support us.Thanks, Molly for yr guidance and patience with me.Please come again if you have the time, ok?.

Victor, thanks very much for your packet of soya beans drink.U are very, very nice to support and bring all those packets of drink for us.Really appreciate yr kindness.

My hubby also had a good time.We like to hear Dolly talk. She always creates laughter and good fun.Nice knowing u, Dolly.

Dan, thanks for bringing us to the place. Now, hope that the phone could be found and given back to the owner.

Have a good day, everyone … Janet.

  101. Victor, thanks again for showing up. We know that you are keen to join in the fun! Let hope that you recover from your leg injury to join us soon.

Janet, you may have to convince your hubby to join us.

Thanks also to Dolly, Molly, Sue, Ah nee and Ronald Lee who not only give moral support but helping the new dancers on the dance steps and also adding lot of laughters and hilarious moments with us.

Must not forget my camera for the next class.

  102. Wow wow when all these lessons ended, SHC hv a group of dance performers for D&D, shiok hor.. Terence, agree?

Thanks for the compliment, Janet. Yeap, laffer best medicine mah..

It is oso nice knowing u plus couple of new members as I hv not bn able 2 attend most gathering due 2 work commit lor.. :(

  103. Dan, hubby can’t join the dance class due to too much work. Thanks for yr encouragement.

Dolly, thanks and yes, u bring joy.Hope to bump into u more often in the future.

Have to go for my cg now – it’s every Friday night.

    Take care, Janet

  104. Hi Janet and All,

We will definitely come to guide and support you ppl when we have the time. Guess you must be looking forward to your next lesson.

    Cheers Molly

  105. Hi Molly

Yes, I hope to complete the course. There were one or two who bet that I would not stay long.Must show them that I can do it.Haha.. Thanks for yr encouragement and really looking forward to yr presence.

Also, Bessie very sweet of her.She emailed us the cha cha steps sheet.Bessie, thanks very much again. You are a gem!

A goodnight to both of u, Janet.

  106. Hi Janet,
I remembered when I 1st met u was d potluck at east coast 1 year back which clara brought u along.. u r so quiet back den.. Glad u dat u finally enjoyed the company of SHC members… cheers… dolly

  107. Dolly, i did not forget.i remembered u as the very, very friendly lady who persuaded me to eat but i so nervous and shy.Just sat by myself and enjoyed looking out at the sea.Saw u again at the McRitchie Walk and made me laugh so much.Really like u but don’t know u.Just like yr company. Thanks very much.

    Have a lovely day, Janet.

  108. Hi dancers, coming Thursday we meet for the second session.

Those still not familiar with the venue, please sent me an sms. We hope to be there by 7.00pm so as to do some practice.

Meet me at 6.45pm at the Lavendar Mrt where I last waited.

  109. Our second dance class commence with a bang! All who signed up were present except Mary Chan, Rene, Veron, Michelle and Bessie for various reasons.

Mary Chan who have supported us so much have to quit not because of the stress but because she have to undergo surgery on her knee. The school has agrees kindly to refund her.

We also have one kind gentleman, Roland who came by to give us moral support and help the ladies in their dance steps.

Social cha cha is a quicking stepping dance routine. We are glad to have a good teacher, Susan Tan who meticulously and patiently taught us the right movements up to the full turn.

  110. Hi Dan,
Looks like my knee surgery is common knowledge now, so I will not feel “paiseh” and say something about it.
I injured my left knee about 3 months ago, when I moved house. An MRI showed a tear in the ‘meniscus’. The keyhole surgery will hopefully mend it for me. It’s scheduled for the 16th, next Tuesday and I will be housebound for a few days.
I should be good as gold after that. At least that’s what the surgeon said. ;-)
Thanks for your assistance regarding the dance class, Dan.

    Cheers

  111. Christina,
I have been walking for the past 3 months and dancing a little, albeit with the help of painkillers, and I want to see the Botanic Gardens tomorrow. If I do turn up and can’t keep up, which I doubt, I will camp somewhere and wait somewhere to have dinner with you all, ok? Don’t worry. I will be ok.
    Cya all, :-)

  112. Steven Chan.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have and discovered I’m sensitive to glucosamine. Besides, what I have has nothing to do with that. It resulted from accidentally twisting my knee.

  113. Mary, we are all rallying behind you so that you will have a successful surgery.

Can’t wait for you to join back the dance class. There is also so much thing waiting for you to do. But all that have to wait still you have fully rested and fully recovered!

  114. Yes, Dan, i am all with you to support you in her surgery since (i cd read) there’s so much joy in the danz class even tho Joy isnt in there yet.

So is it going to be the same sky blue gown we’re to don? Oei, but why are you walking up to ah bui in tekka wet market and looking at his knife?

Jokes aside, Mary, do slow down a bit to ensure speedier recovery. Btw, I do know a bit of physio, having played soccer & rugby for clubs…..ai mai?

  115. Wei2 MaryC, I had been busy lately and have not been reading the post thoroughly. Knew of your absence and reason only last night. I like to see you “physically wholesome” so be good girl and rest well…yah…

Talked about twisting, last night we did the 360 deg turning. As usual, was not dressed with the the proper foot wear nor socks on, my leg had begun to give me pains. Signs of aging or lack of leg exercise?

I hope to see you tmw during or after walk….okay and I wish myself to be present too cos not quite sure if my legs will carry me to the Gardens ….

  116. Hi Chan Mary Chan,

I remember you told me about your knee problem weeks ago. So you are finally taking the plunge to go “under the knife”. I wish you well and have a speedy recovery. A recovery that is “as good as gold”, better still as sparkling & bright as diamond, heehee.

Missed you dancing and clowning with me last evening, but then John Howe was keeping me rather busy. He “entertained” me the whole evening and were teaching me new dance variations. He was cha, cha’ing away like a pro. Sorry John, the cat’s out of the bag.

  117. Dan,

Thank you very much for your encouraging words and thank you to all of you, “rallying behind Dan”.
Like Arnie said. “I WILL BE BACK!” :-)

  118. Tim.

You sound positively sane at the moment. Thanks for the advice and the physio offer. I will keep the latter in mind, haha, if I’m looking for trouble.

  119. Good morning GraceK.

Thank you too for your well wishes.

Oh yes, you must have proper shoes or the “twisting and turning” might cause you pain in the legs.

I decided this morning to give the BG walk a miss. The spirit is willing but the knee is weak, hehe. So have fun walking and dancing!

  120. Dear Mary,

Sorry to read about your knee problem but have the problem ‘rectified’ and you will be as good as new to take on vigorous walking and complicated dance steps.

May you get well soon and hope to catch up with you again. Take care!

    Catherine Y

  121. Hi Mary ( Dancer)

Even after you had your surgery,it is advisable not to take part in vIGOROUS dancing and HIGH impact aerobics.

Wish you had a speedy recovery.

  122. Hi Steven Chan.
Oh please don’t call me that. Just MaryC will do. I’m no dancer at all. Just learning.
Thanks for the advice and the good wishes.
    You have a good day,
    MaryC

  123. Hi Mary Chan

Sorry do not know about your knee surgery until reading cyo’s comment #163 then read the other related comments.

Just used what cyo said “May you get well soon and hope to catch up with you again”.

A strange idea come to my mind, May I have the pleasure to be your first partner (of Cha Cha, I just learnt last night) when you recover and return to the dancing class? (of course have to get Dan’s permission first lah)

Hope to hear and see you soon.

  124. Hi Andrew.
    Thank you.
Why is that idea so strange? Of course I will dance with you when I return and you don’t have to get Dan’s permission. We are all friends.
Hope to see all of you soon too.
    Have a good time,
    Mary

  125. Hi Mary

We have not met but we have exchanged greetings in this forum.

I wish you a successful surgery and a speedy recovery after that. Take care and will see in tip top condition at the Pot Luck gathering.

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  126. Hi All dancers,

MaryC: Aiyah, u ask me to dance…n u practice kick’g ard…is ur knee operated n ok?. I’m blurr n came to know it now. Wish u a speedy recovery. Btw d makan trail need some climb’g d steps… boleh dah? If not hor, u look aftr our camels when we’re at d top, ok?..hehehe

  127. Hi Lawrence,
    Thank you.
My surgery is tomorrow. Hope to recover in time for your makan trail. If cannot climb, then can go piggy back? ;-) Haha.
    I’ve smsed you my number.

  128. Hi dancers,

Hope by now all of you can find your way to the dance class.

Come early by 7.00pm so that we can have some practice!

    See you folks!!

Hi Mary Chan, how are you feeling after the surgery?

  129. A very good morning to ALL, especially, JIE, JOY, JANET, JANE YEO, DENNIS WEE, JOHN and DAN HWANG.

I now have 2 punctures on my left knee, still covered up, so I don’t know how big they are. I had a bit of a problem recovering from the anaesthesia, dizziness and nausea until late Tuesday evening, so had to stay the night. I had very little pain except for some stiffness at the knee.
Leg is almost normal and I didn’t even have to use a crutch! Even the physiotherapist was amazed that I could walk without aid. I think the regular walks helped a lot, so I will be back to them as soon as the green light is given!

Regarding dancing, the doctor has advised against any with “too much twisting and turning” even for people our age, without any problem. So I have to reconsider the type of dances to do.

As to mahjong, anytime JANET, anytime. What about next week, (I have another session with the physiotherapist tomorrow), that is if JOHN or DAN is kind enough to provide me with transport? ;-P.
    You arrange ok?

Apologies to RAJAMANIKAM. I thought I could attend until the day before my surgery when I was told to be at the hospital by 9am, which meant I had to leave home early. I decided against attending your talk as the travel home would have taken me at least an hour and a half and I wanted to go to bed early. I wasn’t aware that there was any charges but I will pay for my share of the cost, so please let me know how I can do this. Thanks again for your effort.

    It’s great to be back!

  130. Mary, u sound great! What abt next Thursday as I will be in M’sia Mon to Wed.Will have to contact the others later.

Good to hear from u and have plenty of rest, Janet.

  131. Hi Mary,

Not at Makan trail becos I will be visiting Zhujiagor and other parts of China.

Perhaps,we can meet again in Nov at Dennis pot luck party where your recovery would be much better by then.

  132. Hello Mary
So happy to hear that you have recovered so fast. You are really strong physically, spiritually and all. Marvellous that you dont need aid for walking after surgery.

Hope to see you at makan trail.

    God bless.
    Jane Yeo

  133. Mary

Nice to know you are recovering from your surgery and can walk well. Take good care of yourself.

Just after the surgery, then you think of MJ, really a gambler ah. (Joking, joking). Hope you good luck on the MJ table (Sorry for the other 3).

  134. Hey Andrew,
Thank you too. Not a gambler lah. Just bored staying at home. Thanks for the good luck wishes. Will keep them for my next game, hehe.
    Cheers :-)

  135. Hi Mary,

Good to hear you are recovering fast. I know how it feels when i had the muscle tear , so you are doing great. Keep up the good spirits and soon you will be able to dance soon.

    Cheers

  136. Yesterday we have full attendance except Janet Quek.

Look like we have a bunch of diehards having a hilarious times of remembering all the dance steps up to the full and half turn.

We have Dan, John, Lawrence, Roland and a male teacher to play the male role, which really help the ladies.

Newcomer Chiang Wah join us at this stage. She is a friend of Roland. Mary, I got full refund for you.

Next step, we are planning to organise a jam session for practice.

  137. Hi Mary

Glad 2 hear dat u r recovering fast. I always believe u r a strong lady. Get well soon so dat we can continue our weekly walk and also a visit 2 Simei ITE 4 the lovely CHOCOLATE FONDANT (ai yo, lau nua alredi lah). Nice 2 hear u will b fully recovered 4 the pot luck by then. Take care n dont wori so much

  138. Hi Dan Huang,

When I’m free on Thursday, can I come over to watch. I know a few foot steps on these dances and may join you for the next session.

    Thanks, Eileen Lee

  139. Hey Dan,
Thank you for getting me the refund. Will I be seeing you at Janet’s on Thurs the 25th for MJ? In the meantime, just hang on to the cheque for me. Thanks again.

  140. I can carry you there on my back. I am licensed by the STB, the AVA, SPCA, Anti-Vice and charge by the meter. No extra/hidden costs. Comfort & safety higher than A380 assured. Guaranteed no-accident (unless you want). However, maximum load must not exceed 60 kg and no luggage.

  141. Are you referring to me Tim?
Aren’t you afraid I just might say yes? What “meter” do you have? Your ticky heart? hahaha. I’m not over 60 kg, but I bet you, you’ll “peng san” not even half way there.
Perhaps if you were a STRONG, YOUNG man, then ok lah. THAT would be comparable to the A380.

  142. Heeee, of cos it is “you”.

Remember my “ai mai” left with you somewhere sometime ago is still waiting a “yes”?

See, didnt I say you’re a kind & thotful little gal (cos

  143. Yes, I was wondering what the “(cos” meant. If it’s a compliment, I say thank you. But how did you arrive at that conclusion I wonder? From hearsay? Is that allowed in court? Haha.

  144. Hahaha, kena truncated again….1 last try then.

Briefly, what I said was “Since you’re kind & thotful so if, like you said, I pangsai half way, you’ll sure carry me. Seeing you carry me, the senior gallant knight Dennis wont hv the heart not to carry you, so I atop all will hv nothing else to do than to carry the widest of grins………

Pls go for yr physio and do go to SHC’s G’ay if you cd make it b4 noon 2 mrow.

    Take care !

  145. Yeay! Rejoice with me! :-D
The physio gave me the all clear to do some walking, but short distances and on flat ground. So makan trail, potluck, MJ, here I come!! The only condition was, no climbing and stop if there’s any discomfort.
I still have about 6 days to gradually increase the distance, starting today, except that it has started to rain cats and dogs. :-(
Oh well, there is always this evening. :-)

  146. “…….and stop if there’s any discomfort…… except that it has started to rain cats and dogs.”

    Precisely.

Other than the year-end rain, what if cats & dogs start to chase you as you are about to feel the discomfort? Stop? Or walk right back to the physio with a roller pin in hand……….?

  147. Not so smart.

Smart people walk in bright sunshine; they stay indoors when it rains, and the umbrella is useful to ward off evil spirits & colored-wolves, not for fending off dogs & cats which cant like a smart person enough.

  148. Hi MaryC,

Hooray :) glad to hear you are cleared (being positive here). Be a good girl, catch up more rest. Yr reward – to play hard in the forthcoming events …. good news indeed!

If Dennis is able, let’s go for the chocolate at Simei – alright?

    Cheers, GK

  149. Hi Dan. “Okie” meant okie will be seeing you at Janet’s for MJ or okie, will hold on to the cheque for me?
To update you on my surgery. The dressing came off today and I discovered a pair of “eyes” on my knee, small incisions, very neat. Hope the scars will disappear in time. Knee feels a little sore still but I have already gone walking, albeit slowly and accompanied by my sweet daughter, Sherry.
Hope to see you for MJ.

  150. MaryC and Dennis — set when date confirmed please give 2 days notice by sms. This week is MAD week. Down by one head count plus month end. Catch up soon … :)

  151. Except for Janet Heng and Mary Chan who opted out on medical ground, we have full atendance.

Today we ended our lesson on Social Cha Cha. Next week is the start of the Rock and Roll lesson.

We are also looking forward to Boon Liang who is joining us. Hooray, we now have four brave men willing to take on ten lovely gals!

  152. Last night we have a good turn out except for Janet Heng, Eliza and Bessie.

We are glad to have Boon Liang,Andrew Yeung, Rene and Bira Chia to join us in the dance.

Eight gals and six guys, who say the guys are shying away. The gals are pretty happy there enough guys to go around.

Rock and Roll seems an interesting dance steps. We guys have the heavy responsibilities to lead the gals. So far with the patience teaching from the teacher we managed to know when to swing the ladies!

Coming Saturday from 8.00pm – 10.30pm, all dancers are invited to come for practice at Dance Passion.

Chian Wah, one of the dancer has booked a room at the Pines for our dance practice from 8.00pm-10.00pm. Date is coming Monday, I need to know who can come? Otherwise Chian Wah may have to give up the booking.

Those who can come, do sms me by today.

  153. “……..with…teaching from the teacher we… know when to swing the ladies”.

Ok, a fee is paid by the guys to learn the “when”.

For a beer, I can teach you how.

(And since you’re my friend, Dan, let me just whisper into yr ears for free. Swing them like the atheletes do for sledgehammer at the olympics…..sure fly very far one. Better run for my lunch before he kicks my butt)

  154. Dan

How can you forget our lady Dolly? I think she is also the first time joining the class (although she had came before for supporting, am I right?).

  155. Hi Dan,
Other members are asking if they are allowed to join in the Sat session, can they? If so, will the charge b the same, if not, what is the charge like?

As for The Pine, suggest that you let us noe d amt dat each individual nid 2 pay b4 we can confirm.. u noe.. it all zoom down to $$$ factor for some of them…

  156. pap member, wp member, sdp member…..the democrats, republicans, free? Or pay treble since they wont go there to danz but to talk pot-lick-ticks……….?

  157. Hi Dolly,

First Dan did not want to speak to me at the annual games day, now forget to inform me about Saturday Night Fever. Must do something else to make him remember me forever. What you suggest Dolly? Some more, say pretty girl tongue-tied. So whose leg is he pulling? What say you, Dan?

  158. Hi Lina,

I was busy taking shots of the other pretty girls that I forgot the one just next to me and she has kindly hold my camera whenever I am bowling.

Saturday Night Fever, we were dancing away, did we? Any concoctions you come up with, I will take it!

  159. Aiyo, LIna, Ah Dan Gao Gao already said dat he nid 2 hv tis kepala check liao.. so chin chai la.. wander wat health supplement he is shortage of hor.. :)

Silor, Sat 9 fever, saw both of u dancing happily leh.. wu rite..

So how ur leg, go 4 massage bo?

  160. Hi Dolly,

Ok lah, we forgive him for missing out our names. Wasted so much of his time at the sinseh when he could be doing more important things.

Thank’s for your concern Dolly. Dan took me to have acupuncture and heat treatment. But he went into too much detail. Read the part of him ‘on another couch’ doing treatment. Understood already hor, can’t possibly be on the same couch, right Dolly.

And Tim was great. He drove my car back for me!! I am most touched.

Dolly, I think posting wrong already. Should be on badminton or dancing.

Out of action now, so how to go dancing with you tonight. Maybe another time Dolly.

  161. Lina, it can be very painful waking up on the first day after suffering the muscle strain but hope the acupuncture has done enough to ease the pain.

What you didnt know yesterday and what you must know now is, I dont have a driving licence.

I drive the choo choo train at amusement parks and so when there was this god-gifted opportunity to drive the real thingy, I wont let it pass. Heee, we both survived altho you cd hv sniffed it out when I cdnt keep the car in lane, with poor Dan taling us, weaving and squeezing in & out of traffic.

    He too survived.

  162. …..Aiyo, LIna, Ah Dan Gao Gao already said dat he nid 2 hv tis kepala check liao.. so chin chai la.. wander wat health supplement he is shortage of hor.. :)

    Gingko Nuts. LoL.

  163. Our first private Jam session at The Pines.

This is the first time we have more guys than gals! Ron Lai and Alice came and gave much guidance. Ronald Lee and Molly also provide lot of guidance. Dennis Wee and Roland are here to impart their dancing experience.

Dan, John Howe, Gingko, Veron and Chian Wah were never lack of receiving coaching.

  164. Hi Dan Huang
I have not been following and am “sotong”
Is the dance course on or finished.
I just want to do the rock n roll and its variation. turn etc. Can or not?
    Where/ When?
    veron wong ( not lee)

  165. Dear Dancers,

Next week will be our final class on Rock n Roll. We intend to continue on learning Social Waltz, Disco Rock, Off-beat Cha Cha and Rhythm.

Please give me your comment on whether you decide to continue and your comment on the teacher Miss Susan Tan. Meanwhile I am trying to negotiate with her on reducing the fees.

I also approach one Mr Jeffrey which was recommended by Molly. It will probably be held at Kembangan CC. The venue would appeal to those staying in the East. Jeffrey specialises in Ballroom dancing. Will inform you of the charges and day of the week.

Rene did suggested Marine Parade CC. From feedback, most reckon that it is not a convenient location.

Some of you may agree with me that Susan has been very patient in coaching us. Though some are slow to pick up the dance steps, she would help us laugh at our mistakes and spur us on.

Bessie Lam, Christina, Veron Lee, Chianwah, Rene, Dolly and Veron Wong may have pick up the dance steps before and therefore are coping well.

Grace has been busy with work and turning up late. Though slow to pick up the steps, she is still very determine to learn. Lina Ng is out of action for the time being.

Gingko, Lin Tan, Eliza and Bira are new to the experiences but slowly and surely enjoying themselves. Janet Heng is missing in action!

John Howe, a jovial guy helps to lighten up our inadequacy. Lawrence, Roland, Andrew and Boon Liang are certainly there to help the gals make their money worth!

Dan, the slowest to pick up the dance steps! Even got Rene to kick my legs when it seems too heavy to perform the dance steps properly. No wonder my ex commented that when I try to dance, it is like lugging a fridge around!

Dancer, hope you are all enjoying yourselves. Besides dancing, with help from all the other guys I am planing more ‘jam and butter’ session and even social gathering to help bond ourselves together!

Lawrence, how about a Bintan trip? Any other suggestions, let us know!

  166. Danz Dan,

If the class is conducted at Kembangan CC. I want to join. Can Miss Susan Tan have the Rock n Roll,Social Waltz, Disco Rock, Off-beat Cha Cha and Rhythm class at Kembangan CC? Convenient for me mah, aiyo but not so for the rest leh????? :(

    Ah Nee

  167. Dan has requested for “…comment on the teacher Miss Susan Tan.”

I dunno her, hv never seen her but staring hard at her name, think she must be sweet & pretty so, on that count alone, how to ask for a reduction in fee ?

Frankly, if she has done enough to convert fridges to potentially dazzling dancers, i say, she deserves 3 times the current fee which will bring her glee to work hard like the busy bee, a logic you shd see unless you wanna learn prance not dance from timothy and that is free…..

  168. Ooops, one more observation prompted by butty Dan’s “……. ‘jam and butter’ session ……. to help bond ourselves together!”

I hv heard of jam session for bonding. With butter added so as to “bond ourselves together”, heee, now I got it.

    Enjoy !

(Die die also must join Dan’s danzing class liao……..Bring Cock brand cooking oil also can, right?)

  169. Aiyo, AhNee, u reli sotong leh.. Kembangan hum si lady teacher la.. is a Mr Jeffrey hor.

Dan, my primary interest 2 learn is rnr n i dun mind disco rock. any kinds of waltz out 4 me la… i dun mind continue at dance passion provide we cont wif rnr n disco rock, if not, i m out lor..

As 4 d 2 options given, i will hv 2 opt out as given my superb sense of driving direction, more likely 2 lost my way 1 la… but most impt is still locs 2 far away lor..

As 4 current teacher, i concluded dat her teaching is very detailed, mayb in fact 2 detailed so sum1 of u may felt dat we r being short changed lor.. As for tose complaints abt no music during dat 1hr session, supp Dan can liaise wif her n tell her honestly our opinion so that she is aware of these feelg n try 2 improve.

Nevertheless, is nice to learn (evendoe oli 4 lessons) dancing 2gether wif all of u as we hv lots of fun n laughters lo….

  170. Dear Ah Nee, your request noted. Spoken to Jeffrey, Ballroom dance at Kembangan CC for eight lessons at one and a half hour will be charge at $60.00. For ballroom dancing, a partner is a must. Dancers, please give me your feedback.

Dolly, appreciate your concern. Will convey your thots. Personally feel that we should continue with the class. Will liase with Susan to continue with another one or two classes on Rock n Roll before going onto the other type of dance.

Dear dancers, next week on Wednesday November 28 we have ‘jam n butter’ session at Serangoon Gdn Country Club from 8.00pm.

Those still unfamiliar with the venue, please liase with those who are driving as listed in my sms .

  171. Danz Dan,

The fees for the Ballroom dance is reasonable. Aiya, mana ada partner? Susah lah, tak boleh join the class liao. However I am interested to attend the ‘jam n butter’ session at SGCC, can I go? ;-)

    Ah Nee

  172. Hi Dan, Tim,

Quite difficult to pair up ‘cos girls always more than guys. Better to keep to those where no pairing is needed. Tim want to help recruit some guys?

Btw, your girl is on holiday now. Want to come to SGCC to show off your dancing skill?

Afterall, you are an all-rounder. Can bowl, sing, drive without licence, reads a lot, writes well and comment on anything under the sun. Let us test your danzing skill this Wednesday.

  173. Lina, if tim recruits, his guys are all like him, the tuabuloo, harrylee, harbansingh & adrianlim type, heee, even if you dare, Dan & her gals dare meh?

I do hv indelible & fond memories of SGCC when it was known as SGSC where I got to show off not dancing skill but how to make a fight with the matsallehs out of football.

Hahaha, All-rounder has been trade-marked and I certainly wont want to infringe my butty’s trade mark rights.

I cant danz, whether it’s this Wednesday or Wednesday 2700. But for sure, I like to watch you folks danz, esp when there is this promise of fridge conversion job, into twinkle toe dazzling dancers.

  174. Hi Dan

Glad to know that you have already contacted Jeffrey, the dance instructer at Kembangan CC,
who is my good friend, and had informed Christina to relay to you, as you are wanting
someone to teach the Silverhairs. I have also trying to get him to join the Silverhairs Club, as he is also a good band leader, and had conveyed to Caroline Gee to get his service for the D n D.

    REGARDS

    Ronlai

  175. Hi Tim,

You believe a fridge can be turned into twinkle toe dazzling dancer? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see.

The problem with me is that I am too tall for the guys. So they have a hard time twirling me for rock and roll. So, tall guys please come forward.

And since you cannot make it, never mind. After all, we are just there for the fun.

  176. Lina, as the Chinese say “shi mook ke diau” so if a log can be carved into a sculpture of beauty, so can a fridge………..mind over matter.

Heee, standing next to me, you probably hv a vantage view of my arm-pt, very lucky as it’s another of my few protected parts.

Seriously, Ben’s son is a natural charmer with good height and if anyone can find him a danz studio with a bowling alley nearby, think he’ll find the time to danz atop the bowl………

  177. Hi Dan,

Jeffrey will be at the ‘jam & butter” session 2morrow nite. Henry (96962425)who teaches at Kovan CC and specializes in ballroom dancing will be there too. You can talk to him. I know of another instructor Peter Phuah (96183125). He teaches at Geylang Serai CC. He is a very good ballroom teacher 2.

Understand there will be a big group of SHCians going to SGCC 2morrow nite. Can I suggest tat credit card be used to settle the payment. I will check with the counter and inform you accdly. Jam session starts at 8.30pm so be early and chop yr seats.

  178. Dear dancers,

We are going for another two sessions on Rock n Roll. Thereafter, we either opt for Social waltz or Disco Rock or Rhythm. Those coming next Thursday with have to pay another $80.00

The Ballroom class at Kembangan CC will be put on hold as the slot given is on a Sunday afternoon or night.

We welcome Bira, Peng Peng and Jessie who just joined us. Eileen, waiting to hear from you!

    Member $3.00 Non-member $5.00

  179. Hi Dan
