Thailand visit

My daughter, Louisa, from Melb. was planning to go to Thailand on 29/9 for a month with 2 friends.  Now the friends have back out and she has asked me to go with her.  I would appreciate some advice from those who have travelled to Thailand, e.g. where to go, hotel accommodation, etc.  I usually travelled with tour groups, and recently went to Krabi with some friends.    Any advice would be truly appreciated.  Many tks.

  1. Hi Dora,

With regards to hotel, I would recommend and LOVE to stay at the Amari Watergate Hotel in the heart of Bangkok near the Mass Transit Link where you can easily travel to Patpong(tourist spot)or to the Sunday market at Chatuchak or to the Grand Palace – one of the most beautiful temples in the world.

The hotel has very GOOD service and the lobby is very BEAUTIFULLY decorated. You will feel a sense of peace when you relax at its lounge.

I enjoy their buffet breakfast very much with a widespread of Thai food.

    Have we met before.
    Your name sounds new,

  2. Hi Dora,
While 29/9 is only 2days away, it wuld be abit rush to plan now already but since you hv decided to stay for 1mth, then probably it would be beta to plan when you are there.

As I hv bn collecting some info for BKK trip, pls write to me at dlgummy@hotmail.com so that I can furnish whatever info I had on hand right now for your perusal….. Dolly

  3. Hi Dora

I doubt that you’d want to spend one month in Bangkok… but if you do, then you should try to get a service apartment where costs will be lower (one month at the Amari would cost you a small fortune!) and you have some home amenities like a sitting room and kitchen.

In two days?! Wow, talk about last minute plans! Your daughter must have some idea of where she would stay or go to. Most young people (I take it that’s she’s young) want to travel around, go to the island beaches, trek, camp in forest reserves, or even some extreme sports. So do check with her before you plonk for one month in Bangkok.

  4. Hi Dora,

If you want to learn how to stay, roam around cheap in BKK, where to get free internet for 2 hours in air-con comfort everyday ,and know what backpackers do, you can email me. But dont ask for luxury hotels lah, but for good entertainment , check the latest BKK Esplanade it is as big if not much bigger than Spore’s durian, with interesting concerts, plays, etc.

    Check the website :
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esplanade_Bangkok

Also with cheap internal flights on Airasia it is faster to fly to CM , Phuket ,Krabi rather than just being in BKK, also Hotels are cheaper in the other places.

    Cheers,
