  5. Hi Yew Kwong

As you are organising Cycling event on 17th Nov and no Cum walking, we, Robert, Kristy, Alice and myself will be joining you and the group but just for walking and not cycling and at the same time to meet fellow Silverhairs and to rekindle friendships.

Our intentions are also to view CHEK JAWA at low tide. On 17th Nov is according to Chinese Calender 8th day of the 10th Moon, usually the 3rd day of the new moon is always High Tide in the morning. So on 17th Nov early morning accordingly will be low tide for us to see the corals and what-not, until the tide may come in around early noon.

    Ronlai

  6. Wow, Ron & Alice, Robert & Kristy.. its good that all of you are coming to join us (cyclists) even though there are no walking activity that day…Besides Chek Jawa, don’t forget to visit the quarry as we miss it the last time, so lets hope Nov’s trip will be more fruitful…. Cya !!

We hv been 2 Pulau Ubin many years ago, and had seen the beautiful Quarry with deep water-lake, but not the Chek Jawa, as it was not developed yet. We had a picnic at the Quarry at that time, with friends, it was a memorable experience, and love to visit again. It was a beautiful morning today for the cyclists n walkers at Pulau Ubin. The two groups had a wonderful time, thanks to YK n CC
for their efforts, in organising the activity.

    Ron n Alice Lai

  28. Agree with Ron. Thanks Yew Kwong, Ronald Lee and Christina.

  29. Caroline

“I tried left and right but still….” – At last how? very very interesting.

“A huge peanut butter sandwish” – wow, huge? how many layers. This is my favourite, I just got a plain porridge for my breakfast, poor!

Yesterday, we really have a nice chat together with Clare and Philip. Thanks

    A nice Sunday.

  30. Hi Andrew

It was nice to have that little chit chat. A we did not get to sing our favourite songs.

Well, I tried left and then right but still felt sore at my a..

The seat was hard and the roads were bumpy so I think you can guess.

Porridge is better then nothing :)

You have a nice day and see you nex week.

    Warmest Regards

    Caroline Gee

  31. Hi Yew Kwong, thank you for organising the re-visit to Pulau Ubin. Am so glad that I did not miss it. The weather was beautiful. Seemed like everyone had been praying hard ;-). For me, it was an eventful day. Three hours of cycling in the morning with all the cyclists, then two hours of walking in the afternoon with Veronique, Joyce and Yew Kwong. Yes, just the four of us stayed behind in the afternoon. Fantastic! we walked track after track, to Chek Jawa, strolled the entire boardwalk, inhaled the refreshing sea breeze, climbed the watch-tower, absorbed the surrounding views from atop. Got to see so much, enjoyed the leisure walk, non-stop chit-chat, occasionally examining the plants & leaves and exchange of childhood memories.

The cycling paths were rough and the terrain was challenging. Peddling up and down some steep slopes and bumping on pebble & debris-strewn tracks were tough. At some stage, I was virtually gasping for breath and bending over my knees. Good thing I managed without any mishaps. Not so fortunate for my buddy, Veronique who fell off her bicycle and spent a couple of minutes in blackout land. Thank goodness being a seasoned sportswoman she cushioned her fall knowledgably and hence received only some bruises on her multi-dollar million leg :-)

Another of our friends, Joyce Tan, also injured her right hand after she lost control of her bicycle. Mat Saleh passed by and didn’t render her any help… tsk, tsk. Joyce, hope you are feeling better today??

Veronique, Joyce, Yew Kwong and I returned to the mainland well after dusk. Joyce had dinner ready for her at home so she did not join the three of us. The three of us had hmmm… steam boat and tepanyaki chicken for dinner. We were famished after all that exercise at Ubin and finished all the food in sight.

Yew Kwong, thank you again very much for spending your precious time showing and guiding us in Ubin. Without you, I don’t think I (or we) will ever get to see so much of the Island and enjoyed the outing.

Boon Liang – the night owls did not stay late this time, but we did something rather interesting. Yew Kwong and I brought Veronique to Bali Lane to test her reverse driving skill. Guess what? She passed with flying colours!

  32. In response to Gingko’s comments, I also wish to thank Yew Kwong for his effort in organising this full-day cycling cum walking at P Ubin again.
Thanks Ronald Lee for his timely help when I lost control of my bicycle and fell flat with my both arms supporting my body weight. Otherwise, I would have disfigured my face and need to go for plastic surgery. Thanks again Ronald! hope my 48.5kg frame is not too heavy for you to lift up and also your fantastic TCM skills alleviated the pain of the bruises. In fact, after gaining my consciousness, I continued with the activities till about 10pm and almost forgotten about the injuries and pain. Besides, I also want to thank my kakis for rendering help when I was in blackout zone.
Anyway, this fall will not deter me from returning to P Ubin for another cycling.

    Cheer to all!

  33. Hi Veronique & Joyce,

Good thing you are both well and did not hurt yourselves too much. Veronique, fortunately your fitness makes the difference. Am glad you can still go for dancing classes.

Joyce, take care. See you soon.

  34. Thanks Lina, I’m alright. Still doing my regular sunday exercise and routine houseworks.

Fortunately, Ronald had his oilment ready and applied on my arm timely. It really helps! Thanks Ronald.

It’s a wonderful weekend, fun & thrilled… i lost my balance to the muddy patch but also cushioned by it thus the impact was not so great.
Afternoon walk there was very relaxing & rejuvenating. Thanks you Yew Kwong.

Not forgetting the kakis especially Molly, and Caroline, Nor, AhNee, Gingko, Ronald & Alice… you all help make this outing unfortable.

and Rene, i’ll hear from you soon right?

    Cheers / Joyce

  35. Hi Veronique & Joyce,

It is nice to hear that both of you are alright now and the pain have alleviated. If you requires more help just let me know as I am in “pain management”.

Veronique, I have no problem with your 48.5 kg and anyway it was managed…..hehee.

Joyce Tan, you need more rubbing and massage on the arm because of the jolt at the elbow joint.

Wishes both of you recover soon.

    Cheers

  36. Wei wei Ronald,

Apa “Pain Management” I have heard of Risk Management, Wealth Management, Time Management….but not Pain Management ! heeee…he..he…luckily got you, both Veron & Joyce are recovering faster than expected for another cycling event soon…. :)

    Ah Nee

  37. Ah Nee

“PAIN” management is e latest addition 2 art of management after risk, wealth, time, etc. Like e others, pain management involves a combination of all the others. To put it simple, risk is tat how much pain U may suffer, time is a factor on how long n lastly wealth, no pain no gain lor.

  38. Ah Nee

One of e techniques tat Ronald may b 2 reluctant 2 reveal is rub. Theres vast difference between massage n rub. Y leh. Simple, massage spreads out but rub concentrates n consolidates.

  39. Yes, Ronald has supernatural power and you can see some display of it when he pushes the wall until it shakes b4 he begins his badminton game.

So his array of pain mgt methods include not only the everyone-can-do massage & rubbing but also his ancestral pass-male-down only, whereby he scratches, kneads, pinches, squeezes, gropes………….Even the dead will come alive.

  40. Yew Kwong,

Haaaa…ha…ha..you so funny, the way u explained, make sense leh, no pain no gain. You are also in “Pain Management” huh?

    Ronald,
Why cannot reveal too much here. Must pay consultation fee is it? :)

    Ah Nee

  41. Aiya! Ah Nee,

You so cute hor….. Draw portrait must also draw its intestine meh?
Why you so blur..blur…. Not enough sleep huh? Where did you go last night?…he.. hee

  42. Dear all cyclist & walkies

I had great fun time last weekend with all of you..some whom ive not met, but glad that we met & be frens personally like ‘newbee’.Lillian, nice knowing you..not forgetting Joyce Tan,such softspoken,so paiseh we so ‘loud’..hahaha..

helo to Ron Lai & Alice…u r a fantastic couple..it so easy to chat & mingle with both of you at breakfast…hhmmm..dont forget our ‘secret’ getaway..arrange ok..ssshhh.. :)

special thanks to my close kakis Caroline,Ah Nee,Susan,Molly…if not bcos of all of you…i cant even get across the island!hw cud i forgot my wallet!!..sudah tua lah…hahaha!

Veronica…u such ‘miracle’ girl..just a moment ago..blackout…then suddenly up & running the next like nothing happen…was that for real?..or u just want someone to carry is it?hehe..

Of course a big thank you to our EO Yew Kwong for making the activity such a family-oriented & keeping an eye on everyone!

  43. Thanks Nor for the tompang up and down. It was great fun cycling with the whole bunch of fun loving kakis. And really envy you for having such a patient husband, waiting for us on such a hot afternoon. See you on Saturday at Talentime.

    Warmest Regards

    Caroline Gee

  44. Hi Veron

Thank goodness, you recovered well so fast… must be TCM Doc Lee at the rescue in the nick of time that helps… he.he.. Wow, you guys really have lots of energy hor ? from dawn to dusk ? Take care and see you Sat ya..

Gingko, did you all caught in the rain ? I remembered it was raining cat & dog when we were back…anyhow, you have accomplished what you want – to see Chek Jawa. That’s good !!

Joyce, hope you are feeling much better too !

  45. Since this is our last cycling of the year, I wish to thank Yew Kwong for organising and dedicating his time in the cycling group. Special thanks to Lily and Jade too for rendering their help as well. Without them, we wud not have so much fun.

Yew Kwong, you did a good job for leading the cycling group. Hope we can explore more places next year and looking forward to more thrilling and fun ride round the island !!

    Cheers !
    Susan
