Travel Club

Some members have expressed interest in an exciting business proposition ie to start a Travel Club. In that thread (("Christmas cheer and thoughts" https://silverhairsclub.com/2007/12/1327) the idea was to link Spore / Perth on the uncommon packages designed for our special interest group.

At the same time, we can extend the scope to include other countries. Our SHC members residing abroad can help us to organize tours in their countries (ie the inbound leg). We will organize the outbound leg from Singapore.

If there is interest, we can call a meeting to further this idea together with the Oz team.

  1. Hi KT

    I’m keen.

I am already in discussion with Joan to expand on her idea to look beyond Spore. Actually, I’m looking at Canada and Australia. Opportunities may be there since currencies in both countries are strong.

  2. Hi,

firstly, a very happy new year to all the SHC. I reside in a very famous and beautiful city of Bath, Englnad. It is a world heritage Roman city. I should be happy to welcome and assist any one who wish to come and visit my second home

  3. Hi all Overseas SHCians,

A belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2008.

Perhaps we can collaborate on the subject matter. I’m a Taxi Tourist Guide and driving a 7-Seaters MPV Limousine Taxi. I’ve being conducting Taxi Tour Guidings for Passengers on Transit, educational tours for primary and secondary schools and recently endeavour into the teaching on the History of Pottery and the Making of Clay.

In addition, I can help to arrange for accomodations and give discount on tour tickets to various places of interest in Singapore.

If you are interested to join hand with me, please feel free to contact me as follows :-

    Have a Nice Day

  4. Hi

Looks like the idea of a travel club appeals to many. Over here in Perth, I can help with some inbound tours, transfers and linkups for activities and accomodation.

If there are other places to explore eg England/Bath, Canada etc with memebers who can help with link ups, that will certainly be a great way to travel.

Wishing all a Happy New Year
    Joan

  5. Looks like we are all packed to go. We have coverage in Canada, UK and Oz already. Needless to say we already have very strong coverage in our own homepatch, Asia. Our own Mentor Member (MM) resides in Thailand. He knows Patpong like the back of his back. We also have strong presence in China and Vietnam.

For those who are in Singapore, I propose an informal meeting

Venue: Scorebot, 18 Bali Lane (S)189854(opposite Raffles Medical. MRT is Bugis Junction)
    http://www.scorebot.biz/
    (or see map http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel/travel/travel_id_4479/travel_site_14813/)

    Date/Time Tues 8 Jan 10.30 am

For those who are not in Singapore, please try to propose some packages in your target country. We will organize it here, collect payment, gather the minimum group and we are set to “GO”.

Keep it simple for our promotion. Suggest the following format

    1 Country

    2 Brief Description

3 Web Links for more details/pictures

4 Dates – Give several dates/duration. We will check the most convenient dates for minimum size group(s) and settle it here. Best if it can be arranged on a frequent basis eg every Mon or first friday of every month.

5 Cost – Just best estimates will do. We’ll check interest first. Final cost will be determined when details are finalized.

We plan to organize Travel Chats with multimedia presentation before and after tours. This is for travellers on the same road to come back together again for a “Auld Lang Sayang”. Also good for all who can’t make the trip the last time. Or those who checking out for a place to go next time. Here’s the preview. Now you can still experience it virtually through sight and sound. OK, we’re still working out the bugs on the “Smell” part …. but we’ll get there.

So organisers, I would appreviate any additional photos, video clips and collateral material for your destination programs. You can send your material to our mailing address Scorebot (see above; attention to “SHC Travel Club”)

Thanks Patrick. We have already received his package even before we start. Talk about efficiency . He is interested in forming for the in bound. But they sound so interesting. I feel like revisiting my home again.

We’ll talk, hear and smell more about it at the meeting.

  6. Hi KT

I would like to meet up with your group to discuss further but weekdays are bad for me. I work fulltime.

Any chance to meet on a Saturday, perhaps?

  7. Eleanour @ #7

Weekend’s normally no good. Many people, many parties. Weekday lunch or evening better. Anytime.

We have a SHC Investment Club meeting tomorrow at the same venue. Scorebot, 18 Bali Lane, Fri 4 Dec, 7 pm. This meeting is chaired by Dennis Har.

I intend to touch on the opportunity of the Travel Club at this meeting. Why don’t you join us if you are free. We can touch base.

You can alternatively contact me at my email
    iwiz@cyberway.com.sg

  8. Hi KT, Dennis,

I shall join the evening event too. We can use the evening hours for those who are interested to chat on CPF, annunity and basic online trading issues.

Am 52, still young, haven’t reach 55 yet, so like to scout around for better options.

  9. Hi Ron-Oz (Melbourne), Joan (Perth) and Mary Perth), Emily (UK), Gary (Shanghai),

It would be nice if you can join the Travel Club discussion. I guess the ideas behind the Travel club are still undeveloped, but hopefully, with ideas from KT and others here in Singapore, the opportunities can be developed.

I was thinking of setting up the SHC Online, and if you can read a bit more about it, we can have a live chat, say from 7 to 8pm Singapore time.

  10. Our organisers can arrange for both inbound and outbound tours, to and from Singapore. The idea is that as an organiser you just have to take care of the local tours in your respective country of residence. We, in Singapore, will take care of the inbound local tours in Singapore.

Our organisers abroad can now offer tours for vistors to Singapore. We now have the following inbound day tours.

    Arts & Museums
    Budget Shoppings
    Cultural Tours
    Eateries
    Ethnic Quarters
    Flora & Fauna
    Heartlands Tours
    Heritage Tours
    History Of Singapore
    Uniquely Singapore Tours
    Wetlands Tours
    Customized Tours

  11. Terence @ #10

Good idea for on-line chat since we have many members abroad.

We can have a simultaneous physical meeting and on-line conferance chat with other members of the SHC Travel Club abroad.

I’ll try to arrange it at Scoreboard for Friday’s SHC Investment Club meeting. What are the log-in details?

  12. I cannot edit?! So I will repost #11 for readability.

  13. Eleanour,

See you on Friday 4 Jan 7 pm at Scoreboard, 18 Bali Lane. All those interested in Investment Club and Travel Club activities can join us.

See, I can also write short comments….

  14. Terence @ #10

    Tried to call without success.

Are you mounting the on-line chat for tonight. If you have a problem with your server side, we can still run out one at our end.

Let us know soon. Setting up is easy. But we need to have enough time to broadcast to members for them to log in in order to join the session virtually.

  15. It’s easier to strike chap ji ki than to reach Terence on the phone…..I tried this morning and after many rings, it was auto-answered by what sounded like donald duck.

Last year, I was 51 & T said he was 52. This year T tells us that he’s 52 so either I am growing faster than T or, in deference to him, shd stay at 51.

  16. Tim @18

You must join the Investment / Travel Club discussion tonight Fri 4 Jan (Scorebot,18 Bali Lane 7 pm) then you’ll understand why.

It’s all explained in Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity.

It’s obvious that Mentor Member is travelling in and out of the Brane in high dimension space at greater than the speed of light.

That offers an explanation why he is never around and always not available. There is no cellphone access in higher dimensional spacetime. If he moves any faster he’ll start to grow younger.

    Knowledge keeps you young.

  17. Come and experience the state-of-the-art conference tonight. Join us even if you are not present physically. You can log in now from anywhere in the world. You will seldom have a chance to have the unique experience of communicating seamlessly with both the physical and virtual world at the same time.

The physical meeting is for both the Investment Club and Travel Club.

Venue: Scorebot at 18 Bali Lane (opposite Raffles Medical; nearby MRT Bugis Junction)

    Date: Fri 4 Jan 2007

Time: 7 pm for the main physical session

If you cannot join us just log into our multimedia on-line chat conference. You can use both chat and audio to address the group.

It is very simple. Just log in here

    http://www.star-conference.com./

    Use the following:

    Conference name: star-conference

    Conference password: star

    Guest name: their name.

In case you need more info, the user guide is here

    http://www.webpresentationserver.com/download/stwps-clientguide70.pdf

Page 16 & 17 shows you how to “phone” in and talk to us. Otherwise just stick to on-line text chat.

You can now log-in to start a chat, submit suggestions, ask questions for the group even before the real meeting starts. You are encouraged to do so earlier to familiarize yourself especially if you are new to SHC on-line chat. During the actual session we may be too busy to handle connection issues.

So come in now and be ready. Have a great session. Enjoy.

  18. Hi All

Looks like there’s plenty of suggestions about the travel club. Not sure if things will really take off.

Regarding inbound tours to S’pore, I’ll be visiting S’pore in May and will need accomodation for 2 nights only. Any suggestions for airport transfers, hotel accomodation planned by you and the cost? Who knows, I may be a customer if the price is right.

I hope to meet with Eleanor and some of you maybe to discuss plans.

    Regards
    Joan (Perth)
