Lim Tian Soo – Profile

I just join and Terence suggest I put in my profile.

I am 61 years old. My hairs are totally silver. Had a heart attack 2 years ago, so now anxious to enjoy life more before the next attack. Now retired and keep busy with trying to stay happy, healthy and alive in this order of importance.

I love outdoor activities. Use to do diving, sailing, played racket games, tracking and jog. Now not allowed to jog but the doctors didn’t say anything about cycling.  Still plays golf weekly and eat myself silly after each game. Do regular Chi Kong exercise in the hope of keeping myself healthy and alive. Love to go exortic places and just watch people. I am very quiet in a large crowd unless giving a speech.

The problem is that my golf kakis are young and working. My older friends are also still working hard to accummulate money they don’t need. I don’t like to go holidays during weekends and public holidays, jostling with other Singaporeans.

Maybe I can meet some ‘young’ people and do things like driving into little towns in Thailand and Cambodia.

  1. Hi, Tian Soo

Welcome to SHC! Been reading your thread on travel and driving in Thailand and
    Cambodia. Must say you’re adventurous…

I’m also your age (with silver hair)and love to travel to Thailand although I prefer a bit of old city life, like in Chiang Mai.

You sound still active despite your recent health issue. I trust it’s not too severe to warrant a more invasive treatment.

But, yes, we all need some activity and exercise in order to stay healthy and happy. And wise!

I’ve bought a folding bike to participate in some cycling activity. Maybe you can consider this too. I can fold the bike easily into my car and travel to a park connector or the east coast.

Hope to meet you at the next SHC event and exchange some notes on travel.

  2. Hi Kenneth

I bought one cheap folding bike once but keep being distracted with other activities. Now it is rusty, like the owner.

I still dream about doing what you do. Hope to join you sometime.

    Cheers
    Soo

  4. Hi Tian Soo,

    Welcome to SHC..

Would like to contribute something that may help heart issues…

    1. Garlic – Fresh, crushed garlic cloves are supposed to be an efficient blood thinner. Chop or mash a clove a day, mix it with some honey in a drink and drink it all down at once. If you cannot stand the pungent taste, try garlic capsules although they may not be as potent as the real thing ;-)

    2. Oats – Oats contain both soluble & insoluble fibre. The insoluble fibre binds the fat in the food, while the soluble fibre binds the cholesterol in the blood. Take a few tablespoons of oats & mix with hot water or milo etc & take it in the morning & at night. A couple of friends (one of them also had a mild heart attack) went on the regime & brought down their cholesterol to manageable levels within 6 months. Cheap & effective.

Take care & see you at one of the many SHC activities soon,
    Jonathan

  5. Hi Jonathan

Thanks for the tips. Very kind of you.

I tried to eat a raw garlic once. I tastes so bad I feel like another heart attack coming. I now eat them raw with food whenever I can.

I am eating rolled oats now for breakfast when at home. But cannot resist the roti pratas when I am out.

Lack of discipline and no fear of death are my problems. But I am game to try all ideas to look for one healthy food that taste as good as ‘Bah Kut Tay’ with ‘Ter Ka bak’and ‘Yu Tiou’ When I find that I’ll be safe.

I have seriously stop eating fat meat and chicken skin.

Thank again Johnathan, look foreward to meet you.

  6. Hi Tian Soo,

I agree eating raw garlic is distasteful.

However, I eat either the Kyolic Aged Garlic extract or the Kordel garlic perles which are powerful anti oxidants to slow down ageing cells.

  9. Hi Tian Soo,

We met at the lunch at Anna’s. Your website on the organic farming sound very interesting! Let’s hope that Steven Chan will come up with a plan for us to visit your farm.

I am keen to take up your offer of conducting tours of your farm. Have you any thought on taking up dancing as a form of exercise?

    Danz Huang

  10. Hi Dan

I was looking for your email address to contact you.

Can you come to the farm this Saturday 31st May at 3pm. I am conducting a briefing session for all who volunteers to be guides. For direction to the farm, go to my website.

    My email ecofarm@singnet.com.sg

The last time I dance was maybe 1970….even then, I was only interested in the girl rather than dancing. Now I have a wife who can wield a Changkol. I’ll be healthier if I don’t dance.
