Hi Cat
Yes, since I got back, I’ve been caught up with my usual Perth programme – golf, fishing, reading, church, cathcing up with friends and relaxing. True, I was hoping to see you and Mary when you were up here for holiday. Maybe another of your visits to Perth.
I enjoy golf which I took up here, just 6 years ago. The game is challenging (actually some find it frustrating) but truly, I like the challenge, the long walks, beautiful scenery and usually lovely weather. Moreover it’s cheaper to play here. Wish some of SHC memebers are interested to learn or play golf here as I can recommend coaches to them or bring them around and have afew sessions playing with them. I’m speaking about the ladies as my game is not up to mark with the men!
Yesterday, went fishing as it was a lovely, cool and bright day. happy with the catch – mixed one. Caught some whiting, gardies, herring and came back, fried them and ate them. Here we often buy frozen fish fillets and fresh fish certainly taste better.
Yes, my daughter live pretty close to me. She remembers you as her math teacher – strict, you know what teachers are like. Me, being one before but now mellowed retiree.
Keep in touch.
Joan
My dear Mary,
Why I called myself “Black Cat” because there’re so many cats in SHC. In case mistaken identity lo.
Jux like yr “mary” so many lambs ard. Ha…ha..
As I told U, there’s “Bare back cat” plus what others I don’t know. Still haven’t say “meow” to them yet.He..he..
To go over in Nov? Impossible unless “chow yeow ee” by boss.
Anyway, black cats or white cats are all the same:- Can catch mice are most impt.
Adios!
Cat Ho
Dear Catherine,
Cuttlefish – eat once a month ok, lah.
Come to Perth in Nov – we go picnic amidst thousands of tulips, then go south to pluck cherries, then go north for wildflowers and fishing. I will pack chicken curry, french sticks, home-made chicken pow.
Why Black Cat Ho?
Luv
Mary
Hi Joan!
How are you? Hope U R fine. Had U been so busy lately since it’s June school holidays for S’pore. Do U have many visitors fr here?
Is yr girl staying near U? In fact, this morning then I realised I’d another friend staying in Perth too. I met her sister-in-law at NTUC 2day.
Regards,
Cat Ho
Dear Mary Lee,
Nice to hear from U again! Miss yr delicious food esp the ox-tail soup & “baku teh” but most of all miss yr laughter!
However, yr preparation of cuttlefish sounds nice but dun eat too much! Pass some over here lest U get high cholestrol
Ha.. ha…
Jokes aside, once we hit 40 we must watch our diet b4 it’s too late. My sisters wouldn’t believe me, now both of them got diabetes.
Yrs truly,
Black Cat Ho
My dear Catherine,
I am going to catch cuttlefish this Sunday – hoping to get a few big ones. Since the cuttlefish are so fresh, just clean them and put them on top of the rice in the rice-cooker. Another way of cooking them is put them in the hot pan, add 1 tablespoon of curry powder and cover for 10mins – eat with rice…yummy! Hubby and I always go fishing together with or without kakis. Grandson and his mum join us if we do not venture too far.
Sure we enjoy life here. You have seen the awesome scenery, cool fresh air, orchards in the hills (have you eaten your raw pecan nuts and chestnuts?), those yellow and blue wildflowers and the ocean (those huge stingrays and birds who tried to steal your fishes).
Quite tired after taking a long walk round the lake this morning but I enjoy writing to friends and looking forward to new friends in SHC.
Looking forward to some SHCians to join us see the wildflowers or tulips.

Hi Mary!
It’s me again! Managed to catch many cuttlefish? What do U do wif them? Who did U go wif this time beside Steven? Did Julyan & his mum go along?
U people really know how to enjoy life eh?
U must be v tired to read yr e-mail rite?
Keep in touch,
Cat Ho
No worries, Joan. Enjoy your fishing. Will be going to Coogee to try for cuttlefish this Sunday.
God bless
Mary Lee (from Perth)
Hi Mary
Thanks for the invite – hope to be able to take you up on that one day.
I met up with my friends and a small group of us are planning to go fishing up north in Jul/Aug. So I can’t make it to Kalbarri this year.
I’ve been to Exmouth and don’t really fancy travelling all the way there again. However there was a very good Chinese restaurant there- the only one at that time. Hope it’s there still and you can have your meals there. We went there for lunch and dinner for 2 days.
Regards
Joan
Dear Joan,
We can get together for lunch – I can cook mee-siam or Asian favourites, just give me a tinkle!
Will let you know once I firm plans for Exmouth.
Mary Lee (from Perth)
Hi Mary and Catherine
Sorry I couldn’t meet up with you .I had a Sat lunch on with some Singapore friends that I forgot. Catherine, looks like you had a great time here. Mary, you must be a great cook, unlike me who seriously took up cooking only 6 years ago.
Mary, yes, do keep me in the loop.
Perhaps I may have a chance to meet up one day somewhere with the two of you.
Regards
Joan
Hi Joan,
I am planning a trip north of Perth (maybe Carnarvon and Exmouth) during July school holidays.
Will keep u posted.
We will delighted if you can meet Catherine and I for coffee tomorrow at Kalamunda markets (11am), opposite the Rotory hotdog stall.
Mary Lee (from Perth)
Hi! Joan,
I’m using Mary’s PC rite now!Oh yeh!I do enjoyed my stay here thoroughly esp. Mary’s cooking! We went fishing
Mandurah yesterday & caught 36 herring and 2 garlies.
We took a train from Gateway to Esplanade and walk through London Court, then hopped onto a yellow cat to Harbour Town – I bought a lot of luxuries.
Last Sunday, we left Perth with Mary’s family (ranging from 7 years old to 60 years old) at 6a.m for Geraldton and Kalbarri. We stayed one night at Dongara, got a glimpse of some wildflowers at Kalbarri National Park. Highlights of the trip was guava picking, running with the olympic torch down the gorges, bought some lobsters from the Murchison River, visiting Singaporeans in Perth (tasting their home-cooked food) and harvesting chillies from her garden.
Hoping to be meet you either in Singapore or Perth. Please keep in touch and send my regards to your daughter.
Catherine Ho
Hi All
I will be posting trips that I hope to make in the near future and welcome SHC members to join me.
Joan (Perth)
Hi Mary and Catherine
I’ve been to Geraldton and Kalbarri but missed the wildflowers when I was there in Oct. Apparently it was a bit late. There were 2 cars of us, one consisting of visitors from S’pore and were were heading for Exmouth.
I hope to go up there again, in time for the wildflower season, just that I have no travel companions and may join a tour group. Perhaps Mary, you may plan such a trip this year.
Catherine, I hope that you enjoyed your stay. Hope to meet up with you two. I’ve emailed to Mary gving my contact numbers. I’m free on Sat after 10 am only.
Joan
Hi Joan,
I’d been staying with Mary since 31/5. We went tracking, sighting seeing & fishing etc.
Sorry too busy to contact you. We’re out almost everyday & I hope you’re fine.
Keep in touch,
Regards,
Cat Ho
