Mega Abdullah – Profile

Hi SHC members,

I am a retiree, aged 67+, married with 3 grown up children.

I was introduced to the Club by Ron Lai when I met him last Thursday at the Serangoon Garden Country Club during a tea dance.

Worked as a parliamentary reporter in our Parliament for 40+ years and retired 4 years ago.  Still working part time as and when requested when Parliament sits.

Since my retirement, I have started to grow orchids again.   My other hobbies are dancing, cycling, brisk walking, holidaying, etc.  I like to visit places/countries that I have never visited before, as I love to meet people of other nationalities, learn or observe their cultures, etc.

My other passion is tennis which I play at least three times a week.  I have a tennis group and we have been playing for more than 30 years.  If there are veteran SHC members who wish to have a game of tennis with my group, they are most welcome.

    As a retiree myself, I would like to join your tennis group sometimes, i.e. when you are “short-handed”.

    Anyone whose interest is tennis at intermediate level and need a kaki may also get in touch with me at dna_sg@yahoo.com. I live in the south-western part of Singapore without access to tennis-courts and must necessary depend on the benevolence of those who do.

  4. I’m strictly a social tennis player and also spend a great deal of time out of Singapore. I used to play with the SHC tennis group but it seems to have fizzled out now that the ‘arranger of courts’ has gone his separate way. I’d be happy to join your group. Do e-mail me at zqlin52@yahoo.com.

    2) Perhaps,you could join us in this 2 in 1 PKG ( SHC Eco-Organic Farm Visit cum Innovative Salad Making Competition )at the farm. (Ad Hoc ). For more details pls. refer to this post.

    Place:Assemble at 3 PM sharp at Eco Green Circle Farm on 26/7 (Sat) OR you may follow our group and meet at Choa Chu Kang MRT outside control gate at 2 pm sharp and I will escort the whole grp to the Ecofarm by bus. Ok? Boleh tak?

    For more details ( pictures posted ) on what one expects to see and also to gain some gardening knowledge from the Ecofarm provided by our tour guide and expertise SHC member

    It’s strange that we’ve not met though we are both passionate about tennis. I’ve been playing for 51 years(31years of it in Singapore).I play at the Old Bayshore regularly for more than 10 years.Hope to meet you one day.

    Selamat datang to SHC! I hope I can be as active when I reach that age. Right now my knees are already giving way, so may have to get some tips from you on how you keep them going for a good many years.

    Is great to see that you have joined our SHC fold. Your varied activities speak for itself that you are a very active person. Your interest in orchid growing should place your garden in a spotlight in your neighbourhoods. Alice and I also share the same interest as you, lovers of plants, but of different category of flowers, we have a garden, not with orchids, but with tropical flower plants.
    One of these days we will share our interest in plant growing.
