SHC monthly Gathering, Sun 17 Aug 2008 at ECP

SHC monthly Gathering, Sun 17 Aug 2008.  We will try out Sunday morning at ECP, and see the response.  However, this gathering is confirmed ON.

  • Date: Sun, 17 Aug 2008
  • Time: 0800 hrs – 12 hrs (noon)
  • Venue:  Burger King at ECP
  • Strictly for SHC members only.  Please bring your name tag.
  • Event Organiser: Ron Lai

Some tips on transportation to ECP:

  • There are several underground tunnels leading from one side of the road of the ECP to the other side (sea-front). The one, most convenient, leading to BURGER KING is situated between Blk 14 n 18 at Marine Terrace, off Marine Parade Rd. From Marine Parade Rd bus stop, it takes 15/20mins to walk towards the tunnel. Bus services operating along Marine Parade Rd are: 31, 36, 43, 48, 55, 76, 135, 197, 853 with additional services: 13, 16, 76A, 135A, 196 n 646 operating along the same road towards Changi.
  • For those who are taking public buses to Marine Parade Road, stop at BLK 58/57, cut across the void deck of HDB estate to Marine Terrace towards BLK 14/18, thus facing the TUNNEL leading to BURGER KING outlet.

Tips on Burger King at ECP:

  • There is only ONE MacD at East Coast Parkway, next door is Hongkong Restaurant to the left and Bowling Alley to the right of MacD. The one mentioned at Big Splash is KFC, not MacD. Talking of direction facing is usually standing at the main road/srvice road, facing the outlet.

  8. Hello Amazing Grace,

Jessie would appreciate if you could make a name tag for her. She likes it printed as “Jessie Teo”.

I thank you on her behalf. See you!

  9. For those coming to the Sun 17 Aug gathering at Burger King, ECP, you may dress casually. Wear your snickers, singlets, shorties, sleepers, swim trunks, sun shades, etc.

But, must have SHC name tags. If you have not had one, please do ask Grace Wong.

    Terence Seah

  10. Hi Terence,

You have two Susan Chan on the name list #12 n #16. One of them should be Susan Tan!

  11. Hi everybody attending the monthly gathering on Sun 17 Aug 2008 at ECP. Ron Lai has accepted being the Event Organiser for this Sunday morning gathering. He will take over this event from here, and will also come up with some refreshing ideas as we enjoy seaside on East Coast.

    Thank you Ron.

  12. Hi Terence

Thanks for accorded me the E.O. for the EAST COAST PARKWAY Sunday gathering on 17th Aug., hopefully we can gather to enjoy ourselves on Sunday morning, with some of you on overnight camping on Saturday.

It will be a refreshing change for a start on Sunday get-together, no doubt some of us will be attending church services, or otherwise, but at least all of us, together with the working group are free from the hassles of working life, to spend a day outdoor, with sunshine and fresh sea-breeze.

    RONLAI.

  13. I find Burger King not affordable, and usually prefers noodles or nice items. Had been craving to eat a burger or BK breakfast during the Aug monthly gathering at East Coast.

Wow, this morning, I saw an insert advertisement from Burger King in the Straits Times. Good discount coupons there, valid to 27 Aug. Keep the discount coupons, and share with other SHCians, if you are coming on Sun, Aug 17.

    RonLai

  23. Hi everybody,

Our monthly gatherings may not have any particular topic for discussion. However, it aims to provide a platform for SilverHairs to meet new and more friends. Chatting on the SHC forum is a good way; while meeting in person is even better and fruitful. Come along, and come regularly.

    Have fun. Terence Seah

  24. HI ALL PARTICIPANTS TO THE MONTHLY GATHERING AT EAST COAST PARKWAY AT THE BURGER KING ON AUG.17TH 2008

Following our cnversations, am glad that both of you are joining us for the luncheon at GUAN HOE SOON Peranakan Restaurant after the gathering at the EAST COAST PARKWAY’s BURGER KING on 17th Aug. No doubt you will be very happy, as Mobile Lampost No 8 (Fatt, Fatt) will be there, and Terence will most probably uprooting his Scoreboard Durian Tree and bring along to EAST COAST PARKWAY to plant beside his camping site, so that “you know who” will swing from tree to tree.

    RonLai

    Have a nice day.
    Roy & Lilian

  27. Hi Terance

I come to the gathering this morning at 9.00 a.m.

  30. Hi All

Thanks for a wonderful get-together early Sunday morning at the EAST COAST PARKWAY’s BURGER KING. It was the first time try-out for Sunday Gatherings. The turn-out was good, except for those who just could not get-up so early morning, having to go to church or go marketing on Sundays.

As what Norlinda said not only “makan makan and cakap cakap” but we did our Line Dancing outside BURGER KING’s outlet, to burn out the extra calories , accompanied by our RONALD LEE’s laptop music. If that was still not enough for exercise, we had our Chatek game to follow suit, and prizes were given away.

After our Sunday gatherings, dancing and games, a group of members converged to GUAN HOE SOON Peranakan Restaurant at Joo Chiat Road for a sumptuous lunch, in which they appreciate the food.

Kim Seng Lee, we felt very sorry your mis-adventure on Sunday morning not getting to meet our Silverhairs, keep up the spirit, there will be many, many more gatherings to come.

    RonLai

Is good to organise Sunday outings once a while, a change of atmosphere, rather than the routine “9 to 5” on weekdays.

    RonLai

  31. “Kim Seng Lee, we felt very sorry your mis-adventure……..”

Kim Seng Seah camped all alone overnite when he was advised not to do so, I had to be a very big mis-adventure for him to now live and go by the family name of Lee.

In fact I was told by the rangers that round abt 2 a.m., ah sengh was screaming ij pain inside his tent after 5 burly guys in loincloth from the Lee clan entered his tent and then bang bang bang……….

Thanks Ron-L, it was a Sunday morning I enjoyed !

  32. Hi Kim Seng!

U poor guy. I was wondering why didn’t try contacting any members of SHCians? Quite a nos of us were exchanging phone nos in Burger King. So many of them holding on to our precious hp. Surely u could have alerted one of us?
    Take care!

  33. Have uploaded photos of Aug meeting. For quick access to post click http://silverhairsclub.com/2008/08/2017

There are some whom I have not met before and thus unable to put a name to the face. You can help me by responding say for example, row 3, no. 2.

Those of you who knows I know you, don’t disturb hor! As long as i do not know one person in the photo, I do not put in the name, else very rude.

I hope my caption to the photos do not offend anyone, but just enjoy ok?
