  1. Hi Terence

Please put me in for Session 2. Have not been issued with a name tag yet. Appreciate if I could get one on that day.

    Thanks

    Cheers
    Agnes

  2. Hi Agnes

Nid not 2 wori abt name tag. Its a practice tat names of members are written on stickers upon registration on event dy. Members will stick them on their clothings.

  3. Hi all,

    Oh dear ! Hans again.

Looks like I have to bring my silicone ear plugs too.

Today, special National school holiday, can sebuk sebuk in forum.

    Norlinda,lu apa macham ?
Balek sangat awal nanti takut kena sepak.
    Gelak Ketawa.

  4. Hi Terence,

Great to learn that Sep gathering will be held at Han’s.

I will attend the 2nd session, be there after 7pm.

    See you.

    Cheers!
    Sue

  5. hey everyone!
I believe I can make this meeting. No plans for traveling yet. So, count me in please for the 2nd session.
    Thanks Terence!
    Cheers, Jeremy.

  6. Hahaha!!

The empty slot from 6.00 to 6.30pm must be for toilet break for the non-working SHCs!

I will come for Session 1 please! And try to stay on for Session 2 after the toilet break.

Why u dont like Hans ah?..good centralised place..in town, ada MRT pun senang lah!…last time at Kovan..banyak susah, so jauh..must jalan uphill, downhill, cross river to reach!..haha
Apa macam awak cakap ‘lu’?..sound like Hokkien gangster!..oooppss!…sori :)

  8. Hi Norlinda,

    ….Why u dont like Hans ah?..good centralised place..in town,ada MRT pun senang lah!…

Hans tempat nya bagus dekat MRT, tapi manyak BISING dengan SHcians . Nanti balek KEPALA PUSING.! dan bunyi ng..ng..ng.. 24/7. Terok untuk aku.

    Lu means awak.

  9. Hahaha!!

    I know why there’s a half-hour break:

It’s to cool the seats for the next batch of SHCs!

    And Steven & Norlinda:

“Lu” and “gua” are Hokkien-derived words for “you” and “I” adopted by the Peranakans (Baba patois). It is commonly used now even by the Malays in Geylang as opposed to the more formal “awak” and “aku”.

Anyway, Steven is not a Hokkien “gangster”, he’s more a Cantonese mafioso! Haha!

  10. “I will attend session 2. I don’t have a name badge yet”

Girlie, I have an old badge that’s unisex and suits all names. It says “Prefect” and with that you can swagger and swank with authority at the gathering.

And if you can endure a little bit of pain, you can pin that badge a little higher on the forehead which will then make you “Head Prefect”.

Since the badge is so good, I can lend it to you but wont give it away…………..

  11. Hi Terrence,
Please register me for both. I’ll probably come 4+ & stay on to meet the 2nd group. Being new, I also dont have a name tag and will need one.

Hope you dont mind but I’m also scheduling a Tarot/Bridge session from 5pm in case there are people interested

    Thanks & Cheers

  12. Hi Terence

I am new to SHC. Please register me for your next monthly gathering on Sep 9 (2nd session) to get to know the club as well as its members better. I did read through some members’ postings on these gatherings – usually big crowd, so I hope that I won’t get overwhelmed.

    Thanks & Regards
    Caroline Sit

  13. Our monthly gathering at Han’s Cafe @ Pickering Street, 9 Sept, has been organised to enable SilverHairs to meet one another. Do use this venue to discuss interests and to know new friends.

This time, we shall be using the large corner, away from the F&B counter. When you register, please take a Hans card, which you should give to Hans counter, when you purchase your F&B items. Well, this is no discount.

Please observe the club taboos, including no direct selling and MLM. There are no set topics of discussion.

All members, please bring your name tag. If not, please write your name on a sticky label, and paste it on your dress/shirt. If you wish to attend this event, please register your name here. Please do not walk in, without registration.

  14. Hi GraceW,

I am in Shenzhen today, and would get some more name tag holders. Can only pass them to you next week at the gathering. Look forward to seeing you there.

    Terence Seah

  15. Hi Terence,
Not to worry. Will prepare names on cards first, then when u bring the plastic holders on the 9th to Hans, I will slot them in.
    Have an enjoyable trip.
    gracew

  16. Hi Terence,

Yes, my registration for session 1 is missed. Haha #51 is not obvious enough.

Grace, surely you will not miss out my name card…
Thank you all parties very much in advance.

    See you all.
    Regards,
    Lilian

  17. Hi Grace Wong,

I will collect my name tag when I attend this gathering. Hope that the one that you made previously is still around. Sorry for any inconvenice caused.

    Thanks & regards
    Peggy Ho

  18. Hi Grace

Need not to do a name card for me. I had received minewhen we makan at Esplanade during the Heart Rock Concert.

Kam Siah and see you on 9th Sep

    Cheers
    Agnes

  19. Hi Terence, pls register me for 1st session. This will be my virgin attendance at a SHC Monthly Gathering. Sorry for the last minute notice. See you folks there……not sure whether will stay for 2nd session.

  20. For today, when you come to Hans, please register with Grace and collect a Han card from her. This is not a discount voucher; but more as an indication to track our F&B purchase.

If you have not register for today’s event, please do so asap. Please do not just walk in to the event.

  21. Hi Terence,

Ok no walking in, so will be running in to have dinner at Han’s while meeting old and new members. Also for those who have questions about what is happening on the 12/13 Sept, the Line Dance, Social DAnce, Hair cutting demo, Mah jong, singalong, camping ,etc we can talk there.
I will be having the Fish & Chips, so far find it is the best better than Serangoon Garden’s Card Express Fish & Chips that someone recommended. Of course the best fish & chips I ever had was way back in the ’70s in Tengah Air Base Naafi (RAAF times). Cheers

  22. “…..This will be my virgin attendance….” Not many SHCian can say they attend in their pristine condition and nice to note that you’re one. But Ivan hor, there’re many lioness, tigress, wolverinas all hungry and all eyeing for the rare odd virgins so even battle-hardened Ivanhoe had to make a U-turn the last time.

Heee, if I were you i.e. still a virgin, I’ll only whisper into the ears of one I fall for, safer that way…………..and you will be spoilt for choices. So come dressed in your best, and for a virgin, that has to be his birthday suit complete with pacifiers to make peace.

  23. Hi chin boon,

    Veronique

  27. Hi Terence,
Hope u r feeling much better 2 day.Last nite’s meeting went on smoothly as usual although at sometime r other yr absence was noted.I think ‘Hans’ should be beaming all nite thro as there was a lot of SHC members patronising their food n drinks.A count of the vouchers was 10 left after being issued a total of 120 by the manager. Thanks to Ann Giri,Dennis n those who have helped me in the registration last nite. Thanks also to those who have bought drinks n snacks for me.It makes my job more pleasant n enjoyable.Andrew Thio thanks for yr patience in teaching us “TAROT”.It must b very ‘Terok’ for u 2 teach us new tricks to oldies like us.
    Bonjour
    Gracew

  28. Hi GraceW and everybody who helped with the event,

I am fine. Thank you for making the event smooth. Glad that many SHCians turned up. I hope members will use the monthly gatherings as a venue to meet new friends. I think this Hans Cafe is great.

Of course, we like to find new big places. If you like to lead a monthly gathering at another location, simply raise your hand.

We shd keep improving, and I am sure everybody has suggestions to make this event better. Do share them here.

  29. Now that Hong Lim Park is freed up for more liberal use, it has to be choice venue for our future gatherings. It’s just a stone’s throw away from Hans Cafe; there you can throw stones, throw party, throw and toss each other around and throw up if you cant stand being thrown around or due to morning sickness that, at our age, comes at nite.

Not at all. Do have a hoarse throat from competing with the decibel level though. :)
Think it might be the students who were bored because I kept repeating the same rules as newcomers came by. :)
