  1. Hi Terrence,

Glad to know that SHC is organising this function on 23/4. Well done.

I’m very interested in attending the function, but don’t know the location of the Hotel and how to get there. Is it possible to organise some form of transport? I’m sure that many members are in the same boat. Hope some kind soul can do something about it.
    Regards,

    R ichard

  2. Hi Richard

Just for your info, after JB custom, head towards City Square, just before city square, take the escalator down to the bus Bay, there is a public bus that states KSL, just 10mins ride, it takes you right to the door step of KSL, if no traffic jam, for M$1.50. Get your friends there.

  7. I have a wide collection of Chinese songs; and usually I buy non-
English songs. In fact, I usually do not listen to English songs.

We like to encourage you to sing your heart out at Cabaret Night 3. Not only to bring out the true you; but also to entaintain the businessmen who comes to our Cabaret each night; And, specially on Sat 24 March, for you to entaintain our SilverHairsClub members and their friends and families.

We will make sure that the songs and music will provide you the atmosphere of a Cabaret, and that you can dance to the music of the 60s and 70s.

If you love singing, please submit your song name, language, dialect so that we can register your song in the list, without duplication. Judy Lim is our song and music coordiator. Not an easy job, but I trust her to give us a good song selection for the night “The last One night”.

  17. Johor Bahru here I come. Although I have been there countless number of times, I cannot forget the first few times I was there. It was in the late 70s – during my NS. I sheepishly followed the seniors for some “excitements”. Not sure about it now but back then, the mention of JB incited many S thoughts – secretive, seductive, sensational, sexual and even sinister. Quite right, because it was simply shiok.

Fast forward to April 2016 and I am back. I want to sing a Chinese song that was very popular then and aptly describes my feelings now.

This could facilitate me in familiarize, practicing with the song lyrics, music, beat, tune, harmony etc. well to prepare for the live singing performance in Cabaret Night 3. For start, please check if you have the following songs by either of the singing duo (in Hanyu Pinyin interpretation): Tian Bian Yi Je Yan; Xiang Xe Fei Ou Rang; Do Xi Lian Ge; Rang Yi Chie Tsui Feng; Pei Zhu Ta; Xiao Shen Pa Pa; Lorelai etc.

  33. Hey Lydia,

I have added the songs you mention to me but no further additional song to be add since dateline on 31 Mar 16.

    Thanks

    Judy

  34. Judy.

Out of curiosity, did your confirmed song list include any contribution from The Wynners’ Hong Kong Canto-pop singing duo Alan Tam’s Tian Bian Yi Zhe Yian, Xiang Xe Fei Ou Rang, Du Xi Lian Ge or Kenny B’s Rang Yi Chie Shui Feng, (all in Hanyu Pinyin)? As I have some technical issue in satisfactory transfer of $40/= dinner ticket through POSB ATMs during the last few tries, I would try again on Saturday 2nd April 2016. Thanks and hear from you soon.

  35. Judy,

As these are past old cassette songs of the 70s’ and 80’s, I can hardly find such familiar discs in the marketplace in accompanying my singing participation at Last Cabaret on 23rd April 2016. . I could only recite one song or two familiar lyrics appeared not in the order from the above song list by The Wynners. I wonder if any of your SHC nostalgic music memories fans cum members may have any of their past solo DVDS or VCDs collection or if not at all? Thanks for your prompt reply.

  36. Hi Kent,

Sorry that I did not include you in the singing and the song was not submitted by the closing date. All the rest have submitted on time and would be providing their own discs.
    Hope you understand.

    Thank you

    Judy

  37. Dear SHC Co-ordinator Judy Lim,

No problem. I would try it out the next time if I can get hold of their Canto-pop discs, either in DVDs or VCDs, as these old disc can hardly be found in local marketplace.

  38. Hey Judy/Terence

I am wondering whether there is a need for getting familiar with songs which they will sing and for testing the reliability of their own VCDs.
If so I can arrange for practicing at a local CC for two sessions at least
    I will provide details later.

    Robert

  39. Hi Robert,

My intention same as you would like to arrange one KRK session in SG. However due to busy schedule in my works and can’t find the suitable timing.

Glad that if you could help to arrange the venue to share with those participants using own disks to practice.

    Thank you for your suggestion.

    Judy

  40. HI Robert/Judy and all singers

I was having the same idea too!

Can I suggest we book the Kolam Ayer CC for the practice session. Most of us have been there, and know the place, and the sound system is quite good.

Finding a suitable timeslot would be the challenge! Can I suggest Saturday, 16th April, the afternoon slot? Robert/Judy and all … is this date/time ok with you?

    Regards
    Lydia

  41. Hey Judy/Lydia

Lets agree on time slots first
From my past bookings the accompanying DJ prefers the following:
    1) 1 pm to 5 pm or
    2) 6 pm to 10pm

    Robert

  42. Due to constraints of time and space we have to take into consideration the number
of participants before we book the karaoke lounge
    Robert

  43. Hi Robert / Lydia,

Good suggestion in Kolam Ayer CC for our practise and time slot will be from 1pm to 5pm.

    Thank for your arrangements.

    Judy

  44. Hi committees / singers,

Pls take note that our singing practice session confirm will be at Kolam Ayer CC on 16 Apr 2016 from 1pm to 5Pm . Kindly confirm of your attendance, cost shared along all, do bring along your disks.

Thank you Daniel helps to booked for the KTV room.

    Judy

  45. Hi Lydiard and all,

Do bring along your disks for your solo and duet song on 16 Apr. I will collect from all of you and bring it to KSL to test your disk and numbering by sequence for the Cabaret Night. For those who are unable to attend on the 16 April, try your best to reach the hotel by 12pm if possible latest by 2pm on the actual event day.

We will make it as a rehearsal on 16 April, those who are present on 16 Apr may dance while singing.

Let have a fun day onext 16 April.

    Thank you

    Judy

    1. Hi Judy. I think it is not advisable to carry many discs to go through custom. Do not give the officers any reasons to delay/detain you.

      DC

    1. Hi Bobby, Barbara, Susan,

Ref your coming to the ballroom that you will be present between 1pm and 3pm. It will be a busy day that day for Judy and the committee. Please note that it won’t be possible to promise anyone a singing slot at their requested time. We have many singers. And, I see a long queue to sing in the afternoon. The committee will do our best.

      Terence Seah

  46. From this event, we learn that many members loved to sing. Even though we allocated max hours to singing and dancing, we are unable to give every singer a chance to sing more songs.

We definitely hope to make this evening a nostalgic one, with songs to tempt your memories of your old days. I cannot tell the difference in the various dance steps and tempo, but Judy can. So, to all dancers and singers, a good evening.

For the non-dancers, we are working out a drinking corner and a cards corner. The cards corner starts after dinner, at about 8.30pm. I cant play cards, but see you are at the table to hear the rules.

    Terence Seah

  47. Hi Terence/Judy,
Yes Daniel is right I am talking about Barbara & Susan coming to Kolam Ayer Cc on 16Apr2016 at 1-3pm & not KSL in the afternoon. Also agreed with Daniel that Judy shouldn’t carry so many vcds and put herself at risk. Cheers..
    Bobby

  48. Hi Bobby,

    Your concern much appreciate it.

Those who are participating in singing please handover your disks later by 3pm on the 23 April.

    Thank you

    Judy
