TaN Seok Wah – Profile

My name is. Tan Seok Wah.  Call me Susan Tan.  I was introduced  SHC website by a primary school teacher Jean Ong.  who works in the schooI which I am in.  I decided to join SHC, after reading the many activities organised by the club. I take this opportunity too, to thank Terence for his warm welcome.

I’m in the fifties as a I was born in the year of the rabbit. I’m working in a primary school in Jurong West as a teacher’s assistant . I enjoy  reading (thrillers, legal, criminal, ghost stories, Chinese Classics and Historical movies  and on TV during my free time) and cooking especially vegetarian cooking.

As my 2 sons are in the universities and busy with their studies and are spending less time with me and I’m hoping that by joining SHC, I would be able to make and meet new friends and to join in some of the activities.

Tonight I happen to be in SHC website and saw an article on St Joseph’s Home Visit on May 1st 2009.  My friend Jane Ong and I would like  to  volunteer as  helpers  in St Joseph’s Home..  I noticed on the volunteer list there is  a lady by the name of "Susan Tan."  That makes me want to join in as a volunteer helper and hope I can meet her on that day.

  1. Seok Wah hi,

I always kiasu, rush to say hello to you first. ” Early bird gets the worm”. Some mix up. Your profile is signed off with ‘Nur’ and 13 comments. Admin must has inadvertenely put it there.

You said you are very bad with direction and places. When told it is Tampines you end up in Clementi.
Do not worry it is easy to solve your problem. So to meet at Tampines, I will tell you Clementi and you will end up right in Tampines. Right!

Just for laughs. Hope you have a good time on board Silverhairs Cruise ship to happiness.

  2. Hi Seok Wah

Welcome, welcome to the club! I’m sure you’ll find many helpful members who will willingly help you with directions to SHC events. You just need to holler “Please Help”!

Noticed you enjoy reading the English translated Chinese classics. I’ve read the Dream of the Red Chambers English version and found it wonderful reading and romantic. I borrowed the various volumes from the library and noticed they had Romance of the Three Kingdoms too but am discouraged by how big the book is. It’ll have to wait for when I retire I think.

May I know what are the other Chinese classics available in English other than the AsiaPac comic like books and can the titles be found in the library too?

  3. Hi Susan,

A warm welcome to you…I am also a newbie here :-)

BTW, are you my long lost “twin” ??? Like you, I am also a total susa at directions. If you ever end up in Clementi, you can look for me.

Oh and although I studied Mandarin in school but my Hua-Yu is also half past six. Very embarrassing.

Veggie-tarian cooking….hmmm…maybe we can go for the cooking classes together.

    Looking forward to meeting you.

    Kind regards,
    Genet

  6. The hours are drawing nearer to the DnD. Now is 1 pm.
I just want the time to tick faster for the happening
to commence. The reason being, it is my first DnD and the parade of beauties, though not in swimsuits, but nevertheless will be a nite to remember. Such glamorous evening, an atmosphere of camaraderie and intermingling.

Guys do not be shy or you will lose out. And all the demure
shy beauties, parade your potentials to attract attention if you need it. The rush is on.

The nite of spectacular celebrations and greater acquaintance of like minded people with the right chemistry. A nite to remember with noble intention.

A nite of diverse characters meeting together on an even
platform of joy and merriment. Let us all be happy.

    Lee Pat.
