Frisna Tan – Profile

When I turned 18 in yester years, i looked at the mirror telling myself "you are now a blooming flower – gu niang  shi ba yi duo hua!". 2 days ago, when i was on the way to first time SHC meeting, i looked into the mirror again and telling myself "oh no, i’m now a silver hair!! how time flies….."

Frankly speaking, i was rather nervous going to Han’s on 12/5/09 not knowing what type of people I’m going to meet and whether i’d be awkwardly sitting alone in a corner….but luckily, the reality is not so. People are very friendly and warm. I enjoyed the gathering and made many new friends. It’s a great honor to meet the founder Mr. Terence Seah, Manager Dolly Lim. I’d like to thank Lilian Teo, Lena Ho, Jane Tan, Laura Wee, Richard Yee, Shirley Wee, Thomas Loh, Jane Loh for making me feel welcome as well as Paul & Peggy Kong for giving Pearl Goh – another 1st timer and myself a lift home.

I like travelling (been backpacking on my own to many countries in my late 20’s), sports (all sort of ball games), reading and mind boggling games (e.g mahjongemoticon).

I’m married with 1 lovely daughter (sec 3), not so handsome husband and living in the east with a poodle named Julia. Still need to work to bring roti onto the table but during my spare time (which is a lot – thanks to my well paid, flexible hour jobs) i do volunteer work at schools/RC etc (count on me if you need someone to help).

Besides English & Mandarin, I speak fluent Malay/Indonesian, intermediate French and elementary Korean…

  1. Hi Fris,

Welcome to the club. Really glad that you enjoyed your 1st gathering. Looking forward to more happy time together. Dont forget to check out our this 17 May 2009 Pot luck gathering at Botanical Garden.

With your past travelling experiences to many countries, we definitely can depend on you to organising some interesting tours for us.

Once again, welcome to the club.
    Regards,
    Lilian

  2. Hi Frisna,

Welcome to the SHC family. I was supposed to be at Hans but lost my way there, so decided to return home. I live around the East too, so maybe one of these days, we can meet up for coffee. Just like you, I have 1 child (son) and he’s now in the UK working. Sometimes I do MJ with some SHC members in the East, so do leave us your number and we can include you in one of these days. Have a great weekend. Best regards, Lisa Ong

  3. Hi Frisna,

  5. Hi Frisna

Welcome to SHC. A pity I missed you at the recent gathering. I was at my cosy corner and too lazy to lift the heavy butt.

I live in the east too but unlike Lisa, I dont MJ but I’d love a kopi and roti kaya if we meet.

    Have fun in SHC.

    Cheers
    Caroline

Welcome to the club. Wow, you can speak six languages! Hope I can practise speaking Korean with you. I’m from the North-east (near Serangoon Central). Do contact me if you are also keen to practise the language.

Wishing you a fruitful time in SHC. With warm regards…

  7. Hi Frisna,

I was not at Hans but would love to meet up and get to know you. I am also a parent volunteer in one of my son’s secondary school. Perhaps I can learn something from you and how your school collaborates with parents. I just started learning MJ (3 lessons only) so, I would have to be the one making roti and coffee….lol

  10. Hi Tim, glad i can inspire you to do something. so how many amah have you dumped and how many gu niang have you supported with your cpf?

  11. Halo Jassmine, kamsahamida. that’s all i can speak in korean haha! no lah some more very elementary words (like those picked up from the korean series). but i can READ the korean well. how so? will tell you next time we meet. it’d be nice if we can learn the language together and practice it. 6 languages is not a lot compared to those who can speak so many languages and self taught too.

  12. Hi Shirley, just came back from Senoko Incineration plant this morning with the sec 2 students. it’s their post exam visit. sure, don’t mind sharing with you my 3 yrs volunteer experience at school. as for mj? Maria, pls bring us 2 tea, 1 coffee and 1 water please….

  13. Ibu Fris, trimakasi kabar baik. Saya uda membalas semalam
dari saloran dihotmail sendirian. Mungkin lagi seronoknya

    Have a nice day

  15. #3 Paul, Sorry for not reading the SHC website often enough, thus did not see your msg. MJ with you? You must be kidding, I’ve heard so much abt your expertise in MJ and in comparison, I’m just a newbie and can only play with those who don’t ‘pau’ me and can allow me to make mistakes – that’s why I don’t play often. Anyway, would love to play with you one day, but let me save up enough first as I’ve to pay for tuition right? As for my DVD, can I take it from you after our Padang trip as I’ve been too tied up these few days with domestic problems and restructuring in the office. Will be in touch. Pls convey my rgds to Peggy too, muack2!!Rgds, Lisa
