Last week’s cycling session hd been a fruitful one. Some of us (those who hd sat at the round table) chatted n came out wif a refreshing idea. Now we see the birth of Rumours Group. What is all this "Group" about? Objective is 2 bring u the latest "Rumour" in SHC. No prize 4 guessing subject n source of reference.
Criteria :
1) Source : from SHC’s members
2) Reference : SHC’s events, people or anything u can find in SHC.
1st rumour : One member is pregnant n will give birth of National Day, 8 Aug 09.

A good man passed away recently and the ST reported his death yesterday. I hv heard of him, read abt him, admire and respect his courage to speak out altho I dont know him. Tho he has many friends near & far, he had asked for no wake and that his ashes be returned to nature……….
Why do good people pass on so easily? It’s rumoured that there’s a very big reward for folks like them up in the Court of Deities…..
YK, care to ride yr new bike all the way up, find out and tell us whether it’s a rumour. But dont get tempted by the pretty angels and sexy angies. Do wear yr helmet as a precaution…..they might not treat intruders whose time isnt up yet too kindly. Jokes aside, Karen, when i first saw this thread, I was a little surprised. Will it make rumour mongering a fad which can sometimes hurt as rumours tende to be believed…….and spread faster than the Indon forest-fire and more dreaded than the H1N1 which you cant protect with or hide behind a mask
But then, if rumours are to be told in the dark then why not give it an airing that’s for everyone to read and for those in the story to refute and rebuke?

YK, it’s quite the contrary. The tim today is very different fr the tim of yesterday……he’s going thru some kinf of a metamorphosis.
With more silverhairs, tim is seeing a lot of things as grey, that what he was cock-sure as right in the past, he isnt so sure today. The demise of this guy he considers great saddens him into thinking why this world is so miserly in maintaining the lease of the goody but bless the wicked till way beyond 85, and still virile like a bull? Jassmine Teo is quite right. Rumours can be very disconcerting to the ‘target’.
I have been the target several times already in SHC, not that I care much about what people think.
Let me tell you one episode. I have been seen with a man at a place I frequent by SHCians and word got around in SHC that I had a ‘boyfriend’.
Then someone, who claimed to be a ‘good friend’, took it upon himself to call me and warn me that there was gossip that I was going around with a married man in SHC. There was obviously some discrepency in the information somewhere. My friend is not married and not from SHC.
Gossip like that can be damaging especially if my friend came to hear and believe that I was ‘going around with a married man in SHC’.
This can be a very interesting thread if people are careful about what rumour they spread. To some, it may be all in fun, but to others, it can be anything but fun.
So, I’m going to be a ‘wet blanket’ and say, “tread carefully”.

If so basic a thot like this can fill one with joy and confidence then one is still very much a tot exploring his cot, yet to venture beyond. No, it wasnt Victor who asked for a single room after we spent 1 nite at Menangbumi together. Suffice to say that a victor comes on top and that wont be fun for a second consecutive nite. At least not for me.
Indeed, Geraldine, I did miss jack rascal when I spent the nite at Turi beach with my kid.
We were put in a hut at the mountain top with monkeys swinging in and out of the windows and lizards lazing on the couch. Obviously, the room was unoccupied for years with cobwebs hanging loosely. Rascal wd have chased all these intruders away if he was there. Anyhow it was quality time well spent with kid, and she actually got some monkeys to pluck coconuts and make drinks for her and me.
Ok, it’s a deal………that you will replace Rascal in pinning me down, with yr hands holding my legs and your legs on my hands, and…….. what a bag-sight (i.e. a sight to bag), hehe.

And, Jass, you’re right that rumours can kill. Many uprisings, riots were caused by rumours. More had tried but failed to stop or prevent rumours and gossips.

Accepting lifts from a manfriend or sharing a meal for that matter, doesn’t make him my boyfriend, but there are some who will jump to conclusions, sometimes on purpose and spread gossip that I’m having an affair! Hahaha.
Between you and me, ;-) I DO have a boyfriend, but somehow, the information got all sc—ed up in the process of gossip and voila! I am accused of having an affair with a married man in SHC.

Once upon a time, in the 80s & 90s, I have 7 dogs in my house, more than human beings in the house. But they are not my pets, worst still, I have to cook and wash their SHIT every day. All these made me very frustrated with dogs, so a rumour about my fondness for dogs is not true. Rumours are defined as statements of dubious authenticity, and this can be rather detrimental to one’s status, when these are unverified news! Rumours are all around us. We hear them every day, at work or at play. Rumours can damage reputations, erode trust and create panic, so one should tread & spread with CARE, if he or she chooses to do so!
As Mary of #29 has highlighted on the exchange of hugs which can send tongues wagging around….this is pretty true, as some Asians with ‘typically low mentality’ will start gossiping around, when they witness a couple exchanging hugs & kisses at events/gatherings. We are all living in a cosmopolitan city, and it is silly for those to make such a conclusion based on their own assumptions.
Everyone has their own mindset, and for me, I do have a strong character, hence, I’m totally unperturbed by any prevailing gossips within SHC if any, after all, SHC is created as a platform for fellow members to meet and interact, and thats where we all fit into!

The truth was, I had 3 good looking guys to pick as my room-mate. With due respect to the other 2, Victor was the best to look at, any angle, any time at nite even without light. Needless to say, we had a good time together.

After reading comments on other posts till now, I want to set the record straight; not that it means anything to anyone/everyone and even to dear Patrick Lee.
I know that rumors have it that Tim and I were ‘an item’ (before we even met. HUH??!!) till he found Marilyn and I deeply, deeply appreciate SHC friends who care enough to ‘console and comfort’ me.
Obviously, I have a ‘fondness’ for Tim through our communications through this forum the past few months since I joined and I only met him in my recent trip and we hit it off – meaning we just picked up like we’d known each other for a long time. Our lingo and language were exactly how we talked on the forum plus this. Juicy bit: I told Tim he had met his match (meaning me) for I can match word for word, thought for thought with him and even more and you know what? Tim took it in good stride – he was ever so attentive by the way during the brief time he and I spent – dinner and drinks.
Something else. I hugged Frisna Tan (another member) at the airport like we were long lost friend when she waited for me literally 50m from my plane when I arrived last month(still a very dear memory for me meeting Frisna. So a rumor is going to start that Frisna and I are ‘an item’??)
I do understand that in any social setting, there will be rumors and whatnots. Do I give a shit? Of course not. So why am I writing? Simply I do not want friends who care for me to feel bad or do not know how to react/behave when we meet. There you have it. As for those who have not even met me and already dislike me (their judgments), TOUGH!! and you can f-off.

That night at our little gathering, Patrick Lee was mouthing off that Tim was my ‘heartthrob’ even though I’d already known he had met the love of his life.
