I would like to keep up with my golf game when I’m in S’pore. Is anyone interested in playing golf in Johore or at the executive public courses in S’pore? It’s nice if there is a ladies or mixed group formed. Is there any SHcian who can arrange golf+transport to places where fees are reasonably cheap and where we can play?

There are so many golfers in SHC..especially the guys, donno where are they?..perhaps busy playing at Sentosa Serapong course with those pros!
Wow!…so nice to be able to watch world No.2 Phil Mickelson play at our local course! Im proud our homeland now is known to many countries in so many fields :)

Really I’m only a beginner and so need to practise. If not may get more rusty. In Perth I join two ladies groups and play twice a week. We play in the greens and don’t quite like to whack balls at the range only.
I like to join up with a ladies group while I’m in Singapore till Mar next year. Are you interested to join me to form a group of up to four to play in Johore? I heard that PC is not necessary there and green fees are cheaper. I can arrange transport as I have a contact.I mentioned executive GC as I heard that beginners are allowed and cheaper too.
Where is your minnie course? Why paiseh? In Perth we have SUPA Golf where we play with big clubs and balls in a mini course – great fun and not easy. Also we have just Par 3 courses.
If I can form a group, then perhaps in Nov on a weekday and early in the morning. If things get going, intend to make it fortnightly. Interested? How about Jassmine, Bira etc?

So far we played at few minnie courses namely Executive Golf Course ( EGC) at Mandai, SAFRA Golf & Country Club around East Coast or is it Tanah Merah?..oopps! & also Tanglin Golf Course…opposite Botanic Garden.

My golfing standard is subzero. If I can join a group with this poor standard, sure I’ll join and learn. Except for Mon and Thur mornings, the other weekday mornings are fine with me.

Its been six months now since i learned the game & have grew v passionate & fonder everyday!
I used to watch Discovery channel on travel or HBO/Starmovies,but now i can sit for hours on GolfChannel!..so crazy rite!..hehe
Alamak i cant give u tips at fairways la…since i always go ranges..its different when on greens,as Joan said
no fun to play at ranges!hhmmm

Wow, so many responses.Looks like must form a ladies group and Terence, perhaps you lead the men’s group. Or we can also have a mixed group, after all the men and ladies tee off at different spots. What do you all say?
Hi Pauline, looking forward to meeting you. PH, agree with Nor. You are too good for us. I was told when I first played to get on the green and that’s why I do that and find that it’s more fun.
Mornings are better as it’s cooler. As Jassmine is busy on Mon & Thu, we have Tue, Wed and Fri to choose from Please indicate which is a free day for the rest. Weekdays are cheaper and less busy I think.
Normally a flight max is 4 so we can form 2 flights if more than 4. I mentioned I know a contact SHCian for transport in Johore. She can take 4 ladies in her car. So if more than 4, need a 2nd car. Unless some of you can drive.
I need help to put names on my post. Can Terence or Admin tell me how to do it so that no need to scroll like crazy to make sure no names are left out.
Perhaps can consider 3rd or 4the week of Nov. I’m in S’pore next week but have vistors till 12 Nov and need to plan for the Craft day on 15 Nov. After 15 Nov, am OK on weekdays.
Nor, can join you at the executive course. What days do you play and the green fees?

Looks like we have a group of ladies and also Terence who are keen about golf. I was thinking that perhaps we can start a sort of a golf club under SHC where we connect and meet to play a game or two, exchange info on places to play and even travel. I can cover Perth area as I play golf and have a home there.
Example, when I’m in Perth (I’m in S’pore now) I can arrange a golf package for those interested in playing there. Already we have SHCians who have travelled up for sightseeing n fishing and met us there. We can put together things and just needs members to email us or respond to our posts.In Singapore, Malaysia etc, similarly something can be set up.
Those of us – Nor and so on, we will source out places where we can play and the green fees etc. I’m looking at JB, Port Dickson. Hope to come up with something for end Nov or Dec.
The other area I’m interested is crafts. See my Craft Day post.

Those interested in playing in JB sometimes, can we form a group and see who’s free to go up. For the ladies or maybe those who don’t drive, perhaps I’ll try to arrange transport. Or can also car pool.
It’s good to have a mix of new enthusiasts and seasoned golfers. I count myself fairly new to the game too. Also hubbies n wives or gents playing alone.
I’ve no idea of JB courses and I thought a group of us will be good company and also security. We can have 2 or more flights. I’m looking at being there early in the morning.
So any interested? Maybe for 2010?
