Cafe at Holland Village

Hi All SHC business minded persons,

There is an internet cafe ,at a good location in Holland Village on offer at $45k negotiable, complete with all current operating internet cafe stuff.etc, 20 computers.  The current rent is $4k, which is good.  Just wondering what to make of this ? Any feedback , insight , or ideas welcome for consideration or just good discussion.  If anyone is considering to find partners to run at as a small cafe, as well as an internet, & games cafe, etc. all suggestions and willing partners welcome.  Maybe a special Beer Brewing corner may be workable too. ? or turn it into a small pub , size is about 1200 sg ft.   However the current lease is for 14 months at this price , good or bad, depends on what you want or can make it with it.

Cheers, Ronald Wi

  1. Hi Ronald,

Great info on business venture! My estimate the 20 PCs depreciated cost may worth $10k @ $500 each on the open market. Must get more details to work out the worth of this offer. Have you seen the place and see the human traffic yourself?
We can discuss this subject in more details.

  2. Hi interested parties,
Took some time off to go down and look at this Internet Cafe. It is easy to find, as it is the 2nd row of Shop houses, i.e behind “Cold Storage”,which is open 24hrs, and it is directly above Subway. The Internet Cafe is operating with about 20 computers, and while i was there, there were about 5 boys playing Internet games, and about 5 people using the internet. The place is a little old, and the current setup is not too well down. Overall the space consists of 2 big rooms, with only 1 person running the show, and provding others services, photocopy, faxing, printing, etc. I was told there are also 2 store rooms behind. Overall i find it might possibly operate as a Food Cafe and internet, but alot of design has to go into it. Being the last house in the block, it is a little away from the Main road attraction, but for a brand name , it can however be easily made to stand out. The 20 computers and server are ok but the monitors are the old crt type and needs to be replaced. The price of 40k has to be reduced by half to be some kind of bargain. Interestingly Holland village seems to be quite alive even on weekdays and incidentally i met a friend operating a drink stall in the new hawker centre doing good business but with 2 new Food courts being open recently, business has gone down a little. I suggest it is good just to take a look at the place, if just to know a little bit more about this Foreigner”s village

    Dear Ronald

It was nice talking to you a short while ago. As I mentioned to you, I discovered the Silver Hair Club through the eNN newsletter a few months ago and attended the first gather of the club after I joined at Han’s Cafe at China Square. As I arrived late that day I did not get the opportunity to introduce myself and get to know many of the members.

I also did not access the club’s website until today and found some of the postings very interesting. It is a pity I miss the hands-on course on ebusiness and hope there will be another opportunity for me to participate in this course.

Actually, the idea of a “Flea Market” is very good. However, I know that most Singaporeans are not ready mentally with this idea. I would suggest that those who are interested in thisflea market idea can get together and organise one. We can sel lnew and old things and at the same time contribute to a charitable cause by donating certain percentage of our takings. What do you think?

I am also interested in line dancing and the eco village tour. However, for the latter, I cannot participate right now as I am still working but hope to quit my full time job some time next year. Though I am 60 years old, I am very active, fit and keep myself busy working out at the gym twice a week and attending aerobics class once a week, in addition to doing line dancing one to two days a week.

Please include me in any meetings or activities that the club organises from time toi time as I would like to be involved in the club’s activities.

    Thank you and best regards.

  4. Hi Jenny,

Do join the monthly gatherings. I myself find it valuable to meet fellow SilverHairs.

On the Flea market, from suggestions, we have moved this activity to 2GreenDots. Feel free to raise the topic of Flea market again.

    Keep in touch.

  5. Hi there

I maybe new to you guys and gals. I am running my own bookkeeping, company secretarial and payroll firms.

Before you get started to invest something in that category of business, let me share with you the successful rate of the F & B business especially pubs and cafe.

Not that I am trying to discourge all of you, its is going to be a tough busines if you wants to breakeven within the first 3 years, unless your services and place and location are something in demand.

As I have and is doing accounts for the F & B, only those with special items are really making, otherwise, it is not very good to go into F & B.
