Time of the year to give calendars and diaries

Nowadays, it is very difficult to be given a desktop or wall calender.  Probably, the cost of producing calendars are just too high.  So, companies dont give.  Well, some of you may be lucky or your companies are doing well.  They may give up diaries and calendars.  But, some of you may not want to use diaries; instead you use PDAs and smartphones.  The luckier ones may receive exotic calendarsl, and dont want them too.  Probably too shy to hang them on the wall.

Well, dont throw them away or keep for 2012.  If you have a calendar, wall or desktop, or a pocket diary or desktop diary that you dont one, please mention here.  Bring them to any of the gatherings between now and end of 2010.  I am sure some souls will love it.

So, dont throw away the new diaries or calendars.  Time of the year to share.

  1. Hi Henry & Rosalind

Appreciate your gifts. I do need a diary and will collect it from Bratislava Cafe.

Thank you and do have a pleasant week ahead. And thank you Terence for a timely reminder.

    Regards

    Abel Tan

    abang abel tan ,

jagan marah hor….saya beli kopi ya….

  3. Haha Sam,

I didnt know you need so many diaries. What you are doing is a great cause, giving diaries to orphanage kids.

SilverHairs should continue to write diaries, so that they know and remember what happen yesterday. And, also tomorrow, which we sometimes forget.

    Fellow SilverHairs,

So, now is November. Any diaries and calendars around? Dont throw them away, if you dont need them.

  4. Hahaha!

I just bought meself a small pocket diary for A$2.49 at a cheap shop in Melbouorne. Nowadays, I need it more to remind me of the date… and maybe put in an appointment or two.

Diaries and calendars are extinct in Singapore. I used to ask people (clients and relatives!) whether they wanted a diary or calendar as I could save some money just ordering the exact numbers I need from the insurance company. The response was very poor as most had a palm or smart phone to keep their dates and appointments in.

Those large Chinese tear-away daily calendar blocks may be more useful though. But we still have to remember to tear the previous date off!

  5. Hi Terence & Abel Tan

I still have few table calendar for 2010, kindly let me know how to hand it to you ?

As for next year calendar, I will collect as much as possible and hand it to you in Jan 2011.

  6. Hi Terence,

Correct me if I’m wrong. I think you only want us to hand you 2011’s calendar and not 2010 right since it’s less than 2 months away. We usually discard any leftovers of our calendars and any extra calendars given to us, I usually give them away to friends or anyone who wants it. Will keep your request in mind and inform you or Sam of any available. Have a good weekend everyone. Regads, Lisa O

  7. Lisa-O, 2010 calendar still has plenty of uses hor. Give them to me as well as let Fred out on a day release, just 1 day will do.

We will go to the highest of the Duxton flats, find a corner to squat and make aeroplanes with the calendars.

Our planes wont hv engine troubles; indeed, they dont need any engine – rolls royce nor rose white – to fly, With fare at half price and devoid of engine risks, they shd sell like hot cakes in these school holidays.

You can be our principal agent and rope in others to sell the tickets for us. We pay very good commission.

Heee…………(looks like Lisa will lock Fred up till next year to keep him away from a madcap with a venture too adventurous for a healthy heart……….and a healthy mind).

  8. Hi Tim #10,

Good to hear from you again and your sense of humour. Will be more than happy to have you take Fred away from me you can both go and built your planes and what-nots for as long as you like, hahaha…….

Was just going thru some of the pics taken at one of SHC walks and saw you holding 2 or 3 umbrellas, didn’t know you double up as a caddy too kekeke………

Hope to catch up with you in one of the SHC activities soon.
I’ll be shooting off to Hua Hin (South of Thailand) with some SHC member this Thursday! It’s good to have a short break once in a while.

    Regards
    Lisa

  9. I have always said that Fred marries well and never got tired of envying his great fortune of having Lisa-O as his better-half. Now that permission is granted, Fred will have sometime with his bad-half me.

We will make a very big plane, bigger than A380, and will operate it ourselves.

We will designate our maiden flight to Beijing. Sincae it’s a maiden flight, we will only sell seats to maidens (maids no, mermaids, can). Fred will fly the plane and I will take charge of cabin service and will give massages to passengers.

The next flight to Zimbabwe, Fred and I will switch role. I fly, he massage. Will his hands change color? Dont bet on it, hehe.

The 3 umbrellas? Haha, I’d rather be hit by snowballs than to be seen gelek gelek fending off rain.

It was the magnanimity of a fellow SHCian who not only took out an umbrella for herself but another 2 on standby in case the drizzle turned into a downpour and SHCians wd need them for some shelter.

The rain steered clear, seeing me hopping like a drunk Chinese vampire. Since I had unwittingly deprived people of their use, I had to take responsibility of the payong. No issue, they were just like sling guns, more up-market than the rifles carried by Mao during the Long March.

Yes, I too look forward to meeting up with you very soon, and Fred in his Chief Steward’s suit.

Meanwhile, please enjoy your holiday in Hua Hin and if you do find an old man meditating in a cave with hanging bats, please give my contact # to him. He is Master Mao……..?????

But not that fella who says he meditates a lot. Look carefully (he usually wears an off-beat hat, check DNA if necessary)….he may be hiding in the cave screwing bats.

  10. Haha Tim, whatever roles you and Fred plays when you’re both on the plane is entirely up to you both – once freedom is granted, I never look back, n afterall, you only live once and life is short any anyway! Tks for yr good wishes for my coming trip, will certainly keep a look out for that ???? when I’m there. Rgds, Lisa

  11. Lisa-O, you bring sunshine everywhere you go and I am told that the Hua Hin folks are all waiting excitedly to meet this sunshine gal. The province will light up with your infectious good humour.

Please enjoy yourself in friendly company and dont spend too much time looking for the Mao Shan abbot.

  12. Halo Tim & All,

we’re all back from Hua Hin liao. Beautiful place, nice people, good food and most enjoyable, cheap and good massages for 1000baht for 3 whole hours (where in S’pore can you get that?) We all went ga-ga over the mango & glutinuous rice and could not stop eating, even at the airport, we all had to buy another packet each before boarding the plane. If you’ve not been there, you shd make a trip and see for yourself. Sheraton where we stayed was beautiful and the pool is just at your doorstep! Will share more info on the trip when I meet you at the next SHC activity. Have a nice day & week everyone!, Rgds, Lisa O

  13. Haha, Lisa-O, the airport sent me a sms last evening shortly after the plane touched down. Earlier, it was closed for a solid 2 hours in preparation to welcome you, fellow trippers and the glutinuous mangoes home.

Simply and crisply, you have told what the trip was like – fun and more fun.

Will catch up at the next monthly meeting (realise there isnt 1 this month?)

  14. **(^_^)** Good morning Terence, Abel, Sam and all…

I’ve about 4 desktop calendars, 2 management diaries and 1 wall calendar to be given away too…

Dolly, will you be at Bratislava Cafe tomorrow or Fri ? If yes, can I hand it to you ? Pls let me know the day / time you’ll be there, then I’ll make a trip down. I’m on leave so timing wise I can adjust accordingly… *(^0^)*

Cheers and a HaPPy Holiday to all… – Pauline

  15. Pauline Dear,

Could you reserve 1 Management Diary for me please? Will be joining Carly’s Prom Nite Mtg @ Brastilava Cafe on 8th Jan, will pick it up from Dolly on that day.

Thank you and Happy New Year to you & all SHC members too!

    Cheers!

  16. Weiwei Pauline,
Tis wk hor, I bo cheo kang leh… oli will b bck 2 wrk on Jan 8 11 lor… festive holi mah.. tio bo? But if u pass by cafe, can leave them there wif Venika or Marg lor.. ai sai bo? Happpy New Year… Cheers… Dolly

  17. Hi Pauline,

Could I please have the wall calendar. I would like to hang a calendar on the wall, as my desk is really cluttered, and no space for any desk calendar.

It’s so sweet of you to share the good stuffs with us. I will pick up from the cafe when it arrives. If you are free to meet up for lunch, let me know too.

    CHeers, Lydia.

  18. (Wa_ah)… Dolly #20….so nice.. long break… envy leh…(~_~)

(o_k)… no problem… will pass it to either of the ladies at Bratislava Cafe..

Sue dear #19… I will “carve” your name in red on the box and let whichever pretty lady I hand the goodies to; to take note of this “reservation”… (o^_^o)

Lydia #21… you may need to take a look at the wall calendar as I’m not sure if it’s the type that you’ve in mind. This wall calendar can view 3 months in a row eg. Jan month at the top, Feb in the middle and Mar at the bottom. Good thing about this calendar is it comes with quite a big font size so you can hang it from a certain distance and still see the date as it has a red marker which you can slide it along for each day.. **(^_^)**

I may have 1 or 2 of the small calendars which can fold up like a small tent which showed 6 months on each side.. if the wall calendar is too big, maybe you can tack this on your wall instead ?… (^_~)

Well, need to borrow some of Terence’s words here… – It’s the “time of the year to share”.. and I’m very happy that “some soul will love it” instead of me not knowing what to do with them as I don’t like to throw away things that could be useful to others… (>_<)

As for lunch, I “game for it” since I’m clearing leave tomorrow & Fri. Do drop me a line at FmFaBb@yahoo.com.sg tonite and we’ll take it up from there… \\(^o^)//

    Cheers – Pauline

  20. Good morning, Freda#24

Definitely your presence would be most welcome. It would be nice, once in a while, to enjoy a leisure lunch/tea/coffee with friends.. #(^o^)#

I haven’t heard from Lydia yet… and if she can’t make it tomorrow, I could still meet up with you. You’ve got my contact so we’ll liaise from there, (o_k) ??

    Cheers – Pauline

Since Freda’s email has your email address, I will drop you a line to give me a call ya… ^o^ There’s another date I’m available for lunch… we’ll chat from there… (^_~)

    Cheers – Pauline

  24. Had a mtg in the morning with this guy serving his last day 2day but without a proper hand-over of tasks. Bought him a 1926 wine but was so incensed that I wanted to clobber his head with the bottle, saved by a timely sms which cheered me up and saved him.

I too hv a few desk calendars to give away. They are all naked ones, all in the nude…..absolutely undressed and uncovered. All beauties. Even the calendar maker describes it as “stunning”.

Will pass them at the Bra tomorrow after the rush hours, at abt 2 p.m. (assuming it doesnt hold back its Management from knocking off early but if it does, pl advise).

Giveaway preference is to SHCians but if no taker (dont think so tho), can offer as a sweetener to customers.

Ultimately, it’s at the discretion of the Bra people.

  25. Hahahahahaha………someone just hanged up on me.

He called to reserve a calendar – the nude ones he said – and will pick it up from me. He was also curious whether they were angmoh babes or dragon gals.

I told him one type is manufactured by angmohs and the other, dont know planted by who.

Obviously, he didnt know that the calendars are a show-off of machinery/heavy equipment and flowers. Nobody clothes or covers them in a calendar.

Anyhow, they look pretty enough and are certainly functional if what one seeks in a calendar is to look at the dates and the fengshui.

  26. Hi all!

I noticed there were no takers for the desk calendars Pauline and some others are giving away. As I’ve been so busy these few days (mother and mother-in-law in hospitals), if anyone is still looking for desk calendars please post here. That is, if all the desk calendars offered by other SHCians are already taken.

    My apologies… :(

    Ros
