Happy Birthday to SilverHairsClub on its 6th Birthday, Oct 2011

SilverHairsClub started in Oct 2005.  With some friends, we conceived the idea of a social group for Singaporeans, over 45.  The idea was to develop a small group of friends whom we could enjoy our time through the years.  However, being novices in this area, the original group of founders were not sure of its success; but we decided to build it on a small scale, step by step.  To keep it as a platform for SilverHairs to meet other SilverHairs, we adopted a few taboos, more because we did not know how to manage these discussions.

While SilverHairsClub is seen as a blog or forum, it is now very much a Club for members to meet and interact with one another.  SilverHairsClub is both virtual and online; and yet it functions as a Club where members meet.  SilverHairsClub.com serves as a focal point for sharing and interaction.  A place where members get together to organise events, chat about this and that, and knowing other members with similar likes and dislikes.

SHC has undergone some small changes over the years.  In the coming months, I hope to see a bigger platform where members can get to meet new and more members.  On the ownership of SilverHairsClub and SilverHairsClub.com, I have made the  move to transit it from an individual ownership (myself) to SilverHairs Enterprise Pte Ltd.  Hopefully, this will receive better recognition and acceptance within the Singapore community.

So, this month is our 6th anniversary, or our 6th birthday.  I hope you will celebrate this birthday occasion with other fellow SHCians.  Happy Birthday to SilverHairsClub.

  1. Terence,
It’s a gd idea suggested. Will look forward to support it if time and place permits. It is like another “D&D” where all members can gather together to enjoy and meet one another on a bigger scale. Let see what other members have to say about it.

  2. Tian Soo….

I’ve always enjoyed your subtle jokes!! Yea, i agree.. a few more years, and we’ll cry blue murder. This club needs more jokers like you.. no fighting .. no calling of names.. or high drama.. where we get our hopes high.. only to find it dropped down to rock bottom.. !!

Let’s take it easy.. hv fun & jokes.

Wish I could join in the party this weekend, but i’ll be away overseas.

U guys enjoy.. joke.. and stop fighting.

    Happy 6th birthday, SHC!

  3. Happy 6th Birthday SHC, wishing you more happy n good years ahead.

haha #04 Tian Soo, it’s interesting. In yr view has the age of a club hv anything to do with fighing n murder? Tells us more haha wht r the probs & how you think things need be done so there wud be no fighting n murder? Hope you share yr view, making sweeping statements r quite unhelpfull. thanks

  4. NAME-CALLING can either be a show of affection or aggresion.

I call my smoker-friend, “opium king”. He laughs when we are among close friends but turns blue when there are strangers, particularly ladies, around. So it is not what we say that matters but where we say it.

Writing on forum sites is faceless, emotionless and expressionless. The words tell all and they are subject to all kinds of interpretation. Be mindful with our “jokes”.

Thank You Terrence for starting SHC. For the last 4 years, one of my “must-visit” sites is this site.

    HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY, SHC!

  5. Oh Henry, Oh Henry.
I hope you are not angry
    It is only me
    Trying to make everyone happy.

This poem thing is contagious. Even I, think that I am a poet.

In every large family there are frequently 1 or 2 naughty ones. There will also be others who would not tolerate nonsense. So we have fights. It is the duty of the parents to decide what is accepted and when to take action. Fortunately, I am not the parent here, so it is not my position to do or say what should be done.

We have Terence and a Fire-ry Godmother, they have decided to let the altercation continue and it has increased the hits on this website from 3000-9000 to 12,000 per day. This would make the site more valuable. Thanks to your contribution as well.

I think if there is a murder, we will get over 500,000 hits and some ministers would want to be associated here. Terence can be very rich. Let’s wait, we are still young.

It can also be that at 6 years old, Terence and our God mother are still trying to figure out how best to encourage participation, instead of stifling interest in discussion by interfering.

Off course, I am just guessing only.

  6. Oh Tian Soo Oh Tian Soo,
    hahahaha
“It is only me Trying to make everyone happy.”
“Off course, I am just guessing only.”

    first quote is commendable hahaha
but “just guessing only” on the route to take to construct the post to achieve 1st quote is at best a dicey proposition.

Anyway you are far wiser & experienced than many of us here.
sincerely no hard feelings at all hahaaha

  7. Yes, Terence, this is one of your best moments! A Toast to you and your other good Founders who brought us pride; as this is where we members get acquainted by meeting more new friends & getting to know them better by participating at major events.

Taking this opportunity, I would like to wish SHC a Very Happy 6th Birthday! Strengthened with our new corporate entity ~ SHC Enterprise Pte Ltd, we look forward to more rousing events organized and a continuous growth in membership in the ensuing years!

    Cheerio!

  8. kong xi kong xi ,wan siu wan siu to shc …ah hiah terence …& de other founders wish many more tok kong yrs to siow siow hor….& lastly tai kay ai hua yee hua yee tio ho lah…….

  9. Thank you Terence for the vision of this unique Club. I thought I have found a place where I belong and identify with. I was able to meet so many new friend from whom I got to share in many exciting events and activities.

Some were lasting friend whom I continue to get involve in various adventure outside the Club. Was it to fulfill a vacuum in my own life that I started to organize different activities for our member.

Every day was an opportunity to look anxiously at the post for new friend or event to participate in. Without doubt much hullabaloos were exposed on the post and we get to meet different character portraying their life and idiosyncrasies. But what is life without these strange and strong character. It really make this a colorful and exciting place to be, otherwise our life will fade into the horizon without the satisfaction that we live our life to the full!

I do wish I can continue to contribute more to the Club except for the fact that I still need to sustain a meagre livelihood. It been almost four years since joining the Club and I do wish that more of us will step forward to invest their time and effort to make this Club as vibrant and fulfilling as ever.

How about having our next D&D together with the Club birthday.

Three cheers for the Silverhairs Club!

    Dan

  10. Oh Tian Soo Tian Soo cum Henry Henry

  11. Hi everybody,

Thank you for the success and vibrance of SilverHairsClub. If you review carefully, the success has come about because of the participation of members. The EOs are the ones who are holding the pillars of SHC.

Daqn, I note your suggestion of an event together with the next birthday. We wait next year then. Didnt plan for it, although I know that Charles is bringing a birthday cake to celebrate at tomorrow’s monthly gathering.

Time flies and I didnt realise that I have joined the club for so many years. I have been a ‘dormant’ member and have not attended any event in the past. This year, SHC’s 6th year is also my primary school graduation year!

Terence and pioneer members, thank you for starting the club. Congratulations and happy birthday SHC!

    Long live SilverHairs Club!!!
