Geraldine Ting starts her new role as Club Manager wef 1 Mar 2012

Hi fellow members,guys and gals,
SilverHairsClub SHC has been around the last 6 years. We have an informal infrastructure, with activities and discussions organised by members putting in their heart and soul, for the benefit of the entire club members.  Thanks to the many Event Organisers EOs who have drawn SilverHairs together.  Our key objective to provide a platform for SilverHairs to meet new and more friends has worked; and we will continue to work towards fulfilling this objective.  A number of EOs have remained active, month after month and year after year.  We should also thank all the Event Coordinators ECs, who have shared with us their joy, hobbies and interests, by inviting us to their events, while taking care of SHC members as a group.

We do not have many supporting roles.  Key ones include our Picture manager and our Online Fleamart coordinator. And, not forgetting the Club manager.

Whenever I am in Singapore, I eagerly attend little gatherings here and there to look for a Club Manager.  Well, this time, I believe I have been successful. The term starts 1 March 2012 and ends 31 Dec 2012.  Some of you may know her; she is Geraldine Ting; her main residence is in Hong Kong.  She joined SHC in March 2009.

Although she lives overseas, she is a vibrant lady in the club. Someone who speaks her mind; but the best thing about Geraldine is she is full of nonsense.  She is creative and has good PR.  But, wait until she speaks her mind.  That’s all I know about this lady.

What I hope with Geraldine coming onboard is to see more excitement and vibrance in SHC.  We may be into our SilverHairs years; but we are also entitled to put a new life ahead of us.  And, by excitement and vibrance, I mean maximising creativity and imagination.

Welcome on board as the new Club Manager of the SilverHairsClub.  Let’s all welcome Geraldine.

  2. Welcome on board our new Club Manager, Geraldine. Totally agree with Terence, we need someone who speaks well and with good PR skill like Geraldine to be the Club Manager.

    Geraldine! “Jia Yu”……

    Ah Nee

  3. My dear kawan in hk,
Now that you are in such an important role, I cannot be simply watching quietly from the sidelines without giving you my support. Will try to be more active in the future, because of YOU! CONGRATULATIONS!!! A 9-month role is not enough.

  4. OK. So when can we have the Orgy which I hear Terence mention a few times before.

I also want Hong Kong Wanton mee with many wantons…..while I can still eat.

  6. QUOTE Terence, “Although she lives overseas, she is a vibrant lady in the club. Someone who speaks her mind; but the best thing about Geraldine is she is full of nonsense. She is creative and has good PR. But, wait until she speaks her mind. That’s all I know about this lady.”

Such a person is hard to find and is a gem in a corporation. He/she can be friendly and fun when it comes to leisure and things of less importance. But neither fear nor favour when discussing about serious matters that will affect many. WELCOME Geraldine. The dragon has awakened. Keep a free rein but crack the whip when necessary. We are just beside you.

  7. This reminds me of foreign talent. Now we have one in our midst! :)

Congrats, Geraldine, on your appointment as the club manager. Terence didn’t let the cat out when we saw him at the Chiangmai talk, but he had a secret smile and didn’t add to the talk that the birds and the bees in Bangkok is a BIG lure for S’pore men to stay there long term!………lol! just joking!

  8. Geraldine Congrats! How you shake things up abit here hahaha

Remember it’s all for the common good & not for some narrow interest. Be assured of strong support when this slogan stands strongly & proud ! cheers !

  9. Dear Miss Low in HK

Mwah!!! Thank you for your support.

Very happy that you’ll be more active.

p/s hopefully you are not sick of me before the term’s up and ignore me in HK. Catchup when I’m back.

    Hi Moth-watching Farmer

It would be nice if you organize the Orgy Nite. Bet it will be exciting and successful. Let us know.

As for your wanting lots of wanton, beware of indigestion, dear; want to see more of you at gatherings and events.

    Baby Goat

    Thank you!

Please continue to call me Tender Cow; nothing has changed – I am still me and want your love, darling.

Can’t wait to see you on the 15th and take up where we left off……….hmmm, hmmmm, whisper, whisper.

    Hi Daniel, my new fren

Thank you for your support and the encouraging words.

    Hi Poet Jassmine

    Thank you!

Yes, when Terence met up with me, he also had a secret smile which scared and excited me………

    Hi Henry

    Thank you!

I don’t intend to ‘shake’ anything here, kekekekeee……..

‘It’s all for the common good…’. Absolutely!

  10. Hi Geraldine

I am so thrilled for you. It has certainly been quite a long search for Terence to find the right person.

BINGO, I should say he really make the right choice.

With your bubbly personality, I am sure the Club will scale to new heights.

My HEARTIEST CONGRATULATIONS to you and you can be assured that you will have my full support, and I will try to be more active from now on.

    Myra

  11. Hi Geraldine,

    Do u remember me?

We’ve met, during the Batam trip, and also during the Shanghai night. You might not remember how I looked, but I sure remember you as a very outspoken HK lady. In Singapore, and esp in the SHC website, we dare not be so outspoken. We are all very afraid to speak our minds. Now that our CM is an outspoken lady, we can all speak up.. yipee… ! 3 cheers. I’ll try my best to come for the gathering at Hans on 24th, and I’m sure alot of members will come, and meet this “dragon Lady”.. a foreign talent too (quoting Jasmine). We’ll have a party on 24th!

Congrats on being the CM. Terence has made a good choice.

  12. Hi Gabriella

Thank you! So happy that you remember me.

    Myra dear

    Thank you!!

It’s great to know you will be more active. Sweets….

    Hi Lydia

Yes, I remember you and thank you for your support.

I certainly hope to catch up with you on the 24th.

  13. Congratulations Geraldine on your role as CM. “Jiayu”

Terence must be so glad when you said yes.

Much thanks to Dolly too for her hard work and efforts during her reign as CM.

Love to all SHCians this Valentine’s Day!

  14. Hi Geraldine!

Congratualtions & Welcome back to S’pore!

Hope to catch with you one day!

You will have all my support although I’m not very active now!

    HAPPY VALENTINE DAY!

  15. Dear Geraldine,

You fit the role well with your determination, strength, and pragmatism! ~ Congrats!

With your enthusiasm, we shall all look forward to more exhilarating events organized in the near future.

    Cheers!!

  16. Oi Cheng!!!

How nice to hear from you…..and thank you!

You’ve been too quiet. Do chat with us more often.

Yes, Dolly had certainly worked hard and I am glad she has given me full support.

    Hey Cat

    Thank you!

Want to meet up with you this trip.

How can I make you active? Kekekekeee.

  17. Hello Geraldine, I have not met you but know you’re one of the wacky writers in the Forum I always look forward to “seeing” there. I like it when Terence said you’re full of “nonsense”, well I can draw one hilarious example – you said “shy no more as we are a friendly bunch and you will also get to meet Terence.” haaahaaaa.. superstar Terence!. I’ve been with SHC not very long but nonetheless feel good that you’re the CM – ladies’ hunch is 100% correct la. Hope to see you at the Charity Lunch!

  18. Hi, Geraldine,

Congratulations !! i am NEW in SHC.
WOW!! your popularity index is as high as Michelle Obama and you did not even need to do Push Up lives…on TV..
Before your term is done, i am sure you would be invited to
some ‘tea party’ somewhere..cos’ you as Canindate for Hou kang
sure would generate lots of votes to win….
Hope to meet up with you!!ALL the best & enjoy!

  19. Hi Terrance – How delightful to hear that Geradine is the new CM

Hi Geradine – SHC must be loving you lots…….Gan Bei …

Hi Felice #26 – “did not even need to do Push Up” hahahaha

  20. Hi Blood-giving Patrick

    Thank you!

It was nice meeting you and your lovely wife, Linda.

    Hi Susan

Thank you so much for your support especially the fact that we have not met.

Basically Terence is now a dead man for saying that. Kekekekee…..

I will have to live up to the ‘ladies’ hunch’ and not disappoint you or our members.

Sadly, I will not be at the Charity lunch. However, it will excite me if you are able to join the Feb monthly gathering at Han’s on Fri Feb 24 before I leave.

  21. Hi Felice

    Thank you!

You know what? I wanted to attend the Chiang Mai discussion to meet you as you are bubbly but only read of the ‘on-again’ meetup after it was over. Kakakaka.

Now that you have signed up for the Feb gathering, I have another chance to meet you. Yes!

  22. Hi Molly

    Thank you!

Can’t wait to see you at the gathering. Catchup then.

    Hi Lai Fong

Thank you! I am back (since last week).

It’s been a long time, indeed, since we last met. Care to join us on Fri Feb 24 at Han’s?

    Hey Freda

    Thank you!

Hope to see you at Han’s.

  23. 2012 looking good for SHC….new members, new photo manager, new club manager, new VJ manager, new corporate member, new what…er…vibrating…vibration…vibrator…
er…I mean more VIBRANT activities lah……(what’s getting into in my mind?) hahahahaaa!!!

    Keep it Commming!!! ?

And Oh!! Congrats to all new appt holders….also not forgetting our new SHC Banner Holder Ah Huat!

  24. Seldom log-in here and wonder if there is a change of guard ceremony and with so many National Day Award style congratulatory messages.

There are so many generals (managers) but it appear there is no soldiers. How to fight ‘war’ without soldiers?

How can give Ah Huat a Banner Holder ? Must give him Banner Manager if not Banner Director. :)

  25. Hi Geraldine

when someone told me you are the new CM, my reaction was “is she living in spore now?”. from this post it doesnt seem so. guess you are going to come back once or twice a month to take care of SHC? thats good. create more traffic for changi airport and i will make sure the hunky sq pilot upgrade you to a special class for being a frequent flyer!

would like to attend your maiden monthly mtg but fri is my working night, so can only read abt the excitement you created in this post….

    cheers!!

  26. Hi Frisna

    How have you been?

You still remember the hunky pilot! Cool.

    Thank you for your support.

I will come back as and when and we will all stay in touch via this forum.

It’s a pity you are unable to attend the Feb gathering so we will ‘see’ each other here.

    Take care,

  27. Hi GT #35,
Am having a prior seafood dinner appt with some poly-mates returning from Thailand on 24Feb. So, dun think can see you at the mthly gathering this time. Thanks for asking. See you next time.
    Cheers!

  28. Hi Sweetie Geraldine, The Shanghai Niteclub Towkay Soh

Kong Xi Ni on your new role as CM, glad you took up this challenge although you are in HK most of the time. Does that mean you will fly down more often in 2012 for some of the upcoming SHC big events like D&D?

Like Terence said “You’re full of nonsence”, haa.haa I wonder what nonsence ideas or activities you’ll come out with during your reign hee..joking only lah don’t get angry ok?

    Cheers
    Hamidah

  29. Hi Hamidah

    Thank you, Sweets!

I will try my best to come back for s/m/l/xl events……..

How can I get mad at you when you sang your heart out at our fly-by-nite niteclub?

  30. Hi Geraldine

Just read the post and know you are our new CM, congratulation to you.

In my mind, 2010 is the most exciting year in SHC, started with the Cabaret night, then followed by the Freaky tGiF Nite , the Pyjamas Nite, the Beach night, the KELONG, the 2D1N Pengerang/Ramunia cycling.

2011, seems to have calmed down, only have the One Nite in ChinaTown and the Prom Nite.

This year 2012, with you as our CM, I think the SHC will be vibrant again. ??.

I have loss my job due to MIA, should have more time to attend the SHC activities if I can overcome my phobia of people.

  31. Hi Andrew

    Tor Tze!

Sorry to hear of your job loss.

As for your phobia, just relax, join activities that you know you will be at ease with and most importantly, mingle, introduce yourself and when others want to get to know you, it’s your turn to make them feel relaxed.

Hope to see you (if you’re back) before I leave.

  32. Dear Geraldine :)
Alamak! Hope im not too late to congratulate you online
on your new apptmt as a vibrant n lively CM;)
    Wow!what a job eh..hehe

Actually i was going to register for the mthly gathering,
    then tumble on this thread!hhmm..

    Well done!Terence
U have picked a very sophisticated n playful Lady Luck!haha
whom im sure will be a great ambassador!:)

  33. Hi Geraldine

Sorry to occupy your space again. I have said something not so correct in my previous comment (#41) and want to clarify a bit

Don’t sorry for my job loss, I resigned myself as I have to MIA to roaming. My writing has raised some friends concern, and e-mail to console me. Thanks

I said I have phobia of people also not right. Few years back, when I visited HK, I discussed this with one of my friend who is a counselor, she told me I don’t have phobia of people. I am just lazy, selfish, and not acquaint with people easily which make me not interactive with the others. She explained that is why I indulged in line-dance, because I like to do thing with many people (I don’t afraid people) but don’t have to care (lazy and selfish) about them. That is also the reason I don’t like social dance.

Last year, due to some reason, I started to like the social dance and also inspired by the open sharing of Steven, I hope I can change my way to make friend in the future (Hope can overcome my laziness and selfishness).

Cannot meet you this time, still indulge in my roaming and no plan to return. May be we will meet in May or June when I back to HK to collect the HK$6000. Will contact you and Ivy at that time for a Wanton noodle. Are you convenient to give me your contact number (my e-mail is wcyeung28@hotmail.com. Thanks

  34. Haha Andrew

After reading your clarification, does your ‘Hope can overcome my laziness and selfishness’ also incorrect?

Yes, indulge in your roaming; life is short.

Will be happy to catch up with you in HK over a bowl of wonton noodles with Miss Low. I will email you my contact.

As for the HK$6,ooo, I’ve spent mine…..kakakakaa. Wonder if Miss Low has spent hers? Oh, I think you’ll get an extra HK$200 if you apply after April this year. Not certain, though.

    Happy roaming!

  35. Hi Andrew,
Long time no see, how have you been? Glad that you still remember me. Yes, we had a few k’ok sessions together with some other SHC friends before and even after I moved to hk. Laziness and selfishness? Not possible, I remember you to be a nice and friendly guy, rushing from work to join us. Take a good break first and move on to do something that you like. Also, it is time to slow down, fren. Come to hk lah…wonton or ngau lam (braised feef) noodles, up to you to order.

    Miss Ting,
You have just reminded me to check if the $6K is credited into my account. Should have gotten mine…can’t wait till Apr. Call me when you are back.

  36. Hi Geraldine

You asked me “does your ‘Hope can overcome my laziness and selfishness’ also incorrect?”

Terence said “the best thing about Geraldine is she is full of nonsense.”, but your above question is sure not nonsense. Otherwise, may be I was already popular a few years back. So I make one more hope as: “Hope I can achieve my hope”. sigh.

You have spent you HK$6,000, no problem. Even our Miss Low has spent hers, also no problem. Do you think my HK$6,000, after deducted the air fares,is enough for the wanton noodles for 3? I think we can still add the ??,??,??? (my favourite) and drinks, also tips (still have to give tips in HK?)

Thanks for you contact number. See you

  37. Hi Ivy

Just finished the comment to Geraldine, then saw yours, I think may be we wrote at the same time, and you hit the “Submit Comment” button a little bit earlier than me.

Of course remember you lah, the time we sing ???, the whole CC gave us a standing ovation. But after that, ??????? liao, haha.

Will see you in May. With Geraldine, we go to enjoy the Wanton noodle in HK style. If the place got the HK style porridge, that will be much better. Miss them very much.

  38. Hi everybody,

My watch has a date of Fri 31.

Yesterday, Geraldine reminded me if I was going to say somethng about her appointment. Well, definitely sure. I was hoping to do so on the 1 Mar, as my calendar would then give me a PING.

From today, Geraldine takes over the role of SHC Club Manager. Although she lives most of the time in Hong Kong, I believe she can do a good job as the Club manager. She can be felt in the Club, and likely most of the time, at around 4am Singapore time.

As Club Manager, Geraldine will focus on making the monthly gatherings successful and eventful, together with the respective EOs. It has always been our culture to let the EO have the final say on how he/she runs the activity. This said, it is subject to the event meeting club rules.

I may have mentioned this before, that Geraldine has a lot of ideas, not always squeaky but more often fun. You have met her during the last monthly gathering, so this should help with understanding her style and concept.

Welcome Geraldine, and we look forward to an exciting year ahead with you in the club, all the way from HK.

    Terence Seah

  39. Hi Geraldine and fellow members,

Geraldine has given us a good start to the year with her role as SHC Club Manager. However, I am sad to say this was a short role, and Geraldine has decided not to continue with this role. I have accepted her decision, and would like to thank her for her creative efforts in making SHC more vibrant.

Meantime, I shall continue to manage this role, until another time.

    Thank you Geraldine.

    Terence Seah

  40. Terence,
I put up a post and it’s still under ‘review’. Perhaps you didn’t notice it?
Thought I’d borrow this post to bring it to your notice.
    Thanks

  41. Hi Geraldine,

Sorry to hear that you have quit as CM too, but just to remind you that you have many friends here in Singapore.

    Cheers
