PRIME magazine, for over 45

The SilverHairsClub is for Singaporeans, over 45.

Some of you may have heard of PRIME in Singapore. This magazine targets men and women, over 45, and covers topics on health, wealth, nutrition and leisure. The magazine promotes issues on active ageing, lifelong learning and intergeneration bonding, and addresses the growing elderly population in Singapore. According to PRIME, Singapore is the second fastest ageing population in Asia after Japan and by 2030, one in five Singaporeans will be 65 or older.

Editor Eleanor Yap, with 16 years experience in publishing, started PRIME this year to educate a very niche market.  A graduate from the US, Eleanor has worked as an editor with Ezyhealth, Home Concepts, World Environment, Retail Asia and Graduate.  As a proponent of giving back to the community, Eleanor was the publications director for Camp Sunshine, a project for children.

There are synergies that can be achieved with some cooperation.  Please pen your ideas here.  If you think you can contribute to this link, please share your thoughts, and we will take this further.

  1. SHC is a cordial, carefree group of folks who meet casually for fellowship, exchanges, to pursue common interests or merely for a cuppa.

PRIME apparently is a publication for, in Spore context, folks most of whom would have lived their prime years.

Frankly, for me, I cant see any synergy other than SHC members browsing thru PRIME in their reading glasses for topics of their interests, contributing articles and perhaps, advertising their products targeted at a somewhat defined readership.

Anyone else can see other forms of potential synergies?

  2. It would be interesting to do a SHC members’ age profile. When you need reading glasses then you’re ripe to read ‘PRIME’. And they already have a long list of well qualified contributors to articles. Not to mention famed advisors (SAGE, Tsao, NUS etc) Methink the price of $5-00 each is a bit steep considering much similar information could easily come from our Authorities & web sources FOC. yeah, no synergy at all.. SHC helps plan to live the life one wants & enlarges circle of frienships when you hit magic figure of 60 (aka President Bush!)

  3. Hi

I have not read PRIME and I have not attended any SHC events, but my understanding of SHC from the posts makes me agree with Tim that SHC is a carefree group of folks who meet for fellowship, etc…

An online site is more current than a magazine. And it is free! And we get to contribute to it…

One synergy I see is PRIME featuring SHC and our events and thus help promote SHC. But this can be achieved through other means and without needing a special partnership with PRIME…

    My two cents worth…
