  1. HI Conrad

Just got in contact with the operator on bicycle rental and was advise to inform them 4 days in advance as their bicycles are limited. He can reserve it but a deposit of 40% is needed.

If we have 20 pax – they are able to reduce it to SGD 6/- and hour, min is 2 hrs.

If you need his contact please let me know – hopefully I can be of some help!

    Cheers!
    Lai Fong

  2. Hello Lai Fong,
Thanks for the info. Let’s wait to see how many will turn up for this event. If there are more than 20, will certainly tap on your contact. Otherwise, participants can just turn up at 8.45 am to choose their bikes. Early participants get the best bikes :-)

    Cheers
    Conrad

  3. Hi Conrad,

This is my first request to join your cycling activities.

Can I bring my own foldable bicycle?

If this is acceptable to you, please register me.

    Regards,

    johnny pow

  4. Hi Conrad,

My foldable bike is collecting dust at home, so glad I can used it again. I will be cycling from Kovan (my kampong) to Punggol Park to meet you all for this cycling trip. Thank you guys for organising!

    Ah Nee

  5. Hi Douglas, Dolly, John Howe, Andrew Yeung, Janie & Yatsing, I’ve included you guys in the list. Especially Janie & Yatsing – you live so nearby, must come ok?

Carly, Audrey, Peggy, Anna Seet, Eileen Ang, Eileen Thean, Joyce, Daniel Ong, Charles Wee – you all coming?

  6. No mistake – the scenery is indeed beautiful, and charming. The Serangoon River PCN and Punggol Promenade is in my backyard, and is my playground. I am sure I will enjoy riding with all you cycling enthusiasts.

Truly, Lily, I have been waiting for this ride; I have been wanting to sign up; and I am willing to awake early on Sat morning for this special occasion. But I have to attend a work-related course on that day. Perhaps next time? Have fun, y’all! :-)

  7. Hi Lily

Thanks to include me for the event. Sorry to say that I have to give it a miss. As in 8:45 I’ll still dreaming. So only can meet you all in my dream liao, haha, what a lazy guy!

  8. Dear Lily

I hear you calling but the date is the 1st of the lunar 4th month so I have to go to do prayers in the morning. And by the time I am done, it will be 11am. A pity I have to miss this one.

You all enjoy your ride :)

    Cheers
    Carly

  9. Hi Audrey #11 and Chi Qui #12,

Welcome to this event!!! I am having difficulty updating the post. Consider yourself registered. Chi Qui – yes, you can use your own bike.

    Cheers

  10. Hi Conrad,

Can register me for this event? Need the exercise. But 1 caveat, if I am late, start off without me. I might still be kooning.

    Cheers

  11. Hi EO Conrad & Co-EO Ivan
Sorry for the late response. Name list have been updated.

    Yatsing, Andrew, Carly & Joyce
Noted you can’t make it this time. Hope to see you next month.

A warm welcome to newbies, Johnny Pow and Ang Chi Qui.

    Wow Eileen Ang
    – nice to see you again. Your presence will help boost our confidence.

    Charles Chua
I fully agree with Ah Nee – you got plenty of time to koon lor. This only once a month.

Thanks also, to Conrad and Ivan who volunteer to lead us this month. Our chief, Douglas can relax a bit liao.

See you all this Saturday @ 8.45am. :)

Mega – you coming to join us right?

  12. So sorry to hear that, Anna. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

    Conrad
We have 1 more option for lunch. There’s a Wild Oats Cafe/Restaurant @ Punggol Park (opposite Blk.401 coffee shop).

  13. Hi EOs, Conrad and Ivan,

Thanks for organising this ride. I thoroughly enjoyed it and must add that I was impresssed with how hard Ivan and Conrad worked to keep the group together, calling all the time, waiting at the rest breaks etc.

For those cyclists who missed the ride, let me say there are many car parks around, some free, a good starting point for breakfast, lunch or dinner, quite near the MRT station, Hougang MRT, many routes to suit different cyclists, from 15km to 30 km plus more if you wish to cycle to Pasir Ris, Tampines, Loyang, Changi Vill., and even Bedok and the ECP.

Better still, these routes are deserted, compared to the ECP on Sat/Sun. Also 2 bicycle kiosks, same company, means you can cycle and leave the bike at the other kiosk. Only $6/hr.

This was my first time there and am very happy to know about it. Very nice boardwalks, plenty of green and water.

So it looks like 2012 will be quite active for cyclists given route we know. Dolly said she is thinking of introducing PCNs in Bkt Panjang.

  14. Hi Conrad,

Nice meeting you and thanks for making this morning ride possible. Also to Ivan who lead us in the journey despite the rain. I enjoy the feeling of having my face being wash automatically while riding the bicycle. I have a good sleep after cycling. Just woke up. :)

Cheers to all you happy SHCians.

  15. Dear Conrad & Ivan and kakies,

Thanks for introducing this route for cycling. The ride this morning was really fun and scenic. Love the feeling of cycling under showers together with regular and new kakies. Will definitely go back again including night time to see the lights on shore n off shore as advised by Conrad. Cheers!

    Regards,
    Janie

  16. Hi all,
Thank you for turning up in spite of the rain (and lightnings; thunders as well).
    Have enjoyed myself too!
As highlighted by Charles, there are many choices of routes.
And yes, it is a great start for the monthly cycling event at a NEW location.
Till the next ride, do keep your bikes well-oiled!
    :))

  17. Dear Conrad & Ivan and the cycling buddy…..

This is the 2nd time; I cycled in the windy cold rain, like the last time at Pulau Ubin. hahaha….quite enjoyable and FUN!

Just want to say thank you to Conrad for organising and accompanying me on the ride home, Ivan for the great effort in contacting the lost sheep (alone lah…don’t know which direction to go) and the fun companies of the rest of the cycling buddy.

On the way home, Conrad had suggested a night cycling outing covering the whole stretch of Punggol PCN. Wow…never try before, I am looking forward to it, he said maybe on the month of June.

    Cheers! Ah Nee

  20. Hi All,

Just for advance info; the next route for the MAY’s Monthly Cycling Event would be:

Punggol Park Bike Kiosk to Sungei Serangoon PC to Punggol Promenade Riverside Walk to Punggol Waterway to end of Punggol Waterway Park and then we do a back-track or loop-back to the starting point.

    See route map here:
    http://www.nparks.gov.sg/cms/images/park_images/ParkConnectors/NERL_map.pdf

    Total distance: about 19 – 20 KM.

This route will be quite easy since there is no clay-pebbled track ….. scenary is great too!!

  21. Hi Ivan @ #32,

Good idea. Very well-planned too. Longer by about 4 kms but easier because no laterite track. Effort wise is the same. I think some ladies will be stretched but comfortably so.

I think you should put a date to this, and the time too. How about the evening? I can bring some cakes to eat at Ponggol Point, overlooking Pasir Gudang. I noticed there is no food and drinks till the start point at Blk 401. Last trip I forgot my water bottle and only had a drink when we had lunch.

    How about a new post?

  22. Hi Ivan…

I am ON lah, when is it? will it be our next May monthly cycling. Must remind my son to adjust the bicyle seat higher, thank you for pointing it out to me.

Norlinda, my old timer cycling buddy. Where have you gone MIA? Apa macham….you miss all the FUN!

    Ah Nee

  23. Hi Charles & Ah Nee & All Interested,

    Just checked my calendar.

Am only available on 05May (Vesak Day) but don’t know if we can doing the cycling in the morning or in the evening due have to go pay tribute to the “Teacher” and the “Enlighten One”. Will only know by this Sunday 29April2012.

For 12May, both morning and late afternoon sessions are out for me ….

So is 19May since we have our monthly walk in the afternoon/evening … (morning session have prior appt too! sigh sigh).

May be someone else can “Kee Chui” to EO this May’s Monthly Cycling Event ….. :))

  24. Hi Ivan,

There’s no monthly walk on the 19th. In fact I think the cycling is on the 3rd Sat of the month which is also the 19th.

So can the cycling EOs pls fix a date, say May 19th? I have to confess 19th is ideal for me as some will be away on the following weekend.

My suggestion is either morning or evening, ie 9am or 3pm, meet at Blk 401, walk to bike kiosk. I can bring some cakes for the midway break at Ponggol Pt. Everybody bring their own water, and back by lunch time.

So Ivan, Douglas, Lily and Dolly, can decide?

  25. Hi Charles,

You are correct, Mthly Walk is on 12May (sigh..will missed it!). Got the dates crossed..hahahaha..must be getting senile oredi..even with calendar in front of me..OMG!!

OK, we fix it on 19May, 3:30pm, meet at Blk 401, walk to Bike Kiosk.

    Hi Lily/Dolly,

Can you ladies please have to honor and post/put-up this event accordingly? THANKS!!

I will try to do the recce (on a weekday if time permits) for the stretch of route from the end part of Ponggol Waterway Park to Ponggol PC to Ponggol Point Walk and see if we should add this part of the route or not for this coming cycling event.

    Ivan

  26. Hi, Mr Lee King Seng, I had sent some of photos cycling along Punggol riverside on 21/04/2012 to your email address. have you received?
