Travel with “Frills”

Hi to all Members

Some members like to backpack, travel with little or no frills. I, on the other hand, like to travel with reasonably priced frills such as 3* hotels, organized transportation, pickup services to airports. I am wondering if there are like-minded members who luv museums, palaces, castles etc and would like to make specialized single-country trips to Germany, Italy and Spain. If U do please post here. Kind Regards

  1. I do like to see such sights too. However, I like to see National Parks and Canyonland, Volcanoes and submarine trips in Hawaii first. In short anyone interested in going there in June July 2007?

  2. Hi Amara,

Any clear plan, time frame, and budget ? Yes any of the above countries is ok, or even all 3 in one go, if it is possible by Euro Train ? Also, seems it is not free and easy , so how and who arranges transportations etc.? My time frame Jan – May 2007.

  3. Hi Amara

I thought a trip to Europe to visit the sites of the WWII battlefields will be interesting such as Normandy, Warsaw, Munich, Auschitz (?) and of course, Berlin. I am wondering whether any tour agency is organising such trips.

  4. Hi Amara, Kathy and Kia Chew,

I think we have some thing common. How about two weeks Europe in October via Euro Rail. End of peak season, getting cold and not so crowded. With Euro Rail, we get to travel 1st class. I think it will be fun. A group of 4 or 8 will be fun.

    I am very keen.

  5. Would be interested to visit Grand Canyon, switzerland, natural sceneries – greenery, lakes, oceans, etc… Won’t mind going on Euro rail. Enjoyed much on British rail many years ago, able to stay longer if scenery are nicer.

  6. I am interested in natural sceneries, scenic European country side…, Enjoy very much during my last cosmos tour, and would like to try the Euro rail. Keep me in the loop.

  7. It is getting to be more interesting, knowing there are some who have done the Euro tour by train. Guess let us start planning and i guess this Pot Luck day will be a good time to listen and share experiences, ideas and plans. Cheers

  8. Hi Kathy, Guest, Kia Chew, Terence, Lynn and Pauline

Thank Q for responding and Great to see that all of U luv to travel!!

However, it is obvious that most of U are thinking of nature rather than man-made wonders. Having toured both W and E Europe, I wish to concentrate on man-made attractions like castles, palaces and museums for the next 3 years. In addition, I am thinking of single-country visit per trip, for example intensive Germany in 2007, all-Spain in 2008 and the grand dame, Italy in 2009. Hence travel by Euro rail is not required. Each trip will last around 2 weeks.

Regarding WWII sites, except for Normandy, there are many commercial tours to Berlin, Auschwitz, Warsaw, Prague & Budapest(which I strongly recommend) and Munich. Globus Gateway Travels (First class), Insight UK and the local Singapore agencies provide packages to these places.

    Good Cheer to all again.

  9. Hi Amara,

Thanks , hope i will not be left out, somewhere along Europe, but dont think it will be a big problem, then can see more of other things too.

Interested to see anything famous building, paintings, etc even in one country, so brief us on your plans and others can join in to offer their views and recommendations.

About trip with frills, D Ang will be planning a trip(4D3N,Thurs to Sun) to Krabi(Thailand), which will be on a short call notice whenever there are good tickets available. She has done a research (more than i did) and is impressed with this Trang Eco-village, its activities and also this beautiful seaside town. So get your bags on standby, have your contact numbers available and check the website to be convinced.

Happy New 2007 Year to all and cheers to SHC and all its members for it was really great to know all of you.

I have discovered that “You get many times more what you give “, and would like to thank everyone for sharing.

  10. Pending on whether the dates will clash with my business trip in Oct, I am interested in the euro-rail trip. Will continue to check this forum for further info. Thanks.

  11. Like Euro-rail style. However, need to know the details itinerary such as place, no of days & when to reserve leave application. My Long leave available from Oct onwards, other months unable to join. I will come back to this forum to keep myself informed. So, kindly post any updates here. Thanks

  12. “INDIA TRIP”

I can organise a short trip of about 14 to 21 days in South & Central India. It comprises Hyderabad, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Varanasi, Lucknow, Agra, Gwalior, Hyderabad. Itinerary can be adjusted to suit a group’s needs and preferences.

The travel will be mostly by AC Trains for long distance and some time non-AC Public Buses & Private Cars for short distances. A ‘IndiaRail’ pass for 14 days cost US$185, while for 21 days, it is US$200.0. The fare for Public Buses are not much, but a Private Car Hire for four persons is about US$ 120.00 a day.

Stay will be in my Farm House in Hydrabad and outside Hyderabad in a 3 star hotel. The average cost of lodging & boarding per day will be in the region of US$60-80.00.

A local guide will be provided at a fee of travel cost plus US$20.0 a day.

  13. Hi Amara,

Am interested to know if you would include scenic places as well in your travel plan to Spain. Are you going on a conducted tour?

Now, I’m hoping to find a female room mate wanting to see cherry blossoms in Hokkaido in April or early May.
