Since I am asking every SilverHairsClub member to write about themselves, I shall start first.
I am 51, with a 30 years background in newspapers. Family is in Bangkok. Most Mon to Fri, I travel within the AsiaPacific. Sat and Sun, I am in Bangkok. Try SMS me, if you are around. That’s why you can hardly find me here in Singapore. Sorry, if you call me, and I do not pick up your call. SMS/email excellent way to catch me.
Sports, I love swimming, lousy at golf, but am crazy enough to want to play, likes sighteeing, loves cheap and low cost travel. I have not had enough of Thailand, and the rest of Asia.
Food – I love eating, but hates sugar in my diet. Whisky is my game, with ice and soda. Beer, if I am thirsty. So, I am game for a drink, any time. You know my contact.
My greatest concern is loneliness when I retire. If I can walk, I don’t want to see only 4 walls. I am a strong supporter of work and play, till I die. 50% of each, at least.
My dream for SilverHairsClub is to reach a membership of 10,000 by end 2008. I love seeing SilverHairs being independent, meet regularly, be fluent in internet, pick up regular exercise eg walking, swimming, and cycling. I enjoy participating in business discussions, especially small businesses.
And, if you write to me, on this Post, I shall always respond you, in an individual capacity, not as SilverHairsClub founder.

I tried posting my profile since 5.05pm yesterday but it doesn’t work. I tried “draft” then “saved” – didn’t work. I tried “private” then “saved” – didn’t work either. How ah ???

Please try again. Simply save the Post, and we should be able to moderate it and get it up within a few hours. Sometimes, it is faster, if I am on the computer.
And, if you keep posting, moderation will not be necessary, as the system knows the Posts are within guideliness.
I fully understand Lily’s problem as I experienced the same some time ago. Saving as “Draft” seems misleading cos we tend to think that this action serves to store the posting for future amendment before appearing in the blog. May I suggest that, instead of saving as draft, can the system save it as “Awaiting Moderation”? I am no expert in IT but just a suggestion coming from an enduser viewpoint. Thanks.

Personally, I think it is not smart of the designer to use ‘save as draft’.
Bear with it for a few Post. After that, the word ‘PUBLISH’ will appear, and no moderation is required. In other words, you are accepted as within the rules.
If I can get it changed, ok. But doubt I can do it anytime soon.

Since every one’s profile changes with time, such as age, children, marital and job status, etc. Member’s profile should have “edit” to facilitate future editing by the particular member.

I shall use this Post to share my experiences with other members. You too can do the same, once a week or once a month.
This weekend, 30 June 207, I am driving to Jomthien, Pattaya and Angsila. Both on the coastline. Ronald Will saw my profile, and we are going out together this wkend. Two others, but don’t know their names. Program includes cheap fresh small oysters available on the coastline, a massage each (guess it will be foot massage) at $5/hr and having a tan at Jomthien beach. It’s fun.

Here’s a clarification. I understand some SilverHairs have tried calling me on my mobile; and that I have very often not answered the calls. This is because I am usually travelling overseas; and prefer not to take the call.
However, I do respond to emails quickly; and hope you will use email, if you need to get hold of me. I would also respond quicker still, if you make a comment on this SHC forum.
If you like a reply via SMS, please do add your name at the end of the SMS.

In fact, the dialing tones of tele providers outside of spore are usually different so when you hear a dudu instead of the familiar tretre, you can assume that Terence is outstation and so hang up lor (as the cost for overseas call to some destinations can be very expensive to the one receiving the call).
If not urgent, can sit outside his hougang home to wait………he wont be wearing his donald duck underpants after meetings so will hv to come back for a change………

I guess you were referring to me. But, pease dont call me President. I prefer Terence. On retirement, I view everybody have their own movies, with different starts and endings. Over time, I hope you will find some close friends from SHC, who can share your interests and spend retirement time together. Let me know when you have found this person.
