  1. wow.. EO revealed! Majority got it right…though smoke was everywhere. ;)
Thanks for the recce the site and detailed posting…interesting activities for everyone! :D I’ll register for it now, will firm up at a nearer date.

  2. “If it rains, the pot-luck will be cancelled as there is no shelter or shed close by”.

Year end brings in the NE monsoon which brings in a lot more rain, usually.

So if the rain comes when the bulk of the food has arrived, it’s gonna pose some headache there.

So will there be an alternative venue……..such as a Sampan Riser offering his sampan ? Or at least some pans to cover the food till the rain has passed ?

  3. Dennis Wee,
Well, well, well. The secret is out. Glad you decided to make it simpler, no games and no hassle over the food. ;-)

I could help with the registration.

    Cheers.

  4. Dennis,
Regarding the “clearing up of the litter”, being Singaporeans, I think everyone should be responsible for their own litter, don’t you think?
Why not provide some big garbage bags for that?

  5. Mary,

Thanks 4 d help. Yes, u will b our registrar 4 dat day..sometimes, we nid 2 remind ourselves abt littering. Will get the garbage bags, dat’s 4 sure. As 4 the games , will do on ad-hoc.

    Tim,

U r rite. If it rains and the food r there, Sampan Riser reli dunno wat 2 do? Probably nid 2 get a few big plastic sheets 2 cover the food. Haf 2 recce the place again..chump huh!!

  6. Dennis W, I’ll be free 2morow b4 the first epl match so if you want another to recce with you, pls let me know and then we can each hop on a horse and ride out the sunset in cowboy hats & suede shoes as you play the good, I play the bad & we both go look for the ugly………

  7. Hi Dennis

If hubby and I not travelling, we will stay around and help out in whatever needs to be done.We go early and help Mary with the registration, etc… Thanks, Dennis.

    Have a good day, Janet.

  8. Hi Dennis,

You don’t have to get your arm twisted for doing a good deed! Rest assured there will be lot of helpers willing to come forward.

What happen when it rain? Need to bring along tents, big or small just in case.

  9. Dennis(har), so with you, we complete the cast but not sure whether it’s fair that you cannot be the “good” (only bcos you come in late) so you’ll hv to haggle with Dennis (W) on that. (He shd reply after he has finished twisting his arm back to shape).

For me, I like to be “bad” and my horse “ugly”.

  10. Hi Dennis,

Count me in for the Pot Luck @ Pasir Ris.

Me ENJOYS and LOVES eating but NEVER grow FAT from childhood till now.

    Regards,
    Steven

  11. Hi Dennis
I will be there. Sorry for being kaypoh. Maybe we could have a list of attendees – their roles and what food/drinks etc each one is bringing so that we do not have 10 pots of cha bi hoon???

    Thanks for being the EO.

  12. Tim & Dennis Har, will be hopping on a horse 2moro in the morning 2 recce the country beach (park), like 2 join me?

Dan, Keeping my fingers cross..hoping no rain.

    Steven, thks 4 d support

Caroline, yes i will make a list of attendees and potluck items they intend 2 bring….u r not being kaypoh but being helpful…thks

  13. Tim Liu, nice to be in, better late then missing the GREAT show. Hope wonders will come alone the way…

Dennis(w), this sat/sun I will be occupy by SMART Investment & International Pty Expo at Suntex Singapore. May be the next horse ride I can join in.

  14. Hey Dennis,
I will certainly be there for your potluck….rain or shine. After travelling across the island of Singapore, I hope you have a contigency plan to make the trip worthwhile for us Westerners.
Good luck. Let me know if there is any way I can help……….Jie

  15. Hey Jie,
if it rains, there’s always mahjong or scrabble right? Haha.
Or we could all adjourn to Downtown East for icecream? ;-)
Or perhaps all crowd into Dennis’ place? Hehehe. Then Dennis could teach us to bake something? Huh Dennis?

  16. Hey Jie,
Another good idea if it rains. Let’s all go “dancing in the rain” and make it a BIG Splash! We’ll definitely make it to the news.
“Crazy oldies getting groovy and wet!”.
We’ll give Terence more silver hairs, hahaha.

  17. All SHC people,
    Ok, ok, enough silly stuff.
Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that the heavens will be kind to us and give DENNIS all the support he needs.

So guys and gals, roll up, roll up and sign on for the PASIR RIS POTLUCK PICNIC.

There’s so much to do, eat, cycle, skate, dance (line and social), riding…..

If you get bored with all that, there is always the kiddies park at the other end. See if you silverhairs can challenge the kiddies on the “spiderwebs”, “flying fox”, climbs and slides, hehe.

  18. OK, I’ll bring spare clothes , just in case we have an opportunity to play in the rain…..it would be fun to be able to act silly.

Dennis, I’ll be bringing rendang with french loaf for the potluck…i.e. if my maid comes back. Otherwise maybe just bottled water.

Btw, does anybody know the shortcut to making a comment without having to scroll down 200 comments before coming to the comments box. I am slowly getting a ‘ trigger finger ‘ doing this.

    Here i am piggy backing…..
Grace, enjoyed last nights gathering immensely. any time you are organising another one….I am on the list.

  19. Hi Jie,

Thks for the support and help. I will think of something to do if the weather is not in our favour

    Mary,

Ya, why not? dancing/walking in the rain, getting soaked and wet (Gene Kelly’s song).Thks for helping out. Will consider your suggestion.

  20. Hi Dennis,

Pl count me in. Tentatively, can stew mushroom do for e potluck?

Jie, use your cursor and drag the indicator all the way down. Not sure if this is the best way but def beats having to scroll down comment by comment.

  21. Thanks Ann,
But that’s what I have been doing. You still have to press with your index finger to the end. I was hoping for something like…..clicking on somewhere at the top of posting, ‘ end of comments ‘ for example without scrolling down. Maybe I am just wishing on a star……Ha ha.

  22. Jie.
You serious? Play in the rain? Hahaha. Anyway, good idea to bring a change of clothing. We might decide to adjourn elsewhere later right?

  23. Dennis, You are welcome.
I have no idea what I’ll be bringing. Most probably dessert.
We should also have some mats or plastic sheets that can double as mats and cover if it rains.

  24. Hi Dennis,

Long time no see, hear and talk.Been MIA for a while and will make it for the Pot Luck gathering.Tentatively will try and bring mee saim.Have to think of a way transport the gravy.

    cheers

  25. Hi Annto,

    Thks and look 4ward 2 c u on 10 Nov
Haf taken note of ur potluck.

    Hi Daniel,,

Ya man, u r rite..no hear, no talk, no see..hey wat happen? Anyway nice 2 hear frm u man..it’s been a long time..thks 4 the support. will c u at the potluck. Hey, y dont u put the gravy in a air-tight container? jus a suggestion.

  26. Hi Terence

I have a problem. I cannot find the EDIT feature on my post. Can u release it? i need to do the list of attendees and the potluck items. I thot d EDIT button shld be nxt to the subject heading but no, it is not there. It is also not in the post #1192
    nxt to VIEW. Please help.
    Thks

    Cheers
    Dennis

  27. Hi Dennis Wee,

I will be attending the Potluck @ Pasir Ris Park. As I don’t cook, I will be bringing fruits, either bananas or grapes.

    Tks, Bernie

  28. Hi Dennis,
Count me in.In case it rains maybe i should bring 2 big golf umbrellas .That should do the trick ??thanks 4 organising the event.should b fun exploring the east.Never been to this place.
    regards
    grace wong

  29. Hi Bernie & Grace Wong

Thks 4 the support. Looking 4ward 2 c u gals on dat day. Btw, Grace, wat will u bring 4 potluck besides the big umbrellas?

    Cheers, Dennis

  30. Halo Dennis (W), read yr #16 (Fri 10.30 pm) reply only now (Mon 9.50 am).

As you know, I seldom access my computer on wkends, shagged to bits after 5 solid work-days of almost 18 hours each, including humming lullabies………..

Believe you’d hv found a shady (hehe)location & if so, suggest you lay a tombstone there early so that nobody will dare go near it and so become exclusive to us.

Now that we hv Daniel (K) with us making it 4, we cant act out “the good, the bad & the ugly”……..so how abt the “journey to the west”?

Heeee, going by our gifted looks/physiques, I can see clearly the roles all the 4 of us will get to play……..

Can start auditions for the spider-jing, fox-jing and the beiba-jing?

  31. Hi Tim,

Ya man, we shld lay a tombstone 2 chope the place and we 4 of us guarding the place as Dar..(ai ya 4got his name) and the 3 Muskeeteers on horseback (hire from the gallop stable) with our dashing costumes..hahaha

  32. Dennis W, how come yr “Dar” is a “he” when my Dar and other guys’ Dar are “she”? You’re ahead on the liberalisation law huh?

    What 4 muskeeteeers?

I was referring to Tong Sum Chon, sumokong, sar zang & terbak-kwai….I’ll be the sumo and you all the 3 Daniels will d\battle it out as to who shd be the cute roly-poly.

  33. Hi Dennis

I am coming…to be a menace!…because you didn’t say I was right in guessing you were the Event Organiser and I had to come up with one guess after another. Hee hee…

    Joy, the menace

  34. Hi Dennis,

I wld like to join this event but I can’t cook…don know wat 2 buy…so can I contribute disposal plates/cups and cutlery? n is lighter 4 me 2 carry on MRT/bus…

    Pls advise…thanks!

    J.C.

  35. Hi Tim,

Sori, never heard abt the 4 guys u mentioned, probably still in the daze after losing the match betw Liverpool and Spurs. Bet on Spurs 2 win..payout was good so took the gamble..

  36. “No problem in bringing the disposable plates, cups, forks, spoons etc,etc..”

True, the problem is in the waste disposal which can be a handful of lugging & a legful of walking.

Dennis, even if you havent read Wu Chern Ern’s Si Eu Ji, you must hv watched enough of plays and replays of that playful terbak-kawi who was actually a very handsome field marshall b4 he was punished and reduced to a pig.

Alright, since you’re leading this big event, you shall hv the privilege to be the revered monk………..but 1 drawback tho…..he abstains from alcohol & sax, unlike terbak-kwai who sees all takes all.

Me went thru a bloodbath last wkend…….a total washed white wash-out, never had it that bad……but life goes on, and back to the drawing board with this international wkend to recoup.

  37. Tim, Dan & DennisHar,

I assume you guys r comin’ 4 the potluck, rite? Anyway, i m putting you guys’ names in my list.

    Thanks & Cheers
    Dennis

  38. Dennis,

Dan (H) and I alternate to jaga town so if he’s going o-o-t on 10 Nov 07 then I’ll hv to stay put in town………….whatever, my thots will certainly go to you, esp if thunderstorm hits pasir ris park or the salted fish someone contributes for the potluck begins to swim in the park-flood.

So pls register the registrable first………

  39. Hi Dennis,

I have to give it (Pot Luck at Pasir Ris) a miss though I very much wanted to join you guys and gals on this day. But whatever it is, I want to wish all of you a wonderful and enjoyable Pot Lucking. Sob sob….with so many happening in line, am missing all the fun….Cycling, Roller Blading, Horse Riding, swimming, chatting & makaning……. :)

    Ah Nee

  40. Went recce at the park again…saw d 2 pavilions..1 is nearby and the other is abt 100 metres away. Thks 2 MaryC. The potluck will be on, rain or shine. Sori gals & guys.. my eyes must have seen something else… hehehe. As 4 the pony ride, the cost is $10.00 per round (abt 5-10 mins within their compound) Very expensive lah!!

MaryC, wat sharp eyes u have 2 spot the pavilions? Thanks a lot.

So come on everybody, join in the fun and have a 1-derful time…Ur participation will make the event a joyous one.

    Cheers
    Dennis

  41. Dennis,
Trust me to look out for pavilions. You know I don’t like the sun and am always on the lookout for shade.
Good that you went to look again.
Yes the pony rides are expensive, but I doubt if any of the silverhairs would be interested. The rides are more for kids, hehe.
Anyway, there are lots of other things to do besides eating. Things like cycling, singing, dancing, line and social, roller blading for the brave ones and if you are resourceful enough, some games.

If there is a thunderstorm, we can all adjourn to Downtown East like I suggested before, or perhaps Janet Heng would be kind enough to host a game of mahjong and or Scrabble with my Scrabble set? ;-)
    Have a great time organising.

  42. Dennis,
There’s a need to go “chope” the pavilions earlier as it’s a weekend. How you do it is the question.
Perhaps we could go earlier and put some things there, but will need someone to “jaga” the things.
So you gotta crack your head about that. ;-)

  43. Hi Dennis

You guys have fun and enjoy.
I have to give this a miss this round again.
So sad…. I can only view the pictures later after your event.

  44. Dennis, you steady, man to hv replied to me like this “Tim, thank u” when you had so much more mouth-H2O for others.

Well, for that tankcute I’ll endure the dank nite for you & hold a candlelight vigil into the morning till you come, pot-lugging, ducks following. This shd ensure that the pavilion wont be replaced with a kiddo umbrella since we cant put a tombstone there to chope if nobody wants to die……

Then I’ll go jaga the town.

Like that, gou heng dai le qua? (Canto, nothing t do with ah qua)

  45. Susan, sori 2 hear u cant make it…probly another time

Joy, it’s done b4 ur father sees it. If not, my head will b gone. Hehe

Tim, wat more can i say..u hav said everything.

  46. Dennis, you can say “2 legs good, no legs better” or recite the pledge & so reaffirm yr allegiance to Temasek Holdings.

    For me, it’s a case of GotT-NoS…….

  47. Hey Tim.
Good of you to “hold a candlelight vigil into the morning till….” You serious? In that case, Dennis should be very grateful to you. So would I as I will have some shade from the sun.
I shall thank you in advance, i.e. if you are serious about doing it.

  48. Dennis,

Dar…’s name is D’Artagnan, pronounced “Dartaneon”. For a moment I thought you were addressing someone with an endearing term, hehe. Dar.. Dar… Darleeeng…..hehehe.

  49. “Hold a candlelight vigil into the morning till..”

Tim, are u serious? If u r, i will be vry grateful and u know wat? I will accompany u..wat says u?

Clara, glad u can join us. We sure can b “Cowboys” and “Cowgals” for the day, riding on the ponies. Hopefully, Ron Wie can come, he will bring his guitar and we can have a sing-a-long session.

    Janet, noted wif thks

Mary, yes that’s the name..D’Artagnan. As for “chopeing” the Pavilions, I will b there early.

  50. Serious? Or Sinuous? Haha, what do you 2 think?

Ok, if wifey allows you out for the nite without tailing you, then we can hv a bon-fire at the pavilion with xiao li, xiao ling & 881s danzing round & pampering us like sheikhs………

(Do pls make sure you come dressed not in tees & shorts but in full suit lest the chio bu mistake you as a park-sleeping homeless lou chek).

Seriously, if you’re game, I can accompany you there early to lift legs, wet the ground to mark our territory.

Then I’ll return to town when I see the tip of the 7……..

  51. Hi Tim, no problem wif wifey..can dress as u describe but will be hot as the hours go by and then have to un…
I will be there early and i need help to “lift legs, wet the ground to mark our territory”

Yes Mary, we will be there early.

  52. Wow, Mary (C), you got a very kind heart leh…….if you cared for the dew that will wet me and the dank nite that might freeze me, maybe hor, you can bring me some double-boiled oyster soup and leave the door to yr looe half-closed, heeeeeeeee, my urgent call comes very early in the morning…………

Seriously (not sinously hor), nice of you to be so thoughtful for us. Like that, how not to die for you??

  53. Dennis, scroll up a little and you’ll see my prompting Mary to use the best of her already good heart for us…….and she might just do that little bit more for you…like ll, wg……….

  54. Haha, Tim. Not really lah. Got ulterior motive lah. I dislike the sun and want the shade, hehe.

Like I said earlier, no need to camp overnight. Just be there earlier, 6am good enough.

Both you and Dennis can keep each other company until the rest come in at 2.30pm. ;-)

Oh, btw, there is also a public toilet nearby, right Dennis? Or did you miss that too?

  55. Heee, all I dared pray for was for Mary to ll & wg for us but never knew she went beyond all these……..Dennis, you lucky man, she actually went looking for & found a toilet for you……..will she find 1 for me, dont mind a unisex one….?

Well, if I keep Dennis company for too long, he’ll sure become Denise…….dainty & sexy.

  56. hi Dennis,

already decided earlier to join your party but was figuring out what to bring. the few items I thought about had already been choped. will come with “oo tow koh”. Dennis pls update ASAP, otherwise more hair will disappear fm my head!

    hi Jie,

yr comments #28, just hit the “end” button and you’re there, in case you still haven’t found the solution.

    cheers…johnhowe

  57. Dear John,
Thank you……its exactly what I was looking for. It is always so simple if you know how. Now my trigger finger can be on the mend. I owe you a cuppa…….Jie

  58. Dennis, Denise???

Oh dear. This is what one gets for trying to be nice. Was only trying to help.
Not going to be nice any more or some people might misconstrue, intentionally or not. >8-(

Will still help with the registration and the dessert.

  59. Dennis becomes Denise………isnt this a matter for celebration………..I mean, folks hv to go to Bangkok, spend $$ to try make this happen and here he was, sitting with me, chatting overnite and then……..no operation, surgery………

“This is what one gets for trying to be nice. Was only trying to help”.

Now, I too will hv to subscribe to this truism.

Btw, I must acknowledge openly & tell all that you’re really very very nice (sui bo, I dunno, nvr see you b4 leh…..you tell me?)

Frankly, it’s easy to get folks to find me a penthouse, a suite in a 6-star hotel but to go find a toilet?

Die die also must date you liao………….ai mai?

  60. Tim, please dont change my sex. I m happy as what i m now. As 4 public toilet, Mary is refering 2 u and not me when u said “leave the door to yr looe half-closed, heeeeeeeee, my urgent call comes very early in the morning…………” Anyway the public toilet is nxt 2 the further pavilion.

Mary, i did not miss the public toilet and thanks 4 d help wif the registration and the dessert.

John Howe, thks 4 d support and i promise u i will chope 4 u ur potluck.. so
    no more falling hair(s)

    Steven Chan, noted wif thks

  61. Yes Dennis, I too am happy that no knife or law will ever change the condition you’re altho name changing is common……..I changed mine while still in practice, when a client told me so, and the next day, I made a new gf……….

Well, public toilet is for the public. What I want is a private toilet, for only the 2 of us……..you’re not in the 2 hor.

Jokes aside, pls let me know if you need help altho I wont be part of the pot-lug.

  62. Hi Dennis, and everyone,

Last year, I brought some fried grasshoppers, silkworms and bettles to the potluck. And, this year, I don’t think I would tempt you again with these delicacies.

How about something sweet? From Thailand. I should be back from Bangkok, just in time for the potluck. So, good time for you to have a say, before I start selecting what I like.

I have 3 thai desserts receipe books. Go ahead.

    Terence

  63. Dear Organisers,

Due to unforeseen circumstances, with much regret, need to withdraw my presence in this potluck event.

Appreciate your effort in organising such fun event and thanks a million.

    My most humble apology…J.C.

  64. Hi J.C. sori 2 hear u r unable 2 join us. prbly nxt time

Terence, will appreciate if u can get a thai dessert like a “ang koo kueh” but mould into colourful fruit shapes. Sori, dont know the Thai name..thks

  65. Hi Terence.

Sweet of you to offer to bring back some desserts. Thai dessert has always been a great favourite of mine and I once went to a Thai buffet but ended up eating only the desserts. They had such a variety that I forgot about all the other dishes. Greedy, hehe.

Once, long ago, when I was more adventurous, I bought a cookbook entitled, “The Best of Thailand” which I never got to use. Too lazy lah, hehe.

In this book they had a recipe for
“Sangkaya Fak Thong”, which I discovered was similar to the pumpkin custard dessert we have here. Instead of pumpkin, they used something called “Acorn squash”.
Appreciate if you can get hold of some with Acorn squash, although I don’t know if it’s better tasting or worse than pumpkin.

The “ang koo kuey” that Dennis mentioned in his comment is also very yummy. May I have some too?
The only problem is whether they will stay fresh out of the fridge.

If it can’t be done, thank you anyway for offering.
Hope you are still having a great time. :-)

  66. Hi Mary

They will not stay fresh in warm or hot weather. Even if u keep them in the fridge for 2 days, the product will be slimy and begin to taste sour.

  67. Hi Dennis,

“I don’t lie, but may speak a bit wrong” (bo kong pian wey, kong salah wey), so you said. Actually I sort of like that phrase. It makes one can’t stay angry with another for long.

Seriously, you have my unwavering support! I will TRY to squeeze (like a lemon) some time to come to your potluck party. As requested, I will just bring myself, MINUS the food. Ooooops! gonna to duck…. the pots and pans are spearheading my direction.

Look forward to seeing WENDY too.

    Always, Gingko

  68. Hi Terence,

So kind of you to ask and think of us. How are some honey-coated Thai banana chips and hot spicy cuttlefish shreds?

Enjoy yourself and see you soon!

  69. Robert and Kristy,
It’ll be nice to see you both again. Sugar rolls eh? I better think fast about what dessert I want to bring. I was actually thinking along that line, haha.
So when is the next concert lined up?
    Cheers

  70. the desserts should be in by the morning; and we can have them in the afternoon.

I think I shall bring for just a few people, based on the request. C u everybody.

    Terence

  71. Boon Liang, I think attendeees will hit more than 40 so with each, say, eating at least 500 gm of pork, the total weight of pork to carry will exceed 20kg which is quite heavy.

    So……………..?

That’s right, go buy a piglet, and all you need to carry is a 500 gm cleaver. The piglet can walk with you there and upon reaching the pavilion, you & Dennis can start chop chop chop the pig to make pork chop………very fresh pork chop.

  72. Wud luv 2 come. Still not ambulant due 2 Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). Yesterday made emergency consultation @ SGH A&E as there’s bleeding in my right eye due to warfarin. May B another time.

  73. Hi Tim,
Contingency plan has been looked into but with other contributors, I’m sure, should be sufficient for all present. I’m taking this as an intro…if response is good, we shall head over to the purvis st for more…ha ha! Anycase Dennis too bz to run after piglets…probably gone fishing.

    Hei Benson,
take care and get well soon! see ya soon,ok?

  74. BoonLiang, Agree. With the A380 under yr command, there’s no need for you to walk any piglet there when you can fly the whole animal farm from Bulan island over.

Dennis wont find the time to fish when he has to act out the full episode of “Bad, Good & Ugly” all by himself unless you re-write the script such that he gets to do water gymnastics with mermaids, with our very own 85 year old merlion serving tarts to the audience.

  75. Hi everybody!

I’m a new member.A late forty lady working on Monday – Friday and hoping to join you all in the activities…..
I’ll try to participate in the “Potluck” event.I’ll surely bring something if I can go but how much shall I bring?

    Cheers!
    Bira

  76. Hi Dennis,

I am currently out of town and will be home in early Nov. I would like to participate in your pot-luck activity. Pls register my name and I shall probably bring some fruits if I am unable to cook something for the event.

Thank you for organising this program. I am sure you will have a lot of support.

    See ya!

    Regards,June Chin

  77. Bring fruits………….ummmmm…………..?

Fruits too have got weight and so I cant advise to walk the fruits there as I had advised Boon Liang to walk his piglets……..

    So how?

    Elementary.

Go grow a fruit tree there now….papayas, bananas grow very fast and shd be ready for a bumper harvest in early November 2007 for the pot luck, with balance to export.

  78. Hi June Chin,

It was nice 2 hear frm u and welcome 2 the pot luck and thanks 4 the encouragement.

June Lee & Bira, welcome 2 the pot luck. U will have a great time.

    Cheers Dennis

  79. Hi! Dennis,

Kindly include my name in this pot luck event as quite near my house. As this will be my first time attending silverhairclub’s event, just let me know any thing I can help except for cooking, sorry I can’t really cook.

    hihi..
    Judy

  80. As Dennis is the “Good” in our “GD, Bad & Ugly”, quite sure he wont mond the Bad tim helps him to answer.

You dont hv to cook (dare we eat what you cook if you hv said you cant cook?).

Like I said earlier, you can start planting those easy to grow fruit trees there in time for an early Nov harvest

Dennis & I love papayas; June, Pat, Mary, Chris…….drool at bananas.

I can provide the spade & changkol, and help water the seedlings.

  81. For those who have made their request for Thai desserts, there is a 90% chance, your wishes will be fulfilled.

For Tim, I shall bring the cow.

    Terence

  82. Tim: Terence wants u to slaughter the cow and cut into beef steaks, grilled or bbq them and we all can enjoy the steaks..hehe, hehe!!

Terence: thks , i hope i will get the thai dessert dat i asked 4.

    Cheers
    Dennis

  83. Luv outdr activ n a food lover, shall bring butter cakes. Tis my 1st event joing SHC, may i join in 4 a nice wknd lookg 4rd 2 c u all. Hve fun cheerio!

  84. Hi Terence,

Please remember to bring the aromic & authentic Thai coffee and Thai dessert ( mango or durian topping ) for me at the Pot Luck Gathering in Pasir Ris Park.

Millions Thanks and really appreciate your kind and generous spirit.

    Bernie

  85. Hi Dennis,

My own surname is Chia, whereas Vincent is Yong. One problem is I am not familiar with Pasir Ris. Help needed. If I take the MRT down, how do I walk over. Out of MRT, if I turn left, it’s Whitesand & if I turn right, there is a road leading to Pasir Ris Beach. So which route should I take.

    Thank you.

  86. Dennis, no problem, I can slaughter the cow and anythg else but first of all, Terence has to bring me her ah Keow bcos without that special drink from her (or her replacement), I cant do anythg meaningful………

Btw, seems like no one is bringing h20…………..or maybe someone already has olivia’s portable desalination device?

  87. Hi Terence,

Pls include me in for the Pasir Ris Pot-Luck. I’ll be bringing Gado Gado (Mix veg with Peanut sauce). Pls also include my husband, Fred Tan whom I believed I’ve signed him up as an SHC member. Pls check and revert if I’ve not done so. Thanks, Lisa

  88. Hi Celia Wong : U r welcome 2 the pot luck gathering.

Hi Nora Chia : Sori abt the surnames. I dunno how ur surname has been changed.
Anyway, when u come out frm the control room of PR Stn, pls turn right. There is a covered walkway, walk 2 the end of it and u will come 2 a traffic junction. Across the road, u will c a road named Pasir Ris Green and also a “Gallop Stable” banner. Walk straight in and u will come 2 a car park C and also a bicycles/roller-blades rental kiosk. Follow the track 2wards the sea n u will reach ur destination. C u there.

Hi Tim : Yes, u r rite. No one is bringing the H2O..how abt u doing it? Thks, hor..btw, congrats 4 winning the bowling crown..will ask Remy Ong 2 get some tips frm u..hehehe!!

Hi Lisa Ong & Fred Tan : Thks 4 joining us, pot luck, noted.

    Cheers, Dennis

  89. Hi Rosalind & Dorothy,

It is wonderful to see that you are both joining us in SHC. I am sure you are going to have a very enjoyable time with us.

Please encourage the others to join in too. My apologies that Kristy and I were unable to join all of you in your BBQ. We really missed the occasion and fellowship.

    Regards,
    Robert

  90. Hi Terence,

Both Rosalind and Dorothy are my very close friends. Dorothy should be in the members’ register by now as she was able to post her comment on 22.10.07 as shown below. Am I correct in saying this Terence? Please check it out. Thanks.

    Hi

I found this Activity – am I too late to join as a supporter and not a participants. I will pay into the account if I am able to join the fun.

    Await your response. Thanks dorothy

  91. Dear Rosalind & Dorothy,

May I refer both of you to the free concert at NUS on 31.10.07 at 8 pm. Hope both of you would be able to join us. You could join us also for the free Self-Development talk at Bugis junction on 25.10.07 at 6 pm. We could then go over across the road to have Peranakan buffet dinner at Chillie Padi. It’s only about $11.

Please refer to my postings. You could click “Latest Postings” and “Latest Comments” to search for them or you could go to the “Category” column on the right in the home page and click “concerts” and “walks” if Dorothy is interested to join us in the monthly or weekly walks.

I hope you will participate actively and enjoy the “buffet” of activities in SHC.

    Regards,
    Robert

  92. Hi Dennis,
Sorry i have to back out from this pot luck affair as something urgent has cropped up.A family one.Its a shame as i was looking forward to it.I was thinking of cooking ‘perut hitam’.But never mind there will be another time, wouldn’t there?
    grace wong

  93. Hahaha, next time Dennis wd rather lug pot than do a pot luck.

Btw, why my name is up there (S/n 16) huh? Dan will be out of town so I hv to be in town.

Anyhow, I’ll be there to help out till I see 7.

  94. Hi Grace Wong : Sori 2 hear u r unable 2 join us in this pot luck. Family comes 1st, we understand..prbly nxt time, thks

Hi Tim : pls refer #50..Yes, Dan is out, u r in, c u there wif the bottled drinks? Thks hor..

    Cheers, Dennis

  95. Hi Grace

I assume you wanted to bring “Pulut Hitam” (Black Glutinous Rice) to the Pot Luck instead of “Perut Hitam” (Black Stomach)??? Hope you dont mind my comments.

Sorry to hear you cant make it cos this is one of my favourite desserts.

Dennis, I am still thinking of what to bring.

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  96. Dennis,
my item is a toss up between home made kueh lapis and chai tow kueh from the apek stall. It depends on how diligent I feel the day before, ok? Worse comes to the worse, I will bring some packets of keropok hehe.

  97. Hi! Dennis,

Not a problem, I will bring along all the disposable forks, spoon & plated, include the tissuess etc rather empty-handed as this will be my first gathering to meet all of you.hihi…

    Cheer!

  98. In bed, you cant sleep so you toss & turn. In yr wake hours (not the hours spent at wakes hor), do you still want to toss? Life is short; spare yrself of miseries.

So easy if you walk the apek chai tow to the pot-luck…….SHCians will get to savourr yr lapis & apek’s kueh.

(Btw, I know the apek : to the chio bu, he goes by the english name “robert carrot”).

  99. Hi Dennis,

From the experience of last Pot Luck, I would recommend that everybody bring along a small bottle of water.

We had a lot of food last time, but almost died of thirst.

    Terence Seah

  100. Yes Terence, that was what I suggested to Dennis yesterday.
Water is heavy, so everyone brings his own depending on his requirements. I know I will need more than one bottle.

  101. hi..I read about the silverhairs club and would like to be a member here to meet some good friends and good company to enjoy times together.
    Pls advise.

  102. Mary, dont worry, i’ll bring ration enough for you and for that I sacrifice a bit……..and will start drinking h2o the nite b4 into the morning and pls bring a curtain to shield me when I unload…………..heeeee.

Jenny, all i know is, if you wanna be another SHCian, do pls register (but pls dont ask me how….i know no)

Ben son, bring camera to pot-luck……..choc camera huh?

  103. The supply is for you so if you want it done in the bushes you’ll hv to wait for me in the bushes……….then curious Dennis will follow then curious Terence will follow then…….hahaha.

(I can see George diving out of the whitehse & heading for the bush already).

  104. Hi Caroline : “ang moh style” carrot cake?? which i have heard so much abt. Probly asking too much huh!! Is it just a suggestion. It’s ur choice.

Hi Mary C : so ur pot luck is a “toss” lapis tow kueh and everybody will get “ma bot” and then how?? We nid John How(e)’s help. hahaha. just a joke. Home-made kueh lapis will be vry nice indeed. Anyway it’s still ur choice.

Hi Judy Lim : thanks 4 bringing the disposable cutlery..phew, 1 headache is gone.

Terence : thanks 4 the suggestion and also Mary C.

Hear, hear, every-1, pls bring ur own drink(s)so nobody will die of thirst. Wow n phew, another headache is solved.

Hi Benson Koh : Hooray! Hooray! we have a photographer at last. Benson, thank u very, very much. C u at the pot luck. Another headache is solved.

Hi Jenny Chong : as wat Tim had said. U nid 2 register wif SHC 1st, then u can join us in our pot luck.

    Cheers, Dennis

  105. Hi Dennis

This will be my 1st event and I would like to attend as I’m living in the east so no problem with location. I’m just not sure which direction from the mrt station. Shanta

  106. Wow Caroline.
Carrot cake!! One of my favourites. Cream cheese icing right? Oh yum! Please bring some and save a piece for me ok? Thank you in advance Caroline. I have not met you but you can be sure your carrot cake will have a fan, hahaha.

  107. Hi Shanta : thanks 4 joining us in the pot luck. As 4 the direction 2 the park, pls refer #30 (Nora Chia). Btw, may i knw wat u r bringing 4 pot luck?

  108. Hi Dennis,

Thought I had better announce that I would be bringing SATAY or SOON KUEY since I see you are not putting my name up. No food, no “Gingko” heh?? Tsk, tsk…

  109. Hi Grace Wong – Such a pity you are not able to come to this event. But, of course, what comes first must come first. I will miss your Pulut Hitam. That’s one of my favourite desserts too.

Hi Caroline – Good to know that we share the same liking for this dessert. After eating Pulut Hitam, I wonder if our “perut” will also become “hitam” hor?

  110. Tim,

Not choc camera la. Made of aluminium die cast body with top anodized deep drawn brass cap and polystyrene hand grip.

It is mainly used for capturing happy moments especially when you are around.

    Cheers
    benson

  111. Hi Jie : Can u assist Mary Chan wif the registration?

Hi Janet Heng & Annie Loh : Can u help 2 coordinate the food?

Hi Clara & Vincent : Thank u very much 4 volunteering 2 help in the sing-a-long session.

    Cheers
    Dennis

  112. Hi Gingko : Sori lah!! wasn’t sure u r cmg or not? No worries, there will always b a place 4 u. Hey i like the sentence “I wonder if our “perut” will also become “hitam” hor?” Dat’s a good 1. My “perut” becomes “ga tal (ticklish)” after reading it..hehehe!!

    Cheers, Dennis

  113. Hi Dennis /Yew kwong/ all,

Now at Changi Aiport T2 free internet access terminal.

Will be MIA from 25th Oct to 4th Nov on package grp tours with family to Zhujiagor and other parts of China very anxious and excited to see Panda Bears at Chengdu.

    1) Dennis, I am looking 4 ward to your
    Pot LUCKY Party.

    2) Yew Kwong, I am looking 4 ward to our EXCITING ups and dows THRILLING tracks Pulau Ubin Cycling ride of the year.

Others, pls cyclists and Johnny walkers theme up with Robert and Ron Lai.

Join us and you will NEVER regret!

  114. Hi Gingko, I love to eat all the bubur like pulut hitam and pulut terigu, mung beans soup, tau suan, cheng tng etc but I am not so lucky like you. You can eat and eat and still dont put on weight. I have fat genes so I must be careful not to eat too much so once in a while ok lah. But too bad not going to have any at Pot Luck Party :(

Hi Dennis W – Sorry lah cannot bring carrot cake because of the cream cheese topping. Got aircon then can lah. Maybe another time another place?

Yes Mary C – its the cream cheese topping type. Explained to Dennis already why cannot bring to open air pot luck party. The topping will turn bad in the heat. Also another time another place?

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  115. Caroline,
ya hor. Forgot about that. Unless you have a cooler box with ice packs. Even then the cream will be soft and won’t be nice. Never mind. Another time another place.

  116. Son of Benson, you siao huh?

It’s a pot-luck and you wanna bring an aluminium die cast body there for what?

I can quite safely say that at our age, none has a complete set of original teeth, and it’s already a problem eating pai kuat wong (meaty ribs). So you really need to anodize not the brass cap but the kelapa under yr cap.

Heee, but of cos, you’ll ask my butty Ben yr papa what’s appropriate for a potluck. I am sure being the generous man he is, he’ll ask you to carry yr mama’s fridge to Pasir Ris pavilion for everyone’s feasting. Not the aluminium cast fridge but the food inside hor.

  117. Hi Rosalind and Dorothy,

Your name amendments are noted. Please use your registered name and email, when participating in activities. Thank you.

    Terence Seah

  118. Ay no problema Dennis as long as you provide the list of attendees. Mary and I will make short work of it……..let me know if there is anything else I can do…..Jie

  119. Hi Dennis

Since my first time and not knowing anybody, I ‘ll brings packets of potato chips. How many will be enough do you think? Looking forward to meeting everyone:)

  120. Hi Caroline : It’s okay, no worries. Probly some other time. Hey, good news 4 u, u said “I love to eat all the bubur like pulut hitam and pulut terigu, mung beans soup, tau suan, cheng tng etc” n “too bad not going to have any at Pot Luck Party” Dennis Har n Venika will bring Red Beans n Green beans dessert respectively so ur wishes have been fulfilled.

Hi Jie : thanks 4 the help

Hi Venika : Thanks 4 coming..we have been waiting.. hehehe!! Pot Luck, noted

    Hi Shanta : As many as u can..just joking. It’s up 2 u.

  121. Hi Dennis
Thanks for being so accommodating and looking out for our comments and giving us an answer. You are a nice guy :D

So I will still get my favourite desserts. Thats great! So do you still want me to bring desserts when there are so many varieties already?

Otherwsie I will think of something which has not already been “choped”

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  122. Tim,

Sure la, what about my daddy’s mama aluminium peroxide fridge with lots of RO/DI water inside for the pot luck party?

Wow! Congrats, champion bowler for 2007. What about a game of beach/lawn bowling on that day?

    Cheers

  123. I hv thanked yr dad for yr mama’s generosity but do pls send my regards to her as well, and pls dont steal any food kept in there till, ok? Good old boy……….

Well, in bowling, even if I use 2 hands, I still wont be anywhere near yr regularly heading the ball to down the pins for 12 consecutive strikes………you’re in a very different league.

    We can play beach football?

  124. Hi Annie Loh : thks 4 helping out..pot luck, noted.

Hi Caroline : It’s my pleasure also to kaypoh a bit lah.. thanks 4 the compliment..well, i love dessert, i dont knw abt others but pls dont do it 4 my sake. Nice knowing u, tek care.

    Cheers, Dennis

  125. Hi Dennis,

I’ m coming to join the fun , but cracking my brain what food to bring. “Luo Mee Fan” Glutinous rice, is it ok?

    Kristin Leong

  126. Ok, on.

Ben reading, it’s yr son who throws the challenge so if uncle tim’s goli breaks his goli and in the result you hv no baby to carry, it’s not my fault huh.

  127. Hi Dennis

I am coming, hope still not too late. I will bring 2 small bottles of Extra Guinness Stout which I hv brought back from KL by SQ.

    Yew Kwong & Andrew
Are you coming to join in the beer session? I hv purposely re-deliver the 2 bottles of Extra Stout from “Bali” to Pasir Ris Park. Pls don’t disappoint me huh?

    So, set hor.

    Linda

  128. Linda

I like to join the event very much, but I’m not sure whether I’m in Singapore at that moment, so, I’ve to give it a miss (I’ve already informed Dennis personally). In this case, I also have to miss your 2 bottles of Extra Stout (one is for me right?).

But can you just e-mail one bottle to me (I’ll pay for the charge of mail), so I can enjoy it wherever I am and also don’t let Yew Kwong take my share, ha ha.

    Enjoy the event.

  129. Hey Dennis, originally I was only planning to come to be a menace. But last night, Benson said he would be coming and he would be bringing water, so I better bring something too.

So can you insert his name at 13a as Benson Koh. I am at 14 and Tim is at 15. Benson is bringing water. I am bringing Benson, who is bringing water. And Tim is bringing Joy, who is bringing Benson, who is bringing water. Phew!

  130. Joy,
if that’s the sequence of events, it appears that neither you nor Benson will be at the Potluck as I believe that Tim will not be coming.
And I hope if Benson comes with water, it won’t be with it already in his tummy as offered distastefully by Tim, not that I think Benson is like Tim. He seems a nice guy.
I look forward to seeing you there. Benson too.

  131. Hi Charles : u can ta pow back if u r there.

Hi Linda Chang : It’s never 2 late, so come and join the fun. 2 bots of stout? wow..i no share, ai yah? Yes, Andrew had informed me but i dunno abt Yew Kwong. R u cmg, YK? Linda will put aside ur share of a bot of stout, if u cme.

Hi Joy : It shall b done as requested.

Hi Mary : Dey will come.

  132. Wow!..this thread is really hot & spicy!…so much makanan (food)..can finish or not?..must ta pow if extra..don waste food ok hehe!..

I cant go..but cudnt help being kepo lah…cos when i read abt the long lists of food…drooling oredi :)

    ok …better tido now..tom must work..oh no!

  133. Hi Dennis

Of course i hv included your share in the 2 bottles. We will pour & sip sip with chicken nudgets. Sounds good, right?

    Andrew
I will buy 1 more bottle off the selves. But this time, not from KL & the taste might be different hor.

    Yew Kwong
    Can you resist not coming?

    Better come lah
    Linda

  134. Dennis (W) knows me best when he said “Dey will come”. Yes, I’ll be there briefly, doing a cameo, principally to help DW if he needs my help………bringing joy (as Joy too rightly noted) and nothing else, except my pack of fags.

Heeee, the drinks I had in mind distasteful meh?

The supermart now priced the no-frills brand at abt $30 for a small tin…….up by a whopping 200% over less than 2 years. And that’s made from cows.

Surely, what I want should taste sweeter…….Me wrong, that a cow is better than ah keow?

  135. Hi caroline,ginko n dennis,
thanks for pointing out my mistake.u r right it ought 2b pulot n not perut.dont have malay dictionary lah..tch ..tch..Funny ha ha..black stomach..wah didnt know u guys like this desert so much perhaps next time i can make it for u guys.. ok?enjoy yrselves
    grace wong

  136. If Tim is there, I will be there with mineral water on my back not tummy la.

Attn to all participants, please come in shorts or bermudas. I would like to organise some beach games. Can or not, EO(Dennis)?.

    Regards,
    Benson

  137. Son, I’ll be there for you, hopefully get to see alot of 8s & 881s but dont like to see 7 so will leave when that happens.

You dont live very far from the pavilion so I can help you connect a hose from yr toilet cistern to the pot-luck site and so relieve you fr carrying mineral bottles on yr back.

Dont thank me, remember, yr dad Ben is my friend.

  138. Hi Linda Chang : I noe u will include me in sharing the stout..was joking lah..but cannot drink 2 much, wait mabot, how? Instead of being a Event Organiser, become a Event Orang-mabot..heheheh!!!

Hi Benson : Dat will b gr8t..no nid 2 ask..it will be fun..hey how abt beach volleyball? I will definitely join u in the beach games, man..

Hi Mary : Oh yes, oh yes, u r absolutely right. It will b fun.

Hi Grace Wong : No worries lass.

Hi Tim : Of course i noe u well enuf 2 say “Dey will come”

  139. Hi Terence,

My friend Lee Seok Cheng and I will like to join the Pot Luck. Seok Cheng would be bringing roast chicken and I will bring Peach Cake

  140. Hi Terence,

Just to inform you that my sis-in-law has just registered to be a member and would also like to join in the Pot Luck in Pasir Ris. She’ll be bringing some freshly fried keropok that day. She will submit her details once you’ve issued her a password.

    Thanks & regards
    Lisa

  141. My apologies Terence,

Forgot to mention my sis-in-law’s name. Her name is Jackie Tan. (Earlier part of sentence, deleted by Administrator.) Just in case you need these info to qualify her to be a member. Thanks, Lisa

  142. To my mind, personal details are communicated direct and only to the person requiring the info, and only if one is totally satisfied that it’s fair and safe to provide the info.

It’s somewhat risky to put it up in an open mail……………..

  143. Hi Tim : “Beach games so must come in beach wear esp to play volleyball”, wow, dat’s interesting!! I noe wat u mean. U r right, personal details shld not be put in an open mail….

Hi Lisa Ong : While waiting 4 Terence’s reply, will put ur sis-in-law’s name in the attendees’ list anyway.

Hi Christina C n Lee Seok Cheng : Noted wif thanks

    Cheers, Dennis

  144. helo Mr Dennis Wee…
Its ‘mabok’ not ‘mabot’…Malay lesson no.1…salah ejaan (wrong spelling)
    sori..hhhmmmm
But..in this forum..many knows the words to use..thats clever/interesting,but always spelt wrongly..im always happy to ‘teach’ boleh :)

  145. Hi Norlinda : sori 4 the spelling mistake. It’s nice of u 2 point out. Dat’s how i can learn if u r willing 2 teach. Manyat terima kaseh.

Hi Annto : sori 2 hear, u r unable 2 join us. prbly nxt tym.

    Cheers, Dennis

  146. Hi Terence,

I thot I’d registered for Jackie Tan already? I did it on line for her where I go to the Login to register and type in her Username and password and it prompted me to say that a password will be issued etc….etc… Pls advise if I’m not doing it the right way. Is there a new way of registration now e.g. downloading the forms and faxing it etc? Pls advise. Thanks, Lisa

  147. Hello Dennis,

Pls count me in for the pot luck at Pasir Ris Park. I hv not decided what to bring with me on that day but will definitely bring something along.

    Regards, Peng Peng

  148. Maria : u hav taken out “n” and put a “e” in my name and overnight, i become a “cha boh” oh dear, oh dear..my good fren is laughing now. Anyway, no worries, thanks 4 joining us..pot luck, noted..c u on 10 Nov

Peng Peng : thks 4 the support, c u at the pot luck.

    Mary : typo error lah!!

    Tim : hahaha!!

  149. Altho its only 10am, I cld vote this the best joke of the day.

Dennis, if only more men cld become “cha bohs” by only changing out an “n” for a “e” in their names…….. (lean time ahead for some surgeons).

  150. I think the rains have stop. And, unless each of us is able to store water over long periods of time, it would be valuable if each of us bring some water.

Hmm, I shall bring only 500 ml. cannot share.

    Terence

  151. Huh, so you only look after yourself ? So unlike me.

My production line runs 24/7. Its normal capacity is 750 ml every 2 hours but will up the capacity to 1,000 ml for the pot-luck.

It’s sweeter than newater. Tho it’s rare I usually dont blare (abt it) but bcos I care, I’ll share if you dare but if the mere thot of it already raises hair then like Terence, you take yr own water there.

    Fair?

  152. Dear DennisW, comments #1 first on register,,, er……me bring peach cake???

Found #201, that’s another Christina Chan.

Anyway, I have a wedding invitation to attend in KL on the same day…sorry. Perhaps the mixed up came in good stead :D

U guys, good feasting and have great fun!

  153. Ah hah! The cat is out of the bag. Never mind if it is Timcat, Tomcat or Tabby cat.

The real event organiser is Denise and she has been masquerading as Dennis.

  154. Hi Christina Chan : sori 4 d mixed up and also sori dat u r unable 2 join us. Njoy urself in KL.

Hi Joy : The EO is a HE man and not a she man.

Hi Annto : I meant only in name, lah!!

  155. Hi Dennis Wee – Veronique Lee will be coming to the potluck party. Please register her. Pasir Ris Park is big, no need to reserve a place for her, but just keep tab of the headcount. Mangrove swamps are still aplenty, buayas may be basking around. AWAS! AWAS!

Kindly note that Veronique, Boon Liang and I will now join forces to bring piggy chops for the party.

Hi Dennis Har – You can stop worrying about lamby or cowy satays, ours is 100% piggy chops… Relax and enjoy!

  156. Hey Gingko, so are you still bringing Soon Kuey or just Miss Piggy and her two piglets. Me? Just coming to be a menace.

Nah, I will have something specially flown in from Indonesia, from Gunung Batok to be precise.

Tim, last year you coaxed an unsuspecting duck to waddle with you from Johnson, but because I was late, by the time I reached East Cost, all I got were the webbed feet. How about a Christmas turkey this year?

  157. Hi Gingko : okay, will register Veronique Lee. Ai yah, y no satay? Anyway, we will have piggy chops satay, rite? Hahaha!! I promise no buayas will ambush u.

Hi Joy : “something specially flown in from Indonesia, from Gunung Batok to be precise”. I hope not another menace? hehehe!!

    Cheers, Dennis

  158. Hi Caroline : sorry 2 hear u r sick, read from Robert Quek’s post. Take care and get well soon. I will see u at the pot luck as u said “will be ready to eat the sugar rolls and the yummy stuffs at Pot Luck.” Thank u for the strong determination to be at the pot luck

    Cheers, Dennis

  159. Dennis,

Have u arranged for some one to stand in to take photo for this occasion?

I will try my best to turn up later so that we can have few rounds of team building games.

    benson

  160. Tim and all going to the potluck picnic.

The potluck picnic will be at the beach where CARPARK C is. It’s the stretch of the beach between the 2 rivers, Sungei Api Api and the Sungei Tampines.

There is the AMPHITHEATRE (open air theatre with concrete seats in semicircles) and a MAZE garden. Look for the pavilion closer to the amphitheatre.

If you take BUS #403, get off at the FIRST bus stop after ELIAS ROAD, when the bus turns left into PASIR RIS ROAD. Walk diagonally across carpark D towards the beach and go over the BRIDGE and you are there.

If you are walking from PASIR RIS DRIVE 3 or from the PASIR RIS MRT STATION, head into PASIR RIS GREEN to CARPARK C and straight to the beach.

If you are driving, you have a choice of either carparks C or D. The latter is nearer to the picnic site.

I wish I knew how to upload a map, but those who have the street directory, check up MAP 52 and look for “PASIR RIS PARK”. It’s not difficult to find.

    Happy Hunting! :-)

  161. Hey Jane Yeo.
Why don’t I see your name on the potluck list? Come and join us leh. I go to your Makan trail and you don’t come to our potluck :-(

  162. Hey Lawrence of Arabia.

Bring your camel to the picnic and perhaps some can have a change from the pony rides. Or have you made your camel into steaks already? Haha.
I’m sure you can help inject some fun into the picnic, like you did your makan trail.

  163. Hi I am Catherine Soo, a newbie, would like to join in the potluck this Sat, hope it’s not too late to register. I have not been to Pasir Ris Park before, so incase I miss the group, could I have a contact to call please. Could the kind soul sms me @ 96754567. I will bring some sandwiches as I will be taking public transport, coming from River Valley road. Thank you.

  164. Hi All,

If you have failed to hitch a ride in John Howe’s car, you can do so in ours. We can take in three more. The pick-up point is outside CPF Building at Junction 8, Bishan. Please reserve your place by sms.

  165. Hi Benson : will talk to Terence.

Hi Mary C : thks 4 the help

Hi Catherine Soo : u r most welcome 2 join us. I will sms my cell fone nbr 2 u.

Hi Robert : thks 4 the help

    Cheers, Dennis

  166. Hi Joy….whnever I log in, I would love to read your comments…most times they make me laugh…u hve a knack of saying things in an unusual way!!!

  167. Robert, always the Gallant In Shiny Armour :)

You are very kind. I remember you gave me a ride home with the car full of “tompangs” even though it was not on the way. Great to know people like you and Kristy :D

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  168. Hi Mary
#238 refers. Sorie, have not been in the website lately. just saw your kind invitation to the potluck. Yes wanted to join but unfortunately has appointment made on that day before the potluck date was fixed. Yes I know you are very warm and accommodating which makes one feel very comfy and at home. There maybe more to come. Will definitely join if time permits.
    Enjoy yourself and take care.
    Jane

  169. Joy, you jumped out from your hiding place suddenly and surprised me again. Ok, for your sake I’ll do some reshuffling. You can come and join the other 2 ladies in the back seat. The front seats are definitely full. Sitting on the handbrake will be too risky, I think! This means everyone will rest the food packages on the laps. Hope this won’t result in the food being overcooked.

This arrangement should spare you the agony (or pleasure?) of being squeezed in the boot with your TV repairman. No point spending time there also lah because my in-car CCTV also covers the boot and when we see what’s going on in there, we might end up in Batam!

Okie, Joy, on a more serious note, if you’re joining us, pls email me your cell number! I don’t need the TV repairman’s.

Robert Quek: thanks for your very nice gesture in helping out with the ride.

    Cheers and cya!

  170. Hi Caroline,

Fortunately, I am not a knight as you have labelled me otherwise my “white horse” would not be able to carry so many of you. You are most welcomed to grace my car with your presence. The pleasure is mine.

The missing “knight” has fallen from his horse. It is he, not you, who is suffering from Vertigo – ha, ha.

    Robert

  171. Hi
I am sorry I will not be able to atend the pot-luck as I have this strange headache for a few days .so am seeing the doctor today.
My sister Dorothy will not be attending too since I am not going.
    Apologies.
    Enjoy yourselves.

  172. Thanks Robert. You are a funny guy too.
My daughter is not using my car so I will prob drive to Pot Luck. But she always changes her mind so at most, I will take the train to Pasir Ris and take 403.

Dennis, I will either make Steamed Tapioca with Coconut Cream Topping (Thai Dessert) OR Almond Jelly.

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  173. Hi Dennis & Tim,

Dennis, I would like to register for pot luck. Will fried noodles do? My calf muscles are recovering so will be able to make it. Look forward to meeting you.

Tim, where are you? You might as well do me another favour. Fancy being my crutches?

    Lina

  174. Hi Mary Chan, I see that you are the Registrar…I am still unable to confirm if I will be able to come as it is subject to some pending outcome that is still pending…ha hah. If I can make it, I will bring a crate of water…Cheers…

    Victor

  175. Hi Rosalind Koh: sorry 2 hear u r unable 2 come due 2 ur strange headache.Pls take care and get well soon.

Hi Caroline Gee: noted wif thanks

Hi Lina Ng: nice 2 hear u r joining us. Fried noodles, it will be.

Hi Tim: u better be strong 4 Lina Ng..hehehe!!

Hi Steven Chan: no worries mate. Btw, did u recvd my sms(joke)?

    Cheers, Dennis

  176. Hi Dennis,

Thanks for your SMS re Pizza FREE Delivery and Salads Undress.Btw,you could sent it thru emails to a wider audience to enjoy these jokes lah!

    Humourous indeed.

    See ya soon.
You LUCKY rain early morning at 4am and it will be COOLING there in the afternoon.

  177. Hi Steven: I told Daniel Kang 10 mins ago dat “SOMEBODY up there likes me”. Hopefully the weather stays dis way so we will have a cool afternoon. Yes, i will probly email more jokes instead of sms-es

  178. 1215 hours saturday 101107 and i am still working hard, figuring out where the money bin is for the nite …….. will do a cameo in abt an hour’s time and so can be yr cutches only for that long………cya……………

  179. Huh. Showered and in the comfort of my bedroom. Was stand up comic for the day so now very tired. Going Zzzzzz land soon. But before I do, I must congratulate Dennis for an event well organised. Loads of food and can eat and da bao too. Too bad Charles that you were not around to do that.

Also thanks to Clara for leading the sing a long session.

Thanks to John H and Vincent for giving us the music accompaniment.

Thanks also to Mary C for registering us and all the others who made this a wonderful Saturday pig out and fun nite out.
So happy to have made many new friends. Silly Benson sure made us all wet wet wet. Silly is a form of endearment so pls dont get angry hor.

    Have a great Sunday.

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  180. Dennis,

You have given us an event to remember. The participation was spontaneous, the program was hillarious, and the food was well co-ordinated.

I must say there is no doubt we appreciate your effort and hard work. And, to Benson and Clara, we are clearly seeing your skills with games and songs.

The photos will be out on Monday.

    Terence

  181. Hi Dennis and all,

Thank you all for a wonderful afternoon together. We were all blessed by such perfect weather. Congratulations to Dennis for hosting a very well-planned and well-run Pot-Luck gathering.

Kristy and I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, the great abundance of food and most of all the cordial relationship. We are glad we were able to join in the fun and great fellowship.

    Robert & Kristy

  183. Hi Tim,

Sorry I took ages to get to the picnic area that by the time I got there you have already done your vanishing act. Thanks anyway.

Is you money bin quite full now?

  184. It was a day of great fellowship, fun and food. As we were going off, I confessed (hee hee, otherwise cannot sleep at night) to Caroline that I was the notti one who crept up and stole away her precious latest design Louis Vuitton water bag that she had been kiap kiaping between her thighs, which later got wet wet for the wrong reasons.

Thanks to Dennis, not the menace, for organising this event.

  185. Hi Dennis and all,

Thank you all for that great afternoon and an event well organized.

Thanks again Dennis for that ride on your bicycle or it would have taken me ages to walk the vast expanse of that endless park. Did not know you could do the balancing act so well?

  186. Good morning DennisW and all the lovely people who turned up at the POTLUCK PICNIC. :-)

It was a beautiful day indeed and a really enjoyable one. I haven’t had a picnic like this since I was a young lady, singing campfire songs! The spread of food seemed endless.

The event refused to end at 7pm as we adjourned to the Summer Breeze for drinks. Initially, it was only Jie and I who were thinking of chilling out but the circle grew wider and wider until there were about 20 to 30 of us! It was great. I left earlier but wonder if the event is still on this morning?? Perhaps there are some who slept over at the beach??? ;-)

Now, don’t you agree that Pasir Ris Beach is indeed a beautiful and serene place? We should do this again, right Dennis? Hahaha. ;-)

  187. Lina Ng,
the only thing missing from your bicycle “tompang” must have been the song, “Bicycle built for two” Hahaha. Poor DennisW must be nursing sore leg muscles this morning. I saw him “tompanging” Tim Liu!! What a heavy load that must have been. Hehe.

  188. Tim,
Thank you for bringing me that bottle of mineral water. I checked to see if the seal was on and yes it was. And thanks too for the can of coke that I pinched. It was nice of you to keep your word, but you missed quite a bit of fun and camaraderie, leaving so early.

  189. Thanks Dennis,

For being EO of a very successful Pot Luck, very well organised, fun filled and lots of food. Your aides did a fantastic job. The above comments said it all.
The impromptu gathering at Summer Breeze is now being adjourned to the Esplanade Concert Hall. Be there by 2.30pm., whoever gets there first….could you please get into the queue. Maybe, Veroni-que would like to do the honors.

    See you all there……………Jie

  190. Blessed with a fine weather …. good turnouts, good food, fun activities, great company of friends..indeed an enjoyable saturday afternoon.. Also looking forward to more “Summer Breezes” to come by ..Thanks everybody :)

  191. Mary, me came back to office just to reply to you…….you very the lakku hor?

Of cos the seal was intact……..heee, how else you wanna it be if as its manufacturer, I dont seal the bottle properly………….heee, wd you drink?

Tasty, right? Feel of a touch of zen, yeah?

    DennisW?

Once you turned yr back, he kicked me out of the horizontal bar and said, you go walk………and I did.

Ok, got to rush off liao…………….enjoy all !

  192. Good afternoon everyone

    Slept like a baby.

Steven – sorry lah. Too late to join you all at the concert today. Just open the page. Maybe next time. Glad you enjoyed my antics.

Janety Heng – I enjoyed talking to you. Very happy to know you better.

Robert & Kristy – I could clearly see Kristy enjoying herself playing those games with us. Brings back memories of our younger days.

Boon Liang – Thanks for putting up with me poking fun at you all the time. But you like right?

Gingko & Veronique – I hope your tummies did not get knotted up with all that laughter.

    Have a nice day.

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  193. Hi Dennis and your Helpers,

Thank you for the well-organised potluck outing. Appreciate all your great efforts. Despite it poured all morning, the beaming sun was smiling ear to ear in the afternoon in our favour. Lots of cheer and laughter. Great relaxing afternoon! Enjoyed myself immensely… the great variety of food, warm fellowship, “watery” games by mad mad Benson Koh and the sing-a-along session. I wonder what happens to the oranges that were sandwiched between the thighs of our 20 fair ladies. Benson Koh, you had left us so hurriedly. Did you rush those home to make “salty wet” marmalade? Hahaha…

Continuation of chit-chat gathering at Summer Breeze was no less lull. It brought on more laughter. Caroline, Gee you are a character! Hainanese ??? still ringing in my ears. If ever you should start a singing class, I’ll be sure to be No. 1 at the Q.

Welcome new comers Chian(spelling?) and Peter. Chian, good to hear that you find our group for the evening warm, friendly and sociable. Hope to see you around at SHC events often.

Brian Ong, glad to learn you are interested in social dance and had been there. Do come join our social dance class every Thursday and jam sessions as and when. I’ll inform our social dance Event Organiser, Dan Hwang, who is unceasingly on his “scouting” spree.

Daniel Kang & Missy, am waiting anxiously for your good news to come JB masak masak and recce recce. Thank you for the delicious mee siam. Wish I could have more…

Once again, Dennis, thank you very much to you and your helpers for a wonderful Saturday afternoon delight!

P/S. Many wouldn’t have dreamt of doing it, but my kakis and I did! We adjourned for a twinkle night sojourn till 4.30am… My eyelids weigh a ton now.. Kakis are you still in bed???

  194. Hi All Attendees

Thank you very much for your wonderful participation and the lovely food you brought to the pot luck gathering. It’s you that made this event an enjoyable and successful one.
Also would like to thank those who had chipped in to help, one way or another, especially to the following:
    1. Mary Chan and L.H.Jie (on registration)
    2. Janet Heng, Liu, Annie Loh & Nora Chia (on food coordination)
    3. Clara Chay & Vincent Yong (on singalong)
    4. Benson Koh (on games)
    5. Terence Seah (on foto-taking)

We had a beautiful saturday afternoon. We were blessed with a good and fine weather. Like i always say “Somebody up there like us”. The turnout was good. We had about 55 attendees. We had a marvellous feast, followed by interesting games and a beautifully-sung sing-a-long session. We also had a live entertainer who liven up the occasion with her comical and hilarious act. Thank you very much, Caroline. The party ended at about 7pm and some of us adjourned to a nearby cafe outlet, SUMMER BREEZE for another round of drinks, chit-chatting and hilarious jokes. We said SAYONARA at about 11pm.

    Cheers, Dennis

  195. Hi Brian Ong,

It was nice meeting you? You must come to our dance classes and jam sessions ‘cos we are short of guys. Rearrange your flight details OK, so that you will be available on Thursdays and our jamming sessions. No need to work so hard lah!

As for golf, you start the ball rolling and we will give it some consideration.

    Lina

  196. Aiyahlamak Tim.
How you exaggerate. You went back to the office to catch up on your work lah.
Whatever does “lakku” mean? Are you speaking in Cantonese again? If it’s a compliment, which I will take it to mean, thank you. (conceited huh?)
As to the water, it came in very useful at the end of the picnic. My sandals and feet needed a good wash from the mud. Haha, kidding lah.
Anyway, it was nice meeting you. You didn’t appear to be as caustic as you did online, quite the gentleman really. Kind of dual personality?

  197. Hi Lina,

You are really a sporting and strong lady, coming to the Potluck even with crutches. Let us talk more about JB trips and also and the good eating places like Orang Asli, and also Golf, did you say you play this game too, besides badminton and others ?

There is already a golf posting so you should get your name in there too, so we know we to call for the next game. Raymond is asking if anyone wants to play this Saturday and i might join in too, is someone can drive to Malaysia.

    Cheers

  198. Hi Dennis

    It was my pleasure :)

And I am looking forward to another Pot Luck Party. Dennis..Dennis??

Nice of you to own up Robert. For a moment, I was in panic mode when I found my Louis Bitton missing. Alas it was not for long. So no worries. No serious damage done.

  199. Well, Mary, truth be told then.

I went back to the office not to catch up on work but to look for the 2 mice I left over on Wednesday to breed..and it was like playing catching with so many tiny mice on desks, in drawers and a few drinking in the kettle. Wished you were here to take in the sight.

Thanks Lina, but it wasnt lakku I wanted – a typo. “Lakfu” it shd hv been)so the mistake wasnt in a double “k”)………heee, Lina, now, care to explain….or she got it already?

Dual personality? Of cos not. Duet personality? More than an even chance. Duel personality……..and it has to be.

  200. Lina,
thanks for enlightening me, but it seems that wasn’t what Tim meant.
Anyway, it doesn’t matter what he means. He always has a double meaning to everything he says, so I will take it with a gallon of salt, hahaha.

  201. Yep Tim.
Dual personality. No spelling mistake and no pun intended either. You know, nice and civil in person, but probably a bit schizo behind the pc.
Must be a result of chasing mice in the office. You sure they are mice and not a figment of your schizo imagination? Perhaps they were visions of past sins come back to torment you? Whatever, happy mice-ing.

  202. Oh sure I am, Caroline. It was fun with you ard. Am sure ev’ry else love your hilarious act, humourous jokes and spot on singing & hey, it’s free entertainment after all. But I’m the lucky one to get a cuppa of your “Kiap Kiap” water – it’s cool & refreshing to drink.

So a few survived Benson’s “The Wet One” while a couple got it by seating on not so waterproof bath curtain, coincided while singing The Young One.

Dennis & team – Good Job! Looking fwd to the next Pot Luck 2008.

  203. Eweeee!!!!!! Boon Liang. You are so “obscene”. How could you announce to everyone you had my “kiap kiap” water.

Anyway, glad everyone had fun. Had to send my friends home until I forgot I got a date with you, Gingko & Veronique. Anway also, I got kuay bak – would have fallen asleep halfway.

    Warmest Regards
    Caroline Gee

  204. Hi Caroline

Very mutual feelings here.Glad that u seated next to me or else would not have known u.Also thanks to everyone that I met. It’s a very wide circle of friends here and I really enjoyed everyone’s presence.

    Have a good day, Janet.

  205. Hi Brian Ong,

You’d better show your face fast. Post something in the forum. I mentioned the word ‘golf’ and got heaps of e-mails inviting me to play golf.

So I have got you your golf ‘kakis’. You can kill two birds with one stone here – dancing and golf.

Dennis Har, where is your friend Brian? Get him to respond.

  206. Hi Ronald Wie,

No lah! I don’t play golf. Just swim and gym. I was actually helping a new member, Brian Ong get his golf ‘kakis’.

Came with crutches ‘cos my real crutches, Tim, abandoned me. No lah! Came to give Dennis Har some support.

    Lina

  207. Hi Mary & Tim,

Mary, what is ‘lakfu’? I am really baffled by his language change. How many languages does Tim know?

Tim, since the posting for talentime is closed, I have to post my comment here. Have been practicing my talentime song all week. And the title of my song is “Wo lai ai ni”.

Now we don’t know to believe you or not -that you pull your heel at badminton.

    Lina

  208. Hi Terence: Thank u 4 the Thai dessert and the photos. Dey were beautifully taken. I also wld lyt 2 thank you 4 asking me 2 take up the challenge of organising this pot luck event. I haf no regret in doing so.

Hi Lina: It was my pleasure 2 “tombang” u on my “Harley Davidson” Balancing act? no problem at all as u r light (in weight) and u listen 2 instructions.

Hi Mary & Caroline: Me, organising another pot luck? Oh dear, oh dear. I will “pengsan”.

Hi Caroline: Congrats on being appointed a EO 4 the D&D party.

Hi Mary: Oh yes, nursing my sore leg muscles bcoz of a fren called Tim Liu.

Joy: Thank goodness, no bones, damaged, broken or missing..or else i will be sued being a EO.. hehehe. Have a nice rest and look 4ward 2 c u in the nxt event. Take care

    Cheers, Dennis

  209. Thanks Dennis, Clara, Benson and All for a lovely time at the beach. Enjoyed all the potluck food that was there and as usual tend to overeat lah.

Hope everyone enjoyed the games, food, fun and most importantly, friends whom we’ve met before and then – it was an overall enjoyable day.

Daniel, pls being more Mee Siam next time so that everyone can have a taste. Don’t forget to inform me of your next cookery class.

Not forgetting Caroline for livening up the event with your contagious humour and last but not least, thank you Kew for the use of your bike that day.

Looking forward to the next SHC event.
Have a nice day everyone. Regards, Lisa

  210. Hi Joy,
You seem normal when i met you at pot luck except for poor Lina who had to “hop” all the way with crutches on. Very brave indeed despite the pain!

…..I laid my bones on the bed and counted all 206 of them, not one more. I am ok. Thanks for your concern.
What had happened to you ?

    Take good care,
    Steven

  211. Hi Mary & Tim,

Thanks for your concern Mary. My legs are improving everyday.

Tim, don’t want you to use Malay in your postings anymore. Have to take extra Gingko tablets to decifer your comments and takes me ages too. Future postings in Teochew OK.

    Lina

  212. Well, well, whether it was “lakku” or “lakfu”, arent we all in luck with the USD heading south and unabated, inflation rising no more than 5%, oil price is still a steal at under USD100, the stock mart turns topsi turvy, millions unaccounted for in another charity……..even as Boon Liang continues sucking for Caroline’s KKwater still hiding in his teeth.

Dennis, why blame me for ur sore legs?

See, instead of tombanging me on yr bike, you asked me to rehearse some kind of a jig with you called “Gallant Horse” with me as the knight and you, the gallant handsome white horse. So, for a practice run, I rode you to the mrt stn b4 you trot back to impress yr dame. Of cos Daniel K who rode you later was a much heavier knight for yr legs.

    Lina, I came, I saw, I conquered.

Late you came, you bawled, you went bonkers. So not my fauklt that you hadnt any crutches.

Anyhow, can see that you’re deeply contrite for letting my effort go to waste & so wanna do the Wo Lai Ai Ni for me at talentime.

Heee, pls let me consult my astrologer first to see whether I can accept such a big big reward……or is it a beep beep signally a road block in front?

  213. Hi Steven Chan,

You did not see meh? Joy was accidentally pushed and fell flat on the ground at the games. You so tall for what?

Joy too busy working, so I must kaypoh and help her to reply. Then you will not be kept in suspense for so long.

    Lina

  214. Hi Tim,

My crystal ball says ‘Full steam ahead, no need to reconsider’.

Tim, you working or what? Why so much time to do postings? Won’t you get your work and postings all mixed up?

  215. Hahaha, Lina, everybody is making fake crystal balls to sell to Chinese tourists who, when they look into the balls, tell them to buy more vrytal balls.

So, the best has still to be my goli which, if anyone wades thru the bushes will find, tells the truth, nothing but the truth.

And the truth says, steam is bood, sauna better and best, when you see-tim.

At work, it’s really whether one accumulates one’s time in the loo where one accumulates toilet paper, or in his room adding know-how. I dont need a day to read & comment on it. If you can make it a cola, why make it a 100 plus?

  216. If she’s “princess” then I’d hv to be king or emperor, yeah? Heee, is that how you write to a king? Or bcos you nvr wrote to a king b4? Very gingerly hor.

Kiddo is ok. She told me she got a prize again so lou pa will be taking leave this Fri. The first in her standard beat her by 6 marks.

    I asked her, “Happy?”

    “No”.

    “Good gal !”

  217. Tim, Tim. Like father like daughter. Second best is never good enough.

But then again, thats what tough cookies are made of :)

    Warmest Regards

    Caroline Gee

  218. Hi Tim,

Wah! Your standarad is so high. Well, your princess has done remarkably well, I must say. You must congratulate her on my behalf.
Next year, will be quite a jump for her, so don’t expect too much. But I think, smart girl like her should be no problem and especially under your guidance.

Have been thinking all night. I am going to change my talentime song. Don’t know if it is too late. The title of my new song is, ‘Ai cai xin li, kou nan kai’ by Fong Fei Fei. How about that Tim? You must clap for me when I go up on stage.

So how is your heel? Need to borrow my crutches?

Guess we’ll miss your postings on Friday. Did you say you are taking leave to bring your girl to the zoo – collecting toilet paper again? Or are you bringing your lap top along to give us a hard time to decipher your postings.

  219. Well, FFF’s that song is translated from the English “Love you more than I can say” which, in either version, is a lovely song.

Sure, I’ll clap loudly when you’re up there and flap when you come to the part on the kou, be it “kou nan kai” or “kou pangsai”.

My heel still hurts but with mind over matter, the pain is becoming a gain.

Me on leave to see kiddo go up the stage – pleased that she’s keeping her momentum into her 4th year.

So you too hv discovered that the zoo has been losing toilet papers? I don take all the credit; go ask Boon Liang…..he has a huge appetite.

Laptop? If there’s anythg on top of my lap, it has to be a very round butt. Why do you want that for?

  220. Hi Tim,

Where got song with such words, ‘kou pangsai’ Tim. You are really horrible!

Actually, my elder boy got book prize on most years too but being M’sian (S’pore PR) he did not qualify. It is only for S’poreans lah! He is 16 this year,(175cm) tall, slim, fair and good-looking, studying at RI. Want to match make with your princess? Then we can be related. Or you want the 15 year old one? (182cm) studying at Catholic High. Let me know.

So, you will really be away on Friday? Will miss your postings?

  221. Haha, Lina, whichever way you look at a kou – as a hokien calling it “kow” or as a mandarin, “gou”, it’s still a dog.

So any dog will pangsai and a well-trained kou will do it at least 3 times a day together with its owner.

What shame lame excuse the HOD of yr boy’s school gave for swallowing up his deserved prizes !

Yr 17 year old boy is well endowed but heeee, my gal isnt quite ready to tarn jing suo ai yet. Wait, can?

    RI?

Both my brethren-in-law, and my 3 nephews following his uncle’s footsteps all made their noises there. Rafflesians, not totally incapable as ruffians, do make a lot of noise, like ah Chong who did so in yesterday’s ST where he praised the late Sim KB……btw, he looked like the happiest dead person, smiling in every photograph on show.

Heee, yr 15 year old darling will hv to bide for his time, after his older bro.

Yes, me away this Friday but will try to wake Friday up esp for you………remember, that burly bearded him in Robinson Crusoe?

  222. Hi Tim,

3 times a day is one too many.

Do me a favour Tim. I think you better sleep in on Friday, don’t bother to get up for the posting. Give me a break, huh!

  223. Hi Tim,

Fancy Ronald Lee working till 2.28a.m. to place your song? And you were snoring away.

Let me put things right. My apologies. I think my brain is as rusty as Yew Kwong’s. My son did get all the book prizes, $30 for 1st, $20 for 2nd and $10 for 3rd prize. Is it the same for your girl?

What we don’t get is the bursary for top 10% of cohort being non-Singaporean (amount much more substancial). So you will be busy snapping pictures on Friday.

Now looking back, (of course we are thrilled when they get the book prize) I think what is important is they grow up a happy and a well balanced individual.

And when you go to a school like RI, if you are an average student, that’s very good already! Or even being able to get promoted each year, is good enough for me. Not good enough for you? No need to be top, lah. Can go crazy you know.

  224. Yes, Ronald Lee is a good chap, a catalyst in fostering friendship and is totally committed to his tasks. So dont let him walk past you without catching his hand……or pants if he starts to run.

I think my gal’s book prize amounts are close to what yr boy gets, small but symbolic.

My old old camera kena water at the pot-luck. Hopefully, my hair-dryer can complete its job by morn 2mrw.

Joining you in the memory lane stroll, sure, can still remember this remisier king…….clad in shorts even in the pre-university classes, very the chi-siow type & so acquired more EQ, paving his road to success more expeditiously than some nutties who shone in academia and now selling macademia nuts.

Me was monitor of a class which had this boy who hid a parang in his desk drawer for fights with sji kids. Told him not to bring the parangt to school again.

The next morning, I checked his drawer & found an axe. I was nonplussed when he said “You didnt say axe cannot what”.

So wonder no more why many ri boys made it in poli tics.
