Hi, my name is Emily. I’ve been living in England for the last 30+ years however, ever since I discovered your wedsite a year ago, I’ve been a regular browser. I valued the site as it is a very good way of keeping in touch and knowing what my compempories are doing at home.
I come home regular every year for the last 10 years as my children are now independent. This is “me” time now and I’m enjoying every minute of it. I’m semi retired, and will be retiring proper in March 2008. My profession was a “Clinical Auditor”, I think it is referred as “QA” in S’pore.
While I’m not able to take part in your activities, believe me I take a very keen interest in what’s going on. I read a lot, my other hobbies are line dancing, gardening, visiting historic places cooking and entertaining. For me these activities are all governed by the weather. In summer I’m outdoor making use of every minute of the sunshine while in winter I practically go into hibernation, it is a time that I would do nothing but curled up by the fireside and surf the net or read.
Being based in UK, I believe I have a lt to offer in so far travelling/holidaying in UK, culture exchange ect., I’m looking forward to attend some of the activites when I get back in 2008 and have some new friends.

Hi Lina

Hi Ron & Alice,
The Lake District is one of the more beautiful places to visit in England. I studied there and was on attachment at the Lake District, (studying hotel management)though a long time ago.
I think the best thing to do is to hire a car and check into a B & B place when you want to call it a day. You can move at your own relaxed pace, no hurry. What I love most are the thatched roofs and the cobblestone walkways.
The Lake District is famous for their afternoon tea of scones with jam and cream and Ploughman’s Lunch (at the pubs).
An excellent place for relaxing and a chance to get away from our hectic lifestyle.
Hi Emily
Is nice to know that someone from here is staying in England, by now I presume that you must have known England at your finger tips. My wife, Alice and I had been to England once, many years ago. We had visited places like the Shakespear’s birth-place, at Straford-on-Avon, the Oxford University, the Crown jewels, the London bridge, the under-ground Beef-Eater, and other places of interest.
One of these days, we would very much like to visit the Lake Site. We have heard that this place is very beautiful. We can charter a car and slowly drive along the Lake Site, and stay in B n B. or you can recommend a better place to stay.
We have many organised SHC activities here, through the website, you can really “feel” at home in Singapore, by browsing through the site. Hope you will be able to participate in one of these activities when you are in Singapore.
Hope to meet up with you when you are in Singapore.
REGARDS

Hi Emily,
A day has passed and allow me to break the silence here which, to the bosterous me, is deafening.
It’s nice to be away and yet keeps an eye of home.
Yes, SHC has given many the opportunity to meet and interact, share common interests and to return to their youthful heydays.
Thus, if you read of us doing the limbo-rock, playing chatek & 5-stones, gyrating & pulsating, it’s not a joke. It’s real and it’s still happening in this very happening place.
England will soon be into winter which is time for yr hibernation, doing nothing but curl up by the fireside and surf the net. And I wd suggest, do a bit more – pls share some travelling tips with us as we do hv avid travellers.
Till then we can only look forward to welcoming you to our activites in 2008 when you get back and make new friends.
