If you have some unwanted toys, I would love to have them

I am going up to Mae Hong Son, highest and most northern part of Thailand from 23 – 28 Dec 2007.  Along the way, I would be visiting villages, farms and hilltribes.

And, I hope to give away used toys to the children during the year-end festive period and Christmas season.  Many of these kids have never had the chance to have a toy.  I hope some of these kids will have something to cheer, as we cross 2007.

If you have any unwanted toys in your house, and you like to give it away, please do donate it to me.  I am going to the Pot-luck this Saturday and the Talent-time on the 24 Nov,  and if you are coming, I would ask if you bring the toys along.  Sorry, wont be able to carry large heavy toys, as the airlines just charge too much for overweight luggage.  Thank you.

  1. Terence, I’ll drive my kiddo’s motorcar to the PL and then you can drive it home, with boot-space to carry other toys.

Heee, seriously, I shd be able to find something light & not too bulky.

  2. Hi Terence,

I have more than 20 toys to give away – all very light. Alfred will pass them to you when he returns to Singapore on 19 Nov.

  3. Terence,

I hope to pass you some of my kid’s toys too. It will be swell for some deprived kid to enjoy them rather than have them cluttered in a corner of his room.

Hope to handover to you soon.

  4. Hi Terence,

Can you pls help to sign up my g/friend, Marlene Yap as a member too? (You’ve met her at one the line-dancing session at the padang). I’ve asked her to sign on line but not sure if she’s done it, so just want to make sure that her name is registered as a member so that she can join in the potluck. BTW, she’ll be bringing some soft toys for you to bring over to Thailand as well. Thanks, Lisa

  5. Hey Catherine, where have you been hiding? Coming to the potluck or not?
Must arrange for another lunch with your sister, Jane ;-) and Jie. Gotta be a Saturday right?

  6. Hey Mary,

Though I have not been logging onto the SHC website regularly, I try my best to keep abreast with the latest happenings. No, I have not been hiding but just have not made my prescence known.

I am fine with weekdays and Saturdays for our tete-a-tete but think my ‘sis’ Jane is only available on Saturdays. Am I right, Jane? Jie should be fine on anyday too?

As for the potluck, I may just turn up but not before I go pick up some food. Will have to play it by ear. So Dennis is it ok, if I come I come with food so you can’t blame me for not signing up haha! Hope to see you soon either at potluck or lunch, eitherways see you where theres food!

  7. Catherine.
Yes, yes. Do come. Dennis will never say no to such a sweet person, right Dennis?
Oh I forgot. You are a lady of leisure, hehe. I’m ok on week days too, if I’m not called up for relief teaching. Jie is another lady of leisure. So Jane, you say when ok?

  8. Hello Cath, Mary and Jie.
At work I have no time to logon to the website regularly but I do login whenever I can.
Yes you are all so understanding. I can meet up only on Saturday. I do see that all are ready for the Potluck which unfortunately I have already made appointment on that day…thus unable to join you.
However, if time permits, I may gate crash and join in the fun, can I?

As for our get-2gether, just let me know.
But I will be going up to Penang next weekends from 15 to 18 November for short break.

Till then, I love you all.
    Jane

    SATUR DAY SHOPPING FEVER.

  19. HI SUSAN & Company

Reading that all of you are enjoying yourselves in BBK, and going to CHATUCHAD to do your shopping, I would say that the dresses are fantastically cheap over there, do not miss the food also, especially the sea-food beehoon-mee.
No doubt the shopping days at CHATUCHAD are Saturdays and Sundays, may I suggest to STEVEN also that WEDNESDAYS and THURSDAYS are reserve for Flowers and plants. On these two week-days, the nurseries from all over Thailand would bring their blooming flowers and various plants to this place for sale, hundreds of them, along the lanes and roads at CHATUCHAD. Last week when my wife Alice and I were there in BBK, we brought back various Lily flower bulbs in different colours, hope that it can really grow here.

    Ronlai

  20. Hi Steven

For your interest in Lily flowers brought from CHATUCHAK, BBK, have had already planted in rolls in the garden, you will be the first person to be informed if it blooms, and be invited to view, hehe.

    Ronlai

  21. Hi Ron

Anyway, we were short of time so only managed to spend about 3 hrs there. Didn’t
managed to see the lovely flowers you mentioned. Maybe next time.

Thanks Steven, we took the train too. It’s pretty easy.

    Cheers,
    Susan

  22. Thank you very much for the toys. I now have 4 bags of toys which I shall bring up to Thailand tomorrow. And, I shall be giving them away, during my drive from Chiangmai to Mae Hon Son, highest point in Thailand. It’s cold.

Thank you again, and the village kids will love the toys.

    Terence Seah

  23. Wow, i received almost 300 pieces of soft toys. They will be flown to Bangkok, and subsequently put into the back of my car. Shall be driving to Lampang, Pai, and Mae Hong Son, near the Burmese border.

Thank you for the toys, for the effort and time in passing them to me, even from as far as Australia. The children in the villages will appreciate the toys, during this year-end festivities.

    Terence Seah

  24. Wei Terence
