  1. Hi Ah Nee,

I am spoilt for choice. Do you want to join Tues or Sat.dancing class? Sat.class is walking distance for me. But Geylang Bahru is OK for me too.

Tell Susan that now dancing has come to her doorstep. Or is she still too busy to join?

  2. Hi Lina

I heard you…. If I were to join, I wud prefer the Sat. evening class since it’s nearer for me. Let’s join Sat. class, ok or not?

    Cheers,
    Susan

  3. Hello Lina & Suzhang,

Saturday classes are for Rhythm n Waltz, you both partner each other is it…ha…ha..ha…
here again partners problem, how to join?

    Ah Nee

  4. Hi, don’t worry about the partner problem. Just learn first and have fun and wait for the gallant knight to appear.

If the response is poor, we can change to Samba or Tango or Baccarat.

Do take note that Latin cha cha will commence on February 26th, 2008 and not 19th February.

  5. Hi Dan,

Where got galant knight? Already so short of guys as it is.

Ronald Lee, You’ll be half dead even if you are on hire. So many of us girls?

Well, decide eh, Susan, Ah Nee, Molly. Yew Kwong when you joining? Talk a lot but no action. Have to go JB. Talk later.

  6. Wei wei Ronald,

You can or not? Two hours per session for each girl? And so many girls around, like Lina said, you’ll be half dead if you are for hire. Are you going to charge like the pro philipinas! “pow ka leow”. he…he..he…

    Danz,
How can just learn first and have fun and wait for the gallant knight to appear….got meh? where? Again, these dances need a partner to learn & dance. Tak jadi leh. :(

    Ah Nee

  7. Hi Ronald,

#4 “Need a fixed male partner”.

Am interested to hire you “for dancing only”. You hv to guarantee that I will not be harass by “other woman” then the deal in “on”.

    Regards, Peng Peng

  8. Hi Jonathan n Mary,

The error was intentional. Just trying to see whether you are awake and trying to generate interest in the dance class.

Ah Nee, we managed so far. Anyway the motto is be prepared! Knowledge is power!

Ronald n Yew Kwong are on hire, I am quite sure more are coming forward, perhap even Terence!

The girls are seeing a glimmer of hope!

  9. Hi Dancers,

Come to think of it, I don’t mind dancing the part of a guy cos can make some money. I want to be on hire too like Ronald. Any takers? After all rhythm n waltz is just like shifting the fridge, forwards and backwards only. No need to burn so many calories.

One thing for sure, John Howe cannot be my partner for waltz cos if I trip and fall, I’m sure to flatten him (under 55kg).

So, you girls decide, OK. Actually I like latin cha cha too, no need to hold on so tightly. More freedom and can be more creative!

Jonathan Ong, Bishan CC is just a stone’s throw away from your flat. You want to join? Maybe you change your mind now that it is so near.

Edward, Michael, Robin, go recruit some more guys, please.

  10. Oei Lina,

ha…ha…you very cute leh, we both partner each other, want or not? So on par, cannot make money but can burn calories lor. Afterall you said rhythm n waltz is just like shifting the fridge…you need more strength to shift me around mah, cos I am heavier than you, Ai mai? not a bad deal leh. :)

    Ah Nee

  11. Hi Ah Nee,

We will call this rhythm and waltz ‘lumsing’ ok. Since must ‘lum’ so tight all the way.

But we don’t go lumsing on 1/3. We go for tennis, gym, swim – poolside party OK.

  12. Lina@14
ya rhythm & waltz is more of a partner closed dance whereas cha-cha is more or a open dance.

am also thinking of going chit-chat session on 1 mar at andrew’s place also.

so many activities on SHC nowadays, so little spare time ;-)

  13. Hi Jonathan,

Guess holding such a position as Executive Director leaves you with little spare time. Join any activity that interests you, when you can find some spare time.

Look forward to seeing you at Andrew’s chit-chat session.

  14. “Jonathan Ong, Bishan CC is just a stone’s throw away from your flat. You want to join?”

Jon, I have bags of stones, boulders & pebbles as well so when you want to throw stones for some fun, do pls let me know & I’ll definitely join you…………

  15. LIna@23
Tks, am looking for more work-life balance…

Hope to make it so that can chit-chat more & meet the rest of the Bishanites & SHCians too!

  16. Dear dancers,

Still no response for Latin chacha. What happen to all the dancers from the rumba class. Or is any one keen on learning Samba?

Sorry I am not allow to put the credentials of Irene on his post. Just for your info, she was a professional latin champion with a string of titles. Hope Terence don’t kill me for that!

The following have responded for the Rhythm n Waltz class: Danz, Peggy n new members Florence n Edmund n Cat.

Calling, Dennis, John, Boonliang, Lawrence, Michael, Andrew, Jonathan, Robin, Gibson and all gallant men. Come and do your National service!

  17. Hi Dan

Have to firm this year’s travel schedule first b4 can commit.

Have not danced for almost three years… so become beginner(s) again!

    Cheers, Andrew

  18. Lina/Ah Nee/Dan

I don’t mind Latin Cha Cha. but not enough male partners is a big big problem. Not wise for ladies to take the male role o/wise you will sure develop ‘identity crisis” in life. Identity crisis + midlife crisis = disaster.

Dan – Tango is a nice dance.. but you need to advertise for male dancers in the straits times.
(As it is, there is a labour shortage everyone)

    Eliza

  19. Eliza @ 28

Short of male dancers. No wori. No prob. Plenty available. Go to Google or any Yahoo webpages n do searches. Key in “male dancers wanted” n click on search “all web”. Share the results wif those who are still looking 4 one.

  20. Hi Andrew Kuan, thanks for coming forward. Are you considering the Latin cha cha or rhythm n waltz.

We have managed so far with the handful of male dancers in previous lesson. Ladies, this seems a perpetual problem. Let see whether we can have some clones to sign up!

Why don’t we have more ladies to sign up in order to attract the ‘bees’. Don’t let me agonise anymore! Help! Terence.

  21. DanH, I happened to be in Serangoon Rd shortly after reading that perennial problem of yours and Bira’s distress call.

After work during the evening hours, many of these handsomes there find no place to go other than loitering around, playing with peoples’ bicycles and their bells.

If their initial excitement is anythg to go by, I think I hv found you all a goldmine……..yes, many readily smile & readily show their gold dentures.

If ai, pls let me know; if mai, nvm……….

  22. Well, easy for you to say mai leh – just 2 words – but it’s like a decree, returning my serangoon rd butties back to loitering aimlessly and playing with bicycle bells………….. some want but dont get; some dont want but always haunted, this is life, fair enuf…………

  23. Tim, I already have a hard time trying to round up the guys! Getting those guys of Serangoon Road to the dance floor would scare the wit out of the lady dancers.

Can you try again from a better source, perhaps starting with your goodselves!

  24. DanH, I thot you’re my butty but after reading yr “…….starting with your goodselves.” i cant be too sure now.

You want to chop me up (like the Perak Rd woman did in the 1970s or Leong SC more recently) and that’s one way I can come in selves.

Or you hv in mind letting the gals decide which part of me they want? Well, fair enuf but only if I know which part of me follows which gal will I then decide.

    Fair?

  25. Hi Dan @31,

You have asked for some help to have more ladies and more men to sign up for the dancing classes. I can only think we keep trying. Let me know if anyone has some ideas in mind.

    Terence Seah

  26. Hi Dan,

Samba is fine with me too since I have not done it before. Won’t the dance teacher get some of her male students to come and help us out if we are short of guys.

John Howe aren’t you signing up? And all the guys too – Gibson, Lawrence, Boon Liang, Andrew Y, Edward, Michael,Robin, Dennis. How about the girls – want to dance? Come give Dan some support leh!!

  27. Tim #32

Thanks for your suggestion – those goldmines at Serangoon… But I think hor, we don’t mine or pan gold. Anyway, with the price of gold soaring, I believe those handsomes are better off trading their gold dentures.

    Eliza

  28. USD900plus/oz – good deal.

Dig them at S Rd and be rich, then cha cha with wide smile all the way to the Bank of Singapura to liquefy with the paper cash king.

Then buy some value equities 1H 2008…..and waltz again into 2009/10…..return with samba and tango with sweeter smiles.

Which part of Tim is for sale/auction, at what price?

  29. Dan @ 31 n Terence @ 37

One plc 4 sure U can get e biggest catch is e empty plot of land nx 2 those stalls which some of U hd visited at Sg Rd. U just nid baits like Banana leaves, curry gravy n rice. ^o^

  30. Terence, you talk only.

I am not asking you to bring home the Patpong gals – we already hv enuf gals.

Why dont you consider getting the Pongpat boys who all look like Chow Yuen Fatt, here? Our gals will swoon and will start buying balloons soon………….

Eliza, you so cruel hor………wanting to pull out all my serangoon butties’ teeth. Like that, they wont be able to even nibble, not to mention bite so where’s the fun?

AndrewK, why enquire when what I hv, you shd hv……………..wrong? Btw, mine not functioning so well after I hv used up my quota at every kota including jln besar.

  31. Must maintain, grow and protect sovereign funds, glory and reserves: decide and dispose by Upstairs, yes?

Love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, prosperity, justice and health – must for a strong, growing and glowing nation and world, right?

  32. helo Dan @31
Not that im not supporting u..but Tues & Sats are our for me leh..

Bira..now i noe wat class u talking abt at Tennis thread
Nvm lah..u still can join me Wednesdy class
sori Dan…not trying to lelong ok :)

  33. The problem with these dance classes is that there’s always more ladies than men ! Where are all the men? They seem to shy away from dancing classes! And they claim that they cannot dance. If don’t want to go for class, how to learn?

Jeff Gan has welcomed all to the Kembagan CC on 24th Feb for dance night. Hope to see more guys there!

3 cheers for Dan Huang, who keeps the dancing spirit going … hip, hip, hooray! We need more guys like him!

  34. AndrewK @#46, skipped yr medication again huh??

Lydia, dancing isnt like playing badminton where you focus yr eyes not so much on the opponent’s face but on the shuttle and where the baselines are.

In dancing, one is only, at worst, an arm’s length away from his/her partner, and where does one fix his/her eyes on?

It’s never easy for someone to keep looking at my face, or me looking at her face.

All said, DanH is terrific in his perseverence which is laudable.

Terence reading, pls send some pongpat boys over………if cant find Chow Yuen fatt type, nvm, Lang Chi Pat type also can……some of our gals did watch cantonese operas and shd like the lang chye look. Otherwise, Lat look also can…….the Msian cartoonist is well known too.

  35. Hi Tim,Lydia n Terence,

Now that Chap Goh Mei has ended, I think those who are comtemplating to join or not the dance class would have a clear mind now.

Besides trying to find a location near MRT, the criteria for a good dance teacher is essential too.

If another week past with no better response, I may decide to rope in those who are coming to join an ongoing class.

As the D n d is coming, I thought it would be a good idea to learn some dance steps for SHCians, this may not be the case. I rest my case!

  36. Hi Dan @50,

Really I would love to join a dance class. I have to wait until I retire partially to find time in Singapore. Keep trying, dont give up.

    Terence Seah

  37. Ya lah Terence..u must join then the rest of the guys will follow.think u’ll look cute prancing around with so many girls queing wanna be yr partner!..hehe

Hey guys!..cepat lah, don sit & drool when the girls take the dance floor at our D&D.U know, we girls only will choose the best dancer everytime we go to the floor…so u all better gear up if u wanna to be popular!

  38. Thanks Terence for the effort! Since you travelling most of the time, it is not easy for you. But to wait till you are semi-retired may seems a long time. By that time we may have to dance with a walking stick!

The sad thing is that many are able-bodied but have no interest. So let it be. Most men and woman are governed by herd instinct so I have to bide my time.

Otherwise we will go ahead to join an ongoing class. Hi Nor, heard you are into ‘belly’ dancing, how the response?

  39. “…many are able but have no interest.” With that you hv finally hit the nail on the head (but pls, dont do that literally in exasperation hor) and can now rest but not in a case. Or a long box.

Just hv a good rest like I did last chap goh mey, slumped on a chair next to a bus stop along ophir rd & chatted the nite away with KT, wondering why for e.g. crocodiles hv more legs than us but they dont danz. We concluded that they too lack the interest.

  40. Hi Bira n Eileen n Lina Ng,

So far, Danz, Peggy, Florence,Edmund n Cat coming for Rhythm n Waltz class.

If we can’t get ten persons, we will proceed to join an ongoing class presently taught by Irene.

I will still try to get the Latin Cha Cha or Samba on a different night if Tuesday night is an issue!

Why am I persisting in getting dancer to come forward! Reason is I still have the passion to learn. One fine day I may just give up this volunteering work and let someone take over!

  41. Tim @ #54

Buayas are like autotraders. We just hang around with friends like “do-nothing”, have a chat, do our thing and just wait for the bait to come in. Then SNAP !!! yum, yum…

Minimum output for maximum input. The difference is that as human beings we hard try not to forget the difference between friend and prey. Sometimes it is difficult but at least we try. Hee-hee.

I really admire Dan. (I hope I got the right person.) A very intensive person and a study in perfection. Dance or chess. He over drives himself in work or play.

Buayas have a wise saying. “One snap, one lunch.” No need to jump around snapping in the air. Let the bait come to the buaya.

  42. Dan @ #56

You’re trying too hard, too formal.

SHC’s philosophy is “gotong-royong, cheap-cheap”. Let members help members.

Very simple. Let me try to help. A relentless Queen side attack strategy.

First, we’ll clear a floor at the romantic candlelight restaurant Philia for your use. Free rental just a yum-yum dinner. We’ll have the AV and big screens in case you want to playback or show training videos. Disco or ballroom lights. If you need mirrors, we get some for you. Keep it F&E (free and easy). Have a regular session like chess on the void deck, not a fixed schedule. People come; eat-a-bit, socialize-a-bit, dance-a-bit. Like trading. And like having dance mentors-on-tap and not instructors in a formal structured course.

Then apply Buaya Theory. Get someone like Lily or Renee to teach. I don’t know whether they can dance. It doesn’t matter. They can be walking into walls for all you care. You will find queues stretching from Bugis MRT beating down the door trying to join your tea-dance.

Poster girl enough. Say only-lah. Can already.

Use your Queen. Check and mate.

  43. Hi KT, I really like your sense of humour! I may just take your advice to go easy. What this about Buaya theory? Will it work on this platform?

I will sound out to Lily n Renee, btw both dance very well! We may drop by one fine day to listen to your splendid idea!

Dancing is an ongoing thing and may last for life. Too many dance steps to learn and not enough time. How many types of social activities out there which required devotion from a couple to dance in rhythm and in tune with beautiful music. This is life!

I am not for those quick steps and disco dance, but ballroom waltz is my cup of tea! Let hope there be more guys n gals will come forward and live the life that should be!

As for Buaya Theory, we will consider it on another forum. While here is ‘I could dance all night’!

  44. Wow, KT, so many cmts u had wrote so far, i always hv 2 skip cos too chim 4 me lor.. but tis 1, i can ustnd hor.. paiseh..

Yeap, if Lily is teaching, i dun mind joining d dance class lor.. Lily, lai leh.. members help members..

But hor, Philia can accomodate how many ppls har? pls make sure that it will not be over-crowded lor.. susah.. rite.. Nor, ANee, tio bo??

  45. I’m not good enough to teach but if we have a suitable venue and at least 10 students (me included) I can get the teachers (a husband & wife team) to come and teach @ $65 per person for 12 lessons. We can then use the same venue for jam sessions on weekends.

The venue should have at least one wall with full-length mirrors. Smooth hard flooring, cd player and sound system.

  46. Lily, Chian Wah have spoken to the Pines before to use their dance studio for dance practice. It come with a price.

Are you willing to look into it. Btw, what type of dance you have in mind, I will be the first to sign up!

  47. Lina @14 n @39 – didn’t realize I had some business here. Sorry for this very late response. Was caught up in so many things that I didn’t know whether I was coming or going. Regret unable to sign up with Danz because of pressure on time. Cutting down on activities and unfortunately this one happens to meet the axe. Will try to improve on my 55 and hope it will able to cushion your fall. Haha. Wardrobe problem will come in when that happens. Well Ah Nee also taking leave leh and Susan ??? All the other ex guy-colleagues also no sound leh. Alamak running late again. Taking my leave now. Sorry for ending so abruptly. Cya!

  48. Hi John,

Take your time, after all it is not quite 1 week yet for a reply. If you are running around so much, likely it will go below 55 and not up. Want a secretary?

  49. Hi Dan,

Don’t care whether the gallant knight appears or not, I have decided to join the Latin Cha
Cha class starting this Tuesday. The good news is I’m dragging my buddy, Gingko along to give you our support. Remember we must have supper after every lesson otherwise I will be famished.

  50. Helo Danz..
Yes im trying this belly dancing thingi!..but im not waiting for respond lah..just join some frens who pulled me along.Ive heard abt it,so thot just give a try.hhhmmm maybe next time round u might wanna join us eh?

  51. Hi Dan,

Tues classes are fine with me; be it Latin Cha Cha or Rhythm & Waltz. But how to get around the “partner” problem, huh?

Calling my Shifus (Dennis, Wendy & Lawrence), where are you?

    Hi Nor,

Yr belly dancing thingy (#67) sounded interesting but class commences at 9.30pm – a bit late. Our friend, Veronique, may be interested.

  52. Who is this guy who calls himself Tim Liu? I like your sense of humour! A guy does not need to have the drop-dead gorgeous look to learn dancing. Any plain looking tom, dick or harry will do. Just need an interest and a basic sence of rhythm & a love for music.. and appreciates the beautiful things in life. We can take our discussion off-line if you wish. My email lydiachin@dbs.com .. cheers!

  53. Hahaha, Lydia, thank you thank you but you hor, funny leh.

People call my name. Strange and I wd look a idiot to call my own name so tim liu doesnt call tim liu……will be very pleased to hear you calling tim liu when you’re happy and when you’re sad.

If a guy with that drop-dead gorgeous look learns dancing, the gals will drop dead, not him, all falling into his arms, with left-overs channelled for sale at SHC flea mart.

Heee, how did you know that the plain looking tom’s dick is hairy?

Seriously, sweet lady, how much can one score in skin-deep looks?

To me. it’s aura, personality and that “infantomable” (which I shall define it as an infant’s innocence) style attracts.

I hv been quite atheletic and I dont see any form of exercise – dancing included – being too difficult for me to learn and to excel. But dancing has to wait, till I find the interest which, for now, is still very much in grooming warrior spiders………

  54. MaryC………….shhhhh……………why tell everyone I wasnt so steady that nite holding………………………………………………………….yr umbrella, hee, it was intended lah, I wanted more shield mah.

  55. Hi Dan

Aileen and I would like to rejuvenate our ballroom dancing lessons, it is my fault : my travelling schedule can be disruptive with lessons.

Who knows 2008 onwards might be different where I can fix my schedules – pray, pray, pray.

  56. MaryC, Some, I hold their hand with 1 hand; some, I hold their umbrella also with 1 hand and the lucky few, I hold smthg they feel better than holding their hand or umbrella, with both my hands, and holding is a the appetiser to……………….more actions with my hands.

Heeee, will you be 1 of the lucky few………I know the answer, you dont.

  57. Hi Veronique, Gingko and Annto,
Noted your support for the Latin cha cha class. Unless we have ten persons, cannot start class. May join an ongoing class if it okay with you all.

Andrew n Eileen, we looked forward to the occasion when both of you can join us in the fun!

John Howe, Ah Nee n Lina Ng, are you ready to step forward!

I understand that having Latin cha cha on a Tuesday night is not popular choice. Therefore, we may hold the dance class until after the D n D. From April the class for be on a Monday night. The Rhythm n Waltz on Saturday will start when we have more dancers coming forward.

  58. Dear Danz,

Thanks for organizing. Admire your persistence. Me, need to let my legs heal besides, of late working later seems the norm. Miss…ing the Beef KT at Eminent ;)

    Chin up :) :D

    Cheerio! ChristinaCL

  59. Dan ,diehard danz…
wow!…thats the spirit we shud hv in more SHC guys!
OK..if your days & types of dances suits me, I will definately support your ‘baby’!
Location is also important…it must be centralised, then more ppl will consider..just my thots.

  60. “………Miss…ing the Beef(y?) KT at Eminent………”

Haha, Chris, I like yr open declaration.

KT, you hv another admirer but I wd like to suggest another more upmnarket rendezvous that the nice sounding Eminent………try 4 Seasons, say?

  61. Fyi….

There is a movie on Ch 5 tonite Mar 1st,
at 10pm called ‘Dirty Dancing- Havana Nights’

There’s nothing dirty about it as it is actually a film with lots of salsa dancing….watch it or tape it if you love salsa music/dancing etc ;-)

  62. Jonathan @ 85

I hvnt watch tis movie yet but twice “Dirty Dancing” starred Patrick Swayze n Jennifer Grey. I love those dance moves.

  63. YK@87

Yes, Dirty Dancing 1 featured a young Patrick Swayze as the main actor…

Dirty Dancing 2, Havana Nights will see an aged Patrick Swayze as a dancing instructor. He still looks very good for his age, like a lot of SHCians here ;-)
So don’t miss it if you remember Dirty Dancing 1.

  64. Dear daancers,

Jam n Butter session this Friday at Singapore Recreation Club. The band start from 8.00pm!

Those coming please indicate as this is a private club. One drink cost $10.70.

    Danz

  65. Hi Danz,

You got poor response meh? Why Jams n Butter session this Friday is cancelled huh. I have not response yet mah…..apa macam. :(

    Ah Nee

  66. Hi Ah Nee,

Sad to say nobody say would come except Bira!

It okay as i have Chinese language class to attend.

I am planning for a Good Friday Jams n Butter from 8.00pm. Anyone interested, let me know as limited to 20 pax only. it will be held at Singapore Recreation Club!

  67. Dear Dan

Why don’t you erase and replace this post (which is already outdated) with the Good Friday Jam session @ SRC and state the cost as well.

I am interested, please register me for the jam.

  68. Dear Lily n Eileen,

Noted your interest. Per drink cost $10.70

Understand that Friday night is more for ballroom dances.

Do look out for new ongoing dance class coming up soon!

  69. Hello Danzing kakis,

Dolly u are right lor, my colleague said the cost of the drink could be higher now at SRC. In any case I am going….Danz, friday night is for all kind of dances, including social dance, line dance and ballroom dances. Wei wei all the dancing kakis, the dance floor at SRC is much bigger than the SGCC and we have not been there as a SHC group before, so what are your waiting for…lets go…:)

    Ah Nee

  70. Dear Danz,

How about posting a new category called “Jam & Butter Sessions” where all future dance outings can be posted/edited to update the latest news?

It would help for easy reference for the SHC Dancing Buddies…thanks for doing an excellent job as EO!

  71. Weiwei ANee, u said going, tis Fri or Gd Fri har.. I tot tis Fri bo liao.. Yeap u r rite, if we r going, cost must not b d main factor lah..

Halo, cant compare like dat la, hv not bn 2 SRC yet but I like d frenly environment at SGCC doe I am not reli in2 dancing lor..

  72. Dear Jonathan,

You have a good idea there! Getting into SRC may posed a problem as i member can only sign in 10 persons.

Bill Cheong n Jessie Teo are member of SRC. If Jessie cannot come, then we have to limit to 10 person.

Besides SRC, we also have jams at Serangoon Garden Country Club, but only on bi-weekly. Other venues are Safra Mount Faber, Singapore Swimming Club n Orchid Country Club n Club 5 at Beach Road.

To get the posting up is no issue, but it will be additional work.

  73. dan, yr drinks @ $10.70 too expensive lah.

KT, you still hv yr flea tables left? Come let’s set up shop across st andrews rd on the supreme court steps to sell iced-cold drinks @ $1.50/can.

Capital investment guaranteed; 100% returns assured.

    Ai mai?

Or you’re now fetished watching Lina make cakes?

  74. Hi Dan,

Pls. put my name down for Good Friday jam session at SRC.

Tim, how come my cake making extend to dance posting. You too free lah!!

  75. Drinks @ 10.70 @ SRC is reasonable! There’s live band, and you can dance from 8pm till 1am!

For those of you who are keen on dancing @ SRC, let me know. Email or call me. Bill Cheong & I will be there on 7th, 14th & 21st March. Bill can sign 10 guests, and if Jessie Teo comes along, they can sign 20 guests. Hope to meet more danz enthusiasts from SHC.

  76. Oei, KT, where are you?

See, wenow hv a competitor in LydiaC.

Margin is tight so we hv to cut cost so cant engage Jeff & his nap tune danzers and will hv to provide the band do the danz ourselves.

Pots 7 pans fr me to make the music and you do yr favourites danz……remember yr favourite pattern, oushing yr head forward then backward as you work yr shoulders in the opposite direction.

And our performance has got no closing time unless they switch off the lights along st andrews rd.

    Lydia, lai, we’re ready…………

  77. Tim @#101 and 105

    Hee hee. You lead manager.

    I fox trot behind you.

We’ll get them a spill proof bag for takeaway with a flexi tube. They can get pass security and drink while they dance.

Sell it at even more reasonable $6.50 per pack.
No need table. Park the car and use Ter’s booty idea. Can also sell hot dog.

I am seeking partners to do the same thing after this pilot for the F1. That’s BIG business. We will drive along the route and sell through open windows. The SHC Hell Angels Bucycle Gang will be our runners.

  78. maybe other than Terence, we shd also rope in LydiaC who, being a SRC member, can carry bag of drinks inti the club to sell….and with F1 in the offing, wow, just cant wait to make the big $.

Msia boleh, Spore pun boleh, we lagi boleh…….

  79. Hi Dan and all

I just discovered that Jasmine Room has full-length mirror on one side of the room.

Is this suitable for social dancing fellowship?

    Warmest regards

    ???

  80. Hi Andrew,

Yes, it sound good. I would be like to come by for a looksee?

When are you available? I will be away from tomorrow till coming Tuesday. Will meet up then.

  81. Hi Dan

You may call me on my mobile and arrange a weekdays or join us on a Saturday in March from 6pm to 8pm during tennis practices.

    Cheers, Andrew

  82. Hi Andrew/Dan,
Doe I am not a vry ardent player in social dance but I think Jasmine Roon (at Tanamera rite?) is abit far 4 those members residing in the West region side of SG leh..

I noe, Andrew, u did mentioned dat MRT is easily convenient but I must say that the ride journey is abit 2 far and some of members might hv 2 leave early to catch the last 2 trains, assuming dat they hv transfer at Raffles City den to Jurong East.

Unless of cos, u arrange for afternoon jam i/o of nite lor.. den, shd b np lor..

  83. Function Room opens from 6 to 11pm.

If end around 10:30pm still in time to catch MRT rides both ways.

From TM to City Hall takes about 20 mins, to JE is about 40/45 mins.

Our 700 km2 island is quite small and convenient.

  84. Thanks Andrew, for offering your place as venue for dancing lessons, tennis lessons & chinese class. But, could u we hv a show of hands and see how many people are keen to go for the dance lessons? My opinion is to have it on the same night at the tennis lessons. Is that on Sat nights? We can do a fortnightly session, combine it with pot-luck makan. Hopefully, Lily can offer to teach. I can assist. And we need more guys to come forward. Any galant gentlemen out there, keen on teaching basic social dance? Or learning? Free lessons, come complete with food & pleasant company too!

  85. Hi,

When will be the next session for get together to teach some basic steps to kick-off for any party. Sorry Dan, I knew you alerted me that classes will commence but at that time, I was involved & with my pretty tight schedule having to practise with my dance mates, could not commit.

Do let me know if you are organizing one. T u!

  86. Hi Lydia

If there is sufficient show of hands, we can organise one for Saturday social evening involving dancing and potluck fortnightly either after/with social Mandarin, swimming, gym or tennis.

For those who like walking/cycling, there are pleasant active, green and clean hinterland/park connectors including the famed Bedok Reservoir nearby.

This way we can share/average costs just like split shares (in equities)so long those involved are “not calculative”. We shall count those committed, are reasonable and with well meaning to prevent any unhappiness.

Let all involved are happy, pleasant, genuinely keen, dedicated and diligent enough to learn/grow and enjoy fellowship.

The Jasmine function room operates from 6pm to 11pm, costs $25 per session.

It makes great economic and social sense to maximise its availability and utility.

  87. Hi Andrew Kuan at 118,

    Excellent idea.

Instead of going to hawker centres to eat on Sat night after swim/gym/tennis/Mandarin it would be better to have a pot luck fortnightly gathering.

What say you guys and gals ?
    pls. comment.

  88. “When will be the next session for get together…….”

There are gaps before and after the word “get”. If the front gap is closed, I too wd love to sign up for the session and there we’ll all get-together to forget everything………..our aches, troubles, worries, that cpf withdrawal might be tweaked, that tun sri dr kestari has escaped from the zoo…………….
