  1. Hi Sue n Alice,

The venue is confirmed at Marine Cove (which is at East Coast beach next to Macdonald) coming Sunday from 3.00pm.

Please take this opportunity to learn proper handling of the bowling balls from a pro!

This rate is only available to silverhair members!

    See you folks!!

  2. Hi Dan,
    Hi Dan,

I’ll definitely be there tomorrow, if I can’t make it by three then by four.

Grace Kok, Mary Tan, Jessie Teo, Lin Tan, Roland Tong, Boon Liang, Alice and Ron Lai and a few others whose names I can’t recall — where are all of you? Awaiting your response.

  3. Hi Dan,

You have occupied too much space in this Post. Please remove the formatting. You can do this by not copying and pasting from another program. Try making the change. Or simply type into the text box.

    Terence Seah

  4. Hi Terence,

I did type within the box, but it still sink to the bottom. What to do lah, the text always play hide and seek with me!

Today, we have a good start for our bowling session. Six bowlers turn up. Danz, Alice Seah, Sue Chan, Philip Chua, Molly Chua n Boon Liang!

This bowling session will be held on every alternate week.

Next session will probably be at CSC at Tessemsohn.

Coaching will only start when we have a minimum of five pax. The $30 charge is for 3 hours per session. This rate only apply because we are silverhair!

From the record for today, most of us are averaging at the 100 marks. The highest is 137 points, I think all of us need some coaching if we want to qualify for the Senior Citizen Championship!

  5. Dan @ 7

I would like to join you at CSC for next session also…

    My average is 200 plus……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..over 2 games ;-)

  6. Yhanks Molly for pointing that out. I refer more on the average of three game! Credit must be given where it is due! Boon Liang got a free game for that achievement courtesy of Alice Seah.

Dolly, how do a delete the existing post and do a new one!

  7. Hi Dan @7,

Very good, you have kicked off your love in bowling again. There are many SHCians who love bowling, including the longkong boys and gals. When my son was 5 years old, he loves to bowl with a special bowling ball with both hands, with the back facing the pins. I hope one day, you will organise Bowling Nite.

Meantime, I have removed the formats in your Post. Avoid, copy and post from another program. Dont forget to use the bowling category.

    Have fun.

    Terence Seah

  8. DanH, do I need to taking the coaching lessons?

If I were to join you folks for a session, I’ll dedicate 1 game to my butty Benson Koh…….he’s the BEST, simply fabulous !

  9. Hi DanH,
Wish you can orgainise the games on any weekday evening iso weekend.
Will find time off to join you and the rest
on next session at CSC bowl.

    Regards/Peter

  10. Hi Tim, since your bowling rating is good, there no need to take up coaching. Unless, you want to improve further.

Peter, we are looking forward to bowl with you.

Jonathan, we are there for fun, but it also good to invest in some coaching to improve our skills in bowling. The sense of achievement is there whenever we hit a strike and when our average hit the 170 marks!

    Danz

  11. Hi Dan Huang,

Count me in please. but I am not keen in the coaching session.

I just like to play basic bowling for fun which our late Benson Koh has taught, monitor our performance and gave useful advices on how to throw, stand etc. and not for competition.

    Cheers.
    c ya there.

  12. Ha..ha..ha…..Tim, you are right, I remember the last time at Marine Bowl, Steven holds the ball, said a prayer, then he throw the ball to the longkang…ha…ha…ha…that was very funny of him. :)

    Ah Nee

  13. Yes, ANee, that WAS him and he’s back in my books. I believe he’s a changed man today….if I can make it 2mrw nite, will try to help him out….bowling is easy & fun.

  14. Steven @ #28

    Be reasonable.

As much as he likes to, you can hardly expect Tim to go around carrying everybody’s balls. You have to learn to play with your own.

    H X 2

  15. Heee, didnt I say that Steven is a changed man (pls dont construe that to mean he was smthg else than a man before)…….he now calls tim tim liu “tim ah liu” here and “tim ah kor” smwhere else. Bet it’s going to me “tim liu ah kor” or “tim ah kor liu”……….then really you kor bo wa kor.

KT, tim carries only balls strategically & naturally positioned but…….pls dont hv any ideas : no matter where you place yr balls, that still wont do unless you’re a man changed to…………..heeee, even then, you still look like KT, not pretty/sexy.

  16. Thanks Dan,Tim,Alice,
    Bira,Chin Chin ,KKLoh,
Jon Ong,Ron Lai n Alice for your wonderful company and to some chit chatting n eating at the nearby Laverder’s Food Court.

    Highly recommended:-
    If you eat here,
Kok Kee wanton mee -awarded by Green book for Best food category. Long Q.
    Wanton mee is
    “song how” ie springy
unless at most other food stalls soft and soggy. Yuk!

If u happen to be in K.L.along Petaling street don’t miss the best wanton noodles at Koon Kee.

Whenever,I visited this stall , I always go for double bowls. They put oyster sauce and black soya sauce instead of chilli sauce as in S’pore. dry springy noodles. Moh Tak Theng!

    Eating is Believing.
    Ranking: *****

i)Thanks to all for sharing your tips in bowling.

ii) Yesterday, “cheong cheh”,7 out of 10 throws entered into the longkangs.

iii) Most impt of all,an evening well spent.

iv) Manoo, with so many SHC actvities,
how can you ever be bored ?
    Do join us next time.

  17. Thanks to you too Steven and the others for outting together a nite to enjoy.

If there’s a need to queue for food that you hv to pay, I wont want it, cocky wanton mee or nor bur thanks to you and Bira for actually standing in the line for me.

Btw, you’re getting into the game and with more practices, you wont be the same, will make yrself a name and on the lanes, difficult to tame……….

  18. Hi Tim kor at # 32,

Thanks for your bowling tips and I must say you are good at rhyming words too.Game, same, lane, tame

Whether cocky wanton mee or not, if you want something good, you either crave for it or just leave it.

    The choice is yours.

If I am hungry, I too would not wait for 1/2 h to q for the cocky mee.

    It is just ridiculous!

    Everywhere q,q,q, and
with existing 4.5 million people still not enough.

With 6 million as needed by Spore Govt, the q,q,q,will gets longer and longer.
    Not 1/2 h but 1h.

At Clementi, the exisitng claypot chicken rice recommended by channel U is very delicious but you have to queue for at least 1 h or more esp. on Sats.

I dread to see this scenario in future but has to face reality.

  19. My philosophy in life is very simple : caterers are expected to serve good tasty food bcos I pay for it. No matter how loud a reputation the caterer & his food has,(usually hear-say feeding the herd instinct), so long as there’s a queue, I’ll walk away cos I wont want to be one more to make them richer than rich, and usually they wd hv dumped basic courtesy into the bins long long ago.

At the last census, the count was 4.8mio. If you hv some time at nite, do drop by at geylang and walk the back-lanes btwn Lor 14 & Lor 18. In there, you’ll be shocked to find the make-shift casinos operated by foreign talents outnumbered those manned by locals.

Haha, I can organise a walk-about there where you can also see a lot of tua tua liaps……………….

  20. Last Wednesday 10 bowlers came to try thie skills at knocking the pinball over!

Danz, KK Loh, Alfred Ang, Yoon Chin Chin, Bira Lupolo, Maggie Teo, Betty Lim, Jonathan, Janet Chan n Amy Kor’

Though most of the points hover around the 100 marks, we nonetheless have a lot of fun!

I believe we could improve on it. Coaching will start if I can find two more bowlers to join me.

Eileen Lee came just on time to join us for a sumptuous dinner at Samy Curry!

  21. Sorry Boon Liang, you will there too, how can I leave you out!

Therafter, Danz n Boon Liang joined Terence n a few other for beer n dinner at Geylang Lorong 9!

  22. I am so sorry Susan Chan, I put your name as Janet Chan. Must be one of those aging malady!

Our fling with Terence n others was a last minute thing!

  23. Hi Dan,

Its alright as long as you can remember us gals by sight will do!

Once again, many thanks for organizing this bowling session with overwhelming response!

    Cheers!
    Sue

  28. Last night at Safra Mount Faber we have Caroline, Alice Seah, Bira, Yoon Chin, Danz, Boon Liang, Tim Liu, Molly Chua in attendance. Ronald Lee came as an observer!

Danz n Tim has a bet and quit on two games! Look out for the next session.

    Danz

  29. Like many of the soccer matches played recently, we (Dan/tim and Boon Liang/tim) drew 1-1…….and I had had the worst of distractions in my life so much so that my thumb got stuck in that inviting hole. Thanks to Bira’s facial powder, damage to my finger was reduced and I look forward to a rematch without distraction of cos…………….yes, ban gals wearing shorts !
