Vincent Khoo – Profile

Hi, my name is Vinent Khoo, and I was introduced to SilverHairsClub a few years ago.  I live in Thailand for the last 20 years.  My background is in the  industrial spare parts business, and familiar with the industrial estates in Mattaput, Rayong and Bangpakong.

I had retired since 5 years ago.  Today, I live a relaxing life, on what I originally targetted; and that is SGD $500 per month.  My residence is a one room condo on Rachachadapisek Road, Bangkok.   To me, food is easily available at the 3 supermarkets nearly.  Well, as long as one has money, one can get almost all kinds of goods and services.

I shall continue to stay here in Bangkok, as long as I am fit.  Give me a call when you are in Bangkok.  Can bring you around, as long as you cover my food and transport.  My tel/SMS is +6681 555-9950.

  1. Hi Vincent, My name is Charles Chua and I spoke to you on Terence’s h/p. I said I would contact you by e-mail but have not yet and I apologise for that. I have not forgotten about what we spoke and will certainly call/e-mail you after I settle some things this month.

Cheers and good health to you. Look forward to meet with you later.

  2. Hi Vincent,

We met in Bangkok during our visit with a group of SHCians. Terence with his wife and son was there too.

We do envy you, having retired and enjoying life there! Since you are familiar with bangkok, we should co-ordinate with you for a trip there besides the one Terence has in mind.

    Let us hear from you!

    Danz

  3. Hi Vincent,

I’m a har-sip percent khon Thai. I’m still actively working and I’ve always said I’ll never retire as I enjoy and find immense satisfaction at what I do at work. Having said that nothing is cast in stone.

The nature of my work involve regional projects and I run two offices, one in Singapore and the other in Bangkok. So as not to show any favourtitism (as I have different partners for the S’pore and Thai offices) I try to spend equal time between the two offices.

As a result in a typical month I’m two weeks in S’pore and two weeks in Bangkok. My interest when not at work are in descending order – sailing, diving, tennis and golf. With golf being number 4, I’m always fighting for the booby prize at golf tournaments – if I take part at all.

I too live in a studio apartment (sounds nicer than one room) at Sukhumvit which I rent for THB 7,000 (SGD 300). I think it’s alright but many of my Thai friends say it’s expensive.

I’ll be going back to Bangkok this Wednesday and will be there until the 25th or 26th of the month. It’ll be good to catch up with you and maybe Terence too if he is in Bangkok.

  4. Hi Vincent, good to hear from you. The group of us did have a wonderful time in Thailand, with you bringing us all over. You are really living it up, do take care!

  5. Hi Vincent!
I’m interested in going to Thailand if there’s a group going up during the Dec holidays.Pls keep me posted.
I’d been to Thailand several times and I like the food.

    Hi Ann Giri!
Do U remember me? I rang a couple of times after we met at CBC for singing sessions. Did U go to Thailand recently? I jux came back fr Perth, staying wif one of SHCians, Mary Lee. Enjoyed myself very much.
    Keep in touch,
    Cat Ho

  6. Hi Vincent,

You are almost close to my ideal, living healthily, happily and managing all your resources well, except you dont play golf lah.
Since you are there, why dont you try to find our the cost of medical checkup for man and woman, and all the neccessary logistics. Then those who want can enlist your help to arrange appts, hotel, transportation etc.
That can keep you with something to do and also providing a service to others and it will be up to them to pay you in kind. Cheers to you, and I want to as strong as you when I grow up. Ronald, remember we went to Pattaya with Terence ??

  7. Hi! Catherine Ho
Nice to know you.I will keep you posted on any trip that I organise for Thailand.I have also gone to Perth 5 months ago. Nice place but too quiet for me.Bye now.

    Hi! Ann Giri
Good to hear from you.Actually I do enjoy these trips and I want to organise something diffent next time like going on a ‘sotong ship'( catching sotong)and eating fresh sotong, fish and prawn in the ship.

  8. Hi! Ronald Wie
Nice to catch up with you.The cost for a full medical checkup is not more than $500 at one of the top Hospital in Bangkok. I don’t know whether it is expensive or not.
As regards playing golf I find it is an elitist game.I have known many people dying from all kinds of illnesses
and they are golfers.Being a common man I only play a common game –bedminton!!
There are other procedures such as facial enhancement, breast augmentation and stretch marks removal.
Should you need any other info, I shall be glad to provide.
    Regards

  9. Hi Vincent, must say hello to you first before I respond to Kenneth=T. Have heard of the many exploits and heroics abt you……..dont ask me from who, famous people are well known even if he lives in the jungle.

Kenneth-T, “bedminton” is an old game given a new name. Ask yr makers how it’s played (assuming you still dunno) then go geylang to ask for the price of a maid. As a guide, Fang goes for $80 and Bi @ $60, and in soccer parlance, you’ll hv to play “away” which means that you’ll play in the maid’s room obviously giving her home ground advantage and a partisan crowd. If you wish to play it on neutral ground, try Hot81 or Fragrance………..

  10. Hi Cath, my mind’s not gone yet, still remember you dear!
No, have not gone traipsing recently, would love very much to. Thinking of Perth but haven’t done any planning yet… only thinking lah..

Hi Vincent, am waiting for your sotong trip. More details, hor.. Maybe I will forget the Perth trip for this sotong trip. Maybe also learn how to play betminton..

  11. Hi Ann Giri,
O.K. 4get abt Perth trip, Shall we go to Bangkok or Vietnam tog in Dec?
Hope can meet U at 1 of the “bedminton” games esp on 29/6.
Wat Sotong trip? Is it Kelong?
I thought Vincent is in Bangkok? Correct if I’m wrong.
R U going to the monthly meetin in July?
U can dream abt Perth, pray 4 it & 1 day yr dream will come true. Nothing is impossible. If there’s a will there’s a way.
    Keep in touch!

  12. Hi Vincent

My friend (another SHCian, Betty Ho) and I thinking of a short trip, either to Malaysia or Bangkok in July or Aug 2008 (to destress). Would be great if you could help us source for cheap accommodation and be our guide if we do decide to go Bangkok. Would you be able to guide me to halal eateries too as I’m a Muslim?

    Regards

    Norhayati

  13. Dear Nor

Give the poor man a break and do-it-yourself in Bangkok!!

How cheap is the accomodation you want? Do you need it to be safe, conveniently located to shops and food?

    I recommend these two places:

    1. Reno Hotel, just across the road from Mah Boon Krong, next to National Stadium Skytrain station. A twin-bedded room should be around B1,000.
    email: info@renohotel.co.th or http://www.renohotel.co.th

    2. Golden House, small boutique-style hotel; I stayed for B1,400 last year. Right next to Central Department Store Chitlom, the Skytrain, walk to Central World Plaza, Pratunam, etc.
    email: ghouse_g@hotmail.com or http://www.goldenhouses.net

Halal eateries are all over Bangkok even in the food courts… should be no problem here.

So just book your tickets with JetStar or AirAsia, your hotel on-line and GO!!

  14. Hi! Norhayati
Kenneth and Steven have given you the standard rates but there are cheaper ones around Baht 700 per night. Food is definately no problem.

    Hi!Tim Liu
Nice to know you.Your explanation to Kenneth show your experience in this field. However you have noted it is an old game but for some like Ann Giri who have not played for quite some time have forgotten how the game is played.
Never mind,I will tell her a liitle refresher course will keep her in good fit.Catherine Ho says she wants to meet Ann Giri in one of the “bedminton”games.I hope she is not shy unless she participes in it.
Please note I shall be in S’pore around 12 July 08.

    are cheaper ones

  15. Haha, Vincent-K, you dont seem to know Ann-G at all………but nvm when you meet up with her she’ll show you how smashing she is with her bedminton skills & spills……….

  16. Hi! Tim Liu
Thanks for your info. Right now I am playing too many games. Some of these games have a lot of responsibilities.
Anyway I shall be going to S’pore on the 12 July 08. Will
catch up with you when there.Rgds

  17. Hi Vincent,

Just wondering how you are, and where you are now.

Wanted to contact you by email, but Terence suggested this mode, to ensure that you will get it.

Like to know the progress/status re plateau in high country. Perhaps if you can write me at nachind@hotmail.com.
