Hi Agnes
“DANCE FOOTWORK” from Aug.30th to Sept.14th will be introductory dances at the Esplanade Recital Studio, will be taught by professionals. You need not have top bring a partner, but if you have one so much the better. They are supposed to introduce you the various dance steps, not on “teaching”, please note.

Hi Ron
Thanks so much for the info, would not have known about it if not for your posting.
Will register with SISTIC tomorrow for Swing and Belly Dancing as the workshops are back to back on a Sunday.
Would you know if I need to get my own partner for dances that need partnering.
I hope to meet some of the SHR members for these classes and have fun together.
Cheers
Agnes

Cheers, Lydia.

Dan
Don’t think you have time for Disco Rock as you will be at Oxford for Saturday Night Fever!
Hi Ron Lai,
I am keen on the Rock n Roll and the Disco Rock sessions on 30 August.
Are you saying that anyone without any knowledge in the dance mentioned can also take part?

Hi DoreenN
Thanks for your support and reassurance, your encouragement will definitely go a long way to give other SHCians a “FOOD OF THOUGHTS”.
Sorry to have omitted to give details of the registration office for the “FOOTWORK” dance workshop. Pleae contact SISTIC Hotline: TEL: 6348-5555 for purchasing tickets to the workshop, at $12 per participant per session (90mins per session), please hurry, tickets will be sold out soon.
Alice and I have registered for “CUBAN SALSA” would you like to join us in this category?
There is another category of dance “LA SALSA”, this dance is a modern version and fast salsa, whereas the “CUBAN SALSA” is the standard salsa dance, so pick your category carefully. For “ROCK N ROLL”, please note there are two different dates available.

Hi CatherineY
This “FOOTWORK” dance workshop is to be held at the indoor Esplanade Recital Studio, not at the open- air stage beside the Esplanade Food Court, you once attended for the free dance lessons. This free dance lessons at the open-air will be stage again soon, will let you know once I am given the news.
Your calling for Gwyneth and Helen to take up Bachata is a good encourage. Bachata is a very simple dance, beside the usual twirls and hand movements, you just have to do the HIP MOVEMENTS, left and right, according to the 4th beat of the music (e.g. the SQUARE RUMBA, 4th beat, when you flip the leg).

Hi Terence
Is nice of you to point n share your thoughts, at least, not only myself but the SHCians will be enriched to the extend of knowing more about SHC’s policy.
No doubt I have not mentioned at the first instant, but,am glad to let you know that Alice and I have already committed and registered ourselves to the workshop on 13th Sep. to fine-tune our dance steps on CUBAN SALSA. This Salsa dance which is a craze now in Singapore, is been taught by dance professionals at the Esplanade under their “FOOTWORK” dance workshop programme.
Alice and I would only hope that the SHC dancers would take advantage of this opportunity to fine-tune their dance steps, in which they are now learning at some CC.
Terence, we will be very happy if you can find time in your tight schedule to join us in this workshop, even though you are a beginner.
RonLai
Hi Ron,
Where is the venue? Will be interesred in some of the dances
Cheers

From my perspective point of view, I don’t think Ron Lai has broken the rules but rather he is sharing the “Footwork” dance workshop with fellow members.
This kinda of information is very useful and I have follow quite a number of his thread, they are very informative and please keep them coming.
Hi Ron Lai, how to register for the dance workshop, rather keen in Rock & Rock and Salsa? Can you let us which website link to log in for more registration information.
Thank you so much..
Cheers!!
Dear Ron,
Thanks for the info on the dance workshops. Is this at the same venue that we attended the last time? The open air area at the back of the esplanade?
We missed you and Alice last night at RTC where most of us worked up quite a sweat doing the social dances as well as line dancing. We had Andrew (Bessie’s husband) and James leading the ladies with lots of twirls and hand movements in Rock n Roll, Rhumba, cha-cha etc. Then we had Mega who gave the delighted ladies an impromptu Bachata lesson which left the ladies clamouring for more Bachata music and dance. Like Dan said, we had a small group of about 20 who turned up and all of us took turns being guided by the more seasoned dancers. All in all it was certainly a fun night and we look forward to more ‘jam’ nights like this.
Gwyneth, Helen – want to join the Bachata workshop?
