Sunday morning Reflections

Having a break after all the manual washing living on this rented room, old rustic bungalow, without fridge,air-con,washing machine, but  with a big forested like garden, bird chirping away near my window I can’t help but recall my RV dream of settling in country side Thailand.

But then again, since I was back in Dec 2007( after a few months near Phuket), many, many beatiful things happen (finding a job, new friends, new interests, etc) much through SHC that somehow makes it harder to think of RV in Malaysia or Thailand, but who knows what destiny can bring.  The point is that SHC can bring you  that much more closer to your dream if you are careful, open minded, take your time to discover the chaff from all the flares,  and not turning it  into a nightmare instead. I now discovered that with the many frends I have made, that i could easily get a few friends to go on a short notice to Malacca or for a night of Karaoke easily.

Before I  rant on within the 15 mins I have, before going for our weekly ritual badminton that we all have come to love, I just want to comment Patrick for being strong as big as  a boulder as he is to offer his services in travel, betting and advisory on heart matters.  I symphatised with him as at times SHC seems to be ready for a truly good ground for  a matured, heart opening, no holds barred,  exciting place to have a forum on anything that interest SHC members. So Patrick keep on, you have my support as I think we will get there someday soon.  Briefly a forum is to have different conflicting views aired to provide an avenue for set minds to learn of other people’s point of views and looking at facts from different angles discovering realms of possibilities that is left undiscovered or never thought possible.  Many of us have discovered and realise that we could do more things as a group which I will share.

Back to achievements or dreams that I or a few have wanted to do and have done the past year. The cycling group has got more interesting discovering new challengers, like cycling to Pengarang, Desaru, 60 km /120km rides.   Adventure (SHAG ) group was initiated organising challenging walks of 12 km up and down Bukit timah hill and climaxing to the top of Mt Ophir and back safely.  Water rafting up Ipoh, with Caving and Rafflesia hunting were also clocked by those who were keen with such things.  On roller blading did the night 10Km blading from ECP to Downtown East, and finally yesterday, did roller blading to CV and back with Kat and Stella ( who must have done her longest skate ever although she almost made it there).

From never doing any kind of dancing before (shy, etc) i have love to do line dance and also social dancing. On Country line dance now I have discovered Monday nights free dance jam (thanks to Rosalind), and on Sept 12 hopefully we have our ‘Love for Country line dance jam with Hamidah ‘ at NSRCC an event that can spark greater interest among new and old members.

On Sept 13 the Mid Autumn event I hope we can have the maximum number of Karaoke singers turn up , as I will make sure everyone will have a chance to have your  stage, and Caroline our Singing Queen will be there too.  I am trying to find someone who can be kind enough to lend us a karaoke machine with ‘automatic’ scoring so that we can have a friendly unbiased scoring or feedback system to select our top karaoke singers and also for general feedback.  Anyone with such a Karaoke player to lend ?  Cheers.

  1. Hi Ronald

I have always had a quiet respect for you as an all-rounder. I admire your enthusiasm for life, living and learning.

Thanks for taking the time to type this post to share with us your thoughts.

    Joy

  2. Hi Ron,

It’s something nice to wake up on a sunday morning(almost lunch) to.At least it is good feeling to have that despite my initial entry involving the introduction of a match maker to the club and the furore over gambling tips in horses and EPL soccer(if one is winning consistently which I am proving in horse racing especially with my recent profitable form in the last 4 races that investments if judiciously selected can turn into winning investmments.I have lost on horse racing in my early years.I would not even dare suggest to somebody like Grace Wong to invest in horse racing when she has not played previously.Members like Daniel Chan,Tim Liu(on soccer if not horse racing) who are still playing I wish to save or turn into profits by doing it my way.I have reached the Guru stage in horse racing(only 1st dan blackbelt compared to my SIFU at 5th dan) compared even to the publications in the market I am more than holding my own in comparison.

Relationships and matters of the heart are more raw and dicey matters and require sensitive handling.I have been slow on my responses partly due to being tied up at work and various new projects on the horizon.I have to be extra careful when offering advice least I step on people’s toes based on advice I have given . However I have no remorse when I deal with unwarranted sniper fire based on emotion ,sweeping statements on plain name calling or just plain biasness on the premise “who am I to give advice” .

I have achieved respect even from Daniel Chan on horse racing and will probably match the statistics in EPL soccer to emulate those in horse racing.Without reference to facts on my specific comments I will return a pebble with a rock ,a sniper shot with RPG fire.I may not even agree with you but if u are specific and can justify your statements I can still respect your opinion.Life is not just black (wrong)and white(RIGHT) but DIFFERENT SHADES OF GREY..One day(hopefully not sooner) I will take a wrong turn one day and get justifiable brickbrats thrown in my direction and it comes with the territory. The way TCB shot me down on EPL soccer with zero returns on the 1st weekend is an example..Tim shooting me down when I was tipping low priced favourites in my earlier posts on horse racing was also justified…I hope I am giving him confidence that I can get the job done in this field.I have the confidence that in the long run I will give more correct advice than wrong ones thus doing more good than harm to SHC members especially in the relationship advisor post column. However in the process I would be a better person and would be more than willing to learn.I do hope my fellow SHC members will take this spirit of learning and benchmarking(you dont have to agree with every advice given by me or other members but if you take some parts it is an improvement) and take a more enlightened perspective after reviewing all the postings in the forum. In this way we can better participants in the SHC community and the community at large.

Was I the Ist respondent to Ronald’s posting? Going now to agree to disagree with buddy Daniel to thrash it out on the chessboard and support Danz Chess gathering in AMK.Hmm gonna call Tim if I can get him to join the fun.!We do make strange bedfellows…the art of arguiing without taking it personally.Daniel Chan will probably be right that my score will probably be the worst among us.!Have a good day.Kudos to Ronald…you just made my day…with your support I feel encouraged to continue my pearls of babble(must cut down the chaff and lengthy ripostes though and take advice from Terence, Daniel,Danz, and Tim among others)

  3. Hallo Patrick. Hallo Ron. Hallo Joy. I don’t have much time to log in, but this being the first Sunday that I’ve a few minutes to relax, I thought I visit SHC for the latest. Yes, Joy (what a nice joyful name!), I enoyed Ron’s article.
Patrick, I also hope to meet you one day.
Meanwhile I’m busy househunting; school reopens tomorrow. Tennis & golf will have to wait…..Patrick, Keep up the good work. Cheers.

  4. Hi Ronald
Thanks for rollerblading with Kathryn and myself yesterday. It was my first experience skating to CV. While almost reaching there (about 3-4km away from CV?), my body was feeling extremely fatique from the ups and downs terrains that we went through (not to mention the few falls) and my tired legs had finally decided to gave up on me while we are at Changi Beach. I could not go any further, eventually Kat and myself had to part at this point!

Its an exciting adventure though and I have gained much experience. Thanks to you and especially Kathryn for skating and guiding me throughout the journey.

Have met the friendly cycling group too.

For now, at home nursing my muscles aches….

  5. Hi Ronald,

Thanks for your Sunday Morning Reflection, glad that you have found your friends and the activities that interest you.

Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.”

Live life fully while you can. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird.

    Well done, Ronald!
