  1. Hi Dan,

    The Bintan trip looks interesting.
Will let you know later if i can join as Nov is also
the month to tour Chiang Mai.

Is the Nov 8/9 firm? Will this date coincide with the year-
end monsoon, making the sea rough and dampen the Bintan
island actiities. Would Oct be a bettert time?

Also sorry to hear you have to cancel the Desaru trip.

    james

  2. Dan,
Go to Edit your post and keep scrolling, you will find Heading showing Add New Category, from there, you will click on the relevant category that you want your post in lor, undestand bo?

  3. Hi June,

Are you coming for the Bintan trip?

Norhayati and Gwyneth, thank for the response.

Eyonne Chew, Ron Koh and Ros Chan, since the Desaru trip is cancelled. are you coming?

A little bit of information. Ocean Bay Resort kelong is not the normal out in the middle of nowhere. The kelong are connected to the beach. So there is no fear of the monsoon weather. There will be plenty of fishing. Check the link if you want to find more.

At S$155, it is more than worth it. The taxes and land transport and ferries add up to S$55. One night chalet stay may cost about $50. Then we have three meals included.

The target is 20 pax, but if we have 10 pax, we will still go for it! Come on all fishing enthusiates, let’s enjoy and stretch ourselves by the beach!

  7. Hi June,

Don’t think I can join as in November would be up, up on the mountain with cool air.

  8. Hello June and Dan

It was nice knowing both of you at cycling yesterday. I’ve heard of this place and I think it’s near the Trikora Beach which I’ve mentioned.

I too will be going to Chiang Mai in Nov which is the following week otherwise I would love to join the trip. James is right about the monsoon period but I had though it should start in Oct already. The weather is crazy these days anyway.

Seriously, if you can gather enough interest and bring the date perhaps to early October, it would be good. Anyone who loves the sand, sea and rustic living should love the place.

Whatever the case, I think you should not give up on this place.

  9. oops… sori
had thought you were Joy cause you had provided the website for ocean bay bintan.
No offence meant…… and so it should have been nice meeting Dan and Joy.

  10. Dear folks.

Due to insufficient responses, the Bintan trip is cancelled. We want to thank those who have signed up for your support.

Could it be the moonsoon season that discourage all of you? I am still tempted to organise more trip, but have to be next year.

Anyone keen on Tioman, Renang, Langkawi or Cruise?

    Dan n Joy

  11. Dan:

I have been in contact with a few kakis. The problem most of us face is with the closing date. It is a bit too early for some of us to be able to confirm our participation, and most of us would rather not want to be included in the trip only to have to pull out later.

    Just our two cents,

    Ron Koh

  12. Hi Ron Koh,

Understand your predicament! Not to worry, small group may be better. Closing date can be adjusted, I just need the figure to work on.

The other available dates is 29/30 November 2008!

    Dan

  13. Dan #23:

the original date is 90% okay for me – just some niggling, unrelated issues which need to be addressed as these can affect my participation.

29/30 Nov 2008 not possible as I have a teaching commitment.

I have to leave it to the rest of the regular kakis to reply on their own

    Cheers,

    Ron Koh

  14. Hi Dan,

Oh dear! I’m sorry another trip kena cancel due to poor response. Anyway, hopefully the next one you organise will get more responses.

    Regards

    Norhayati

  15. Hi Dan

I think you meant Redang instead of Renang? There’s also Rawa Island which is 45mins from Mersing and Sibu Island. I’ve not been to any of these islands but would love to do them. Hopefully though, my work schedule permits on the dates you have chosen.

    Daisy

  16. Hi Daisy,

Yes, it Redang and let’s wait till the monsoon period is over. During these time a lot of our member may have already made plan to travel.

We will target next year 2009 in March for further travelling to our neighbouring countries.

Noted your interest and let hope more will indicate their desire to join in the sun, sand and fun

    Dan
