  11. James @ #2, the singers are the best of 7th moon nite clubs performers……all ang pais (blue label as in johnny walker) so even if you dont know what the hell they’re singing, feasting yr eyes as they kick high & crazy like the crazy horses is sure value for money.

    If you come with kids, parental guidance is advised, meaning if yr son is interested in a pretty after seeing her so sexy, dont let him call her aunty or that she looks like mummy………….

  126. Update on Stars-in-Concert, Jan 11, 2009.

    Despite hiccups and time pressures, the organisers have been putting their heart and soul into making this event an enjoyable one. The singers and performers have been practising their items and will have their audition this month. It has been tough, tougher than I thought, and I like to encourage all team members and performers to enjoy the efforts put in.

    Meantime, SHCians, plse check your diary, see if you can join this monthly gathering, and book your seats with Janet Heng.

    Audience participation is for SHC members only. However, you can bring your family members and friends and enjoy the performance from the auditorium. Give them a chance to see what you and other SilverHairsClub members have been doing in the club.

    You missed the event last night, we had a fantastic reheasal for Stars-in-Concert. Please mark me as paid, so I can pay myself the $16.

    Some interesting comments were received last night about the auditorium. Since this is a 200 seater auditorium, for best view, it is better to sit at the back rows, than the front rows.

    The slightly modified time schedule shall be put up very soon.

  146. We shall start 2009, with the monthly gathering held at Serangoon Garden Country Club, in conjunction with SHC’s own singing performance. The date is Sun 11 Jan 2009.

    The monthly gathering, which is an ideal opportunity for you to get to know other members, will commence at 6pm at the Heliconia Room. During this time, refreshments – Spring Rolls, Mee Siam Goreng, Crispy Fried Chicken Wings, Vegetarian Samosas, Coffee, Tea and Orange Squash will be made available. Please obtain your tickets from Janet Heng asap. Currently, 102 pax have booked their seats for the monthly gathering and Stars-in-Concert. The max seating capacity is 199 pax. You may bring your family and friends to the concert. Tickets are available at $16 per person. The seating plan can be viewed at http://silverhairsclub.com/SHC/AuditoriumSeatingPlan.pdf.

    After the refreshments, we will proceed to the auditorium where we will watch SHC’s own performance “Stars-in-Concert”. There will be a short intermission during the performance. The evening will end at about 9.30 pm.

    Choreographing the concert proper is Lily Ho. Compering the show in both languages will be Catherine Yeo and Thomas Loh. Leading the ticket registration and urshering is Janet Heng, and stage decor by Karen Thio. Molly Chua manages the venue and F&B, while Ronald Lee is the music manager, cordinating the audio in the auditorium. At the Heliconia Room, while waiting for the performance to start, Susan Chan will be engaging you and helping you break the ice to get to know one another.

  164. We’re barely 3 weeks away from the Concert Nite and, perhaps hit by this recession, ticket sales have slowed to a trickle with abt 35% seats unreserved/unpaid. Hopefully, things will pick up as we make the home run.

    On the brighter side, I can see that there’s good support from the families of Janet and Boon Liang. Many performers hv invited their friends and well-wishers to make the occasion memorable. Well done folks.

    What I dont like is to se Jeffrey Lim who spends half his time in Bangkok sitting so folornly by himself @ B2. Come, Jeff, do sit above me at D4 unless you see 4 as smthg less than auspicious.

    Btw, altho we’re bound by a code of secrecy not to divulge anythg on the show, I just cant help it but let garfield out of the bag.

    If you are content with listening to mandarin songs, canto pops and hokien jingles, come experience smthg very different. Someone will serenade you with the soo kee nans’ own version of sukiyaki……..what else but “Sudibomati” with back-up dancing soot lai soot ki somemore. This specially choreographed item alone is worth its weight in gold.

    While I am in full support of this SIC – fulfilling my pledge to Sengh when he first mooted the idea of a concert early last year and for my support – I am not making a sales pitch in my earlier postings tho I am quite sure the evening to come will turn out to be memorable for many reasons.

    It will not parade an array of stars and certainly there wont be any soo kee nan sukiyaki which was written in jest. But one thing we can promise you is, we will sweat to do our best & utmost to entertain, and seek your understanding if we still come up short.

    Looking ahead (with some trepidation), it’s gonna be a very hard year – not helped by the maddening carpet-like bombing of hamas thus heightening tension and fear amidst a painful recession – and that’s when the objectives and true spirit of SHC will be tested.

    I wish all well, good health and as much as we can, stay together to weather thru’ them all.
