  1. Hi Dan,

    Wish to make a correction,
“Backgammon – Constance (wants to learn)”
I used to play “Backgammon” way back in my
early years and it will be good to play again with
    someone who knows the game.
Can also share knowledge of game with anyone who’s
    interested.
I’ve managed to salvage the set from the store room,
    still in prety good condition.
Anyone game for a set ?

    Cheers,
    Constance

  2. Hi Dan

Can I join in from 2 to 3.30pm. Is one and a half hour enough to learn tarot? I will start with tarot first and slowly progress to others in the next coming weeks.

    Stella

  3. Hi Dan / Stella
Just noticed that Stella mentioned she wants to learn Tarot in a comment.
I’m not sure that I’ll be able to be able to make it as Sundays is family time.

  4. Hi Dan,

Would love to join you, but your event clash with our outing to Singapore Flyer. Any chance of rescheduling? OR perhaps have a second one. Hope you do not clash with other SHC events.

I would love to learn Tarot & Bridge. Scrabble is another of my hot favourite. Would like to challenge Joy & Mary to a game of Scrabble, i used to be very good at this game, whilst in school. But now, a little out of touch, so will not win anymore, lah!

    Regards, Lydia.

  5. Hi Sarah,

Let’s hope more can join in the Scrabble, otherwise you can choose other games.

Ah Nee, date changed to this Sunday 2, 2008, can still come?

Constance, sorry my mistake. Good that you are willing to share your knowledge of Backgammon!

Andrew Thio, noted that you are not able to come. Perhaps next round we will have it on a Saturday afternoon if more are in favour.

Stella, Melissa, you may want to start with Chor Tai Tee or Scrabble or Backgammon!

Lydia, let’s hope for more response to Tarot and Bridge or Scrabble.

Joy and Mary Chan, Tim Liu and Sarah looks out for Lydia, she is issuing a challenge for Scrabble!

Those of you keen to learn Chor Tai Tee or Mahjong(Card form), this is your opportunity.

    Dan

  6. Hi Danz

Regret I’m unable to make it for this coming session on Sunday, but hope future board games sessions will be held on Sunday afternoons at Tangerine cafe. Am keeping my fingers crossed.

    Regards,

  7. Indian chess – Tim Liu (wow, what a mind blowing image !) Is it a joke or is there really a games called indian chess? pardon my ignorance.

Eh Tim, you coming with a feather on your head and war paint on yr face??

By the way, I do play scrabble too.

Hey Sarah #1 – what u mean by “learn any other games that fit my size”. I didn’t know we playing games that fit sizes leh..hehe

  8. Hi Jassmine,

Perhaps another time you may join us. Whether it Saturday or Sunday, let’s wait to hear from the majority!

    Roger, glad you can come!

    Dan

  9. Maggie, it isnt a joke. I last played at Tekka with my butties after work while celebrating Dig-a-valley with them.

The game is easy to play but the accompanying movements may be a bit challenging. After moving the chess on his chest, you push yr head forward & backward 3 times in quick succession……….that needs practice.

So start working on yr neck movement first and when you’re almost there, get L-bird to lie flat on his back, bare chested and you call me. Then, I’ll teach you…..and when you’re really good, we go Tekka to play the real Indee thingy which can be a little tougher as they have chest hair making moves more difficult than moving on feathers…….. .

  10. Good morning Danz,

Date changed to this Sunday, 2 Nov 2008, also cannot join you all. I will be away from tomorrow to 5 Nov 08. You guys & gals enjoy. :)

    Ah Nee

  11. Hi Stella,

You are on for Mahjong(Card Type)! Anyone else keen for Mahjong or coaching on Mahjong?

Mary Chan, we will missed you, enjoy yourselves on the 3 in 1!

    Dan

  12. We got a good attendance at the last Board game Cafe at Kovan CC.

Roger and Celia were taught to play CTT by Patrick Khoo and Maggie Teo. Sarah also got to learn CTT but stil find it hard to remember all the rules.

Paul, Peggy, Celia and Dan got to play the Card Mahjong. It was fun trying to fiddle with the cards. Roland Tong and Dan played four rounds of Chess. Albert and Betty are also very proficient with CTT.

Next Board Game Cafe will resumes on the first Saturday of January 2009. We may change venue to SMU if it suit our purpose. Han’s at Great Eastern is another possible venue.

If the responses continue to be good, Board Games will be a regular fixture. Walk and Cycling are outdoor activities occuring on the 2nd and 3rd Saturday of the month. Board Game will be fix for the 1st week. The 4th Saturday will be reserved for Dance Practice by Maggie Ho!

Dear fellow SHCians, you are spoilt for choices whether outdoor or indoor in the area of occupying your pastimes in your twilight years. Plenty of opportunity to meet and mingle and make new and lasting friendship. Silverhairs Club is the happening place!

Supporters: Patrick Khoo, Maggie Teo, Albert Tan, Betty Lim n Dan

  13. Hi Dan,

Would it be possible to have some board games during the SHC meetings as well? I can bring along my scrabble set, if there’s anyone keen on playing scrabble on 18th Nov.

Any takers? Joy & Mary, keen?

    Lydia.

  14. Hi Stella,

Sorry I was late on that day and you having to miss all the fun!

Lydia, I think it okay provided you have other keen to join you and you will not be distracted by the ongoing program!

During last month gathering I did managed to play CTT and coach at the same time. I wil bring my Chess set as always and a pack of card.

    Dan
