Jane Loh – Profile

I am Jane Loh who had just joined the SHC in Oct ’08. I retired recently from teaching. At present I do relief teaching as and when I’m asked or free to do so. I am interested to make friends and participate in activities whenever possible. I like to read, cook, sew, travel (needs a room-mate at most times) and play majong (small stake – 5 doubles $3.20/$6.40) whenever I can. I can host the majong sessions if there are interested players.

I first attended the monthly meeting on 18 Nov. I saw there was a good attendance and I even met two of my friends whom I’ve not seen for a long time. I observe that many members are friendly and able to interact well. I enjoyed the kebaya fashion show thanks to whoever had organized it. I must also thank the founder of the club for creating a golden opportunity for people to befriend one another. I hope to make as many new friends and enjoy life to the fullest now that I’ve retired.

Feel free to contact me at email address: janlo8@gmail.com

Hope to hear from some of you. Best wishes to one and all.

Jane

  1. Hello Jane,

    Warm welcome to SHC!
Glad to make your acquaintance on 18 Nov.
as I shared the same table with you.
We do have similar hobbies like reading and
cooking – maybe one day we shall try out
some pot-luck session in the future with
    other like-minded food lovers. :)
As for MJ, hope to join you (if timing is suitable).
I must admit first though, I maybe very slow as I
    have not played for decades!

  7. Hi Jane

Welcome to the club. I too have difficulty finding room mate traveller. Perhaps we can travel together sometimes or join my singles travel club which a few of are trying to put together.

  8. Hello all SHCs still in Chiangmai,

Do not give up hope of finding a way home soon.

Suggestion only: can you get air tickets via Vietnam- singapore?
It costs more but this maybe a way – homeward bound.

Take care and it is crucial to keep each other singing and joking.

  9. Hi Jane,

Thanks to you and Patrick for having the chance to have a game of MJ the last holiday at your home. It was a great to have 2 tables of people playing in a cosy environment, hearing talks and jokes from 2 tables.

Thanks also for preparing the home cooked curry and bee hoon which was great. I am sure you can still be a great chef in a Nyonya restaurant dishing 20 dishes for 200 people in a day.

Welcome to SHC and enjoy more of our activites as we the Eastern Zoners now have another welcome retreat for MJ at your place.

    Cheers

  10. Hi Jane Loh..
    Welcome to the club!

  11. Hi Jane
Had a good conversation with you over the phone today. Though I have yet to meet you personally I feel you are a nice, pleasant and understanding lady. As both of us were in the same profession there is much common ground to begin with and what’s more both of us are Teochews, naturally we chatted like old friends. Really looking forward to meeting you and have a MJ session at your place soon.

By the way, those who are interested in the game have responded to my post but how am I to arrange when tel nos are not given.(Only 2 gave). It’s not possible to organise a session through e-mails. I know some are not comfortable giving out private contact nos, that’s why I suggested you give me through my e-mail.
I hope to compile a list of SHCians kakis with your help so that we can arrange for sessions more easily. I’m sure you have some contacts since many have played at your place.

The list can be categorised into different groups such as small and bigger stakes players, when they are available eg, weekends or weekdays and those who are able to host.

Till then, have a nice and great weekend.

    Cheers
    Roy Koh

  12. Hi Jane,

Welcome onboard. Have I met you and if no, hope to meet you soon.

MJ, yes, can include me in but as mentioned in the earlier post put up by someone, can it by Roy Koh? I would prefer a friendly game of 5 to 6 hrs. Ops! Monday, I played at someone place with Shirley Wee and 2 others (I do not know whether they are SHCians) for 11 hrs. Luckily stake of 30 60, limit to 5 ‘tai’, I lost $1 for a 11 hrs game.

Here is my email susantan06@yahoo.com if you wan someone who is not prof in MJ, just pass time only.

  13. Wow ! so many mahjong kaki. How wonderful ! Can you include
a new recruit to SHC just this Jan. as another kaki.
MJ excites our brain to be active and time passed quickly.
    Healthy interaction !
