Singapore F1 Cycling Event On Sun, 22 Feb 09

Hi Guys

U had experienced F1 Car Racing last Sep. Now comes F1 Cycling sponsored by OCBC n organised by Spectrum Worldwide, a 1st of its kind event in Spore which will be held on Sun, 22 Feb 09.  9 of us crazy cyclists had since signed up for this event.  We look forward to see U participating. Perhaps we can form a contingent of 88 or 101 members to represent SHC.

  1. How abt a contingent of 33? Any 32 out there wanna join the crazy 9? Those who go for the monthly cycling…wanna go? …think the 20 km should be doable..? Shall we get silver hair wigs to put on? :-)) Fun right? :-)

Btw, if don’t own bike then how? :-)

  2. Hi All

Just checked wif Spectrum, the Event Organiser, they confirmed that rented bikes bundled wif helmets will be made available to those who don’t own bikes. They are still working on the details after which it will be put up on the webpage once finalised.

    Hi June

Your suggestion of silver hair wig is excellent. We shall meet in early Feb 09, buy the material n make the wigs 2gether.

  3. Hi Yew Kwong,
I am keen to be part of the SHC contingent but I was just wondering how to get my bike to the starting point. I sure can’t cycle all the way to the F1 Pit from Bedok and then cycle to the East (ie the 20km route) and then back again to the finishing point at F1 Pit. WOW. My poor back and butt. Any shortcut?? Maybe I will just wait along the way and join in, hehe.

  4. Hi Amy

U hv 2 options, one of which is yours. The other is 2 rent their bike. If U are meeting us along the way, I m unsure at which point or we may just miss U. We will discuss in details when we meet up to try out the route in late Dec.

  5. Hi June,
I am not sure if you really want to have a wig under your helmet in our weather. Perhaps you are not as ‘hot-headed’ as I (Haha). I perspire profusely and even more under the helmet.

  6. Huh, mus wear helmet?…so ugly!!!Then got to forgo the wig!!! Aiyah!

If we get 33, and to make ourselves outstanding, guess we “deck” our helmets, or wear huge sunglasses with silver frames…do something lah…to show we are one and same team…:-))))
Any creative ideas out there? Karen Thio any suggestions?

But hor, can we gather 33? I can think of the 3rd Sat week cyclists…Dolly, Lily, Jade, Nor, AhNee, SusanChang, CarolineGee, Ronald Wie, Lina…thats 9 already. I dont know who else goes to the 3rd Sat cycling sessions. Then theres founder Terence, Danz w Joy….thats another 3. So 12 already, plus dear JuneLim, that’s lucky 13!!!. And there’s Sockie. Also Daisy Yeo…15 already!!…And if each bring along another member, we have 30 already!!!! oh ya, dear Tim too.

But let’s confirm whn those in ChiangMai return. Wonder if they are still hving fun or getting bored..:-(

    Dear YewKwong
Pls let us know once u hear abt the rented bikes. No rented bikes, no show..:-)))

  7. “…..oh ya, dear Tim too…….” June-L, nice that, once in a while, you still remember me before you sleep and all the while when we were young & wild needing no sleep…….

Over the last months, I have lost all my passions, cycling included. Why? Sadly, bcos my predictions may come true.

I saw in my crystal ball in a March exchange with KT, that the US will slump into not a mere recession but what looked like a depression.

While Oi Cheng was kindly giving her weather report, btwn Chris’ balls, I saw an earthquake hitting Mae Hong Son. It turned out to be somewhere further south, with feet marching and quaking the earth.

The Chinese call times like these “duo shi zi chew” (bad pinyin, literally translated as “eventful sutumn”). The grapes of wrath are fermenting. Some people are angry at wall street’s creating mere numbers to buy, sell & profit when back in their shanty homes, their sisters, mothers are whores in streets.

Mujahiddins, freedom fighters, gourd’s liberation army……whatever but ultimately they believe they’re pre-ordained by a divine decree to serve out justice that the deemed carnal courts can never mete out, nvm the senseless killings, being their means to the end………

  8. Sure sounds fun! Will we register as recreational cyclists or will it be an endurance test for most of us? Will definitely need practice for the later.

June, the silver hair wigs are a great idea! Fix the silver material on a band which we can tie round our foreheads. That way we can still have our helmets on.

Will need a rented bike too.

  9. Ah June ah, if I join the cycling team hor… I will be the only one pushing my bicycle instead of riding on it hahahahahahaha….. Dolly was with me on the last cycling outing and she can vouch to that…..have not cycled for more than 20 years and still very wobbly… and cannot ‘sa’ corner yet and aslo afraid to jatoh di longkang lei

Maybe I’ll just walk around with my camera to take pictures…safer for me and the rest of the participants kekekekek

    Sockie

  10. Hi Cyclists

The Organiser had confirmed that rented bicycles will be made available for those without bikes or prefer to rent.

Details will be available once arrangements are confirmed.

  11. Wah, this cycling event not cheap.:-))
Take the 20 km ride..registration costs $43 per pax if sign up by today, $63 if sign up frm tom onwards. And if you rent a bike, that will cost another $19!!!
Better to cycle at East Coast man!!
Times are hard, better stretch that dollar…:-)))
