Sandirasekaran – Profile

Hi to all,

I am Sandirasekaran, may call me Sekaran. I came for my 1st SHC gathering on 15 Oct at Kovan. Could not meet up with all of you much but manage to speak to Terence Seah and 3 other members. Was not able to make it for the gathering in Nov as I was on Overseas Leave. Will make up for it by coming for the next gathering on 17 Dec.

About myself, I am 55 yrs old retiree from the SAF. I left SAF after 27 yrs of service on an early retirement at the age of 46. Got a 2nd career job thru SAF with MCYS. Presently working at S’pore Boys Home as a Senior Rehab Officer looking after juveniles.

As for my family, married with 3 children aged 24 – F, 18- F and 15- M yrs old. My wife Dhevi is 48 yrs old and I would be getting her into the club soon as a member too.

Health wise, I am fit and am trying to keep myself fit by jogging at least twice a week.  At workplace, I move alot with the boys but not catch up with their strenght and fitness .

My aim now is to meet up and get to know as much as possible all SHC members. Also looking forward to travel a many places as possible.

Finally, I would to thank and salute Mr Terence Seah and all others who have made SHC lively for the retirees.

  1. Hi Sekaran,

Welcome to the Club! We certainly hope that you get to join us in the various activities planned monthly. Whether it walking, cycling or dancing we are sure you will feel at home here.

Where have you travelled to and where will be the places of interest you have in mind. I am sure there will be many here who shared the same interest as you.

Will you be joining us on December 17th. for our monthly gatherings at Han’s?

    Dan

  2. Hi Sekaran,

From your profile, I am surprised you have retired this early at 55. Still there is life after retirement. So come along, I encourage you to help organise some keep fit and healthy events for our fellow SHCians. You come from SAF. Tell us what you do inside SAF

    Terence Seah

  3. Hi Terence,

    Thanks for your encouragements

Although I retired from the SAF at the age of 46 – 1999 ( early retirement, I took on a scheme at that time for those who wanted to have a taste of civilian life. SAF offered me to be an Operation Manager ( OM ) in Schools or to be a Rehab Officer at Singapore Boys Home – MCYS. I choose to be a Rehab Officer and have been in this job for the past 9 years. I am happy and getting well with the boys and hope to continue till 62 or more. Being in Boys Homes, I am on 3 shift duties (8am to 3pm, 2pm to 9pm and 6.30pm to 8.30am. Will get a weekly Day Off once a week and it could be any day.
As for my 27 years of service in SAF, I am lucky that I did not go to various units in the SAF. Instead, I only served in 2 unit(HQ Signals and 2nd Signal Bn). When I retired, I was holding the rank of 1st Warrant Officer with the appointment of Formation Signal Logistic Officer. Been to Australia twice and Taiwan four times on trgs

Will be happy to serve to my best of abilty to our fellow SHCians. Please just give me some time to meet up and get to know our fellow SHCians.

    Hi Dan,

Will be glad to meet up with you on 17th Dec. Being 55 yrs old already, my next objective in life is to travel as much as I can before its too late. I have been to Australia, Taiwan, UK, Bali, Thailand, Malaysia and India.

Would like to travel to Tibet, Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, New Zealand and others if time and age permits. And of course if there are other countries SHCians going, I will go to.

  5. Hi Sekaran, Welcome on board the SHC Noah’s ark where no one has been refused entry as long as they meet the criteria.

Which part of S’pore do you stay? Some SHCians make a point for those in the East or West to meet up regularly for cycling, outdoor sports etc., so do look out on the SHC website on some of these activities. Hope to meet up with you and wife at one of the SHC activities. Kind regards, Lisa

  6. Thanks Lisa Ong. I am staying in the EAST – UBI. As long as I am on Off Duty and free, I will try to join the SHCians activities especially cycling and jogging. Thats the only two activities I have an interest in for the moment. Will definately bring along my wife once she signs up and becomes a SHCians too. Rgds

  7. Well Sekaran, You’re very near to where I work which is Kaki Bukit Ave 1 (just diagonally across the Automobile Megamart). Hope to meet you and wife in one of the cycling in East Coast but lately my knees have been getting cranky, so will have to take more Glucosamine first before I can get my stiff knees to work those wheels. Look forward to seeing you at one of the SHC activities then. Lisa

  8. Hi Lisa Ong,

Yes I am very close to your work place. Myself and wife are also on glucosamine for knee pains but manageable. I will be coming for the SHC gathering on 17th Dec. Hope to see you there or in any other SHC activities. Would apprecaite if you could come forward as I would need to go around looking or asking for you b4 getting you. It would be easier for u to get me….. right. Bye then.

  9. Helo Sekaran

    Welcome to our club!..
nice knowing that we hv almost same interest like cycling,jogging..but now cant jog too much…rather do briskwalk cos some ppl say its better at our tender age, rite?

I also love travelling..but i prefer to do at our own pace..thats why i dont like to join tours by travel agent..so rush dont u think?
In SHC..its specially tailored & organise by members..its very interesting, we can chat & laugh sharing our thoughts…hhmm

I also stayed in the east..we are nebors!Hope to see u & wife sometime in our activities

  10. Hi Nor,

Thanks. We are in the same boat but we can always strife for the best and join the activities which suits us best in SHC. Myself and my wife love to travel too but usually due to office leave problem, we cannot go along together for tours. Thus, we have missed much in travelling together. Hope that whoever organise tours would able to give us advance notice of at least 1 month so that we can get our leave approved b4 saying ” Yes ! We are in”. Hope to see you on 17 Dec. Byeeeeeeee

  11. Hi Sekaran

Don worry, organisers always gave us ample plenty time to plan& suit our busy schedule..e.g Terence gave us 1 yr notice for our recent camping trip to MaeHongSon & Chiangmai!..can u believe that? hehe

Ok..if we don meet on 17Dec, we’ll definately meet up at some other time..hopefully in cycling event which always falls on every 3rd saturday of the month.
    Keep smiling!

  12. Hi Nor,

Thanks for the infos. Hope to catch up with all events as far as possible. Only problem is that I am on shift duties and would even be called up for duty on off days. Cheers………
