  1. it looks a good deal. No promise but will join you all if I dont need to humour my mares and fillies. Btw, insofar as the cloth arapping feet is concerned, the gals will hv more choices………..in fact if they choose wisely, they dont even need to wear pants/jeans. Yes and of cos, I refer to stockings……………..

Sengh, forget it, you dont qualify, not for want of the correct gender but that stubble disqualifies you.

  2. Hi Susan,

I will need to check with the other EOs regarding the change in timings, also want to hear from the rest of the bowlers.

Our regular badminton session is from 11.00-1.00pm. The timing may be a bit too close. Last weekend I have dancing and badminton and some mountain climbing and I slept for 3 hours on a Sunday afternoon from 4.00-7.00pm. I really think that age is getting up, and now we have bowling to contend with!

Tim, do what you have to do and come join us lah!

    Dan

  3. Hi Dan,

Thanks for the posting. Thought you were too busy with dancing. I’m very keen and will join the A group, though have not been Bowling for a few months. I’m flexible with the time on a Sunday. Cheers.

  4. Hi Lawrence,

This will be a regular Sunday afternoon affair, see you the following Sunday.

Alice, I know this is what you are waiting for. Thot you have a game last Thursday at Marine Bowl. Could be the response was not good?

I am slowing down on dancing, use to have 3 hours on a Friday evening. With Dolly and Lina Ng around to organise impromptu jam, I can now relax a bit!

I actually have in mind to organise regular dance session on a Saturday evening at Mambo Dance Zone but have to put it on hold. Maybe Lina Ng, Ah Nee or Suzchang can spearhead it?

    Dan

  5. Hi Dan

Thanks for organising. I would like to join in the B group. I have not even hold a bowling ball at all so I need all the coaching you can offer.

  6. Hi Dan,

For a start, you can group me under Category B, cos’ I’m pretty erratic in my back-up throws. Will it be alright that I join you guys on certain Sundays, as I’m unable to commit on every weekend?

Thanks for bringing back this challenging game.

    Cheerio!

  7. Hi Dan,

In that case, if you can reschedule from 2p onwards, I shall join Group B. If not, still very keen to pick up this activity, can I go off at 4p.

For sure, I need coaching. The last time I played was in 2007.

    Thank you EOs for organising.

    rgds
    susan tan

  8. Hi KingSeng Lee,

You are most welcome to join us, bowling is a more relax form of game, it do not require a lot of strength. What’s important is to learn the correct technigue.

Sue Chan, come whenever you can. With some coaching I am sure you will bowl well!

    Dan

  9. “…..I’m pretty….” that, many – guys & gals – will readily agree but why went on to tempt the guys with “……. erratic in my back-up……..”?

Btw, being erractic does give you style & pattern, and thus differentiate one from other run-of-the-mill products so continue to be erractic, back it up higher and then……………many words that start with “er-” will come about.

If you think I had in mind erection, erotica, erogenous, heeee, all wrong lah. It’s eerie that is spelt wrongly……….

  10. Hi Dolly,

Maybe we missed it out. But, Richard Yee is not a member. I have asked Dan to request Richard Yee to contact admin for membership.

    Terence Seah

  11. Hi Dan

Can you put me in as one of the “long kang’ player ;0)

I have a dinner appointment on 22 March so may have to give the first session a miss though…..will see if I can squeeze this in before scooting off for dinner

    Thanks

  12. Hi Dan,

Thanks for organizing….I have yet to know whether I like ‘long-kang’ or an earthquake just happen to past by thus causing all the pins to fall…so, to play safe, please include me in as Group ‘B’, heh….thanks alot….c you all there….

    Regards,

    Anne Chua

  13. Hi Susan Tan,

Tentatively the timing will be from 3.00-5.00pm. You may go off at 4.00pm which leave you just an hour to bowl.

Hi Sock Cheng and Anne Chua, just turn up on that day and we will see whether there be earthquakes or tremblings that caused the pins to fall!

    Dan

  14. Hi Jothi,

Welcome to the club! Richard Yee has volunteered to coach all newbies and I will try to assist.

Yoon Chin, it’s been many moon since we last bowl. Seldom see you in all the other activities, yes we shall bowl again after I got all my priority right.

    Dan

  15. Hi Dan,

I would like to join this bowling long ago. Last Thursday, I joined Alice for the game. Pls put me in group B. Need coaching. However, I can only join you guys on certain Sun If I am not roster to work. 22/3 is definite on.

    Tks.

  16. Hi Boon Liang,

Glad you can join us, yes it been a while since we last bowl. This time round with two able assistants we can make it a success.

Kristen, see you around and let conquer the ‘longkangs’

Just for your information, I have got Richard Yee and Ronald Lee to book 4 lanes. The timing may stretched from 3.00-6.00pm if the response is forthcoming!

Has anyone wondered why Joy was place in Group C? We have an ‘endangered species’ who may caused an uproar here. Who else want to be in this group? I noted a peculiarity here, when Joy was trying to throw the ball, she will try to use the ‘helicoptor’ spin. The problem arise when she let slip the ball and it landed with a bang backward! Please ensure that those coming have sufficient personal insurance coverage!

    Dan

  17. Hi Dan,

As spoken to you this afternoon, looks like you have me out of your mind and not register me.

If you still think I can bowl, pls put me in Group A.

    Thanks,
    Janet Chan

  18. Hey maybe I should join Joy under Group C cuz I did the backwards bowl one too hahahahaha…..lucky no one was bowled down by me ;0)

I had one game I don’t think anyone could beat me…..all the frames I bowled only have 2 digits….either a 3 or 0 and my total score was 30….now try to beat this LOL. Too bad I did not have a hard cop of the score sheet for souvenir

    Sockie

  19. Yes Dan,

I managed to fix those jigsaw pieces here and there and understand why the C came in….first there was this earthquake, having the backward bowl could means Cyclone….haha..

    Regards,

    Anne Chua

  20. HI Dan,

I would like to be included in Group B. I have not bowled for a long time, and must admit that my passion for bowling has died. Perhaps joining u guys might rekindle that passion?

So i see that Richard Yee has volunteered to be the coach? 3 cheers for him !!! We can do with more coaches.

    Cheers, LydiaC.

  21. “….I…….must admit that my passion for……..u guys might rekindle….i see that Richard…has volunteered…….3 cheers for him !!! We can do with more….”

Well, it takesa lot of courage to say so. For me, even in my heydays, I can only do with one.

    Heee……………

  22. Suggestively Dan invites ““If you fancy BIG BALL game……….”

Boldly, one reply asks “I am keen in your….. May I know how long….have you been using it? Is the price negotiable?”

I feel a rush in my adrenalin too so Sengh, you dont have to make your dating club sell dates afterall………

  23. So now we have two person in group C, anymore?

Lydia, look forward to the bowling day. Sure you are in Group B and not Group C?

Yoon Chin, it’s about 7 months old. Price is nett, dun think you can find anything cheaper, it almost the price of a handphone! Someone has already made a reservation and she will have first priority!

    Dan

  24. Group C sounds formidable !!! cyclone crashing balls !!!

I would like to join but cannot commit to join on all Sundays – too taxing. So pls put my name as intermittent atttendee…

    Thanks

  25. Gentle Reminder!

Bowling Session this Sunday from 3.00-6.00pm at CSC Tessensohn. Four lanes are booked, ‘longkang’ and ‘non longkang’ bowlers are welcome.

There will be coaching by Richard Yee for those keen to improve their games.

Bira, Linchuah both of you are in Group B. So far about 20 pax coming, let’s have fun and bowl all the blues away!

    Dan, Richard, Ronald Lee

  26. Hi Dan,

Can I join in the Fun ? I’ve not being bowling for almost a Decade. My average score was around 123

Let’s see how well I can perform this Sunday if there are no last minute Tours or Hourly Booking for my Service.

    Cheers.

  27. Hi Susan Tan,

We look forward to your joining us for the next round.

Patrick Yeo, glad you are coming, if you can manage an average of 123 it certainly give you a headstart over some of us.

    Dan

  28. Ptrick-Y, the dames can do without your Service for 3 hours so decline any booking from them tomorrow. You – all and every vital organ of you – need a rest and some exercise so glad you will be joining us.

A 123 score is very good……….I will have to watch you very closely to hope pick up a few pointers here & there.

(Sigh, typing on my tiny lap-top not helped by my terrible eyesight is a pain so I cant wait to seeing everything big, esp big balls…………..)

  29. Hi LeePat,

Joy been wondering who the Joyce Dan was with. Please dun cause her to lose her joy and try to explain to her.

Yes, the bowling session was a success with about 15 pax turning up. Richard Yee was busy coaching the newbies. Highest score was an 183 by Janet Chan. Most consistent score was Richard himself with an average of 170.

Tim, Maggie,Boon Liang, Alice Seah, Molly Chua, Yoon Chin and Dan were erratic. There say that the ball is round therefore any which way shall the result be, dun be disheartened! Next week the bowling session shall resumed, same place same time.

Ronald Lee our admin guy also bowl well. He is our score editor and we shall expect to hear from him all our average ratings. Sock Kee , King Lee, Kristen, Lydia and Anne Chua show improvements with guidance from Richard. We also welcome Florence, a newcomer to the Club!

    Dan, Richard, Ronald

  30. SORRY JOY AND DAN. The 11 blokes are stupid to fight with a machine in my scenario of tug-of war. I mean they are stupid and abused their privileged. Not otherwise. I put into bracket my moral ( ) of the content.

The other paragraphs that follow are for Geraldine. SORRY, i should have written another post to Geraldine not crammed together to cause misunderstanding. Each of us are different in nature and characteristic. I understand profoundly Joy’s sentiments. Here again I humbly apologise for my ignorance and stupidity to both of you.

    I remain,
    Yours humbly
    Leepat

  31. Alamak my name now got changed to Sock Kee….. yo yo I am just an ordinary sock with an ‘i’ and ‘e’

Though I am a very consistent lokang player, it was a fun afternnon for me and had the chance to make a few more friends but I will have to take some time to put the correct names to the correct faces

The photos are now up in photobucket under the following link

    http://s265.photobucket.com/albums/ii240/sockie_sg/SHC%20Bowling-Mar09/?start=20

Oi Cheng, if you want to post these in SHC website, can you try to save the photo one by one to your pc first by right clicking yr mouse on each photo and choose ‘save pcitue as’ into your folder. If this does not work then I will see how to pass the CD to you later

    Sockie

  32. Thanks much, Danz, Ronald-L and Richard-Y for organising yesterday’s bowling session.

True enough, Richard is a very good bowler and he swooped the lanes like a vulture, accurate and effective with his hits which reminded me of Benson Koh.

Benson’s style was very different. His nonchalance bordering laziness belied the killer in him. In the few games I bowled alongside him, he averaged 190.

We will neverknow btween them, who si the better bowler.

Foolishly, with a 103 score in my first game as bait, I challenged my lo po chai in my second game. After watching how she tilted her backside high in the air, I told myself, aiyah this type of pattern huh, ho kuah bo ho jiat one lah.

As it were, she notched the day’s all games high of 183. I was left gasping with a huge 70 points deficit. Ok, it was not my best day but still, she was good. Damned good.

So she had the last laugh. I baited her but she bedded me.

  33. Hi Pat S J Lee,

Its indeed by sheer coincidence and my pleasure to have met you at the bowling alley yesterday. Should thank Dan Huang, who made it possible for us to meet too, as he’d arrange with me to pick up some books which he had so graciously kept it for my daughter.

Pat, you’re indeed a good conversationalist and must add that your presence at any SHC events would undoubtedly liven up the ambience. Do make your presence at our monthly gatherings henceforth, and don’t forget that cheerful look of yours that makes a dish a Feast!

Stay young & vibrant, enjoy good health and wealth!

    Cheerio!

  34. “My wife……….has not handled a bowling ball since we got married”.

First, a warm welcome to you, Abd-HK. Next, on your comments.

Well, you know, I know and we all know the reason and it makes us husbands proud of ourselves. And I can see that you’re very trusting to arrange for her choices and so it re-affirms the truism that we men are always very nice to our women……….

  35. Hi Leepat,

Dun worry, just pulling a leg or two! Can see that you luv to meet up with all the lovely people in SHC. Your presence bring cheers to those you newly met in spite of the fact that you are not participating in the activities.

Sockie, my apology for getting your name wrongly spelled. You did a great job in the photo taking, it certainly captured all the essence and fun that we have had.

Thanks to Ronald Lee and Richard Yee, I have decided to resume the bowling session. It was a long day for me, having badminton from 11.00-2.00pm and now bowling from 3.00-6.00pm. Not much time to do the needful, that left for you to guess!

Hi Abdul Hanan Kalil, we welcome both of you to the Club. Your wife will be in Group B, dun worry Richard is there to guide her. If she has not handle a ball since your big day, do you think it better she be in Group C? haha.

    Dan

  36. Thanks for the understanding, Dan and Joy.
SusanC, you lifted me up because of my fly-weight. And you make my day.( As Clint Eastwood said in his movie: The good the bad and the ugly). Even with my composure, I feel good as a human, hence all of us feel good with positive ion infused into our system. A sweet word, a gentle hug, a capitivating smile, when it comes from the heart, its infectious synergy lightens people and without fail, the world will be energised too. If each of us can just utter
even a sweet nothing and smile, humankind will not suffer the consequences of hatred and unforgiveness. SusanC, you deserve the respect of others. A bubbling personality. Quite a rare species in the modern world of unkempt human
    understanding and relationship.

    LeePat

  37. wow… i certainly had a good time @ the alley yesterday..
my passion for the Big Ball Game was indeed rekindled.. and as Anne & i were leaving the alley.. we could see that Tim was settling his lost bet! And Richard had us rolling with laughter with his one finger bowling.

Keep it up guys.. it’s fun events like these that keeps SHC kicking…..!

  38. Thank you! Tim, for your comment. We have the pleasure in organizing and especially with your supports.

Yes, we can never forget our buddy Benson Koh for what he was and what he has done for us.

Bowlers! My apologies, the price per game is $3.40 instead of what is quoted earlier because it is a Sunday Session. It is still a good rate compared to $4.10 to $4.50 at other places.

Many thanks to those who came yesterday, in support to this bowling session. It is indeed a success just by seeing the every smiling faces during the three hours of game, the SHC spirit – having GREAT FUN TOGETHER.

At one instant, I managed to catch Richard coaching King Seng and he managed a “STRIKE” and guess what I saw on King Seng’s face – Yeah, “the SENSE OF ACHIEVEMENT”

At a later part of the day, Richard demonstrated how he can bowl by using ONLY ONE FINGER (for more illustration take a view at the photos in Sockie’s comment #48). After that, he also demonstrated a rapid game on two lanes and achieving a score of 191.

Finally, below are the top ten scorers of the day (22 March 2009)

Running Order Bowler Name Average Score over # of games

    1 Richard Yee 181 5
    2 Janet Chan 141 4
    3 Yoon Chin 131 2
    4 Molly Chua 129 4
    5 Dan Huang 123 4
    6 Maggie Teo 121 2
    7 Alice Seah 119.3 3
    8 Boon Liang 119 6
    9 Betty Lim 111 2
    10 Tim Liu 108 2

Highest score of the day is from Janet Chan with 183.

So…. Bowlers! set your target and have a come back next week, same place, same time.

    Cheers
    Ronald Lee

  39. Yes, a game @ $3.40 is fair on a Sunday and at an alley as patronised as the CSC with not a single lane went a begging.

Me @ 108 (nice number tho) and propping up the table with so many cha bo sitting over me……..knn, wa mai sng liao !

So folks, you saw his magnificinet finger and think what that finger can do to yr nostrils if you are not so lucky, or some other orifices if you’re lucky.

Heee, some gals are already standing in line. Q up huh? For what huh?

  40. Bowling is back this Sunday at CSC Tessensohn from 3.00pm-6.00pm, four lanes are booked. We appreciate the effort of our coach Richard Yee and Ronald Lee who captured all the scores and the collection of fees for all the games.

As usual Group A for seasoned bowlers and Group B for bowling potential. We are committed to be there for you, therefore we really want to know who are coming this Sunday!

Having bowled 4 four games with an average of 123 points, I was disappointed except that last game of 175 kept me going. I shall be back to prove a point!

Something happened that night, I have completely forgotten to bring my balls home. I only remembered the next day at noon and was fortunate that the balls are waiting for me at the bowling alley.

This reminded me of a story told to me by my cousin, also a SHC member. He said his girlfriend use to give him pens and lighters for his birthdays and he have a habit of losing all the gifts. The girlfriend told his off, ‘now what happens if that thing that is dangling but not attached to you, I bet you will forget where you last left it’!

    Dan

  41. …”now what happens if that “thing” that is dangling but not attached to you, I bet you will forget where you last
    left it”…..unquote.

that is a classic piece from a quiet and compose ‘soo kee kor’ — our very Dan Huang. Guess I need to take some class
on set piece phrases not bowling. Over-bowled years ago. Now ‘lumbeh’ already.

  42. Gentle Reminder!

Bowling Session is on at CSC Tessehsohn from 3.00pm – 6.00pm tomorrow. Four lanes are booked.

Up to now nobody responded, please drop us a line if you can come or not coming. It would encourage the coach and all involved that there are justify in taking the time to be there for you!

    Dan, Richard Yee, Ronald Lee.

  43. Hi Dan, Richard and Ronald, I am sorry, I thought that we are coming for 4 weeks automatically. I misunderstood.
    Yes, I am coming.
    Thanks for all the caoching
    Cheers
    King Seng

  44. Hi Dan, Ronald & Richard,
I’ll be coming today. I also thought it’s automatic that we’ll be there unless we can’t make it then to inform you.
Did not check email yesterday. Thanks KS for your sms.

By the way Janet is also coming — in csse she did not respond. See you later. Cheers

  45. Hi Shirley,

Dun worry, can always join us this coming Sunday!

Last Sunday we have twelve bowlers. Paul Kong hit the highest score at 191. Those in Group A are Boon Liang, Janet Chan, Alice Seah, Yoon Chin, Richard, Lawrence Lee and wife and Dan.

In Group B we have King Lee, Anne Chua, Annto and Ronald. They are very fortunate to have two coaches to guide them. We have a new coach Victor who was very diligent to guide the newbies.

Anne Chua, as usual this Sunday at CSC Tessensohn from 3.00pm – 6.00pm 4 lanes are booked!

    Dan, Ronald & Richard.

  46. Dear EOs,

    May I join this Sunday?

If so, pls do put me under the “worse than longkang bowler” category :-(

I sincerely hope the coaches will bear with me.

But firstly I will need to figure out how to get to CSC Tessehsohn.

    Kind Regards
    Genet

  47. Hi King Seng,

So you find thrill in throwing balls into gutter, must have given you a lot of satisfaction!

Genet, you belong to Group C as you say ‘worse than longkang bowler’. Chances are the balls may not roll forward but backward, haha!

Now how to get there, since you drive and coming from the west, take the AYE and connect to CTE heading towards Ang Mo Kio. Look for slip road into Moulmein Road, once you filter out turn right into Balestier Rd and turn right again heading back to CTE, immediately turn left into Rangoon Rd where towards the end you turn left into Tessensohn Road.

Hope that make sense, otherwise I will try again, hee!

    Dan

  48. Hi Dan,

Thank you very much for your detailed street directions.

Ermmm…the chances may be that I go along with the bowling ball as well. You can pretend you don’t know me then ok.

BTW, for this Sunday my husband will be coming along but he is not bowling. He just wanted to see me “fly” with the bowling ball (super human feat).

He has already emailed admin for registration to be member of SHC.

    Kind Regards,
    Genet

  49. I would like to thank all the EOs for organising these series of bowling games;
I am especially grateful to Richrad Yee who had patiently taught me the proper way of bowling, but I have disappointed him time and again (the scores show).

The results can be expected because, I have not touch the bowling ball at all; and I just want to come have some fun and talk to friends in the SHC.

However, I will try to put in more effort to improve.

I will come again on 12 Apr 09, after which, I will always join in any bowling sessions oeganised by SHC members.

    Regards

  50. Email – maggieteo_0517@hotmail.com

    Hi Anne, Genet

you sure you’re longkang player?? one got own shoes, the other got own ball – looks to me like pro leh. I have yet to go down to rochor center to look at the shoes. will do so soon, hopefully before the next game.

Genet, now I know how your name is spelt ! haha. I was cracking my head on how to spell but didn’t want to ask as didn’t want to sound rude (very unlike me:-). I happen to see your profile and connected you with the bowling Genet although I think in your profile you did not mention bowling as one of your interest! Well, great to meet both of you. Hope to see you more often at the alley (bowling that is).

Hey Ron – is it possible not to publish our scores – very pai seh…anyway thanks for your help in registration, taking scores and collecing money for the game. Very unrewarding task if I may say so..

    Cheers…see you all real soon

  51. Last Sunday because of the weather, 10 bowlers turned up. This Sunday as usual 4 lanes at CSC Tessensohn from 3.00-5.00pm.

Credit must be given where it is due, Maggie Teo after a long laid off manage a 185 on the first game and 177 on the second game. At the top we have three contenders, Maggie, Richard and Lawrence. The rest of us are still struggling to find our form!

Some of us are looking at the game more seriously, they are investing in new bowling shoes and balls!

    Dan, Ron, Ric

  52. Hi KingSeng #72,

Its hard for me to believe that you are holding a bowling ball for the first time as you seem to be bowling pretty well (base on my standards).

I really admire your perseverence and I look forward to bowling alongside with you again this Sunday :-)

Like what Anne Chua said, our “C” group stands for “Champion”…hee hee….So 3 of us can sing “We are the Champions”…song by the group Queen as sung by Freddie Mercury.

    Hi Maggie,

Wow ! 185…compare to your score I am definitely a longkang bowler. I bet Sifu Richard must have suffered a migraine on Sunday evening after teaching me so much and my hand still always turn left or right. I like what Ron said to me….I walk left/right…that’s why my bowling ball also go left/right…hahaha!

Aiyoh, very malu leh. The bowling ball was retrieved from my storeroom filled with dust & cobwebs. I have not touched it for years that’s why I dare not mention this lorrr. Now my life is an open book…shy shy.

Anyway its really nice to meet all of you and I have definitely enjoyed myself very much. I hope all of you will not be bored by my longkangs. Oh Ron, I will try to to improve my “catwalk” ;-)

    Kind Regards,
    Genet

  53. Genet

I have a colleague who, when she bowls is like catwalking – gelek left gelek right. It always leaves me in stitches when I see her bowl (no malice intended, but it is so hilarious!) So name of the game is, even if you don’t bowl well, BOWL WITH STYLE which you have lots of !!

Must thank Richard for giving me some pointers which improved my game.

    Cheers!

  54. Hi Genet
This is really my first time playing bowling. You flatter my by saying I do pretty well.

I think they are just ‘blind shots’

    See you this Sunday

    Cheers

  55. “This is really my first time…………. You flatter me by saying I…..pretty….”

Well, King, to mankind, being “first time”: means a boy becoming a man or a gal becoming a woman. Congrats for finally coming of age altho I am somewhat surprised that you took so long…….

Next, in her profile, Genet describes herself as an elephant. So dosnt it make you happier that she flatters than flattens you?

Lastly, yes, you’re not bad looking but pretty? I’d rather you not.

    Heeee………………..

  56. Hi King Seng. #72
You did well and we are happy that you do.
On first lesson you managed a few STRIKES, second lesson a numbers of STRIKE and SPARE and a high score of 105, and the third lesson your scores were consistent. That’s definitely not bad for a new bowler.
Hmmmm……I think you should be upgraded to Group A…..hee..hee. I see you this Sunday.

    Hi Maggie #73,
You are leading.. yeah!….no worry about the published score… I used the first day’s scores for event promotion purposes only. Thereafter, only regular bowlers get a copy of the score-sheet for their use in knowing their pacing partners and in strategic planning in their future games. I believed that with some pacing, it makes the game more interesting. Therefore, you Maggie, don’t slacken har, they are coming after you. hee..hee… I see you this Sunday.

As in any event, someone has to do the donkey’s job, rite? I, “chaik pah ka eng huh”. So.. am the one lor.

    Hi Genet #75
Watch it! This Sunday, I shall be watching you doing your “catwalk” closely, from behind (as 16).…hahaha! Have fun in our activities!

I am looking forward in seeing all the bowlers this Sunday at CSC. Those who like to join us please come along. Whether you can bowl or not is not an issue. It is your keen interest and King Seng is a good example. Please come along and all are welcome.

    Cheers,

  57. Hi Maggie,

You want me to convince you that I am a ‘lonkang’ bowler?? I’ll show you this Sunday…guess what? I was cycling yesterday and missed a rock alongside the curb, hit, bang, fell, ah ha…for this I missed the ‘lonkang’ See! convince or not….sigh! not sure whether I am able to bowl this Sunday though…palms scratches, knee scratched, bandaged but kinda stiffen by the bandage so sure this Sunday if I got to bowl…aiyoh…lonkang man!

Genet and King Seng, you better get ready to go to ‘Audak’ group, heehe (our Best group’s secret ah)…

Ronald, if you ‘eat full nothing to do’ “chaik pah ka eng huh”. go and do some bowling instead of sitting there and ‘bai swee’ ok…

    Regards,

    Anne Chua

  58. Hi Anne
I have time and again disappointed my sifu – Richard by getting zero score for several throws, So how to move to the Audak group.

I would rather stay in the Best group, otherwise I might even be forced to join the Champion group.

    See you people this Sunday.

  59. Hi Everyone,

I would like to join in this Sunday. I am not a beginner nor a regular nor champion. Where do I fit in? Does not matter for now… just going to meet all of you and enjoy our Sunday together.

  60. Hi Shirley,

We welcome you to join in the fun.

I din expect that bowling can be so hilarious. Besides the longkang bowlers, we can look forward to some who can do the catwalk as they bowl!

Genet, did you actually fell into a longkang?

Gentle reminder! this Sunday as usual 3:00-5:00pm, 4 lanes booked. Whether you falls under Group A, B or C come lah!

Tim, Caroline, Sue Chan, Eileen, Alfred, Bira, Lum Fook and Annto, are you coming?

    Dan

  61. Hi Maggie #76,

I am utterly flattered (and not flattened) by your comment that I have lots of style :”>

Have you been in my kitchen cause I never knew I have lots of “bowl with style” ;-)

    Hi Tim #78,

May I know where in the world did you get your sense of humour from? Your comment has definitely left me in stitches :-D

    Hi Ronald #79,

Pls hold on very tightly to your seat cause when the 16 turn around and become 61 after the bowling ball goes into the longkang, pls pls pls don’t fall off your chair from shock horrr. I don’t want to call ambulance ok.

Oh and pls don’t watch me too closely from behind…scar-li you kena black eye (Oor bark kart…;-> )

    Hi Anne #80,

I think I have more fun at Best & Champion. Audak team will be overly stressful for me and my heartbeat will go up beyond 75bpm.

BTW hope your fall is nothing too serious. Take care & c u on Sunday.

    Hi Dan #83,

Ermmm…I didn’t fall into any longkang yet…and I don’t think the longkang can fit this elephant…

Come to think of it…we have a donkey who eat full with nothing to do but to watch an elephant doing the catwalk…what kind of Noah’s ark is this :^D

    See you all on Sunday.

    Kind Regards,
    Genet

  62. Dan, I am an incorrigibly greedy mand and works all 7 days of a week so if I have made enough $ this Sunday, sure, I’ll be there……but for now, it has to be Reading coming on top of Sheff Utd……….

Genet, thanks, I just hope to add a bit more color in what I do without being guilty of scrawling graffitti.

Btw, which is the most harmful and lethal…….germ, bacteria or virus?

Tell Bill Gates to pay you a ransom bcos you have put into his microsoft network a germ, a bacteria and watch how he reacts…………hehe.

  63. Last Sunday was another day of fun at the bowling lanes. Genet has improved having hit home three strike in a row, which caused her to jump with jubilation!

We welcome a few newbies, they are Shirley Wong who was ‘mia’ for quite a while. Shirley Wee a mahjong kaki, Evelyn Ong, Jeffrey Gan and Marianne.

There was a few high score, Molly 169, Richard 191, Marrianne 198, Maggie 208 and top score by Jeffrey Gan at 235!

This Sunday same time same place on four lanes. The rest of us are still trying to get our balls out of the longkangs!

    Dan, Ron, Ric

  64. Genet wow! you hit 3 strikes in a row. Sorry I missed that ! Congratulations !! you must be very proud of yourself. Keep it up girl !!! yeah…

Anne – your 3 strikes akan datang right? Hope your knee recovers by then.

I was so happy to have such a high score but Jeffrey XXX of a Gan had to outshine me..haha..Jeffrey pls don’t get angry….joking only uh…

  65. Hi Maggie,

I checked and do have your email address correct on the very first time, leh.

You should have received my previous score sheets. Don’t mind to check your “spam folder”.

Last night, I send the last session’s out. Let me know if you still don’t receive them. Thanks

  66. Hi Maggie #87,

Gee! Thanks but I think its just Lady Luck taking pity on me.

Actually horr, I was scared that Sifu Richard will really send my hand to hospital for constructive surgery to stop it from turning left/right.

Really must thank Sifu Richard and all of you for all the valuable advice and coaching to help me improve.

See all of you on the catwalk this Sunday :-)

    Kind Regards,
    Genet

  67. Hi Dan,Ronald and Richard,

Regret I’m unable to bowl this Sunday as I will be spending the weekend in Malacca with my office colleagues – there are 10 of us. Will be back on Sunday night.

    See you next Sunday.

    Cheers, Alice Seah

  68. Hi Genet,

Just kaypoh…coz I am making nametags for our fellowmates…do you have any nametag for SHC’s gathering?

I can do one up for you but may not be up to your expectation…all you have to do is to let me know what is your preference eg. your hobby, any colour preferred daa…daa…daa….coz we just want to make our nametags different from everyone…

    Cheers.

    AnneC

  69. Last Sunday Tim posted a high of 171 pins, Richard as usual hit an average of 170 pins!

Bowling as usual tomorrow at CSC Tessensohn from 3:00-5:00pm on four lanes. All are welcome!

    Dan, Ron, Ric

  70. No bowling this Sunday as some of us going for the kelong. No bowling following Sunday too as it is mother’s day!
May not have bowling following following Sunday as some of us going to the picnic at Botanic garden.

Last Sunday we have six bowlers in attendance. Look like the three EOs need to call for an EGM to decide the fate of bowling. A suggestion is to have it only on a monthly basis. Probably on the last Saturday of the month from 3:00-6:00pm. What say you bowlers?

    Dan, Ron, Ric

  71. Hi EOs,

I log in to check whether or not there will be Bowling on the 17th. Looks like attendance will be poor. Perhaps those who would like to bowl on the 17th please respond.

Please advise the outcome of your EGM. As with any activity the interest generally wanes. Cheers.

  72. Alice #94
I am free to bowl on 17th May.

    Dan #93
“Look like the three EOs need to call for an EGM to decide the fate of bowling. A suggestion is to have it only on a monthly basis. Probably on the last Saturday of the month from 3:00-6:00pm. What say you bowlers?”

Suggestions – Look for cheaper bowling fee. Change date and time if necessary. Not to coincide with outdoor sport, which is usually in the early morning and late afternoon.

I am for weekdays if it is cheaper. If on Saturday, would prefer between 1 to 4pm

  73. Hi Lawrence & bowling gang

My employer The Chinese Swimming Club has a bowling alley which since leased out to a private operator, is now open to bookings from non-members. Allow me to enquire the bowling charges and will inform accordingly.

    Regards

    Abel Tan

  74. Alice is calling out for bowlers to come forward on May 17, those who can make it do indicate here.

    Lawrence, we heard your suggestion!

Thank Abel for the suggestion, do check out the rate for us.

Today we had a lunch meeting at Roxy Square. At the invitation of Anne Chua who operate a stall here, we will more than delighted to try out the dishes! Known as Adonai Spaghetti and Desert, we tried various spicy spaghetti dishes and of course most of the yummy deserts in air-conditioned comfort!

Those in attendance are Dan, Joy, Tim, King Seng, Genet, Shirley Wong, Boon Liang, Janet, Albert Tan and Maggie Teo. We took the opportunity to celebrate Maggie’s birthday and chipping in a cake to complement the occasion!

The suggestion to hold the bowling session once a month is a no no! Most feel that once a week is barely enough to whet their appetites. So starting from the month of June it will be a weekly affair from 3:00-6:00pm on four lanes for both longkang and season bowlers.

EOs Ronald and Richard do take note! To take the strain of being present every week let’s work out a rotating schedule.

    Dan

  75. Hi Dan,

Agree with your last sentence. Starting in June Bowling will be on Saturday or Sunday?

Thanks Abel for trying to help.

Hi Lawrence, note yr availability on the 17th. Awaiting response from other Bowlers. Cheers.

  76. Hi Dan, Lawrence, Alice & the bowling gang

My humble apology that I had overlooked the fact that
effective as of 1st March, the Club’s bowling alley forbade patronage from the public, though a member can sign-in TWO guests during non-peak periods.

    Regards

    Abel Tan

  77. Big Ball game is back by popular request!

We are resuming bowling for every Sunday at SCS Tessensohn, Planet Bowl from 3:00-5:00pm on four lanes.

Alice Seah, Grace Kok, Boon Liang and Janet Chan, Lawrence Lee, see you folks. All are welcome to join whether longkang or seasoned bowlers!

    Dan, Ron, Ric

  78. Hi EOs,

I am back in action & will be joining this Sunday, 24th May to throw more bowling balls into the longkang.

    Ermmm…I hope there’s a session this Sunday???

Sifu Richard…be prepared to pull your hair out again :-D

    Kind Regards
    Genet

  79. Hi Genet and all bowlers,

As usual bowling this Sunday at Planet Bowl(CSC Tessensohn) from 3:00-5.30pm on four lanes.

Badminton at same venue from 6:00-8:00pm. Those who need a good workout come and join in the fun! After that you are assure of a good sleep!

    Dan, Ron, Ric

  80. Hi fellow bowling kakis

I’ll be there maybe late but better late than never right? hehe

Janet, so I can share your locker right? Let me know how much to pay on sunday. Thanks

  81. “Janet, so I can share your locker right? Let me know how much to pay…..”

Janet will only be too thankful that you have asked to share space in her locker, look after her pricey assets and provide 24/7 security. Since our society has not come to the stage when security providers pay for doing their services, I think Janet will pay you market rate for security guards. Arrm buay?

  82. Bowling session on as usual on every Sunday at CSC Tessensohn, Planet Bowl from 3:00-6:00pm on four lanes.

We welcome a few newcomers in our midst, namely Peng Peng, Shirleen, Marg, Grace Kok and Rose White. Our coaches are always on hand to help improve your games for the longkang bowlers!

    Dan, Ron, Ric

  83. Our regular bowling session is on every Sunday at CSC Tessensohn from 3:00-6:00pm on four lanes.

The average attendance from our die-hard bowlers are from 7 – 12 person. If you are new, come and join in the fun. Our three coaches, Richard Yee, Ronald Lee and Dan will be on hand to guide you.

Come and learn how to do the cat-walk, the pendulum swing and how to use the the dot and arrow to help you improve your game. See for yourselves whether the sense of achievement from having a stike wiii make your day!

    Dan, Ric, Ron

  84. Dear bowlers,

This Sunday being National Day, the bowling session is cancelled. We will resume the following Sunday.

Have a pleasant and meaningful day all you good people of SHC!

    Dan, Ron, Ric

  85. Are you guys still bowling on Sundays? I haven’t bowled for donkey years but can still remember how to hold the ball and pose before swinging and aiming for the pins.

  86. Hi Rosaling,

Yes, we are still bowling, hope to see you this Sunday. We really appreciate Richard Yee who book the lanes every week for us. Attendance has been poor lately but for those few consistent bowlers.

Richard will be there to give coaching to the beginner!

    Dan/Richard

  87. Hi Dan,

Sorry I missed your reply. Was away in Manila and came home to Singapore with a bad case of flu. No, not H1N1, just the normal flu. I hope to recover in time for the walk and get to play a game with you guys on Sunday.

    Thanks
    Rosalind

  88. “Was away………and came home…with a bad..flu…..I hope to recover in time…..to play a game with you guys..”

Rosalind-L, somehow this flu has emboldened you to make a proposal to the guys so openly. The game guys play will make even Rose Chan blush but of cos we are talking not of Rose (on her guys’ eyes glue) but Rosalind with a flu.

Well, you caution a newbie of intimidating old birds in another thread. I suppose you must have all the tricks to handle birds of all ages and sizes. A bird in hand is worth 2 in the bushes, and you have 2 hands, yeah?

    Hehe……….

  89. Aiyoh! Dan, you are Daniel! Sorry ah, I forgot what your surname was. *smacks palm on forehead*

Thanks for the late welcome. :p

Willie is not a member of SHC so if he can be cajoled to play, is he allowed to join in the bowling? I guess he can always play in a separate lane……

    Ros

  90. Dear bowlers,

Of late the attendance is poor, we do need to know whether member are still keen to bowl on the scheduled date and time.

The three EOs feel that if the response continue to be poor, we may want to scrape the session. It will help if those who intend to come inform us so that we know how many lanes to book.

Richard Yee has done all the booking and is willing to coach but find that certain day he is bowling along! Dan and Ronald will continue to be there if we get some assurances that you are coming.

So far only Boon Liang, Janet Chan, Alice Seah, Marg, Peng Peng, King Seng and Laurence Lee are coming consistently!

    Dan, Ric, Ron

  91. Dears bowlers,

As a number of you have other engagement, there will be no bowling session for tomorrow 18 October and next Sunday 25 October 2009.

    Dan

  92. Dear bowlers,

Our session this Sunday is cancelled as most of us will be bowling the night before at Safra Mount Faber.

Come and join us if you can. We have a packed full day of Flea Mart, badminton, pickleball, mahjong, karoeke, dancing, monthly gathering and bowling!

    Danz4Joy!

  93. Dear bowlers,

We resume our bowling session at Planet Bowl this Sunday. If you have intention to join us, do indicate here.

    See you folks!

    Dan,Ron, Ric

  94. Dan

Where is this planet bowl hah?

Would like to go but threw away my ball already. Prob have to use a house ball.

Please let me know time and how to get there.

    Many thanks

    Caroline Gee

  97. Hi Dan

I will be coming for the bowling. By the way, can we have a new forum page for this? Guess it would be good to start a new one for 2010 !!

    C u all bowling kakis !

  98. My apologies to King Seng who turned up last week and no bowling lanes were booked. The bowling session will be stopped indefinitely!

There will be new EOs and venue and new forum when it is decided to resume.
