  1. Hi All

The date may clash wif that of some activities. Pls come n join when yours are done. Thanks.

    Especially 4 the newbies

There will be a demo session on how to log in, creat post n comments. Timing TBC later.

  2. Dear All,

Since our chairman, Terence said that we shd each try and be an EO for at least one event, I’m now taking on this task for our coming July SHC meeting.

I’ve reserved the whole aircon room for our use, so pls do support with your presence (old and new members). I’ve yet to try out this place but since it’s new, thought it’d be good for us to have a change. Have recced the place and it’s quite a nice environment and we can have all the place to ourselves. There’ also alresco at the side of the air-conditioned place, so for those who do not like the aircon, can also sit outside, alfresco. Understand that there’s a chef who does good pastry too and good coffee too. I believe they have a 50 cents discount for the coffee that day too besides the 1-for-1 meal sets.

Look forward to seeing everyone there. Let’s meet and have fun! All those who went for the 1st Padang trip – hope to see you all ok? Regards, Lisa

  3. Lisa,
Good to hear you will be EO for this July monthly gathering
You have been very supportive of many SHC activities.
I will be there to join you and fellow members for this event.

  4. Hi Lisa,
    Count us in.

    Jane & Richard Kee

    Hi Dolly,
May I have permission to speak on Friendship Force International. I was unable to do so at last month’s meeting due to a previous engagement. Not more than 30 mins. Thanks in anticipation.

  5. Hi Lisa,
Bravo, u hv taken d lead 2b the EO 4 tis event. As I m not sure my work sch yet but definitely will b there 2 give my support if I m SG, ok…

PS: Pls check if there is a possibility for Richard Kee to speak on Frenship Force International sin u r now the EO.

    Cheers.. Dolly

  6. Richard #5, you’re most welcome to speak on Friendship Force International that day but do keep it short & sweet to allow some Q&A (if any). In order that we make full use of our time, we can allow people to have their meals/snacks in between while they listen – are you ok with that? Of course, I’m sure all members will be understanding enough not to chat aloud during the session and give you due attention, followed by any Q&A later. Can we tentatively fix a time for that?

Sockie #7, Nice to know you’ll be coming and thanks for volunteering to help Richard out that day.

Pls note that I’ll be out of S’pore this Friday, so will not have access to any email, so do bear with me if I don’t respond. I’m sure YK and Jie will be helping me to keep track of who’s coming, so hope to see more members signing up. Rgds, Lisa

  7. Hi All

Those who are taking MRT , u can alight at Commonwealth station and take Bus 100 & 111 to Ghim Moh Bus Interchange … which is about 4 stops from MRT station.

    karen

  8. Dear Lisa, BRAVO! indeed. Happy to see you take this step, hope others shall follow.
These days it is quite difficult for me to plan ahead. Looking at the calendar today, it is a tentative yes!

Btw, do tell Jocelyn about this as she could drive over easily. Haven’t seen both of you since the last D&D.

#11 to add to Karen’s direction,,, if you like to take a leisure walk, less than 15mins, alight at Buona Vista MRT, exit left(head towards Ghim Moh Blk 12), walk along Ghim Moh Road, through the popular Food Centre/Mkt/Blk20. The Language Centre is between blocks 7 & 21. Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    ChristinaCL

  9. Hi Richard,
Sorry that we are unable to commit you for the FFI presentation at our monthly gathering as FFI is considered as external organisation. I had once rejected Tsao Foundation (Active aging) due to same reason for a presentation in our monthly gathering, hence, I had decided to apply standard procedure across the board.

However, you can do a pte arrangement to present your talk on FFI to those interested members to attend at a later date.

Once again, sorry for the oversight at my end. Thousand apologies…. Dolly

  10. Thank you Karen #11 and Christina #12 for your kind input on how to get to the venue – appreciate that very much.

As per Dolly’s msg #13, my apologies Richard that you’ll not be able to do your FFI presentation. Maybe you can just share with all of us there and make arrangement on a separate meet with those interested?

Thanks Kristin, Eileen for your support. I hope Jocelyn is reading this post and will sign up her attendance too. Kristin, can you help me to contact Grace Wong to sign up too? Thanks.

Got to scram as I’ve to rush out for some errands now. Thanks everyone for your kind support. Have a great weekend! Rgds, Lisa

  11. Hi Lisa,

Remember you said you would find out if the canteen hires hearing-impaired helpers? Any news? I shall be meeting some hearing-impaired people this Sunday.

    Regards,

  12. aiya Lisa, why you chose the same day as the Board Game gathering/lunch? any way, since you’re such a sweet lady, i’ll try to rush there to support your event if can make it before 7PM… ALL THE BEST!

  13. Hi Lisa, I just joined and would like to attend the gathering to meet up. Unfortunately, I can only join you at about 5.30pm. I might miss the session on – log in, create post n comments – for newbies

  14. Hi Lisa,

I’ll be able to attend this monthly meeting because my domestic helper agrees to change her day off otherwise need to babysit my mum. Do you need any more assistance? I can be there early with Grace Wong.

Eileen Lee, thanks for persuaded me to give support to Lisa being her debut as EO. Likewise, I convinced you to sign up of Bollywood Nite being Dhevi’s debut as EO. Smile…………

    Enjoy your weekend!
    Veronique

  15. Hello Lisa,
Kindly register my name for attending the 25/7 monthly meeting. TQ.
Ps. pity you cld not join us last evening to view the travel DVDs – the “Mian Kia Eu” session was so funny.
    HC

  16. Hi Lisa,

I will drop in too as I have not seen you after the Padang trip and will certainly give you my support for being EO of the monthly meeting for the first time. Also to catch up with people I have not seen for a while like Jie and others.

    Be seeing you soon!

  17. Hi Agnes Yong,

Great you pick the courage to attend the first meeting. As you are new, do write a new Post of your profile. This way, we know you even before you attend our monthly gatherings.

    Terence Seah

  18. Dear Lisa,
Have been missing attendance for this monthly get together. Since now its set for Sat, better chance for me to attend. Do count me in. Will try my best to come if nothing crops up suddently. You know lah. Sometimes weekend cant tell now lor. Much appreciated!!!

    Cheers :)

  19. Hi Lisa,
Would like to come since this is my first gathering as an SHC member.
Hope to c u guys and get to know other SHC members also.
    Regards
    Sasha.

  20. Dear All,

My apologies for the silence as I was away and only got back late last nite and had to rush off the next morning to help out on the logistics for the canteen business for my boss – ‘Pow Sua, Pow Hai’ lah!

    Christina #12,
Thks for support, can you also help to call Jocelyn and request her to come too? Appreciate it.

    Grace #16,
Thks for volunteering to help out and so glad to hear that Veronique #23 also able to come along to assist. Tks dear!

Jasmine #19, Sorry for the late reply. Have checked, hearing-impaired not allowed at the moment but will discuss with my mgt to see how we can incorporate them in future recruitment plans. Apologies for the late reply as was away and returned only last nite.

Jenny #21, Many thks for yr support. 5:30pm is fine, just show up and say ‘Hi’ no matter how late, so long it’s not past 7pm ok?

Nina #23 and Kristin #29, Look forward to see you both and thanks for all yr support too. See ya!

Hou Chong #24, Apologies for not showing up that evening, pls continue yr ‘Mian Kia Eu’ on that day. No amount of laughter is ever enough in SHC!!! See ya!

Catherine #25, Aiyoh, so sweet of you to support huh? Am sure you’ll get to catch up with alot more of your buddies that evening! See ya!

Mary C #26, Answer to your question, Canteen closes at 8pm. Will try and ask for keys and maybe some extension but no promises – have to abide by the school rules lah as there’s a security guard who may chase us away if we stay too late. Can always adjourn if nec. to another place.

Agnes #27, Look forward to meet you. After this meet, you’ll no longer be a newbie.

Perlyn #30 and Haresah #31, Sure look forward to meeting you both. Pearlyn try to make it ok and not miss this one. Haresah, there’s always a first time for everything (no pun intended), hahhaha……..

Last but not least, thank you all for your kind support. Hope to see more signing up as I’ve booked for 70 pax. Take care! Rgds, Lisa

  21. Frisna #20, Sorry for late reply. Unfortunately date not set by me leh and EO post die die must also do once lor! Anyway, glad to hear that you’ll be coming but pls try to come b4 7pm ok, otherwise you’ll just come, put your bag and then say bye bye only hor? See ya! Rgds, Lisa

  22. Poor Lisa, I supposed dat u did not asked YewKwong why he must set dat date 4 mthly gathering rite. Well, let me help 2 explain so dat every1 are clear of this kind of arrangement.

Every mth, we will try 2 set a few dates 2 hv at least 1 of us, either YKwong, Terence or myself can be present at the mthly gathering so dat if any new members nid 2 clarify on items dat required replies from us, at least 1 of us will b there 2 answer.

As far as July is concerned, since Terence is just out of hosp n I might not b bck on tx 4 d mtg, so YKwong is d oli 1 must b present, thus he had d final say on chosen date.

Hope we hv make ourselves clear on this. Many thanks n still keeping my fingers 2b able 2 attend d gathering.

    Cheers.. Dolly

  23. Hi All

As Dolly hd explained the date ws fixed by me. My July is heavily loaded wif many commitment. As such I m pressed 4 time. Why fixed on Sat 25 Jul? Because this day I m free. Why not weekday? I m afraid I get caught wif last min workload in the office n land up arriving at venue at 8 pm.

Coincidentally Lisa hd suggested the current venue, I thought why not let Lisa takes role of EO n I play the supporting role. Generously she accepted the assignment.

I look forward 2 see all you guys. That also allow me time 2 do a demo on how 2 sign in 2 SHC webpage 2 creat post n put up comments 4 both newbies n oldbies.\

    Hi Frisna

Wld u like 2 be the EO for Aug’s mthly meeting? Pick a date n let us know. Deeply appreciate.

  24. Thanks Dolly #34 & YK #35 for both your explanations on my behalf. Time was of the essence for me, so all I wanted to do was get on with the task and finish the EO job the best I can. I’m sure with everyone’s help and understanding, nothing is impossible, so let’s make the most of it and just have a great time.

Noted with thanks on both your support & attendance Steven # 37 & Terence #38. Glad to have both your support – appreciate it! Pls help to garner more members to attend and fill up the 70 seats that I’ve booked ok?
    Many thanks & rgds, Lisa

  25. Hi Lisa,

Trust you’re back from a good break and, ready to assume as EO for this monthly gathering held @ a totally new venue.

Do register me, Shirleen Kao & Martin Lee ~ we shall be there to support you.

    Cheers!

  26. Hi Lisa,

Am registering on behalf of Ben Foo & James Tan, who’re able to attend this gathering. Do include them in your Attendees’ List.

    Thanks!

  27. Hi Yew Kwong

OK, I don’t mind to be the EO for august. Will give you the date by 27/7. As for days (Mon to Fri), please tell me which day is more popular with the members. tq

Lisa: ok,will be there earlier (by 6PM) so to be able to play more games with you!

  28. Hi Frisna

If you are the EO for August, really, really hope it will coincide with my trip with my girls. Want to meet you and of course, other members!!

  29. Hi Lisa and organising team

Sorry I cant make it this time. Book and paid for a Puala Ubin photography full day trip. Will try to meet up you guys for other fun future activities. Have fun folks.

    cheers
    sylvia

  30. Lisa Ong.
Thanks for the explanation. I didn’t realise that it was a school canteen. I understand now why we have to adhere to the timing. I will try my best to be there earlier.
    See you. :-)

  31. hi EO lisa ong ,

very much like 2 support u but due 2 pressure frm work,, so sorry i cant make it 2 tis mth gathering , & some how rather new plc & ist tx eo mei ? si bo huh ?

if so pai say la hor,, all de best 2 u huh !!!

  32. Shd be fun to sit in a school tuckshop after more than 5 decades in my primary 1 school uniform so will find time to join you folks………………..

  33. It’s ok Sam #49 that you cannot make it this time but I’m sure we’ll get to meet again at some other SHC’s activities.

Thanks Andrew #50 and Tim #51 for all your support. Altho it’s a school canteen but it’s nothing like those in our days – where got aircon then, you’ll be lucky to have fan already, but nevertheless, it’s a nice feel to be back at school with all the hand washing area in a row etc.

Rose #52 thanks for your support and as Tim mentioned about school uniform – that does really bring some nostalgic moments to mind for me too. Can’t imagine how we’ll all look with our uniforms on, hahahaha…….just makes me break into a smile just thinking about it. So Tim, will expect you to come in your 5 decades ago (modified version) school uniform huh?

Thanks to Eliza #53, Cecilia #54 and Richard #55 for all your support. Look forward to seeing everyone soon. As we’ve still about 30 places left, pls try to pull in your kakis to join in.

Btw, just like to share with everyone some of the menus for that day. As it’s officially opened yet until Aug ’09, my boss has very kindly agreed to let us have a soft launch that day with a few selective menus like:
    1) Black & Pepper Chicken
    2) Japanese Bento set (Not sure if it’s chicken or fish or Tempura – have to check what’s available that day)
    3) Local delights like Char Kueh Teo, Beehoon, Fried Rice, Baked Chicken Wings
    4) Coffee, Tea and some Pastries

Since they’re only catering to our crowd, it’ll be nice to know before hand what’s the majority’s preference, so that they’ll only buy what’s more in demand. Can I hear from all, your preference(s) so that I can inform the relevant chefs on what to expect that day? Thanks in advance for all your cooperation. Getting excited to meet up with everyone next Saturday. Take care and have a good weekend!
    Rgds, Lisa

  34. Hi Lisa,
To get the ball rolling, I’ll have the ‘char kueh Tiow” and coffee.
Just for interest, what is the black pepper chicken served with?
    Tks and rgds……………Jie

  35. Hi Lisa #57,
yes I agree with Tim let’s all come in school uniform for this gathering, that will be fun and all will have a good laugh, I remember 2 years ago, my co’s D&D did this “Back to School” theme, it was real fun, everyone goes round borrowing uniforms..

Tim#51 say = “Shd be fun to sit in a school tuckshop after more than 5 decades in my primary 1 school uniform so will find time to join you folks…”

  36. Lisa, I will be there (in sch uniform),, I suppose those who are going to the Padang Trip will be attending this gathering as Pak Chin is giving briefing for the trip.

“Chin#139…For those who are going for 2nd trip to Padang and Bukit Tinggi on 1 Aug, please attend the coming SHC monthly meeting on 25 July, Sat 5pm at Chinese Language Centre Canteen…”

  37. I made a promise which I now realise I cant keep.

The only complete school uniform in the closet belongs to my kid. I managed to squeeze myself in but wont I look funny attending this gathering in tiny min skirts and a shirrt that cant be buttoned?

So in order not to completely break my promise, I will wear something close to a school uniform……….a pair of swimming trunks which I used to swim with when I was 8.

So perhaps the galss like Joy and Eileen, assuming they too cant find their school uniforms, can also come in their swimming trunks (no typo, they’re not second to men and so deserve to be respected like men by men).

Finally, I cant wait to sink my teeth in the special dish Mr Char Kueh Teo (is he Lisa’s boss ?) is prepareing for us…….the Black Japanese Peppered with Chicken.

  38. Tim Liu #62

“I will wear something close to a school uniform……a pair of swimming trunks which I used to swim with when I was 8.”

    You poor thing.

You are still as small as you were when you were 8??

  39. Hi Lisa

I will be attending the gathering. Cannot tahan the cold so coming home earlier than scheduled.

I would like the Bento Box (Chicken).

    Many thanks.

    Caroline Gee

  40. You’re right, Mary-C, he’s now very small.

It grew up with me. I gave him a lot of liberty to exercise, to barge thru virgin forests and, like the slippery eel, he was king of tunnels.

Then, he turned holy, went thru abstenance and now performs only one functtion which for sure wont get him into any trouble but it’s only sleeping so dare you turn him on…………..

  41. Lisa #57, Jie 358

Black & Pepper chicken….hmmmmmm it this

    – Black chicken cooked in pepper
    – Normal chicken cooked in black pepper
    – Normal chicken cooked with pepper and special secret black sauce concocted by Lisa????

Anyway I am keen to try any of the 3 above kekekekekekeke

    CU folks next week then

    Sockie

  42. Hi Lisa,
Was away. Just back last night.
Will be there with Peggy and Pearl.

Calling all interested in the Sg Lembing Trip.
    Will discuss details.
    Date of Trip:24th Aug 2009.
    Duration:4 day 3 nite.
Place of stay, food and places of interested confirmed.
    Drivers do get in touch.

    Paul

  43. Hi Tim Tim,

…..which for sure wont get him into any trouble but it’s only sleeping so dare you turn him on…………..

Mary, better beware let sleeping dogs lie.Ha! ha! :)

  44. Steven, dont frighten Mary-C lah……….mine is only a tiny appendage but tell me why, in your case, you hang a dog there, nvm it’s a sleeping dog, it’s still a dog?

  45. Hi Tim Tim,

…..mine is only a tiny appendage but tell me why, in your case, you hang a dog there, nvm it’s a sleeping dog, it’s still a dog?

    Good question.Why?
I hang the dog picture there in memory of him and is part of my family.

  46. Hi Tim Tim,

…..mine is only a tiny appendage -poor thing but tell me why, in your case, you hang a dog there, nvm it’s a sleeping dog, it’s still a dog?

    Good question.Why?
I hang the dog picture there in memory of him for 11yrs since I had him and he has became part of my family.

  47. Hi Lisa,

Finally managed to rearrange my schedule and trip to be around to support you on your first event as an EO. I am sure are you are more than able to handle this event well even without my support being such a warm person who help others without any preconditions or expectations.

But what are friends for ? So I am proposing to come around 3 pm and play some instrumental songs on my guitar and maybe sing a couple of lounge songs with a couple of pretty ladies. Sort of providing background music while Dan and the others play their board games.

If you fine with this , I will take care of all the logistics and people joining me. One of the ladies is a very popular cat walk lady who can sing too and she is very happy to join me to support you.

We will play for about 30 mins, short and sharp repetoire. Will have to leave after that to attend any function.

By the way this is also responding to Terence’s invitation for new ideas. I hope others who have other hobbies will try to share them too during the monthly meetings. Those who are good cooks or bakers should to share the fruits of their work. So am hoping people like Ken (Tiramisu) , Dennis (tarts), Lina (apple crumble) and others will come forward semi professionally and let those who are willing to pay enjoy their cakes at cost price ??? This will help to push them to further improve skills and the enjoyment of thier hobbies.

So hoping for a nice high tea SHC style.

    Cheers

  48. Ronald Wie,
Good idea, music to entertain and cakes to eat.
Those who do not have any special skills, just come and add to the fun with your presence. The more the merrier.

  49. Hi Lisa,

    I am attending. Thank you!

    Hi Paul @71

I hope I can fit into your schedule time for discussion as I need to leave early on that day.

    Cheers

  50. Hi Lisa,

Would you require a set of two wireless microphones and an amplifier with two speakers. All very portable. If you need, I shall bring them along.

    Terence Seah

  51. Hi Lisa,

I will opt for the Japanese Bento set.
If we can find one and dress up in our uniform will be great.
So, all school girls and boys see c u, haha.

    Cheers,
    Lilian

  52. Hi Lina Ng,

….I would like the Japanese chicken bento set. Thanks.

Come dress in kimono,I give you a free treat and/or Chin Boon will let you have his favourite har cheong kai.

  53. Hi EO:
Please count me in, my dinner selection will be Japanese Chicken Bento set.
Calling DAisy and the rest who are going to 2nd Padang trip
since there will be briefing by Chin about the said trip,
come lah come lah good to listen and join in the fun!!!!! I am unfamilar about the venue but hope to find it with Christina’s clear directions.
    C U

  54. Hi Frisna

Do not have a fixed date yet. By the time my eldest settles her uni, my youngest will start her Year 11 academic year. Will certainly keep you posted and yes, we’ll have coffee etc whenever I’m there.

    Hi Lisa

Thanks for writing. Will catch up with you when I’m in town. Have a great monthly gathering; so sweet of you to be the EO this time!

  55. Hi Geraldine and Ivy,

Both of you have been good friends and I enjoyed your company when I was in HK. I look forward to bring both of you out for lunch when you are here. And, if TimL is available, I shall also ask him to come along. He likes roast duck. See u soon.

    Terence Seah

  56. Hi Ron Wie #82,

Will make your High Tea SHC style come true! I’ll make something, yam cake (Chinese version) perhaps, ie. only if Lisa approves. I’ll put aside a big piece for you.

  57. Lisa Ong

    Tumpang.

Just to let some of the other attendees know that I will be bringing a deck of cards to play my ‘Golf game’ and that I will be there at around 4 pm.
    See you. :-)

    FRISNA

Could you please bring my deck of cards with you? Thanks.

  58. Hi Lina & All,
I dun think that bringing outside food is a good idea as it would not be fair to Lisa’s boss whom had kindly agree to corner 1 specific area for our monthly gathering. It would only fair that we patronise their food as we did at Han’s. Moreover, this will put Lisa in a very difficult position whom she had kindly took the initiative 2 liaise with her boss on this in the first plc.

I always support any new ideas/events and I support having a so-called SHC Hi Tea provided that we get prior approval first.

  59. Sengh, it’s not quite complete to say that tim likes roast duck.

In this man date man, dog eat dog world, I like to see duck roast duck, and I all need to do is to pick them up and eat without bothering Johnson who can then happily stay behind the Lock with his harem of drakes…………….

  60. Tim baby,

What do you mean by ‘not quite complete to say that tim likes roast duck…..’?

Just eat. Without bothering Johnson, of course…kekekeee.

  61. G’dine the babe Ting, my “like for roast ducks” will depend on whether it was me, Sengh, Johnson or the ducks themeselves roasting each other? Only if human effort is dispensed with will I find it shiok to eat roast ducks as much as the shark boils its fins for me………….

  62. Hi guys!!

I’ll be there this Saturday… a looong bus ride for me on SBS100.

I’ll also be looking forward to meet all the hot, peppery chicks… oh, oh, I mean order the black pepper chicken for me, please!

    Kenneth

  63. Oi Cheng & CJ #104, noted your attendance. Tks for your support. If possible, pls indicate preference for menu on that day e.g. Japanese Bento set (chicken) or Black Pepper chicken (Western) etc. No need to indicate for local delights as these are easily available e.g. Char Kueh Teow, Bee Hoon, Fried Rice etc.

Ann To & Janet #105, noted your attendance. See ya both and if joining for dinner, pls indicate preference if possible. Thanks all for your support & cooperation – appreciate it. Btw, pls note that I’ve requested for baked chicken wings to be on the menu too for those who may just want to nibble some finger food etc. Rgds, Lisa

  64. I was fooling around with what will happen if a J meets a chicken as they pepper each other with black pepper………and in my next blink, I see a black & pepper chicken standing next to my name. So be it and come what may so long as the chicken has to be dead on the plate and if the J comes, he can be black but must not be dead.

I can see that Sengh has copied an order similar to mine. Well & ok, if the J is black andd the chicken only plays dead, pls give them to him, with enough peppper (and garlic) for him to protect himself if the chick turns wild and the J turns sexy at him……………..

  65. Dear Lisa,

I have contacted Jocelyn. She has a church meeting and will come after that ie., after 3pm. I told her not to worry as the meeting is till 7.30pm. ps: I didnt tell her about ordering of food as I found out only now

#12 I will only know if I can make it to the meet at a late hour, so I will not place any food option. Btw, I have lost my mobile whilst in Spain ie., all contacts :D , so not possible to call you; will come by when possible.

    Regards,
    ChristinaCL

  66. Hi Lisa,

Ok good to hear that Terence is supporting the idea of the high tea (SHC style)and bringing the wireless mikes but will see if these are needed. Would prefer doing the unplug version of singing so that it is not too noisy, just some background soothing music I hope.

Charles, glad you are happy with the idea of cakes and music, hymm so do I get a coffee to go along with Lina’s big piece of cake, that I may have to go elsewhere to eat or eat secretly. Thanks Lina you are a guardian angel.

All in all I hope what we are trying to do will not get Lisa into any trouble, else we better hunt for a better venue the next time. One, where the owner is a little more nterprising knowing a happy crowd will come back again and again and little leeway to the crowd is not necessary bad.

There is many more people with more skills and talents and with Terence support, the high Tea concept (pot luck style) can be expanded in future at the right venues. There is no lack of professional musicians like Jeff Gan, Patrick and others who are more than ready to perform for a bigger crowd .

Anyway ideas comes from dreams so let us see what can happen and what a backyard wanna me musician can scrap from the so called ‘high tea’ dream. Hymm seems my beautiful lady singers better hold on to their day time jobs to have their high teas.

    Cheers

  67. Hi There,

Hi-Tea is a great idea. Especially with SHC members volunteering to cook, play music or sing to entertain and amuse themselves and other SHCians.

However, the enclosed venue that Lisa got for us is not a public arena free-for-all to do-as-you-please. It is under the jurisdiction of MOE and as such, there will certainly be guidelines & restrictions to observe for its usage. So please, lets give some thoughts to Lisa who might be put in a difficult position but too polite to say so.

Are we so naive to think that Han’s or Tangerine @ Kovan CC, or any food outlets for that matter, are so kind to let us use their venues if we were to bring our own food to eat there and just order drinks from them?

Let’s have our Pot-Luck Hi-Tea somewhere else whereby we are not competiting with the food caterers who are paying rental and utility bills.

  68. Hi Paul

#71 I’m keen on the Sg Lembing trip but will not be able to join in the discussion as i won’t be attendiong the monthly meeting due to a prior engagement. Will get details from Lilian Teo who will be at the meeting and from the SHC Webpage.

    Cheers

  69. Hi EO

Mike Tan’s is coming for Sat’s meeting. I am registering
    on his behalf.

To delete Mike Soh @#72 on the register list. Who is he?

    Cheers
    Alicia

  70. Heard you Maureen!

Lisa dear, please include me. Should be there before 5pm.
No need to pre-order dinner. Shall take whatever fancies.

Yew Kwong, have you decided on your time slot yet or did I miss it?

  71. Hi Lisa,

Tan Boon Liang has asked me to register his attendance on his behalf, as he’s currently ‘not in good terms with his PC’ now~~!

    Thanks!

  72. Hi Lisa

Laura Wee and Dorothy Low, both asked me to register their
attendance on their behalf also. Ya, ya, they also “cannot” touch the PC now – actually don’t know what is the reason, haha.

    Thks
    Lilian

  73. Lisa, ex-fil has just passed on, funeral may be this Saturday so keeping my fingers crossed. Anyhow, if I cant make it by 4.30 p.m., someone can have my black J peppered with chics, treat is on me, enjoy…………………

  74. Hi Lisa,

I think you would need to seek assistance for someone to handle the registration, and remind members to bring their name tags. Those without nametags should have the sticky label with name on their shirt/dress.

And, importantly to ask for phtographer assistance. Or else no record of the event, and Oi Cheng would be waiting.

Have fun. The monthly is going well. Well done.

    Terence Seah

  75. Terence

Lisa hd already a guy n 2 gals manning the registration. A more modern word ws used “assisting”. All except the photographer, she also got her now.

  76. Hi Lisa,
Pls keep a copy of final registration attendances for safe keeping, ok.. Thanks..

For those without name tags, pls let me know here so that I can print them – but no promise 4 sure due 2 time constraints and no fancy design, just plain white.

For those dat oredi bn issued name tags done b4, pls do not request here again hor.. 2 save paper n be green la… Dolly

  77. Dear All,
My apologies for not responding for the last 2 days. Was on course at Bayview hotel until 6pm+ and have no internet access at home.
Glad to see so many supporters and camaraderie among us the SHC members. Many thanks to those who’ve signed up or assisted some members to register, I thank you all for your kind assistance and support – this has spurred me to be more active in future events.
Terence #124, thank you for highlighting on the logistics and am really fortunate to have so many members who’ve volunteered themselves even without my asking – thank you one and all for all your kind & accommodating gestures and cooperation for this event.
Lily #114, thank you very much for your kind consideration on my behalf. I’ve actually called up the Admin Mgr of SCCL and have told her to inform her relevant authorities that we will be having some talks and singing with guitar accompaniment for this Saturday and she’s given me the green light but have requested that we keep it acoustically reasonable and under control. So Ron, you can serenade us all with your guitar and we’ll all sing along and enjoy ourselves ok?
Once again, my heartfelt thanks for all the kind support and may I look forward to meeting everyone there this Saturday. Oh before I forget, pls remember to bring along your name tag if you have them, otherwise, we’ll issue you with a sticker only. See ya and have a good day!!! Rgds, Lisa

Sorry I have to miss the gathering but will pay you for my dinner order and someone can enjoy it for me. Apologies for inconvenience caused.

Sorry tompang to send regards. Met up with Ron Oz and his lovely daughter for dinner when I was in Mel two weeks ago. He asked me to convey this

“Please pass on my best wishes to the good people at SHC — Dolly, Nor, Ah Nee, Lina, Suzanne, Molly, Dennis, Terence, Lily, Steven, Yew Kwong, John Howe, etc etc”.

    Cheers
    Caroline

  81. Oh dear Caroline #137, sorry to hear about your quarantine after your trip. Pls do rest well and hope it’s nothing but a common flu. Don’t worry about the order, I’m sure there’s someone willing to take over. Just take care and have a speedy recovery ok? We’ll miss you esp. your jokes and humour.

  82. Hi Lisa

Sorry to borrow your thread. I will not be attending the meeting but I would like to inform all SHC members that if you like to attend a free concert with performers like Rahima Rahim, John Molina etc after your meeting, you can go to the Heritage Fest Concert at Vivo City. Show time is from 8 to 10.30pm. I will be there at 7.45pm as I already have a reserved seat. Details are as follows:

Raw, Real & Rockin’ (English Concert)Schedule
    Saturday, 25 July 8pm – 10.30pm
    VivoCity Amphitheatre, Level 3

In this celebration of Singapore’s very own musical talent, there is something for every ardent fan.

Colourful, nostalgic and inspiring all at the same time, this music showcase connects you to the who’s who of the local music scene. Here, you can learn about how the careers of some of our most beloved artistes took off, catch valuable footage of the yester-years or listen to their stories and interviews. Besides saluting veterans of old and current musicians hailing from genres such as rock, jazz, R&B and even the many dizzying offshoots of popular music, we will also honour the memory of those who have passed on.

Of course, no celebration is complete without having your favourite artistes charm you with their ‘live’ music. Be captivated by Cultural Medallion maestro, Iskandar Ismail, as well as Wendi Koh, Rahimah Rahim, John Molina and Alemay Fernandez. Or jive to the beat of Hadi formerly from Black Dog Bone, Jack & Rai from E.I.C. and guitar virtuoso and singer extraordinaire Paul Ponnudorai. There are also many more artistes such as Clement Chow, Melissa Tham, Faridah Dollah, Richard Jackson, Jat Ali and Affendi Sahid. 86. Hey Terence

Enjoyed your company, too!! Needless to say, Ivy is my rock. Still waiting to drink with you here in HK, Sg, Bangkok etc……….when is your next trip here?

  87. Hi Lisa,

I like to give some compliments to you on how you have run the SHC monthly gathering at Ghim Moh. I think the tone and manner the gathering was run is just great for members of the club.

    1. The atmostphere has allowed different activity EOs to discuss and agree on their trips, games, investment talks and even previous trip photographs. Chin was able to brief on the coming Padang trip; while Paul Kong can be seen very involved and deep in discussion with his group on the blink bling Malaysia trip. Dan continued his chess game with Daniel, although I was not sure if he won or was trashed by a new member. The Chinese chess continued in one corner, and building up interests with board games. Even the long lost Patrick Khoo appeared with his tiny little scrabble set.

    2. I cannot be too sure what the ladies were talking about, but I could see the a number of bubbly and eager group discussions going on among them.

I wont write more; as I guess many will write to give you flowers. Thank you. It was a great later afternoon event.

    Terence Seah

  88. Hi Lisa,

Congratulations. Well done and thank you for your personal service, Pie seh. The food was great. The place was solely for SHC members, we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Terence, well, the ladies did not gossip anything about the guys. I think most of us are concerned that you have gone down a bit. Take care.

Our groups managed to say hello to Hou Chong B4 he left the gathering.

Hi Hou Chong, in case you have met too many people and might not be able to remember, here I am “kiasu” put on record, haha,- Laura Wee, Dorothy Low, Angie(forgot your surname,no lah, give you a chance to post), Maureen Lee and myself, Hope you have a nice time back in Spore.

Do excuse me if I’ve left out anyone but from the bottom of my heart, I thank you all for your kind attendance and support all your kind support.
Hou Chong, sorry I had to miss your ‘Mian Kia Eu’ story again, so will have to KIV it for the next meet.

Roy, Lilian, Maureen, Hou Chong and all, I’m glad that you all had a great time. Wished I could do more but unfortunately Hou Chong forgot to bring me a bot of his ‘Mian Kia Eu’ that day, hahahaha……..Everything was well worth it after seeing how everyone enjoyed themselves.
Lily, how cups of coffee did you have that day? Hope it did not keep you up the whole night that day – go slow on it ok, too much caffeine is not good for you.
Got to go, have a great day everyone! Rgds, Lisa

  95. Dear All,

Just wanted to know if anyone lost a pendant that day at the SHC monthly meet? Kindly give me a call at my office: (telephone number deleted) and ask for Lisa and let me know what you’ve lost. I believe the kitchen staff have picked up a pendant and asked me to check if any of you have lost it by any chance. Thanks, Lisa

Please contact via email to lisa.ong@tmesystems.com.sg

  96. Hi All

  97. Hi Hou Chong,

How’s life back at Down Under ?

You came to Spore as “Crocodile Dundee” and “wallop” all the SHC beauties leaving us with none. Moe Yam Koong” Ha! ha! :)

  98. Hi Crocodile Dundee,

Alamak, heard from some SHCians who were envious of you
that the beauts were attracted to you like
“Lor Mai Chee Foo Long “

  99. Hi Patrick Don Juan ,

What dangerous liasions 3 times a yr ?

Well, although a short period Hou Chong was in Spore,
I believe SHCians sincerely enjoy the company of Hou Chong and vise versa.

  100. Hi Steven #158~160
It is late winter in Perth and the temp is getting warmer, approx 18C at noon. An ideal time to do gardening and other outdoors activities. My 2 dogs have grown fat over the winter. They looked cute and would make prefect walking partners for me. Reviving my old routine, I went to Fremantle markets on Friday and the Casino yesterday. Also enjoyed afternoon tea in my backyard. All simple activities with the “feeling good” factor. Not thinking about going back to work for now.

My recent visit to Singapore was indeed very enjoyable. I met many SHC members and participated in various activites, SHC and non SHC ones, monthly meeting, walks, drive into M’sia, karaokes, house gatherings, dinners, pubs and even join a few members to play as a band one afternoon. Thank you for inviting me to your house – I enjoyed watching your DVDs esp the one on water puppetry in Vietnam and the charming scenery of Jiuzhaigou. Your vertical garden is an interesting concept.

On the personal side, as you know, I am a quiet person with a desire to bear an insignificance presence, so kindly expect that there will be no Croak and no Dun to follow. However, I will continue to check in “see both sides”…haha.
Thank you also to all of you who shared your time and the wonderful activities with me.
Ps: Steven, I am very pleased to note that you are in an exultant mood.
    HC

  101. Hi Hou Chong,

….An ideal time to do gardening and other outdoors activities. My 2 dogs have grown fat over the winter. They looked cute and would make prefect walking partners for me.

V.Good for you to exercise with them. Poor little darlings, I am sure they must have missed you a lot too for abt. 1 month you are away in Spore.

…..It is late winter in Perth and the temp is getting warmer, approx 18C at noon.

18 deg C ? And you call that warm?????
At 18 deg.C ,most of us will be shivering or wearing our sweaters. Our normal air cond ideal temp is usually set at 25 deg.C for comfort.

We could see that you have a wonderful and joyful time in Spore with SHcians ( esp.those SHC gals that were attracted to you like “houseflies” by your charismatic appearance to the extent that the SHC guys Bey Tahan. Ha! ha! :)
