I am thinking of organising a visit to JB orphanage (date to be confirmed later) but prior to this, I have a mission to achieve thru’ collection/donation from the generous SHC members:
1. Old toys (must be at least in working/presentable condition) but currently white elephants in your storeroom – care to donate them as I am sure these children will definitely be very happy to receive them.
2. Old but still wearable toddlers to teenagers’ clothings – These children will need these for sure but please do not include g-strings or bikinis as these children don’t need them now lor..
3. Daily necessities (consumables and non-consumables) but Dolly is not too keen to get these here in SG as these might create unnecessary stoppage at the JB custom and it would be much convenient to get these in JB itself..
I am always thinking taking some photos of this orphanage but somehow is always slip of my mind but will definitely make an effort to take these photos next time when I visited them again.
So, if any of you have the above to donate to them, please let me know by posting your comments here and I will get in touch with you on the arrangement to collect these items at your convenience.

I do have some teenagers’clothings that were relatively new.
How do I pass to you if I can’t make it on that day.
I do have some gifts for them but they aren’t in bulk. Thus,they could be given away as prizes after a game or two.
I suggest (if possible) 1st Oct is Children’s Day would be a gd day to visit them. I’ll be free to go and help you since it’s a special school holiday.
However, I u/stand many will be working, unless they take a day’s leave.

Its great that you are initiating this in JB. I always get the impression that Singapore do not have any orphanages, as all our children are very wanted, and any unwanted ones will be snapped up. The queue here for babies is long indeed, so all those wanting babies go abroad to China, Vietnam, Indonesia. Wonder why they did not go to Malaysia and clear out all their orphans…

When you first posted this thread, I had tears in my eyes as I feel for children. Very maternal. I DARE not ask for this trip to coincide with my Nov trip cos that would be asking too much and probably holding up your plan/schedule etc.
Nevermind my trip. When I am back in Nov, would like to hand over some small donation for your next trip if it’s not too much trouble.
After reading Karen Thio’s comment without watching the video………yes, our kids are very blessed indeed. Would like to visit this orphanage if possible in future.
I used to volunteer at Mother’s C***** here in HK a long time ago; very heartbreaking. Remember crying everytime when I got home and my daughters would wonder why and I would explain to them about these children’s plight.
I am happy to say that both my girls grew up as compassionate human beings amongst other things. Let me know.
