  1. Hi all,

Just to update that 2 strangers finally agreed to go on this trip to Malacca with me, albeit with a bit of assurance after having a meeting at the NLB park on the 10th Floor with Terence coming along for that reason.

I must say, i did enjoy myself, having one Singaporean and one ex Hong Kong citizen going down the coastal countryside from JB to Malacca and Port Dickson. There are many things for them to discover and cheap food along the way.
    – In Malacca , we had hawker food at Malacca Newton Circus, which is really cosier, roomier, quieter than Newton, and even had a large screen TV showing Cantonese serial while you really take your time to savour your food.
    – Also, a must try , now i know, the Malacca famous Cathay Satay Chelup. It means satay of seafood stuff, prawns, cockrels, fishballs, also some meat ,dipped into a steamboat of peanut gravy. Try this at Bukit China Street for the real thing. Andrew’s only gripe but he did enjoy it, was that why only one type of steamboat soup , why not 3 types like in HK.
    – Muar, we tried one of most famous Tim Sum and Pau ,with Chinese tea, and I had to explain the finer difference of Malaysian Tim sum against Singapore version. Andrew’s comment was, ‘yes’ this is the way but it can be better as compared to HK.
    – Ayer Keroh – we had Won ton mee, but that was not good, as the good stall was not opened.
    – Kukup, we had enough Craps, prawns, mussels, and fried rice with beer for only M$88 , that is less than S$40/-

Finally, real discovery , Port Dickson has too many Big Holiday Resorts all lined up along the Beach, almost like Palm beach California, but without the crowd, maybe it is not Spring break yet. But one really nice resort i really like to own is the Marina Cove, really classy ,and is really well designed with all the rooms surronding the yachts in the marina, and having Bungalowas lined up right up the marina entrace. The cheapest Condo here next to this Marina is about M$250,000 and their hotel will be ready next year.

Just to add, Terence, there is a Golf Course just across the Beach, and green fees are just are M$40.

Well this might be one of the Eco Villages to consider, but maybe there is even a better one on the East side of Malaysia , nearer to Singapore, where you can not only fish, but do some farming, goat rearing etc. Anyone for a trip to the Eastern Penisular, next month ? Dave says the sea water there is as clear as can be.

    Cheers

  2. Hi All,
Glad to hear you had a wonderful time. Mmmm all that food and “makaning”! So how many kilos have you put on or “shed” with all that activity?
Didn’t know that PD is still okay. I’ve heard so many stories about how it has deteriorated and the crowd and traffic jams you could encounter before you even get to this place could drive you crazy. Also, the sea is not as nice and clean as before. Guess you were right when you said that it’s not break time yet so the crowd is not in.
Kukup,I’ve been there – to eat as well as to explore. Also Tj Piai and Pulau Kukup which are along the way and also Ramsar Sites – a cetification similar to UNESCO world heritage except this is on a much smaller scale and applicable in this part of the world. Nice places to go if you’re interested in birdwatching, looking out for sea creatures at mudflats (no Lochness Monster), trekking and studying mangrove swamps and its inhabitants.
Tell you more if you wish to know and when there is an opportunity to do so.
