  1. Hi Joan
Yatsing will be organising the next round table session early next year. We will definitely put your name on the register. Thanks for your positive response.
    Paul.

  2. Hi Boss #24,

Have just confirmed my Hotel Room Reservation at Central Hotel – Yangon yesterday. Can you arrange with William Chew to stay in Central Hotel – Yangon too? Pls note my flight details:

You will arrive earlier than me on same day…..
Note: Have already arranged airport pick-up upon my arrival to the Central hotel…..
Happy to know that William Chew is there – dun know him, so must introduce; OK!

    Cheers!,

  3. Hi Ivan #23,
I am confirmed to join you in Yangon. ETA 12 Jan Bkk/Yan 0800 hr. ETD 17 Jan Yan/Bkk 1630 hr. Ticket bought. I have asked William Chew, who is located there to assist with hotel. Will be in Yangon only. Tourist visa. Need help with hotel?

Any SHCians like to join? You can join Ivan from Singapore, and we meet in Yangon. For me, it will be a F&E trip too, with some business sidelines, enjoying the food, air and going disco. Yes?

  4. Boss #20,
The cost of the Jetstar air-tickets are like a bull-run stock-market now …… a return air-ticket will set you back about SGD700++ ….. I just checked it.
You are better off flying Silkair or Thai or Myr-air if you still intend to go ….. sop..sop..sop..sop..

  5. Boss #20,
About publishing opportunities…..there is a association in MYR:
    Myanmar Printers and Publishers Association
No. 152, G/F, 37th Street Kyauktada Township, Yangon
You can start from this when there in Yangon…..
    NOTE:
    Jetstar flights on 12Jan2010, Saver-Light and Saver20kgs are sold out already…..left only Flex-seats….very expensive….SGD422 – one-way!

  6. Boss #20,
    Please check your SHC.com email.
Have Send you more details about Biz Visa, Documentations etc. Hope to have you on this trip too.
Two more pax or vacancies left. Does not intend to exceed 04 pax for this trip……(including me self).

  7. Hi IvanL #19,

I have not booked anything yet, but I have a 90% chance of joining you on your dates. Will confirm within a day or two. I plan to look up publishing opportunities when I am up there. Glad to travel with you mate.

  8. Hello Boss #18,

The dates are: 12Jan2011 into YGN and 19Jan2011 out of YGN
Airtickets: via Jetstar Budget Airline (one flight per week only) so no choice on return date…..
Staying at: Most probably Central Hotel – Yangon……

    NOTE:

Tourist Visa is a headache now due old lady out of hse-### situation…it is a hassle where we go in YGN etc etc. With Tourist visa…have to make daily report, daily schedules etc etc to YGN authorities….concerns that we may be reporters etc…

Better go for Business Visa but I will have to arrange a legitimate Invitation Letter from a Myanmar Company for you…will take some co-ord and about 03-04 days….
Business Visa processing also about 03-04 days…cost SGD95 including travel agent transaction fees.

Other paperworks, will advise you by private emails if you can confirm by 15Dec2010.

  9. Hi All Round Table SHCians…..

A quick thank you to all who emailed me on their “lobangs and contacts”……

But but but … please note: Me only going to YGN; and not to Mandalay or Sittwe or Nyi Pi Dar etc….
The trip is ON and hopefully will be a fruitful for the immediate and short term scenario.

Thank you and have a great week ahead!!

  10. Hi Jeff n Paul,

Glad to hear that things are slow getting along with the Round Table sessions….sori that I could not be there yesterday evening/nite.

Anyway, for info purposes, I am planning a Free&Easy 7D/6N Trip to Yangon (Myanmar) this Jan 2011……..with a bias towards re-assessing the biz situation in Myanmar for the short-term and medium-term.

If any of the Round Table Participants got any past “lobang/contacts” that they wishes to “re-establish” again in Yangon, I can “check-it-out” for them when there ……. but please email me privately on this at my yahoo email.

OK, have to call it a nite now …. oops, it’s early morning oredi….no wonder feeling sleepy…ZZZZzzzzzzzz

  11. Thanks, Paul for being the EO for the event. With this Round Table session, things are slowly crystralising into a business forum with less ‘non-business chatter’. Several interesting ideas were put forth, some which deserve further consideration and might just materialise into a business venture.

Bear in mind though that the Round Table is meant to be a platform for ideas and opportunities to flow freely rather than one to work on specific projects. That takes place after and outside the Round Table. Certainly when incepting a new business venture, meetings, discussions and planning will be more often than once a month.

We take a break in December and Yatsing has graciously put her hand up for the January Round Table. Watch out for her post.

  12. Hi Maggie Chua,
Sorry I can’t update the list but not to worry I’ve counted you in already.

@everyone: Looking forward to meeting all of you tomorrow.

    Paul Phua

  13. Hi Jeffrey, Phua and all participants to this Round Table gathering,

The objective of this round table is to facilitate business interests among SHC members with other like-minded people. I have come across some views that this gathering is more of an expensive dinner gathering and lacking in agenda.

In every new activity that is being launched, we start with feeling our way around, because members’ interests vary. It will take a couple of sessions before Jeffrey gets a feel of the direction we should take. He has voluntarily offered to lead this activity, together with Susan and likeminded guys like Paul Phua.

I support and would encourage more business activities. I would also encourage you to offer your thoughts and suggestions so that ideas can be nurtured and developed. But, again, we would have to let the leaders find the common ground. Participation in any activity organised by members is absolutely at the discretion of individuals. If you disagree with the way the activity is being conducted, first do respect that someone has the guts and the courage to give it a go. You are also free to take ownership. We have always encouraged members to raise their hands. Please do not thumbs down another person’s good intentions. This is discouraging and not fruitful. Simply speak with Jeffrey or Susan.

  14. Hi Paul, I haven’t met you before. i will lock in this date for your event and can my ‘Kojak’ friend Jeffrey Lim which I last saw at Jacqueline Han’s Mooncake gathering at Pine Grove.
    Please register me. Thank you

  15. YK,
Thanks for adding the contents to the post YK.

Just to recap from our last meeting:
The general intention is to keep this group as a business networking group and not let it evolve into a social gathering. However it is not a must to have a business plan to join us – just be open to the possibility of being in business and contributing your expertise.

Do reply early so that we can make arrangements for a private room. Thank you & looking forward to meeting again.

    Paul Phua
