Fortune cookies – Do you know what it is?

I am not sure how many of us have seen a fortune cookie.  Guess those who have patronised Chinese restaurants in the West, would know what a fortune cookie is.  Last week, I was glad to join the good company of Hou Chong, Tian Soo and CharlesC.  We ate at an Asian restaurant.  Food was so so; but what attracted me was a bottle of fortune cookies.

Bought one; but was finally given to me free by the owner.  Broke the shell, and inside was a strip with the words "Soon, you will meet more elders …"  Well, I like it.

Do you make fortune cookies? or can you make them? Say, maybe 250 pcs at a time.  I was thinking that this would be great idea for restaurants.   Please let me know, I would like to get in touch with you.

  1. Hi Jassmine, Karen,

Fortune cookies is like a dessert. We look forward to it at the end of the meal. We are always eager to know a little bit more about ourselves, something in the future, whether we will meet someone nice, etc, etc. That’s a fortune cookies.

I cannot find the documentary on making a fortune cookie. But, can anyone make fortune cookie, I like to engage someone to do say 250 cookies.

I happened to watch this “documentary” – How it is make in starhub channel about a week ago, very interesting.

Fortune cookie is made by large machine and they produce about a million a day.

It is different from Love Letter and it need to bend at a certain angle for the little paper to be conceal inside.

If someone can make love letter , they can actually do the same way as the fortune cookie but must be individually wrap.

Then we can name it “Singapore Fortune Cookie” our version.

  3. Hi Terence,

I don’t believe that was the ‘prophecy’ you got in your fortune cookie. You made that up, didn’t you? :)

Fortune cookies are fun and make great ice- breakers, but they are difficult to find in S’pore.

    Hi AnnT #1

Could you tell us the places that sell fortune coolies? Thanks.
